The 806 is a wonderful place that has done wonders for the art scene in Amarillo. The coffee and teas are all wonderful. Food items are hot and fresh. If you're looking for a wonderfully quirky and artsy place to get coffee and chill, this is the place. They also run one of the longest running open mics in Amarillo and it draws in such a supportive and inspiring community of creators. This place is my favorite!
The pot head is my favorite drink. Cool atmosphere with outdoor seating. They also are open late and serve beer along with the occasional live band. Go support this local coffee shop on the historic 6th street.
The 806 is a fantastic place. They offer craft beer, your typical coffee house drinks, and also have very great food. They also have live music on a regular basis. If you're looking for something interesting to do, stop by. The crowd is typically in their twenties, but over the summer gets a lot of high school kids. Smoking is allowed on the patio, one of which is indoors.
this is a great place. The only issue was the man who took our order. He was rude and hateful.
Needed to switch things up from Palace coffee to finish my dissertation. Gave this place a try for two reasons: it’s open late and I love the responses they gave to the Karen’s, anti-maskers, and the angry gun guy. This place is super chill, good coffee, and the vibes make me feel like I’m back home in Austin. Will be coming back!
This is a wonderful coffee lounge on 6th street that features local artists art, has open mics regularly and hosts local bands. The drinks and food are really terrific. Also a nice place to have brunch and is usually quiet enough to study. Loved it.
Love this place. A rotating stock of delicious craft beers and wines that you can't find anywhere else, a killer dairy-free chai, plenty of tasty eats, and the best coffee in town (seriously, I've tried them all, extensively). Go check out the local art on the walls, see a wandering folk guitarist from Lichtenstein play a set, or just hang out and drink any of the aforementioned beverages.
Awesome atmosphere, great coffee, and friendly service. Best place I've stopped in Texas! Thank you ♥️ p.s. pretty sure the owner was drawing me while I had a massive upset stomach so I hope it turned out for a funny drawing.
The 806 is a cultural institution and popular hangout of the youth of Amarillo. If you are involved with the local creative scene at all, or if you have alternative-style friends, then you likely are already familiar with this place. They've got superb teas and coffee, surprisingly tasty meals like their bagel pizza and house hummus, and there's plenty of room for you and a group of friends to sit down and talk about anything. Outside is a smoking area, and they also serve alcohol, like mimosas. Also, the owner, Jason, is hilarious and witty. Just expect to be trolled by the staff if you do something stupid.
We filmed a documentary here, One Week Til Doomsday, and they were the most lovely people ever. Great beer too. Wishing y'all all the best. Happy yo see a local spot for lgbtq youth.
Very good coffee and delicious baked goodies. Will definitely stop by again!
One of the best places I've been... I love how comfortable it is in there. The coffee is good, and there's always laughs, my best friend found his new favorite bands through 806. I could go there any day! Amazing.
This shop is amazing. They bring in some incredible bands and offer great coffee, a fantastic beer selection and a menu with some truly incredible food. The pizza bagels are freaking amazing. This is the coolest place to be on 6th and the only place to be for great indie music and caffeine. Can't praise them highly enough
Barista made an amazing black mamba, the vibes, ambiance, and advocacy inside are top notch. Been traveling a lot for work and I’ve been to coffee shops in NYC, Columbus, LA, and Austin. This beats them all, Deserves more than 5 stars.
Beautiful and eclectic, this coffee shop is the embodiment of inclusivity and a meeting place for artists and creatives. The drinks have great variety and try have a God selection of food, not much celiac safe options but it doesn't take away from the experience. I've been coming here since 2012 and it has always been the cornerstone of forward thinking and community.
This little place is amazing. We just got hot teas to go. Full leaf tea with steamed milk was crazy delicious. Art was interesting. We checked out all of the rooms while we waited for our tea to steep. Fun place. If only the art could talk and tell us. We will come back on our next visit to Amarillo. Love that vibe!
This place is actually pretty great. Was really laid back, loved the atmosphere. Honestly, I was surprised to find hipsters even existed in Amarillo. Apparently they do though, and this must be their Mecca. In all seriousness though, the coffee here was great, the service was great, and if I ever happen to pass through Amarillo again I will definitely drop by a second time.
