I was looking for honey wal nut shrimp similar to Panda Express .. And the number one recommended spot to try was Rain Modern Chinese right there on lark street I called in my order on a quiet evening . I was greeted as soon as I walk into the establishment. Everybody I came in contact with was helpful and checked on me while I waited Iv never been here before so I wasn’t sure what to expect First thing first This is not your typical cheap Chinese restaurant and you can definitely tell everything was fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. The meal had a fried rice Upcharge. But it was so worth it I think that’s the best fried rice i have ever tried And the honey walnut shrimp so so good and crunchy . And the shrimp were huge No complaints on this end
Wife and I had a late dinner here and the food was fantastic, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was serene. We were actually enjoying the drinks and the company so much we didnt realize it was close to closing time. Even then the staff was kind, patient and sweet. I would definitely recommend eating here. We know we'll be back.
Excellent service, drinks were great. Best Chinese food we've been able to find in the capital region.
friendly welcome with tea as a welcome greeting, food very tasty, price and performance are very good. There was also a greeting from the kitchen, a small fruit plate. We'd love to come back as soon as we're in the area again.
Off street parking is great plus. Peking Duck well prepared - buns perfect. Great service and always want to visit again when we visit Albany
I've been ordering from Rain for many years now and the food has been consistently high quality. I love General Tso's chicken and the cuts of chicken they use are excellent, with a satisfying tenderness. The spring rolls are always fried to flaky perfection. The delivery drivers are all fantastic. Very friendly and respectful of no-contact preferences. Rain is one of the reasons why I love living in Albany.
My husband and I had dinner here. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We sat and had tea which was hot and delicious. We had pork and steamed shrimp dumplings. The flavor……so good I ordered one to go. My husband had the Birds Nest and I had the Beef Chow Fun. The Birds Nest was beautifully presented and the portion was generous. The nest was made from a root that I had looked up at them time. It was cooked to perfection, crunchy and bursting with flavors that made my husband wanting more. The beef chow fun (my favorite go to meal) well…..it was the BEST I have had from any establishment. We will with out a doubt return.
From my 9 year old: This is the best place in the city, EVER. I love it so much, the food is so good and the people are so nice. It has a perfect name complimented by the water feature in the lobby. I would rate it one thousand million stars if I could. The staff is genuine and warm, just the best. I wish there were more places like this.
We were glad to enjoy Rain. Service was terrific. My favorite dish was the Roast Pork Noodle Soup, which had great flavor to the Char Siu Pork. I will definitely order that again. There were a few dishes that felt a little bland, perhaps for the American audience, but I would love to come back.
Well priced, great atmosphere. Serves fantastic hot tea complimentary. Great dim sum, great restaurant menu. The style of the restaurant is to order plates for the table to share. If I had to make a critique, I would say it is a little tough to get as many veggies as you might like without ordering a veggie dish specifically.
I will absolutely always come here. Great customer service. They are so nice and attentive
Last night we had an absolutely delicious dinner. The soup dumplings, beef chow fun and recommend lo mein were superb as usual. We tried a dish that we’ve never had before - crispy shrimp with walnuts. That’ll be on our rotation now. The staff was very courteous and accommodating. The star of the show was our waiter who stopped us in the parking lot to return a purse that was left behind. That caliber of personalized service that went above and beyond was greatly appreciated.
Beautiful atmosphere especially the window seats. Fabulous Fresh Asian foods and tea. Terrific wait staff kind and efficient even during a very busy time. Warm and welcoming. We will be back!
I had a rough time in Albany but man, I was really pleasantly surprised by Rain. More than anything, the service was thoughtful, proactive, and kind! It was my first time there and they asked how I wanted my water (iceless! unlike the rest of my table) and checked in about my dietary needs. That was really cool. I got the garlic eggplant. The lunch portion was such a perfect size. The eggplants were so tender and a vibrant purple. I also got soup dumplings!! Large, delicious, done very well. My partner got the General Tso's chicken, which he enjoyed + points for the chicken being crisp and consistent in texture -- featureless white meat all the way. The flavors go a little further than your basic Chinese takeout. They're more distinct, and I think the ingredients used are better for sure.
