Amazing spot in Old Town Alexandria! The molcajete was delicious and the shrimp were full of flavor. I also had the One and Only margarita and it was spectacular. Went with two friends and we all loved it. Great food and great atmosphere — definitely coming back.
We ordered a Molcajete for 2 people and it was a lot of food. It was very tasty, came either rice, beans, tortillas, meat, chicken, shrimp, and veggies. The salsas were great. I really enjoyed it. Javier our server was amazing, very friendly.
The food here was delicious. While walking down King street, I was looking for something to eat and I’m glad I chose this place! Eating outside was a relaxing experience. The inside was nicely decorated as well. The service was great and our server was friendly and attentive. My husband said the wings were delicious coming from a Mexican restaurant. This place would be on my list to return to when in the area!
This restaurant is a gem right in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. The decor blends a modern style with vibrant details that create a cozy and energetic atmosphere. The service is attentive from the start, with friendly staff always ready to recommend the best options on the menu. The food is excellent: the tacos, margaritas, and bowls all have an authentic and fresh flavor, clearly made with quality ingredients. Each dish is beautifully presented and has that urban touch that makes it stand out from other places in the area. The music and overall vibe make it perfect for a night out with friends or a more intimate dinner. Definitely a spot you’ll want to return to again and again.
I was at the bar with my friends yesterday. It was a completely pleasant experience. The margaritas were 10/10, the staff was very friendly, and the food was the best
My family and I visited here on New Year's Eve. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our server, Javier, was friendly, kind, fast, and knowledgeable about the menu. The kitchen and the bar had our food and drinks out in less than 25 minutes. I enjoyed my visit and would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Update 4/12/25 : Another great time with the family. The margaritas are great! Note: For families looking for a sensory friendly environment, just a heads up- it can be loud and crowded here at night.
We had a great time at Urbano on a casual Monday night. Fantastic service, Dania took great care of us! The margaritas were perfect, my girlfriend loved the mango marg and the beef enchiladas, and I thought the Cadillac margarita was perfectly balanced and the combo beef and shrimp fajitas were delicious. The queso blanco also had a great flavor. Can't wait to come back and try the One and Only marg!
I love this place so much, I had to come back. The atmosphere is nice and you can feel the positive energy as soon as you walk in. The food was prepared quickly both times I came here, no complaints. I had the Shredded Beef Burrito with chili sauce and the meat was juicy, tender, and flavorful. The chili sauce wasn't too spicy so I could still enjoy the notes of other flavors in the sauce. The seafood burrito was also delicious with cheese sauce on top. Appetizers and drinks were 10/10. Everything here tastes great, I highly recommend.
Good experience, everyone in very friendly staff, good atmosphere for Mexican food, only that I ordered some nachos that although they were delicious I got several large pieces of fat
We stopped at Urbano for brunch while biking. The chicken tortilla soup, chip/salsa, and breakfast burrito were awesome. Not tl mention the tequila 🤪. Javier was just excellent!!
Delicious food and atmosphere!! Music was great which set the tone. We decided all they needed was a dance floor for people to work off the calories!! Great place to visit if you're in the area.
Great great restaurant to enjoy with friends. Food is good. I wish the pork belly tapas had more belly, it did not feel like enough food for the price. The el Dorado cocktail is sweet and delicious. Staff were attentive and quick.
I ordered the Masterly Meatless Steak fajitas! When I say this was the best steak substitute I’ve ever experienced, it was amazing. According to the menu, this meal is 37g of Protien and 240 calories. The tortillas were freshly made. I was thoroughly impressed. Thank you Chris! You were a very attentive server! We’ll be back.
The food at the place was really good. I went recently with my friends, and the service from our waiter Sebastián was excellent — very charismatic and attentive. 10/10 recommended.
The food here is incredible, location amazing, cocktails great, energy so fun. Today Steve and Henry greeted me with open arms for happy hour (best part of the day). Bartenders great, I notice that Rock is always on point with drinks, service, and never relaxes for moment. The staff here is always always hustling, doing more than they need to be doing, and overall seem passionate about the industry and quality of the restaurant. Thanks for a great dinner and wonderful staff Urbano (management sure knows where to find the good ones). Special thanks to Steven especially for the halibut recommendation, I would have eaten 500 of them, and extra homemade hot sauces were incredible as always!