Have always loved this place their coffee is amazing and the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing to an introvert like myself
Awesome people here, both the workers and other customers. Intimate venue with live music. I ordered the vegan quinoa bowl with an americano and both were top notch 💯 10/10 would recommend.
First time here and absolutely loved the vibes!!!
Really nice and quaint coffee/small bites shop when we stopped by mid afternoon. The pizza bagel was good. I felt safe there.
Great coffee, made to order the way we like. Friendly service and good vibe atmosphere. Thursday Night was worth it. Just like the good shows/off strip in Las Vegas. Our local friend & business owner took us here. Best Stop so far on this trip, we'll be back! Giving brewmaster and 🌟 to Aubree, thank you @bonez_n_gabby @gabbys_kiss @badd_bonez
Great place for a chill breakfast and coffee. I had a dirty chai latte and an omelette and both were spot on. There are a couple options for gf peeps. Loved the vibe, cute plants and local artwork. Would highly recommend!
First time having eggs Benedict and it was good. The coffee is good and the atmosphere is perfect. It's an Amarillo must.
The coffee is amazing. The menu is really good. We went twice during our 3-day trip to Amarillo. The first time we went about 9 when they had a singer and the whole place had an amazing vibe since we arrived. We had a great dinner with great music. The had a chess board, so we played for a little. The beverages are really good too! I loved the pizza, the bagel, and pretty much everything. As a vegetarian I was amazed to find a place with such variety and good flavors in their menu. Top option in Amarillo. I would go back to Amarillo just to have another cup of coffee.
Incredibly nice and hard working employees, great atmosphere and selection of music, food and beverages. Able to access Internet and hang out with the local crowd is nice. Keep up the good work guys!! My husband left his phone there last night and a patron turns it in. This speaks volumes not only of this incredible little hideaway but for it's patrons as well. As my husband said five starts I isn't even close compared to the atmosphere, Three words come to mind friends, family, home.
I drove from Ouray Colorado to get here tonight found this vegan coffee shop and was hesitant because of all the comments that were negative. But here you can see I ordered four items the MP3, quinoa salad, hummus sandwich, and the chili. This is the best food I could have hoped for I enjoyed it so much and I think you will too
I didn't try any food this time, but my mom and I both had a hot mocha, and my wife had a hot pomegranate tea. And we all enjoyed them. It was all very tasty.
Coffee was great - they have some really unique coffee drinks. Service was nice. Vibe was chill. Art was cool. This was my first time in Amarillo and this place gave a great first impression of the town.
I never really eat anything when I come here, I just get hot chocolate and watch open mic night sometimes. It's very fun and a peaceful environment. There is free condoms birth control and narcan for anyone who needs it. Also a fair warning, there is artistic nudity on one of the walls. It doesn't bother me but it might bother some people.
Fantastically quirky and shamelessly weird, this has been one of the most interesting spots in Amarillo since they opened their doors. The beverages are top-notch, the menu for food is limited but tasty, and the environment couldn't be any better. There's fresh art on the walls every month - featuring local artists - and open mics on certain Wednesday evenings for the louder arts. 10/10 would recommend.
🖤🖤100% recommend🖤🖤 I absolutely LOVE this place!!! Every weekend I drive 2 hours to get coffee and bake goods to take home.. The food is absolutely amazing, Every time I go I try something new and I've never been disappointed, I am vegetarian In this place caters to every need that I have for my diet. You can tell that they really care and they don't cost contaminate anything..🥰 I can't even remember the last time I had dairy free brownies they're so good, I take so many to go.. The staff are so sweet and so kind, 🥰🖤they make the best coffee, The food is always so amazing!! I love the art it's always so fun to look at I love all of the creative artists that they have in the shop. This is definitely my top favorite coffee shops.🖤🖤🖤
Very good coffee and a fun atmosphere I enjoy hanging out there.
This artsy coffee shop shows art (the art other galleries won’t show), makes good coffee.