We held a Rehearsal Dinner at Rain. The service was wonderful, food delicious and they were so kind to us as we celebrated the happy couple. We weren't rushed to leave, and the wait staff insisted we box up the extras for everyone to take some home. A few months before we had dinner here and the portions are enormous! Enough to share and still take some home for the next day.
The staff and food is top notch, also very wide variety of foods and good prices.
Had a family lunch here. The food was a combination of American Chinese food and authentic Chinese food. The dishes were delicious. And the waiter who was from Canton (today's Guangzhou) really amazed us, because he had a super great memory by taking orders without using a note. If you are there, try to find him and challenge his memory. But surely, the priority you are there should be good food!!!
Food was delicious portions are huge. Service was incredible. Our waiter Simon helped us around the menu and remembered our entire order without writing a thing down not one mistake. The food was already incredible but with service and hospitality like Simon Gives it elevated the whole experience. My friends and I had a wonderful time my highest recommendations across the board for a fun night out with friends.
Love the food here, and sitting by the window and watching the crazy people have conversations with themselves on lark st is an amazing time. The bald waiter there workd 6 days a week, and id the nicest guy ever. My better half and I go at least once a week
Quality of the food is great. The setup of the restaurant is elegant. Gave me a peaceful mind to enjoy the food. I would recommend it.
We started our dinner off with some cold sake. Then had an appetizer of spicy chicken. And finished it off with some general Tso chicken and shrimp fried rice. Everything was cooked to order quickly, and the taste was beyond imaginable. My favorite had to the spicy chicken that we had, I only wish it had come with some type of dipping sauce due to the spice level. Overall I was pleased with our meal and the ambiance, the service was a little slow though for us to be the only ones in the restaurant at first.
My family and I ordered a large to go order about a month ago. I picked it up on the way to my mother's. It was packed up so thoughtfully for one person to carry. On arrival to my mom's house in Rensselaer I realized one meal was missing. We called to see if we could come pick up the missing meal and the host/ person who I picked the order up from insisted he personally deliver it...across the river! We were so impressed with how he handled the mistake. We tried to tip him more but he wouldn't accept! Anyway, it was a perfect example of amazing customer service. Plus the food was excellent! Highly recommend!
Best quality chinese food in the capital region, and it’s not even close. Consistently good, no matter when we order. A little bit pricier but 100% worth it.
We stopped in for a late lunch. They were able to accommodate 10 of us on short notice. The decor is casual modern, lots of dark furniture and wood. Staff was super friendly and amazingly helpful with menu. Our orders were timely and everything was delicious. I enjoyed the scallion pancakes and lamb casserole the best. Too bad it's so far away or I'd stop by more often. I regret not taking a few meal photos to post.
The soup dumplings were so awesome. We had the mango chicken, the duck, and tea. The atmosphere is nice, the waiter was very nice and even took our order without having to write it down! He noticed our kids really liked the complimentary fruit at the end of dinner and brought out some more for them, without being asked. Only slight issue would be the parking lot is very small so you'll probably have to park on the street and walk, but if you don't mind that, definitely stop and try this place.
Went for a Christmas dinner and Everything was fantastic! Got soup dumplings and boneless ribs to start and they were delicious! The Peking duck was perfect! Crispy and juicy the buns were well steamed and the cocktails were yummy. For a day when it was super busy I feel like I was still given great attention by our waitress. I definitely will be returning.
We haven't been able to go in and eat but we get takeout a couple times a month and it's always delicious!
Went to Rain for dinner for the first time this week and we will be back! We got the soup dumplings, orange beef, Peking duck, and green beans dishes. Highly recommend all of them!