My girlfriend and I had a great experience at Urbano 116. We parked in a nearby parking garage and paid about $16 to park. The salsa options were very good and the chips were fresh. We both ordered fajitas and they were very good. They came with 4 side tortillas each, rice, beans, veggies, and guacamole. The portion sizes were ok, but it was a little pricey for the amount of food you received.
Went out for brunch to urbano I got to try the Xmas special drinks I highly recommend the old fashioned it was great, the atmosphere and decor looks amazing to take some pictures with friends and family!!
I loved the frozen margaritas! Highly recommend just the classic. My aunt and I shared the chicken tacos which were so so delicious. The green sauce was the perfect amount of spicy as well. Also, the cheese empanada was perfectly cheesy and saucy so I highly recommend that as well. Otherwise, perfectly satisfied by the margaritas and chips. The chips we’re actually the highlight and had to hold myself back from eating like three bowls.
Urbano 116 is a must-visit! The tacos al pastor are on point, and the frozen margaritas are absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is great, making it a perfect spot for a night out with friends or a casual dinner. Highly recommend!!
Great atmosphere. Franklin was an awesome server and bartender. The food was fantastic. We had the crispy chicken and the chili. The one and only drink was on point. Good place for a date. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
My friends and I consistently go to Urbano 116. We love the lively atmosphere and giant margs. The food is delicious and always hits the spot. I’ve never had a complaint and it’s always on my restaurant list to go back
It was my first time here, and it was definitely a great experience. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, I would definitely come back. For a starter we had brisket taquitos and omgee delicious! Watch out for the habanero sauce if you're not too much of a fan of spicy. For entree i had the 72hr smoked short rib with the corn sauce and 10/10 for me. My friend had the salmon and she crushheddddd even after she couldn't eat no more. Fried ice cream was for dessert and that was great.
Visited Urbano during their happy hour on Tuesday and the drinks and food didn’t disappoint. However, happy hour is ONLY available at the BAR. So if you have a large party, I would suggest getting there early. Margaritas and sangrias were $7 .. who can beat that! It was our servers first day and she did an amazing job with keeping the drinks flowing! Will be back!
Our waiter was Javier and he was great!! He recommended the Molcajete and it was delicious! Very attentive and his service was great! Will definitely come back to see Javier again!!!
Loved the chips and salsa— complimentary chips and salsa are really one of my true weaknesses in life. But these ones were so worth it— super tasty. I wouldn’t recommend the taco salad as much. I had a bit of food fomo looking at the other guests dishes— burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and so on.
Hey hey! Back with another review! Let’s get into it!! We love a great Mexican spot and what makes this one even greater is that it’s black owned! Yassss! Love that! They have a pretty full menu with a lot of great sounding options. The vibe in the restaurant was nice and they also had a great playlist to add the evening. This place also has outdoor seating as well if that is something that interests you. We started the night with the free table chips and two different salsa options. Then it was on to the drinks. They have three different drink sizes….regular, grande and the one and only! I loved that concept. I went with the grande regular margarita. For my entree, I decided to get the seafood burrito with rice and black beans! Everything was delicious! I will definitely be back!!
The second Urbano location I have tried. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and took advantage of Taco Tuesday. Delicious Tacos and excellent service. The atmosphere was welcoming, without the loud music (unlike the last Urbano I went to) and well decorated.
Javier is spectacular! Urbano is our favorite restaurant in Old Town. We love it when Javier is here. He is energetic, super friendly, efficient, and a sweetheart. The margaritas are outstanding and we love especially the fajitas. Javier makes us feel like family when we come and always is super welcoming. Thank you for all the delicious food and for the super friendly smiling treatment.
New favorite Mexican restaurant. Ground beef is perfectly seasoned. The Al pastor has the perfect blend of sweet and savory. The spinach and chicken enchiladas are complex and flavorful and I truly understand why they are award winning.
My boyfriend took me to Urbano for my first time for my birthday, and we had a great time. Javier was a fantastic server and went out of his way to ensure we had a nice time. We received our food in a reasonable time, and it was delicious. The size of the chicken quesadilla was much larger than expected (in a good way), and the octopus ceviche was excellent. The salsa was amazing. I definitely will be going back!