I performed at The 806 Coffee and Lounge on Wed Jun 19 and had a lovely time! They got a great music scene in Amarillo, and this seems to be a solid starting point to it! I've played other places, but this felt the most natural to me! They were on point and really helped grow the local music community in Amarillo TX! I highly recommend The 806 Coffee and Lounge
Why do I love the 806 Coffee shop & Lounge? It's simply the Best coffee vs any other coffee shop I've ever been to. The foodie menu is delicious 😋 too. My favorite hangout home away from is the 896 Coffee Shop & Lounge.
I love this place, and don't get here as often as I'd like. The atmosphere is great, kind baristas and excellent coffee/tea options. I miss the snow leopard white tea but that's okay. I hope they read this and have a great day💜
The 806 is a great place, not only for the coffee and food, but as well as a great community. The food is always excellent and the coffee is one of the best in Amarillo. The employees are eccentric in the best way and grant phenomenal service. The 806 does an amazing way of helping the local Art Community and houses a safe place for anyone and everyone to exist and enjoy themselves. They are constantly helping the SanJac community and hosting various events through the year. This business is overall an amazing fixture of Amarillo.
Love this place! Great atmosphere and delicious coffee. Thank you for supporting local artists, it's always fun to see all the unique pieces
The 806 is the spot to go if you want great local art, a chill vibe, and excellent drinks. It’s been a while since I’ve lived in Amarillo, but visited recently and was excited to see all that’s happening with new and creative ventures, especially on 6th, and especially how this place has evolved since it first opened years ago. It’s nice to see a place you would’ve loved to have in your hometown when you were a teenager thriving.
I frequently visit this coffee shop for its reliable quality and comfortable atmosphere. It's a popular spot for both solo visits and group study sessions. The coffee always hits the spot, and it's a great place to catch up with friends or just enjoy some quiet time.
The coffee is great, the food smells great, and the art and atmosphere really tie it all together. They have pieces of art for sale all over the walls. Each of these is intriguing and unique and, in my opinion, vastly underpriced. Get a drink and add something interesting to your art collection. Support local arts!
Definitely recommend this place ! coffee and breakfast taco 10/10 !!! and the girl was very nice !
A random road trip stop landed me here . This is one of those places you just can’t explain but should experience! Vibes vibes vibes ! Snagged a vegan quinoa tofu bowl , hit the spot . The portions aren’t out of control which I appreciate. 806 has got everything from coffee , tea , local events , bakery , grub & erotic local art !
4.7 rating .. a little dive coffee shop on Rt 66 .. the chili is very good and the breakfast taco was tasty. If you are in the area, stop by and try.
Amazing food, amazing drinks. My only complaint is the butter needs to not be refrigerated constantly. Makes spreading on bagels a chore.
Not only is this place a whole amazing vibe, the whipcream 🤤 and coffee are slap yo mama sooooo good. I tried a breakfast item (Eggie De Bennie) I hadn’t yet today and was blown away by. Had to come here and rave about it. The croissant was so flaky and perfectly crispy. Oh and just try topping the amazing pricing as well. You won’t be able to for the same quality!
Always a great place to go and have a coffee. The food items are delicious and it's always fun to stop by for the open mics here!
The two ladies working were so kind and professional. The weekend brunch was delicious! I will definitely return.
Visited while on a work trip from Olympia, WA. I had a traditional macchiato; the espresso shots were done well and it was served with a generous amount of milk foam, which is exactly what I wanted. The atmosphere was great, reminded me of some of the better indie shops from back home. It had a warm, inviting quality to it where I felt comfortable to just sit, enjoy my coffee, and reflect. The bottom line? I like good coffee and good cafés, and because of this I liked 806 Coffee + Lounge.
I’ve been coming here since I was 15 years old. I’m 33 now. This place has always felt like home. I visit every time I come back to town. It’s an amarillo staple and forever apart of my heart. I now feel like a tourist of my own hometown when I come here and the 806 is one of my first stops, always. Many things have changed over the years but this is a place that stays true to its roots. Amazing coffee, drinks, food and staff.