From the outside looking in, Rain Modern Chinese was calling out to us...we're happy to have answered the call! The restaurant was fairly empty on a Sunday night. The dining room is comfortable and quiet with nice music playing subtly in the background and a nice view of Lark St through the large front windows. Our server greeted us with hot tea and offered assistance as we looked through the menu. We chose fried dumplings and crab rangoon for our appetizers. They are both good, standard choices for comparing amongst restaurants. We went ahead and ordered our main dishes of Sizzling Black Pepper Strip Steak and Spicy Crispy Chicken. I asked how spicy the chicken was and our server's response was 'not too spicy as you can pick around the peppers.' Being daring, I went ahead and ordered the dish. All of the food was incredibly delicious. We surmised that both appetizers are made in-house. The wontons on the crab rangoon were the lightest and most crispy I've ever had. The dumplings were stuffed full with a tasty pork filling and were seared to almost being caramelized on one side. The only shortcoming would have been the sauce for the dumplings which was a bit thin and lacked the usual garlic-ginger zing that we're accustomed to. The steak dish was overflowing with fresh, crisp vegetables and the tender steak was cooked perfectly. The chicken had a kick! But it was great as the breading appeared to be made with rice flour giving it the lightest coating possible. The chicken, too, was tender beyond belief. Both dishes were piled high with food - enough to serve two. Unlike many other restaurants we've tried, neither the beef nor the chicken had any fat or grizzle. If you want some quality food in a comfortable, relaxing environment, give Rain Modern Chinese a try. You won't be sorry!
We ordered the crab rangoons, the crispy jumbo shrimp with honey glazed walnut, the sesame chicken. The rangoon shell was light and crispy, and the filling was real savory. The honey glazed walnut sauce was incredible and the crunch of the walnut was the right balance. All white meat chicken and huge pieces. The portions were large enough to split into 2 meals, and the service was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. With 17 percent tip all came to 50 dollars. Ambiance was 8 8.5 out of 10 it was nice.
Great service ,food and ambiance. We had spring rolls, mango chicken, pork fried rice, and general tso shrimp. The service was quick(but not too fast). The food was served hot and tasted great. Hot tea for free was a nice touch. Will definitely recommend this place.
I absolutely love this place! I have to be honest and say that we just went to dinner last night and the food was not up to par. I ordered the General Tao's Chicken and it was not so good. Sauce was amazing, but you couldn't chew the chicken. So tough and stringy. Appetizers where Great. This was the second time this has happened. I won't get the chicken again.
A lot of pricey stuff here and some outright overpriced items (looking at you bao, and some of those lunch specials), but there are also some good deals hidden in the menu, which is what I come here for. I stick to the cheaper stuff so this review only applies to that. I haven't tried any of their premium dishes. But as far as the soup and meat are concerned, they're everything I could ask for at this price. I recommend their "Cantonese Style" Wonton Soup. Other than the broth there's nothing different about it, and it's definitely at the upper limit of what anyone should pay for wonton soup, but it has a nice shoyu broth and the dumplings are packed with meat (far more than your typical wispy takeout dumpling). The amount of soy sauce in the broth varies depending on who's making it, but it's always good. The boneless ribs and their sauce vary quite a bit in quality depending on the night, but they can be great on a good night. Definitely seems they come out of the fridge though (sometimes there are some ice cold pockets). You can also buy garlic sauce on the side. It's... not bad. Incredibly oily and surprisingly bland for something full of garlic (strong smell but less flavor). You'd probably be better off buying lao gan ma or something at the store. That's about all that can be said. Last but not least: I've tried so many places with reviews raving about crab rangoons that turned out to be junk, so I was reluctant to shell out the bucks to try another. But after enough solid experiences here I finally tried their crab rangoons, and I can say they are absolutely everything everyone says. Homemade, and actually have crab in them! And they are unsweetened so the sauce actually has a use. And the sauce itself was not overly dense and had a surprising touch of nuance to the flavor; I'm used to run of the mill "sweet and sour sauce." That's not to say this place's sauce is dramatically different, but I appreciated it being a little more balanced and flavorful than the flat orange syrups most places serve. Pairs perfectly with the rangoons. Whoever put together the recipe here knows their way around a rangoon. Overall, can't speak to the pricier items that make up the majority of this place's menu, but for what I get here I am very pleased. Crab Rangoons are absolutely worth it and the Cantonese Wonton Soup is worth the few extra bucks if you're in the mood for something hot but on the lighter side. Judging by the consistency of the ribs, I probably would not go far above that in price. The staff up front were all young part timers, so going by that and the inconsistent preparation, I'd suspect the kitchen is similar. Not sure I'd risk paying big meal bucks for a place without professional staff. But if you stay in the budget range I can recommend Rain wholeheartedly.