I had such a great experience at Urbano 116! The atmosphere is modern, vibrant, and cozy the perfect mix for a fun evening out. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and beautifully presented. Our server, Sebastián, was amazing super friendly, attentive, and made excellent recommendations from the menu. He really made us feel welcome and taken care of throughout the meal. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food, great vibes, and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I stopped by Urbano 116 with a friend and had a great experience from start to finish. The restaurant looked clean and well-run, and the food was fresh and full of flavor. One of the manager Sandra came by our table to check in and make sure everything was perfect. It was a really nice personal touch you don’t see often anymore. You can tell they care about both the food and the guests. Definitely recommend.
If I could give them more stars for the amazing service, I would have done so. Sandra, the manager was extremely kind. As also the waitresses. They set up a table for 14 people even though we didn’t have any reservation. The helped and they were so kind. Extremely recommended!
I celebrated my birthday here with friends and family, and overall, it was a great experience — the atmosphere and service were amazing! 🤩 However, I was really disappointed with how the cake situation was handled. When I arrived, I let the staff know I had two cakes — one regular and one ice cream cake — and they assured me they would store them properly in the fridge and freezer. Unfortunately, they didn’t follow through, and the ice cream cake completely melted. It was frustrating to lose a cake, especially after paying a $25 fee just to bring it. This really took away from what could have been a perfect celebration.
Dined at Urbano 116 for dinner. There was a good vibe and atmosphere when we walked in, as well as the smell of different dishes radiated throughout the restaurant. My companion had the fajita salad. We both expected the salad to have sautéed onions and peppers atop the chicken breast but was a little disappointed that these elements weren't there. I tried the short rib with the corn salad and potato puree. The short rib arrived in a timely manner but seemed slightly dry. The rest of the dish was spicy and amazing, so I do not want to take too much away from this dish. Overall, I would try more menu items from this establishment and return.
Excellent food and atmosphere, abysmal service, although I give them a slight pass as it was a very busy St. Patrick's Day weekend Saturday. Very slow and barely saw our server at all. Queso with chorizo was very good, a must-try, and prickly pear margarita was delicious and strong. Smoked pork belly and birria tacos were excellent as well, can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
I came here after visiting the Torpedo Factory. We were seated very quickly. We were quickly greeted with water and chips. The chips were light and easy not very filing. I ordered the lager and shrimp. The beer was light and didn’t overpower the flavor of the food. The shrimp were cooked to perfection too! I asked for hot sauce and was given three different kinds. I will definitely come back.
Good food. Nice, upscale atmosphere, fit right in for Old Town. Service was good. Really enjoyed their octopus and crispy Chipotle shrimp. The hot sauce trio also paired well with the food.
Nice location right on King St one block from the river. The food was decent. Al pastor in the taco's was pretty dry but the Birria tacos were good. The burrito was ok but could have used more filling.
I was visiting a friend in Alexandria's Old Town and we were looking for a place to have dinner. A lot places turned us away because we didn't have reservations. This Mexican restaurant however welcomed us to a cool table with a hip young vibe. The music was also very cool. I had the steak fajitas with beans and rice. I wasn't disappointed. My friend ordered the chicken tacos and was okay with it. Service was pleasant and we were asked more than once if we needed anything else. I'd say give this place a try, especially if you don't have reservations. It's right on King Street about a block from the water.
While strolling through Old Town Alexandria on my husband's birthday, he chose where we would eat. He chose this restaurant and it was a pretty good choice. The chips that come with the table were good and -- being a person that cannot do spicy food -- I appreciated that the salsa was good and NOT spicy! My husband had the spinach and chicken enchiladas and said they were pretty good. I had 2 soft tacos that were OK. The rice and beans were kind of bland. The margaritas also were not that great. The service here was outstanding and they do offer a military discount. The decor was quite interesting making for a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere.
Went here for brunch with my girl. I got the huevos rancheros and she got the breakfast chorizo pizza. Both were healthy serving sizes. Huevos were good but I’ve had much better didn’t love them. Breakfast pizza was delicious, wish I could have traded meals. Been here a couple times and never super impressed but good enough to come back and be satisfied.