Tonight was my second visit since last year and I was quickly reminded why I loved this place so much. I enjoyed chips and salsa with my SO as a fantastic live band played surrounded by incredible art pieces on the walls. I’m not sure why anyone would be offended, or complain, about the art or the “dark and dingy” vibe of the place. Just a reminder!! Art is here to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed! (The art wasn’t disturbing at all, it was just some nudity and if you can’t handle that then go to the swing set outside of town). The artists are talented, the food came quickly, and the vibe was great. We decided on alcoholic beverages since it was about 9:00pm when we got there and I loved the selection and choices. It was a smaller selection but it didn’t matter because they had something for everyone. The chips and salsa were FRESH! And I loved that they were blue corn chips as well! On another matter, I was pleasantly surprised and thankful to see what this nice place has to offer. Not just food, drink, music, and art. But also protection and safety for others. I saw the previous review about the condoms on the counter. I think it’s extremely reasonable and it helps others live their lives safely. It’s not a “leftist” establishment. It’s a humane establishment. In a country we’re living in right now it’s a pleasure to visit such an open minded establishment that not only supports local artists but also those whos rights and lives are in jeopardy. I will be back, and I can’t wait to try more on the menu!
I recently moved here from Seattle & 806 Coffee is by far my most preferred option in town. They have a great atmosphere and large selection of local art throughout the restaurant. Always friendly service! The quinoa salad w/ feta or the eggplant hummus sandwich are my favorite meal options so far. Their rotating selection of cold brew or the “Pothead” iced latte are supreme. Extremely reasonable prices for the quality of ingredients in both the coffee and food too :)
I’ve lived here for two years and i’m only just now finding this place🫣 idk how i missed it for so long. The atmosphere is pretty comfortable and cozy, Very unique decor all around. The food is amazing i would highly recommend for vegans/vegetarians. So far i’ve tried the breakfast taco, Quinoa salad and the chilli. All three were soo good. The owner seems really considerate for some of the items and resources he provides in there i respect that so much especially for being in texas.
Such a Cool Place.. fantastic food.. great coffees ... Vegetarian Food huge bonus 😋
An Amarillo staple for a spot to hang out, meet up or catch some great visual or performance art. Great coffee, drinks and beer/cider options. Outdoor seating available.
A bastion of peace and enjoyment in a city otherwise derelict of such places. Great study environment with a cycling display of local art. Different coffee showcased daily, delightful cuppacino (the barristas all make perfect foam), and great selection of snacks and light foods. Prices are low and service is top notch. I recommend to anyone who needs to escape the duldrums of this cowtown. I wouldn't recommend any of the food. Just reheated pastries and sandwiches, which is pretty standard for coffee shops. Okay for a snack, I guess, but I'd rather get some 'real' food especially for the price.
While it is an incredibly small little building, they always have a particularly large crowd of people here most nights. Their menu is extensive and all vegan. One major problem is the parking situation however, since you'll need to park along the road and there are several bars in the area.
We were driving through Amarillo looking to find a vegan friendly restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. However, we did have to wait awhile for our food because the cashier was also preparing the orders. Although there was two other employees just standing around. Also, we couldn’t find a menu online anywhere. The food and atmosphere is good—I would recommend to anyone looking for healthier food on the road.
The place gives me mixed feelings. It's a coffee shop on hand, bar on the other. The atmosphere is trendy and possibly 'too hip' and borders the line of 'too much'. Given that, I do enjoy it, minus the smoke smell. The coffee is so-so depending on what you order. They do have a decent beer selection, so grabbing a nice beer and sitting with friends is enjoyable.
My wife and I stopped here late one night because there were few places of interest open after 9pm in Amarillo. I had a great white hot chocolate and my wife had an interesting hot tea (some sort of custom rice tea). We also shared a bowl of vegan chili. Nice atmosphere principally filled with local regulars. The walls are covered with art that I assume many of the local regulars created. The music was good, the food was great. Highly recommended if you're into a unique crowd and alternative decor.
The coffee here is great and probably the only place in Amarillo that has hemp milk. I get they are primarily a coffee shop so I'm trying not to hold this against them too much but being an all veggie place I expected there to be more vegan options. When I asked the girl there if they had any vegan pastries she directed me to something that was gluten free. (They don't have any vegan pastries at least they didn't when I went) more vegan options please!
The coffee was quite nice, although the service was not very friendly; I will say they did not go out of their way to be rude to me, as some of the other reviews have said. The local art is nice, although be aware there were some nude paintings prominently displayed, for you parents. They are not shy about what they support. In general, a nice - if not quirky - space with some downsides.