Was walking through the lovely historic, residential homes and asked a local her favorite place for some yummy lunch! Without skipping a beat, she proclaimed, "Rain!" After conversing for 45 minutes, I promptly walked into Rain and was greeted with fantastic smells and a wonderful atmosphere! I was led to my table by the windows and chose a couple appetizers and some fried rice! Far too much food for one, but yummy the first time and enjoyed for several leftover meals.
Very unusual and delicious Chinese food. Shrimp with honey walnuts, har gow, fried rice, anything in the garlic sauce, chow fun amazing! Service could not be better. This restaurant has totally spoiled us as we cannot eat Chinese food anywhere else!
Considering we’re not in New York City or Boston, this Chinese restaurant is solid. The Peking Duck service was good. Sure, the skin could’ve been a bit crispier and the carving a little more refined, but honestly, just having it on the menu out here is already a win. Flavors 7.5-8 out of 10 if I’m being strict. The soup dumplings had a thicker skin than usual, which we actually prefer, though we know many might not. Overall, the value for money was solid—it wasn’t ridiculously expensive—and all the staff were warm and welcoming. Our server in particular was super friendly and made the experience even better.
Awesome service, cute and zen like decor that’s great for a solo meal or a group. I had some great appetizers and a well made lychee martini. The service was fast, attentive and they put an extra touch on things (like starting off the service with complimentary tea). I had the pork bao buns, crispy jumbo shrimp with honey glazed walnuts, pork egg rolls, and fried rice. Everything was fresh and tasty and a great price.
I have been coming here for years (since my son went to college and grad school in the area). This place has one of the best Peking duck. It is tasty, juicy and not dry, and I have been to places in Chinatown and Downtown Flushing. The soup dumplings and other dishes are also terrific. Service is excellent.
Every time we pass through Albany we stop for lunch here. It has always been a great meal. We love the awesome dipping sauce served with the scallion pancakes. Soups are all wonderful and so are the dumplings. This was my fist time having the Beef Chow Fun with gravy and it was fantastic!
A great find! A friend, my husband and I were in the area and glad to find this nice Chinese restaurant. The food was really delicious and service was good! We had steamed flounder, squid with sour cabbage (in the picture), a soup, popcorn chicken and string beans. The flounder was very fresh and tasty and the squid dish was beyond our expectations. We had a great experience. Highly recommend! Will definitely come back if we are in the area again!
Everything was so tasty but the tofu dishes were especially delicious. The soup dumplings, wonton soup, and Shanghai soup dumplings were also prepared well. I love that the places wasn’t so crowded either. Very pleasant.
Food was great. Service was good. The drinks were not too great so had a beer instead. I would visit here again but, a deep cleaning of the booth walls needs to happen.
Personally, the food I ordered was a bit salty. But that’s also just up to taste. The place is really nice, and the outside looks are deceiving. The bathrooms were incredibly clean, and the service was excellent (the server was very kind).
I gave it 4 stars because it’s probably the most expensive Chinese food in the area and the portion size was pretty small for what you pay. Overall the food is good but I probably won’t get take out again because you barely get any fried rice compared to most combo platters you’ll get from other places. I’ll stick to ichiban which is cheaper, tastes just as good and is better value.
We really like this spot. The soup dumplings are excellent, much better than the pork fried dumplings which I wouldn't recommend. The lo mein and fried rice are both good. Staff and atmosphere are both very nice. Tea was served with our dinner which we thought was a nice touch. Bathrooms were very clean.
I ordered a beef and broccoli lunch and broccoli was mushy and rice was dry.
Funky Chinese restaurant located in downtown Albany. Came here on a rainy day and this place did not disappoint. My bf had chicken in a half pineapple, soup filled dim sum, and a Polynesian drink. The entirety of our meal was fabulous. It was comfort Chinese food with a refined twist all for a reasonable price.
