We love Gen KBBQ, I have been to so many kbbqs throughout the years in SoCal, and so far, Gen has been our most liked, especially since it is not too cheap but nottooo expensive like other places I have eaten to mot of their restaurants, San Diego, Cerritos, Glendale, etc, and we had ups and downs but interesting that this particular location at Alhambra offers Tacos meat with tortillas and Salsas. I definitely recommend you try it out if you are under a budget, and hopefully, you get a great server since this makes a huge difference to have a good time.

We were there today for a late lunch service by Angel was AMAZING. He took care of us and was VERY NICE, and the food was very yummy, we did the premium menu and WOW its WORTH IT. The ONLY thing I did noticed that Floors are very slippery and the people that clean your table dont say excuse there arm/hands are all in your face. Other than that everything is GREAT! Once again Angel is AMAZING I saw that he was taking care of a couple of other tables never stopped checking on us with a smile. Will be back to this Location.

Let's get to the price rundown as of December '25: AYCE dinner is $30.95 each Bottomless Cokes are $2.98 each Premium meats (like marinated short rib) is a $20 upgrade each person. Things to know: 30-40 minute wait for a table for two on a weekday night at dinner time, and that was a few minutes longer than our initial estimate. Our main server didn't come around too often during the rush, but we flagged down other servers and they were helpful. Two hours to eat everything you can. Don’t skimp on banchan. I wish we'd asked for more sauces and dessert. Get all of the kimchi, mandu, jalapeño, pickles, rice cake, salad, etc. as you can! For the main course we tore through beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi (it’s not spicy at all), garlic chicken, ramyun, and bulgogi fries. Prepared items we tried, ramyun and fries, were on the cold side. I read a lot of reviews here on Google mentioning how the floors felt greasy/slippery and they are all not exaggerating. It’s really noticeable, like you're going out grease-skating so wear appropriate footwear. Long-ish wait, oily floor and some cold fries prevented this from being a perfect experience. Great food tho, come hungry!

We had a decent dining experience here that was similar to other Gen bbq that I’ve been to. The menu is strangely hard to find outside of the restaurant as it’s not listed on the website. QR codes are at every table that lists the options for meats. Total wait time was about an hour on a Saturday night for a table of 7 and we were seated at a table for 6 with an end chair. It was a bit cramped but was manageable if you organize the dishes that have been used by stacking them. Our favorite meats were the center cut marinated short rib and the premium wagyu for beef and the Hawaiian pork belly for pork. The premium garlic sauce was a great pairing with them as well. Service was very quick for the first hour we were there and then tapered off a good bit so order your food initially in a large quantity to keep them coming. We primarily stuck to the premium item menu for ordering but the items we got from the standard menu were also good. It can definitely get loud especially upstairs so be mindful of that.

I was craving Korean bbq and this spot popped up and my searches. This is a solid Korean Bbq spot. I just ordered their basic all you can eat menu and ordered some a la carte items. The quality of meats were great and it was delicious overall. The cooking experience was great(constant grill changes) and their menu has a lot of items. There wasn’t as many sides(missing potato salad) as compared to other Korean bbq spots I’ve been to, but still enough for lunch. Overall it was a great dining experience. I’d definitely come here again. Parking is limited to street also or nearby structures.

Nice modern vibes. Music is high energy, I didn’t mind. My party thought was too loud. Leg room may be a problem for some. There is a public parking structure nearby, a plus. 4 hours free. The foods were delicious! Quality met. 4 yrs n under eats free. The macaroon ice cream sandwiches are not included, can be purchased additionally. Saturday and Sunday is dinner menu all day.

The wait time is reasonable during weekdays. I went there this evening and got seated in 15 minutes. The food is delicious. I like the salad and and Beef. It takes forever for the pork to get well cooked, I will not order pork again. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. They try their best to know what I need and what my concern is.

We went to GEN on a Monday night around 8 pm with a group of 5 people. The wait was only around 15 minutes so it wasn’t bad. I have a soy allergy so I asked for a table with 2 grills (since we were a party of 6 anyways) and they sat us at a booth with one grill, but our server said they did have tables with 2 grills available. The menu is pretty simple, and we did opt for the premium menu. They didn’t have 2 of the meats listed on the premium menu so that was a bummer, since it’s $20 extra. The wagyu was exactly the same as beef belly , literally looking and tasting the same, which is disappointing. I would say opt for the $30 menu, because the additional items seem to be most often out of stock. The meat quality was ok overall. This wouldn’t be my top 3 recommendations to anyone, but it is a cheaper eat specially for all you can eat. They were also out of some of the sides as well, and some of the meats ran out while we were ordering. The service was great, so I would say we have no complaints there.

