Was Kunden über Mimi Cheng's sagen
Mimi Cheng's is known for fresh, flavorful dumplings, especially the monthly specials and Thanksgiving dumplings. The scallion pancake and spicy dan noodles are also popular. Some find it overpriced compared to other dumpling options, and service can be slow at times.

Great space, amazing taste!! We get these dumplings online all the time and they are so easy to make AND incredibly tasty- perfect for the whole family!!
Just had a fabulous meal at Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings, and I’m already planning my next visit! Started off with the Scallion Pancake, crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of greasy goodness. The Spicy Dan Noodles were perfectly cooked with a kick that’s bold but not overwhelming. And of course the star of the show is the Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings. They’re everything you want in a dumpling, plump, juicy, and packed with flavor. It’s easy to see why this spot is a local favorite. Whether you’re a dumpling aficionado or just looking for a tasty bite, you’ve got to check out Mimi Cheng’s.
This was my first time here. I ordered the March special: March special x FINI Pizza: a medley of our favorite FINI pizza toppings with locally-sourced Italian sausage, pepperoni, roasted shallots, mozzarella, parmesan cheese, and herbs with a side of housemade pizza sauce. 8 dumplings, pan-fried. The dumplings were delicious! They had so much flavor. Please consider adding this to your regular menu! My only complaint is that the drink selection was lacking.
Despite having to drive anywhere from 30-45 minutes to enjoy them, Mimi Cheng’s dumplings are without question, the best dumplings I’ve ever had! They’re incredibly fresh, the portion size is perfect and the excitement of wondering what next month’s special flavor will be is hard to compete with. My personal favorite are the Emmy Burger dumplings!
Sat down for a some dumplings this past week and they were absolutely incredible. I had the traditional pork pan fried, they were moist flavorful and amazingly fresh! The special sause with them was so good! The best part of the meal was the November dumpling, a Thanksgiving dumpling! This was by far the best dumpling I have ever had! I am usually not a fan of cranberry sauce, but this stuff pulled the whole dumpling together and made it even better!! I will most certainly be back!
In general, I eat a lot of seafood and vegetable dumplings. A small bit of meat dumplings here and there. Dumplings are one of my food groups. It is really hard to find a good clean simple and flavorful vegetable dumpling. This is the best I’ve had in nyc. Reminds me of my grandmothers. I really like how the ingredients aren’t also mushed together, you can really taste and see the vegetable that you’re eating. The crispy cabbage salad with the subtle, light but flavorful dressing is not to be missed! Pairs excellent with vegetable dumpling! As far as the price, it’s in East Village, everyone has to pay their rent and utilities, small mom and pop looking location, made by hand, great quality tasting ingredients, perfect in my opinion, so completely worth it! So above is my first review from about a week ago. I was in the neighborhood again and enjoyed them so much the first time decided to come back and get the same thing. Unfortunately, we’re not the best dumplings. They were cold and still raw so asked them to be reheated. Three came back slightly broken and were still raw and cold, which was a bummer. The dumpling sauce also tastes different. The cabbage salad lacked the amount of dressing from the first time. I really want to love this place because they have good items but need to work on consistency. My first visit was 5 out of 5 stars for food. My second visit was 1 out of 5 for food. So I am changing it to 3 stars. Took off a star second time for service since the guy was nice but seemed to be more concerned with his phone than food.
The spot to get dumplings for a quick fixed lunch or dinner. The quality is always guaranteed. Delicious dumplings with all kinds of flavors. The portion is perfect, on the menu you can also find soup; veggies to pare with your dumplings. The place has decent space for dine in; not like usual nyc restaurants tiny and crowded.
I had the signature dumplings, juicy and hot! The spicy dan dan noodle is way too spicy, can’t taste any other flavour such as sesame oil and peanut sauce. The 12 hour organic chicken soup is a bit disappointing, doesn’t taste chicken soup really...tastes more like carrots and corn soup.