Food is good. And it's big. Perfectly 2 people con share. I have been there two times and same good experience.
We stopped in on a Monday evening to have dinner. The General TSO’s chicken was delicious. The Kung Pao Chicken was just ok. Service was a 10!
Rain Modern Chinese is one of the posher establishments in its immediate vicinity of Lark Street. But excluding their specials, their standard menu is actually reasonably priced, especially given the size of the portions. The Crab Rangoon was crispy and the steamed pork buns were excellent. The beef with string beans, while tasty, was on the oily side. The service is attentive and accommodating.
Stopped here for some Asian appetizers on the way to VT traveling from NJ. We had the Pancakes with Curry Sauce which was delicious, and the Crab Rangoon. It was refreshing to see the Crab Rangoon with a stuffing having more crab meat than cream cheese. They also serve hot tea, on the house! The only thing weird for me was the 20% tip they added even when we were a party of two, but since the service was nice we weren't bothered much by that.
Rain is upscale culinary experience in Chinese cuisine, we eat here at least 3x month, staff is extremely professional and aim to please your palette. Ingredient's are fresh, if you want lobster or fish you can pre-order with Simon or Vinny or Paul, give them 2 days. Short ribs with broccoli, onions, beef ,delicious, chow fun beef noodle hits the senses and satisfy any craving you have for noodles, some dim sum dishes available, how gow ,shrimp in cloud of bell pepper, shrimp nestled in egg plant simply delicious, you won't be disappointed, bring your appetite and sit back and enjoy.$$$
This place is pretty good for a quick bite or some dim sum. Their spring rolls are extremely good and so are their soup dumplings. Everything is portioned so you wont get too much food. The atmosphere is also very relaxing and comfy. It’s a pretty dim restaurant but every table has a light over it so don’t worry about it being too dark to eat. The service is good but nothing above ordinary. No one was rude or impatient. Would go again.
Food was fine, basic Chinese-American fare. On the oily side. Automatically added on a 20% tip without telling us.
Everything was okay till the end where the waitress automatically tip herself 18% of the total bill. Normally, customers would get to choose how much to tip the waiter/waitress, but nope NOT HERE! Because of this incident, I rate this place 3/5. The food was good and the restaurant had a nice ambiance vibe to it, but I won’t come here anytime soon. Sorry NOT SORRY!!! I definitely felt I was taken advantage of.
This place has gone downhill. The ambiance is nice but the food is weak and the service is just about weaker. The flavors, the love isn’t there, it’s more just thrown together and served on a plate.
Food was good, good portions, reasonable prices. It’s cute inside. My main issue is the service, it was horrible. We went out last night for my birthday dinner, had a reservation for 6:45, got there a couple minutes before. I don’t know if it’s because we’re teenagers or what but the man at the host stand gave us one of the mossy disgusting looks ever. They forgot to write down our reservation but were aware we had one. After standing there for about 5 minutes with no one telling us what was happening they finally led us to a table. Let me preface this by saying the place was not busy, had it been busy I would’ve understood this next part, but it wasn’t. It took 20 minutes for someone to greet us, literally ridiculous. We had to wait close to a half hour after we got there to place our order, it’s not acceptable given they were not busy. Service was so-so the rest of the night
My husband and I visited for dinner. We ordered peaking duck, shrimp fried rice, stir fry edamame and shrimp dumplings. I’d pass on the edamame it needed more salt, the shrimp dumplings were not very flavorful, the duck was good I’d order it again. The shrimp fried rice could use some more veggies or even bean sprouts. Also, 20% tip included in the bill even for 2 people.