The food was just okay, nothing particularly impressive. I found it to be on the pricier side, especially considering the average taste. I’ve had similar dishes at other restaurants with better flavor and quality for a lower price. Maybe the higher cost is due to the location, but overall, it didn’t feel worth it to me. Hard to get parking.
Slow service. Average food. Wasn’t blown away with our meal. The complementary chips and salsa was actually quite tasty tho.
Went here for a nice evening. It was alright. Pretty restaurant. Server was alright. Wasn’t super attentive but was ok. Chips were basic. The queso was very good. We also got the huge margarita and it was fun but nothing special. I ordered the octopus ceviche. There was barely any octopus/meat of any kind in it. I believe the octopus was fully cooked which was good but about an hour after consuming it I began having stomach aches. It’s been 2 days since and I’m still having stomach issues. The ceviche also was heavily mostly veggies and lemon juice and barely any salt so it was mostly just sour. I’ve had ceviche many times and this one just was a fail in several areas to me. Others at the table picked other meals and seemed to enjoy their dishes. So could be hit or miss.
Went to eat there with a party of 6 on Halloween. The host and servers are not welcoming and had weird attitudes. I had a reservations at 8pm that we were late to but my sister made one at 8:30pm. The host ignored that second reservation. They seated us at a table for 4 and added 2 seats at the end. We didn’t have enough water cups or utensils. Our waiter did not want to honor InKind since we were splitting checks and had to confirm with manager. He also spilled my cup of water into my food and did not apologize. After some moments of awkward silence, he asked if was okay. Did not tell everyone at the table that tip was already included. Food was okay.
Quick service and good music although a bit loud for a dinner table. Food was a disappointment, enchilada sauce tasted like it came out of a can. The top shelf marg was definitely over priced at $29 (Grande) for a drink that relies on a weak mix verses using fresh lime juice. Table set up and lighting gave the ambience of a middle school cafeteria. In all there are far less expensive places on King Street with better drinks and Texmex!
The food took soo long to come out. Ceviche was underwhelming. The molcajete was not enough for 2 people, it had so much sauce and vegetables. Won’t be back.
Wow what a bad experience, lost my appetite with the service I was given. Walked here at lunch on a Tuesday. I sat at the bar order a drink and asked the bartender what would she recommend from the menu that has STEAK. She recommend it the Texas platter $30+ I said are the ribs pork ? She said no sir, there are cow”s short ribs. Got the food in less than 5 min. I can tell the food was just microwave, and for my surprise I got served a nice rack of pork ribs. The bartender went to the side of the bar and just sat there on her phone for over 5 min, , I look around and the person supervising/hostess was also on her phone, at this point I can’t get any help. I had to got up and ask for the manager. Guess what… there was no manager on duty. I walked out the restaurant very disappointed and hungry. Crazy that employees don’t really care about giving good service as supposed to as part of their job. Sad times.
We used to love this place. Like, “plan the vacation around it” love. We moved away, came back on vacation, and figured we’d relive the magic. Instead, we apparently walked into the alternate universe version of our favorite restaurant where flavor retired and quality control called in sick. Our food somehow managed to be both burned and cold at the same time. That’s not culinary skill, that’s a science experiment. The ingredients tasted painfully plain, like they ran out of everything that makes food, you know… food. My fajitas? Just a sad slab of tough, reheated-tasting meat tossed with flavorless onions that tasted like someone yanked them straight out of the fridge and waved them near a grill. I’ve accidentally cooked better food half-asleep in my own kitchen. They did at least attempt homemade tortillas, which is adorable, but this batch turned out sticky and dense instead of fluffy. It honestly felt like someone forgot an ingredient and hoped we wouldn’t notice. Spoiler: we noticed. We also ordered a taco salad, and the meat, beans, and fried onions that were clearly supposed to be warm came out completely cold. Cold taco salad fillings really shouldn’t be a thing. Ever. The one shining moment? The posole was actually good. So congratulations to whoever is responsible for that. Please give them control of the rest of the kitchen. We genuinely wanted to love this place again, but this visit was… rough. Like “what happened to you guys?” rough.