They have good selections of meat, but it will genuinely be the worst service you’ll ever experience! We had a female Asian server sat at the second floor on the right side in the back she was extremely forgetful and seems to have been ignoring our table. We waited about 40 minutes for our meat to arrive and almost burned ourselves from how hot the pan had been already by the time the meat arrived. We received our appetizers after the meat and they were cold to the touch so we didn’t eat them. We were not rude and always asked and received things with a please and thank you. We had to ask several different employees for condiments or to put another order in and they’d bring it within a few minutes. We’ve had this happen a couple time with different servers at this location, but genuinely today was the worst experience of them all. I’m a server myself and can use my own experience to say this is genuinely one of the worst gen kbbq you could go to. Idk if it was a discrimination issue but genuinely the manager need a stern talk with their employees.

Service was ok only for the fact that they had one single server tending to 5+ tables for an hour until the rest of the staff decided to show up and actually help him out. When we sat at our table the sides that were on the table looked like they were sitting out for a while, the kimchi was dry and the bowl it was in looked stained from how long it was sitting out. Another thing I’d like to point out is the portion sizes, each serving was maybe a 1/4 of a cup and definitely not worth the price compared to other KBBQ spots I’ve been to.

We’ve been loyal customers of Gen KBBQ for years, but our recent visit to Gen Q in Alhambra, CA was extremely disappointing. Our server, Jeremiah P, was unfriendly and dismissive to our table while being polite to others. As Asian customers, we felt singled out and uncomfortable. This made celebrating a special occasion, like a birthday, completely ruined. If you’re planning to bring your family or celebrate a birthday here, I strongly advise against it. Management needs to address this and ensure all guests are treated fairly.

Recently visited this establishment, and unfortunately it was the worst Korean barbecue experience I’ve had so far this year. The floors throughout the restaurant—including the dining area and restrooms—were extremely slippery due to grease buildup, which seemed to be caused by poor or inadequate ventilation. It felt unsafe and should be a serious concern for management. The food quality was also very disappointing. The meat was poor in quality, and nearly all of our dishes were chipped, which reflects a lack of attention to cleanliness and basic standards. Service was lacking, but I don’t fully blame our waiter, as they appeared overwhelmed and covering too many tables. This seems more like a management issue than a staff issue. At approximately $50 per person, I expect much higher standards in safety, food quality, and overall experience. Unfortunately, this restaurant did not meet those expectations

Disappointed with Last Night’s Visit – Poor Service for a Big Group My friends and I have been long-time customers of Gen KBBQ for years, and we’ve never had any issues before. Unfortunately, last night’s experience was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. We came in with a group of seven, expecting the usual good service and portions. However, our server seemed inattentive from the start. He never offered us refills on our drinks so we had to keep reminding him, which is something you shouldn’t have to do at a restaurant known for its service. What made things worse was how long it took to get our food. Every set of meat we ordered took about 10-15 minutes to arrive, which completely slowed down the dining experience. And when it did arrive, the portions were laughably small for a table of seven adults. It felt like we had to keep flagging him down just to get enough food for everyone, which completely defeats the purpose of an all-you-can-eat KBBQ. To top it all off, before we were even done eating, the server came to our table and told us our time was up and that we could pay our tab “whenever we pleased” even though we were still hungry and clearly still waiting on food. That felt incredibly rushed and dismissive, especially for a large group that hadn’t even been seated that long. We’ve always enjoyed Gen in the past, but this experience left a bad taste. If management is going to limit dining times or cut back on portion sizes, they need to communicate that upfront not rush guests out mid-meal. This visit was a huge letdown. Not going to lie, we did leave a minimum tip as a result of this.

We stepped in at 2:40pm to get lunch but were told that price needs to determined by the time we got seat. As the restaurant lack of staff, service speed was very slow, we got seats at 3:10pm and had to pay $10 extra per person for dinner price. Food was okay. Nothing impressive. No corned cheese.

Food was good, but the service is horrible. "All you can eat for 2 hours," they said. But you're stuck waiting for 10-20 minutes intervals for them to bring you 2 plates of meat and another 10minutes to finish cooking. For 5 people!? Lol. Our table of 5 literally had 2 bites per plate every time! 20-30 minutes to receive and cook our food and done in 2 minutes. 1 grill for 5 ppl, 30 minutes to wait for 2 more plates.... *sigh*. Not sure if they're severely understaffed but this is ridiculous. They should say "All you can eat in 2 hours IF WE CAN GET TO YOU...EVENTUALLY."