Rain Modern Chinese Cuisine has been on my list for a while now and I finally made it there yesterday: a GORGEOUS, warm, sunny September day. Rain is right in the middle of the Lark Street neighborhood, which is really a fabulous area of Albany. Great neighborhood. Great vibes. So many places to eat/shop/etc. First: Rain is a beautiful restaurant. The bar, the dining room, the entrance up the stairs from Lark Street with the glass wall of water. Really lovely. The dining room is a corner with windows around both walls looking out onto the street. I sat at the bar which is big, roomy, very nice comfortable seats. There was a TV. I do like to have a TV at the bar when I’m on one of my epic lunch outings. My approach to eating out is to try as many different things as possible. Especially when I am trying a place for the first time. Rain was kind of perfect for that because they have a pretty extensive small plates section. I don’t eat beef, pork or poultry and there were plenty of choices for me without those. I started with steamed shrimp dumplings and edamame dumplings in broth and fried jumbo shrimp with honey walnuts. And here’s where we ran into trouble. The two main “issues” with the food I had at Rain were lack of flavor and really not great sauces. There are two things in American Chinese cuisine that make or break the dishes: fresh ingredients and REALLY GOOD sauces. The sauces I had at Rain were not good. At all. The first sauce I encountered was on the fried jumbo shrimp with honey walnut. Now the fried jumbo shrimp were PERFECTION. Hot, crispy, perfectly fried with just the right amount of breading. Each was tapped with one excellent walnut. The problem with the dish was the sauce, which was clearly the “honey” part of the dish and had the thickness and sweetness of the icing you’d get on top of a cinnamon bun. Yikes. WAY too much. ON a variety of levels. The steamed shrimp dumplings had great texture and filling and were each sitting in a little bit of sauce that I had high hopes for. I was envisioning something with some real salt/spicy flavor to punch of the dumplings. That sauce was, as far as I could tell, entirely tasteless. The entire dumpling experience lacked even salt… The edamame dumplings in sauce were particularly not good. Once again I was really hopeful that the broth would be super flavorful to pair with the blandness of the dumplings. Incorrect. The broth had the flavor profile of water. Most unfortunate was the consistency of the smashed up edamame filling in the dumplings. Once again, even some salt would have helped these bad boys. Then I ordered the scallion pancake with curry dipping sauce. That curry dipping sauce was the one standout sauce of this meal. It was DELICIOUS. Kind of heavy, but SUPER tasty. The scallion pancakes themselves were also pretty great. Extremely thing, delightfully crispy. Like a super thin crush New Haven pizza version of scallion pancake. The pancake was so good I ate most of it without the dipping sauce. Yes! It also had FLAVOR. At that point I wanted to try one more thing and there were multiple main dishes with fish to choose from. So I asked my waiter (who was LOVELY - EXCELLENT service!) to weigh in and he suggested the Szechuan Grilled Mahi Mahi with mixed vegetables. I hadn’t had Mahi in quite a long while and that piece of Mahi was PERFECT. SEARED crispy on one side, cooked perfectly all the way through, served so piping hot I had to let it rest a bit before I could even eat it. The problem with this dish, again, was the sauce that the vegetables were covered in. Not good. Not spicy. Too gelatinous, which I always equate with jar sauces (i.e,. Not housemade). This dish would have been much better without the sauce… There are clearly ways to eat at Rain and order items that are better/more tasty than most of my meal. Since the pancake and the piece of Mahi Mahi were so good I’m assuming there are other items on the menu that are similarly good. It’s too bad it’s so hard to figure out which menu items actually have the flavor.
I really hate to write this review because in the past Rain was one of my favorites. The last few times it's either been awful or just a little better than awful. I will say, last night is the last time I will ever order or go to Rain. We were told our pickup order would be ready by a certain time (Christmas Day) & when we got there they said 20 more minutes. Ok, that's ok it was Christmas & the place was packed. But this has happened before, when the restaurant has been empty on a weeknight. One time I ordered online and they told me they didn't get that order because they only get orders a different way online? I already paid for it and it took 20 minutes for them to figure it out, then start making my order. Ok, whatever. The food has been hit or miss but mostly misses. Then last night happened. We had a big order and the only thing edible were the spring rolls & dumplings. The low mein tasted like rancid oil, the crab Rangoon was soooo fishy it didn't seem right at all. The shrimp w lobster sauce & fried rice were flavorless. The boneless ribs were so dry and barely had any sauce. The scallion pancakes & egg rolls were also flavorless & greasy. Everything else was just more of the same. I understand the place was busy but this seems to be normal for Rain. Meanwhile, their Shogun Delmar location is one of my favorite restaurants where I will forever be a loyal customer. I feel so ripped off and we all went hungry on christmas & ate ice cream. I thought Chinese takeout was the way to go this Christmas because I'm recovering from major surgery, but I will never chance a holiday meal w guests ever again like this.