Nice place but staff is unfriendly. Guess it was my husband’s fault for referring to a female wait staff as “sweetie”. Shame on him. Didn’t know that was a mean word. However, instead of rudely saying “Don’t call me sweetie “ she could have just told him she would prefer not be called sweetie in a more courteous way as my husband was just being nice.
To agree with other reviewers, yea, the guy working the counter (who apparently is the owner?! WOW) sure likes to make you feel stupid! When I was ordering, I asked a couple simple questions, and I was treated like I was the dumbest person on earth. I was taken aback, and I almost said “Forget it, I’ll go somewhere else”, but decided to complete my order. I have to say, the food was very good, so good that I am giving this place three stars. Normally, customer service that’s this rude would warrant a bad review, but the food really was that good. The environment was fine otherwise.
Looking at other reviews, this might be the best vegan place in Amarillo, but... It's still not good. Atmosphere is cool/relaxed and is a nice place to relax. The food is mediocre at best. If you've been to other vegetarian/vegan places outside of Amarillo, this place won't meet expectations.
Not impressed. Maybe it's the lack of nearby competition but this place was impressive only in decor. We drove out of our way to seek out a place that provided vegetarian fare....and wish we'd saved our money. The tabbouleh.......was not. No flavor, just yuck. The vegetarian "chili" was embarassing. The pizza bagel was actually good. Service sucked - dispassionate and unwelcoming. We walked into an adjacent restaurant while leaving some in our party to give 806 a try. Wish we'd all gone next door. When we came back, we had the remainder of our drink in a cup and literally walked in the door, leaned over and told our party that we were ready to leave......when a twiggy young man ran over and informed us "You have to take that drink outside. No outside drinks." We follow rules......but his pr skills needed honing. We skipped the dessert we were going to buy for the kids and headed toward a more deserving business. Skip the 'tude at 806 and spend your money at Braceros next door.......who also has vegetarian options. And personality.
Cool atmosphere, love that they serve organic + fair trade coffee. Service, however, was horrifically slow for how not busy it was. I’m all for a relaxed, focused effort from staff, but there were customers who were clearly preferred over others and so they received their drinks way in advanced. As a barista myself, the service made me cringe. Bonus! my drink was bad.
Honestly the coffee was very meh. Got an iced peppermint latte and it was extremely watered down, basically coffee flavored water. Also ordered a breakfast bowl with quinoa and grilled avocado. The bowl was pretty dry and bland. Person who took my order seemed bored out of their mind and kept rolling their eyes every time I asked about something on the menu (keep in mind we were the only folks there at this time). Wish I could have given it a higher rating but I can't justify due to the poor food and service.
You can see their lack of professionalism from their response. I came out of my way to stop by the cute little coffee shop. I ordered their brunch Hangover Bowl. The guy brought the order with really runny eggs which is not my thing. I asked if he could cook the eggs a bit longer. He started at me as if I was requesting something disgusting and then told me he couldn't take it back. I then asked for it to be remade because I just can't eat the runny eggs. He stared again and eventually said he would just run the eggs back to cook them longer. By then, I was worried that something awful would happen to my food and said never mind, but he took it anyway. What a disappointment... I ate a bit of the chili but just left in frustration. I'd rather take the loss than deal with that.
The coffee was excellent, but this place is not my vibe AT ALL. I won't be back.
NOT family friendly! Pictures (portraits) of naked people everywhere! All the parts on full display. We try to support local places, but this was not a pleasant experience. Walked in with our 2 kids, ages 11 and 13, and turned right around and walked out, but not before they were exposed to filth.
We drove for miles to try this place. No one in this place had a mask on except the girl behind the counter, She actually said "you can wear a mask or you are welcome to leave." We left and drove to another coffee and tea restaurant. They welcomed us without any regulatory mandates.
Asked our waitress about a coffee shop and she told us this place was near. So we went in to get some coffee and check it out. It wasn’t the most welcoming vibe and after getting my drink it wasn’t good to me at all. Tried to “doctor” it up with their items at counter and it wasn’t doing it for me. I threw mine away and left to find something different.
