Vince's Italian Pizza

After all these years, Vince is still turning out the best gyros in town. I was happy to see him using the gyro spit. Most are using grills, or worse, the slice sandwich style. He is still shaving it off a gas fired vertical rotisserie. He immediately recognized me by name, after many years. Good ole Vince.

Vince is half Italian and half Greek and he does both sides of his family proud. The pizzas are the best in Amarillo (and several other cities I have had pizza in) and the Giros are equally excellent. He has been doing it right since 1984 in his little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, a testament to the quality of the food at Vince's.

Always friendly. Pizza here superb. Crust very tasty and crisp. Best in Amarillo. Nobody can come close to taste of the Gyro sandwiches.

Went there for the first time last night we wanted something out the normal choices we eat. I saw it and pitched it to my husband. He agreed everything we looked at looked good. We placed an order I went to pick it up and the food looked amazing. The smell was amazing. Even tasting it was amazing we both agreed it was some of the best we had ever had and it would be our new pizza spot. Highly recommend everything tastes so fresh.

This place is so underrated.. I love this place!!! The owners are always so nice! The pizza is amazing and will make you feel like you’re in Italy. The owners surprised me and my wife with a heart pizza.! Vince’s Pizza is the best pizza spot in Amarillo.!

I had the regular Gyro sandwich. I cannot imagine what the "super" is like. Mine was huge! I ordered the basket but I didn't eat many fries. My wife ordered the small spaghetti. She was glad she didn't order a bigger plate. The food was good and we really enjoyed it. It seems to be a two person store, a man and his wife. They are friendly and they work hard. I noticed they had a large take-out business. If you ever need it they offer a 30 inch pizza. They also have an eight inch pizza and lots of sizes in between.

Vince knows how to cook a good pizza. Got me the 16-inch pizza and I can only eat 3 and I have some leftovers for the rest of the week. Left pizza even better. The cheese was on point too.

The quality is delicious. And the price tag? Very reasonable and decent. The gyros are delicious as well. Crisp and fresh

I got the calzone (small btw) and they where HUGE (which is good cuz I got left overs😝) I would definitely recommend and come again. It's very authentic.

I no longer live in Amarillo, but every time I come to town, I have to eat at Vince's, there's not a chance I'm leaving town without eating there!

Wow this was my first time trying this pizza after living here my entire life and it was very good! The ingredients are simple, tasty and I did appreciate this as everything is home made, some pizza places tend to overdo it with oils but not this one! The lady and gentleman in charge are nice people as well. Reminds me of my time in Europe, same feel and atmosphere! Will gladly go again!

They make pretty good gyros.

Got a pepperoni and sausage pie. Cheesy and full of flavor. Great dough, cooked not too well done, tasty and good cheese to sauce ratio.

We love the gyros but the ones we got tonight was not good as usual. The Taziki sauce had lots of salt and was not good. The sauce ruined the sandwich. The sauce was different for sure. It did not taste like taziki . We order often so hope this is fixed. Thanks.

I've had the spaghetti here twice and just love it. It's about as close as my mother's spaghetti as I can find. She wasn't Italian but she learned how to make spaghetti back in the 1940s from an Italian neighbor. I went back to try their Greek chicken which seem to be only available in the Greek salad but it was more of a disappointment. The chicken was fine but to me Greek chicken should be grilled or roasted in lemon juice and garlic which this wasn't. The lettuce, tomatoes and onions were nice and fresh and crunchy but the dressing was just bottled Italian, nothing Greek about it at all. I've made Greek dressing at home so I know it's not that hard. Maybe there just isn't a lot of demand for it in Amarillo. The pita bread was okay but didn't taste real good quality or fresh. It could have benefited greatly from a quick grill/fry in olive oil. That's the best way so it is crunchy on the outside like toast or a toasted hamburger bun. There was some Greek feta cheese but it was in little cubes rather than crumbled over the top traditional style. The Greek olives had good flavor but were very tiny and kind of mushy so they probably came out of a can. At least they were Greek olives, not like another place where I ordered a Greek salad and they just put regular black olives over the top. Give me a break. The people who own the place are very nice. I like them a lot.

So it’s really good pizza. Good enough to where once a week we get pizza from them. But here the past couple of times something was off. Like this most recent time they had put the pepperonis under the cheese which is something they never do and it’s not good because then the pepperoni don’t fully cook. And for some reason each week it gets more expensive. Like it use to be $48 for 2 14” and 1 12” but sometimes it’ll reach $60? Other than that it’s really good.

Good Gyros. Plenty of meat on them. French Gries good and crispy. Greek salad needed more toppings on it.

Came to get a Gyro but wanted to try their other menu items. The gyros were good but the pizza was one of the worst little pizzas I’ve ever gotten. Just flavorless crust and sauce. Cheap toppings, looked like canned mushrooms. The wings were soggy. If I had only gotten Gyros I probably would have given 4 stars but based on the fact that it’s a pizza establishment and the pizza is that I just can’t do it. Had it not been for the Gyros would have been 1 star. I would return here but I wouldn’t order anything but a Gryo.

Love to order from here because of its constant inconsistencies with all of their food. One week the pizza sauce taste sweet then the next it doesn't. Same goes for the pastas one week they're fair and then the next the sauce taste burnt, that goes for the meatball subs as well. You never know weather it'll taste good or not like they have a bunch of different cooks who all cook their own way. I could go on and on about the foods tastes and qualities but you should get the point by now. This is why we like to place pickup orders here still because everytime it taste like it's from a different place plus the front half of the place smells like a urinal and my familys unable to sit down and eat along side sych a pungent odor. I've thought about donating some of my money to the in-house gambling machines but I'm already taking a big enough gamble ordering dinner from here in the first place.

We Love pizza, it's our favorite food and this was just not good at all. The pizza sauce looked and tasted more like spaghetti sauce. The cheese, sauce and pizza dough were so thick together the pepperoni didn't get crispy. We all left disappointed.

This is some of the worst pizza I've had in Amarillo. Do yourself a favor and pick up the pre-baked crust from the grocery store instead. I've had better pizza from the concession stand at the civic center. The fries we ordered too were a soggy mess of potatoes. Not worth it

I'm from Dallas and travel all over the U.S. but have been coming to Amarillo more often so I figured I'd get to know more places. I truly enjoy the Asian restaurant that shares the same building and figured I'd try this pizza. I was disappointed. The crust seems to me thick, heavy and tough; could happen when it's frozen and not completely thawed. It certainly seems like they use some premade sauce like Ragu and the cheese mix they use on the pizza isn't good. I was wanting to like this place but there's no way I can. I guess the locals that like it must never leave Amarillo or have never tried other pizzerias. Though it seems many good reviews about their Gyros and salads. Maybe they just need to stop making pizza? I also find it interesting that several 4-5 stars are from no name Google users with no comments at all.

Don't know about the food itself but the service, lack of rather, caused me to walk out. I walked in to an empty restaurant & I workers behind the counter on her phone. Did not bother to even look up as I stood for 5min. Only when I turned & walked out. The atmosphere is divey, which is cool but not when its unkept & in desperate need of a professional cleaning. So I guess the lack of service was a blessing...