I ordered for delivery. The fried vegetable dumplings and the vegetable spring rolls were great. However: the sesame tofu was awful. The sauce was great but, The tofu was raw and moist inside...the breading was soggy...I couldn't eat the tofu like at all due to the texture.
Disappointed. Spent far too much. We decided to take out and try some of their other meals as our first time going and dining in was positive. Might not make the effort to go back. Soup dumplings must have over steamed 1/2 had no “soup”… these were far better and also larger in person Tried the lychee duck - I’ve never ordered duck from a Chinese restaurant but have had it elsewhere…. This was likely old/over cooked as it was basically gray in color and really not appetizing to look at - had little to no sauce and half a can of pineapples - 1/5⭐️ Ended up mainly eating the lychee and pineapples… the gray matter meat and maybe meat pieces? I likely will not finish Gf got the mango chicken - she is currently “hungry” still as she did not bother finishing. The sauce she commented was bland as well as the chicken and “not sure I saw any mangoes” Overall this was an expensive order for a dinner … feels like a gacha
I used to love their food. But we ordered 4 dishes yesterday, 3 out 4 were incredible salty that we had to try to eat them because we were starving at that time. We eventually could not finish them all and drank so much water between our meal. Probably my worst experience ever. Will try to avoid this place in the future.
First time. Won't be back. We did take out. Duck with lychee/pineapple was very dry, chewy, dry even with the sauce. Sweet n sour chicken I think there was only about 4 pieces that had some chicken the others were just fried dough. General tso no spice or kick just bland. Crab Rangoon 2 had nothing. 82.00. What a waste.
The plate all so dirty and tea pot and tea cup so dirty. we ordered some stir fried beef. But less beef but a lot of veg.. the rice is not taste good. also there were was like 5 bite pieces of the beef . We ordered string beans and they never arrived . Made us DIARRHEA .
The food was nice but I hated our service. A Chinese old lady who seemed to work at the restaurant talked to me in Chinese in the bathroom. And our server was the worst. He couldn’t speak English that he failed to answer questions I had. He also didn’t listen to us and left our table in the middle of me asking questions. We waited 20 minutes to ask for another cups of water. After the waiter returned to my table with my card, I kept the check under my arm but the waiter took it away from me. I said I didn’t sign it yet but he walked away with it. It was such an weird experience.
I had a terrible experience on Valentine’s Day. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated right away. We ordered soup dumplings, pork belly bao, spicy crispy chicken, and roasted duck noodle soup, planning to order more once we finished since we were really hungry. However, aside from the soup dumplings, nothing was good. The crispy chicken looked overcooked, possibly fried in old oil, and the duck noodle soup was inedible. I took a few bites and had to stop—it tasted bland and almost made me sick. We ended up leaving the noodles untouched and lost all our appetite. The only thing we ate was some plain rice with a little chicken. We mentioned to the server that the noodles weren’t good, but she didn’t seem to care. Instead, she brought us the check with a 20% tip already added, which felt frustrating. While it wasn’t the server’s fault that the food was awful, she showed zero effort to ensure our satisfaction or even ask if there was anything that could be done. It was especially off-putting that she included the tip without addressing the issues. Maybe she assumed we wouldn’t tip since we barely ate, but we would have tipped if she had done her job well. The table next to us also left their food untouched, which made me wonder if the food was just that bad. After I got home, I started throwing up, and I’m definitely not coming back.
First of all, soup was cold with no taste. Had to ask server to warm it up. Calamari had a weird smell. Black pepper beef was the only dish was okay (not like before). Custom service is below average. They did not serve water either. I would not recommend this place at all based on how low the quality of foods has become over the years.