I was super excited to try this place coming down Route 66 traveling across the country, but upon arriving I got super strange vibes from the very beginning… the man behind the counter was rude when I came up to ask for a key to the bathroom because there is a sign on the door that says to ask for it at the counter, but he replied to me by flatly & rudely telling me the door isn’t locked. I was just following what the sign said to do! The drink I got wasn’t even good. I honestly wouldn’t reccomend this place, I couldn’t get out fast enough. :(
The coffee was decent, but the old bitter guy running the place was not at all. He was very rude and almost made me walk out completely by subtlety insulting my friend and I. This is such a cool place, it’s a shame he made me not want to return.
Service with an attitude, very limited selection of food, which wasn't great. They microwave food and use supermarket bought tortillas. Chilli was bland at best. Tacos came with cold tortillas, and store bought chips. Drip coffee didn't come with milk nor was it offered. They have powder creamer. When paying they have options for tips starting at 25%. Ridiculous, considering their cold, unfriendly attitude. This place isn't worth it, find somewhere else to eat. There are better vegetarian options around.
Was really excited to try this local coffee place until they required masks. What happened to freedom of choice in our country? Guess the local business is doing too well to need segregate their customers although I didn’t see anyone In there so I’d suggest to ownership they rethink their liberal mentality in a conservative town in free country. Take your agenda to your own home
One star only because I can’t give zero. Walked in and the person behind the counter was on the phone and it was very clearly a personal call. After a few minutes of waiting we waved and gestured that we would like to order. He very rudely held up one finger implying that we needed to wait for him to finish his phone call so we turned around and walked out. Roaster or palace provides a significantly better product and atmosphere not to mention the customer service is completely out of this world compared to the absolute trash we were shown here. It’s sad they associate such horrible service with the area code of Amarillo.
They will get mad if you dont leave a tip lol
Walking in it’s a cute little spot! This was my first time coming in and I was excited I finally had to time to stop by! I soon was upset due to how the guy working the counter was speaking to me. He loved talking to me as if I was stupid! I even made a comment “wow, I just love how you’re speaking to me” he quickly apologized but then proceeded to talk down to me again! So I asked my husband to check us out as I said out loud He’s starting to upset me. As a business owner myself I would never talk to a costumer the way this man talked to me, silly question or not! I was really disappointed! To respond to his reply, i absolutely did not put my hand in his face. I was never disrespectful to this man in Anyway. I never rolled my eyes at him. I did not condescendingly say anything I was chuckling because I was so uncomfortable and in shock with the way that he was talking to me and you were extremely disrespectful! I never asked you anything about the beer its self! I only asked you if it was a beer and you were rude because I should have known it was a beer even though I’m at a coffee shop! You treated me like a was stupid and now lieing about my behavior! After going through your reviews, it seems like I’m not the only one who thought you were disrespectful!
I went to get coffee today, I ordered mine and then my sister ordered and more people ordered after her. I got my coffee and we noticed the people that had ordered after my sister got their coffee, it was about 6 orders after hers. I went to ask the barista and he yelled at me saying “yeah it’s coming! And nobody tip so!” His response tells me purposefully for some reason decided to just make my sister wait. Also I tip if I choose to tip, I shouldn’t be forced to tip. He was so so rude and ugly. This place went from being my favorite spot to a spot I never want to visit again. Anyway I hope the barista had a better day afterwards.
This is the 3rd time I went in for a coffee and the worker was very disrespectful, and rude.the workers here think who the he'll they are, and treat most people like crap. The new girl a blond had the audacity to tell me I was out of line asking the person in front of me is he mind I went first on which I was very polite the gentleman said no problem. I thanked him and the blond girl working started telling me off like I was a criminal, and a lowlife. Just because I don't look what they are used to there. If your from the area you know what I mean. Mean and rude. And it has to stop. I live on the block, and we don't complain about there car traffic parking all over the place so residents like myself don't have a spot. Or some of the weirdos that come around our residents areas especially on the weekends. But they think they can be disrespectful most of the time for no reason whats so ever. They are very judgemental. And its not cool. I won't be going to there coffee place ever again, and will call up and complain when there weird customers park and hang out around my residence. Respect works both ways. Money don't buy respect. Respect gets respect. I am surprise tx. Allows such weirdos . I thought this was the Bible belt.