Nice ambience, cute little place. Service was friendly! However, most importantly food was quite average. We got chicken and vegan dumplings, did 50/50 with them and got them fried. Chicken was ok, veg wasn’t bad. They have some special sauce which was good and made dumplings eatable. Dumplings themselves could have been much more flavourful! Not a lot of options to choose from. We’ve had way better dumplings in NYC. Got their house made iced raspberry tea, which was mediocre. Prices were fair though. Would not come all the way for their dumplings!
Just okay in my opinion. Hole in the wall vibes. Overpriced, knowing you can get cheaper and more authentic dumplings elsewhere in the city. The spicy Dan noodles were also not at all what you’d expect. I do appreciate them trying to be to be creative with their dumpling specials - It was Cacio e Pepe when we went.
Really has gone downhill the past few years - dumplings not fresh, prices are outright silly ($15+ dumplings), rude staff, sporadic hours, and out of random items (especially the specials) even when not busy at all. A couple of years ago I would have put this among the best dumpling spots in the city and well worth the price. Now I'm just giving up.
The Mimi Cheng’s flavored dumplings were very juicy and I enjoyed them. I was disappointed in the Pork & Chive. They were not as juicy as the chicken and the triangular shape kept opening up. Dipping sauce was good, but not great. It was a little heavy on the vinegar and it looked like there was chili oil, but I didn’t taste any spice. Prices are a little on the high side even for the location. I like that you can see them being handmade there but it was underwhelming for me.
I think because I might've had such high expectations that I was very let down. The interior of the shop is cute and simple. You order at the counter and the food is brought to you when it's done. When I came, there were only two people working but it got a bit busy, so service was a bit slow. I got their August special: the scallion pancake burger. I saw this on a Tiktok and really wanted to try, but was very let down. The scallion pancake didn't really taste like a scallion pancake (there were no aromatics) and it was soggy (not crispy at all). I think they also put too much sauce so it overpowered any other flavors in the burger. Overall, I thought it was really salty and I wouldn't recommend paying $17 for it. I would say though, that they are more known for their dumplings, so maybe try those?
This review applies to both locations. I’ve visited each location twice; my first time at leach location I had the monthly special and one of the dumplings from the regular menu. The monthly specials are always really good, but I do not like the dumplings from the regular menu.... the last two times I’ve stopped by, I just got an order of the monthly special and then went somewhere nearby for dessert. The sides are ok, but are very pricey. The dumplings are actually pretty pricey too. It’s fun to watch them being handmade up at the front, and their house dipping sauce is fantastic, but I can’t really recommend anything other than the monthly special. My favorite monthly was the Emmy burger collaboration! I wish all the dumplings were like this. The buratta meatball dumplings were also really good, and the lunar new year lamb dumplings were amazing. This month there is a French onion soup dimpling and I’d like to try that. So again, the specials are fun, interesting, and delicious, but you’re better off going to Chinatown if you want high quality pork or veggie dumplings and you’ll get them there for cheaper.
The service can be disorganized and slow at times. It took 30 minutes for my dumplings to be served the last time I went. The dan-dan noodles are okay at best. It's interesting that they use soba noodles. I think it works, but definitely different than your usual dan-dan noodles. The dumplings were good, not great. Overpriced compared to Vanessa's nearby. Mimi Cheng's dumpling skins are thinner than average Chinese dumplings. Overall, a place worth visiting once or twice. Would not become a regular here.
So beyond disappointed with this place! The 12 hour chicken broth I ordered literally tasted like water with zero flavor. It also didn’t come with shallots as advertised and literally had two meatballs. To make matters worse as I was forcing it down because it was $20 I noticed a hair at the bottom of the cup. will never ever return and feel so ripped off and grossed out.
A restaurant with seating that does not allow little kids of paying customers to use the restroom. C'mon man! Seriously? Update after seeing the owner’s response - you clearly knew about this issue and there’s another parent leaving similar review on your establishment.
I used to love getting takeout / delivery from here, but I just ordered delivery of steamed pork dumplings and they arrived literally raw on the inside. The worst part is we did not notice until eating a few dumplings. They did apologize and refund the order, but this should still never happen at a restaurant.
