really cute storefront with lots of merch and coffee products. the drip was fine. i liked the dog sculptures scattered on the floor.
“Actually amazing” would annoy me if it weren’t a literal reaction for this Stumptown. Delicious drinks like the honey-ginger latte. Beautiful, civilized, comfortable space with paintings by a professional artist on the wall, wood fixtures, and cut glass windows, warm lighting. If you’re a TikTok addict who doesn’t use headphones or an influencer—stay away! Some of us like having an outpost of grown up coffee shops in the 2020s wasteland.
***Check out the Bathroom Peeper Hole. You won’t be disappointed*** Delicious coffee, amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, and comfortable seating. This is one of the best coffee shops I have ever been in. They even have free water and sparking seltzers on tap. Definitely give this place a visit.
Strong ristretto espresso with fruity and earthy tones with more lingering flavor (so slightly higher quality beans even for a more mid-range price). Atmosphere was amazing with ample space and standing tables, giving a more authentic European coffeeshop vibe. Highly recommended if you want to find a new casual coffeeshop to try.
Enchanting coffee shop. Beautiful ambiance. I came here yesterday while I was visiting the area, searching for coffee- something distinct, a little fun, curious. Most coffee spots I looked up in the vicinity seemed to blend into one another, except Stumptown, so I decided to give it a try. The store was really stunning upon walking inside, resembling a train station from the 19th century. The vibe was warm, welcoming but quaint and peaceful. Nothing is feeling rushed. The decor was absolutely beautiful, even their merch looked upscale and high end, and something special to Stumptown. There was even a small area to peruse little coffee and espresso gadgets: bialetti, aeropress, etc. which I haven’t seen too frequently before. Menu states all drinks are made with oat milk unless stated otherwise. I ordered the seasonal sugar & spice latte (iced) which was delicious, creamy, but hits you with an impactful amount of nutmeg. Never tried anything like it before. Caffe mocha tasted a bit just like mocha, however still tasty. For food, I ordered a cheddar and chive scone, an almond croissant, and a ham and Gruyère croissant. The cheddar and chive scone was dense and moist. There was a soft crunch on the exterior and pillowy interior, and it was a sizable scone. It was mild; not too salty nor overpowering. The ham and Gruyère croissant had sesame seeds on the outside which was a nice touch. Upon taking a bite, this croissant blew me away! There’s a million layers that are perfectly buttery, and plenty of ham and Gruyère (both which seem high in quality, and sliced very thickly) swirled through the core. The almond croissant was another visual stunner, another excellent choice. Delicate and crisp with a smooth and creamy almond flavor. All of the croissants in the window looked divine! I had only wished their variety for drinks, like flavors, toppings, etc. was more clear in their menu. As someone who’s not very familiar with coffee culture it felt a little bit unapproachable. However, the staff was very kind and pleasant and I’m sure could answer any questions one might have! If I lived in the area, I’d be back to try more. If I find myself in downtown Brooklyn again, I will absolutely return. A nice experience! I think whether you’re looking for a casual, quick coffee, or if you’re very into coffee culture and that’s your hobby, this is a spot you will enjoy. Wonderful spot for dates, as well.
OLD WORLD CHARM COFFEE ESTABLISHMENT ☕️ If Stanley Kubrick had a coffee shop it would look like this. It’s dark, cozy and nicely laid out. The atmosphere has some deco old world vibes and it’s a great place to relax with a cup of coffee. The line can get long on a busy morning but once you have your coffee in hand, all is well. Delightful place on Pacific. Good pastries 🥐 Great coffee ☕️ Highly Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Delicious coffee and a truly stunning interior. It’s in a beautiful building with a spacious and bright indoor space with airy seating when you first walk in and then further seating in the back. There’s also a few stools and a table for outdoor seating. Definitely worth a visit for the coffee and the views!
Coffee? Latte? Non-dairy milk? Croissant? Coffee Beans? Snacks? Any kind of tea? Sure! ABSOLUTELY!! One the greatest spot to get a fantastic coffee and start your day or have a break! Sincerely recommended! Staff is above and beyond! So friendly, fast as a space shuttle. and client oriented. Space is clean and cozy with a lot of pictures all around.love it!!
Really great set up at Stumptown. Eclectic Mahogany themed bar & counter tops. It definitely has a different feel when you walk in. Their coffee is good, it’s strong and the blend has a good flavour. The milk is a little heavy on top, it’s not completely mixed all the way through so you do get a little bitterness in the last third. Overall though it’s a good 8/10 cup.
Came again and they still did not have coconut milk but the place is pleasant and nice. A hidden gem in Cobble Hill, features boho meets shabby chic inside (there is a nice dark seating area in the backroom with mysterious vibes) and a cute semi outdoors area right before the entrance. The matcha latte was on a more expensive side for the neighborhood, but well done and without a sweetener. I wish they had coconut milk option.
Four stars for adding cream to my coffee. I am not sure if I took the wrong cup, but I ordered a black coffee with 1 sugar and a shot of espresso. I received a coffee with cream and no sugar. A red- eye they called it. I will return and try again. I did like their coffee- the flavor was robust - and exactly why I walked out of my way before work. Very nice, clean space with lots of seating. Not far from downtown and a better alternative to Starbucks!
Beautifully decorated coffee shop with pretty solid espresso-based drinks! I tried one of their seasonal specials, the salted maple latte with whole milk. It was good, though I do feel like the flavors could have been amplified a little more. I’m always very fond of specialty lattes that really pack a punch. It’s a nice, quiet area for dining in and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Relaxing location nestled behind a relatively non descript facade. Nice space with plenty of seating in the front and back. The back seating area includes a skylight and also features a small art gallery. There is a complimentary water fointain offering both flat and sparkling water. My only criticism is the relatively loud volume of the music, which feels contrary to the tranquil environment of the space.
I visited Stumptown coffee roasters and while the building itself is truly iconic, the experience inside sadly didn’t live up to the charm of its exterior. Once you learn about the building’s history, it feels almost heartbreaking to see such a legendary space turned into a very ordinary coffee shop. The interior feels unfinished — minimal, but not in a thoughtful or intentional way. It lacks warmth, atmosphere, and any sense of character that the space truly deserves. Sitting there, I couldn’t help but imagine how much better it would serve as a boutique wine bar or a classy fine dining spot — something that honors the building’s story. As for the coffee, I ordered a cappuccino, which arrived slightly cold and tasted just average — no better or worse than any other coffee shop in the city. Would I return for coffee? Honestly, probably not. It’s one of those places that looks great from the outside — the kind you might snap a quick Instagram Story of on a rainy autumn day — but once inside, it just doesn’t offer much beyond that.
Cozy coffee shop with a lot of potential, but a lot to improve, in my humble opinion. They could have so much more tables and seats with the space they have. The guy at the cashier was not friendly at all during my order, no need to give details. And the last thing, today you can't afford not having at least one gluten free option at your establishment. The coffee was great by the way.
