Hung out at the bar at Palermo and had such a good time. Solid drinks, really good food, and an easy, cozy vibe. Staff was friendly, everything flowed, and we stayed way longer than planned. Just a great spot to kick back in Astoria. 🍷
Palermo Restaurant in Astoria is absolutely fantastic. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared — you can really taste the quality in every dish. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is friendly, attentive, and professional. Everything from start to finish was excellent, and it’s the kind of place you want to come back to again and again. Highly recommend Palermo to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Astoria.
When I think of essential neighborhood restaurants, Palermo makes my short list. I’ve worked in this industry for many years and this is the definition of a great neighborhood restaurant. First off, the food here is really good. I work in a Michelin starred restaurant. I’m telling you, the quality-portion-price ratio is pretty fair here. It’s not cheap by any means, but you’re really getting what you pay for. The quality of their seafood is significantly higher than what else is available in the neighborhood. The portion sizes are pretty generous. If I’m craving something elevated and don’t want to leave the neighborhood, it’s comforting to know that option is nearby. The most impressive thing for me though is their consistency on takeout orders. They are consistently good, they’ve never missed, and every once in a while, they blow me away and leave me shocked at how well they execute. I can’t afford eating here all the time, but I make it a point to support these folks when I can. These kinds of restaurants are what make a community great. Nowadays, communities lose 5 restaurants like this one and replace it with an Olive Garden and a Dominos. It makes me so sad. Neither you, nor I want that to happen to Astoria. Support your local restaurants! Bravo team!
Palermo has become my go-to spot in Astoria, and honestly, it's one of the best neighborhood restaurants I've ever experienced. From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming vibe hits you—cozy brick interior, friendly staff who remember regulars, and that perfect mix of intimate and lively energy, especially with outdoor seating in nice weather. The food is outstanding: homemade pastas that are perfectly al dente, generous portions, and flavors that taste like they come straight from Italy. Their meatballs with penne are legendary—juicy, flavorful, and paired with a sauce that's rich but not heavy. The brick-oven pizzas are crisp and charred just right, the burrata is creamy heaven, and don't skip the tiramisu—it's one of the best I've had anywhere. Seafood dishes stand out too; everything feels fresh and thoughtfully prepared. What seals it as a true essential? Consistency. Whether dine-in or takeout, the quality never dips—every order arrives hot, accurate, and delicious. Service is attentive without being overbearing, and the value is spot-on for the quality ($$ but worth every penny). In a city where chains keep popping up, places like Palermo keep Astoria's soul alive. Support local spots like this—they make the neighborhood special. Team Palermo, you're killing it! Grazie mille—I'll be back soon (and often). Highly recommend to anyone craving elevated Italian comfort food without leaving the hood. 5 stars all the way!
What a wonderful place! We had the good fortune of eating here often & are forever happy with the entire experience at Palermo! Our wait person, Frida, is superb! She is extremely knowledgeable & very friendly, she makes you feel like you’re home! Magda offers an incredible experience with delicious food & a warm welcoming! It never disappoints! And, of course, the bartender Panos is charismatic & engaging! Frankly the entire staff, Frida, Marina & Vinny are beyond comparison, they are the best! It doesn’t hurt that the food is excellent, mouth watering & you leave happier than you came! Thank you always for a wonderful time! Denis Diaz & John Holden
I’ve ordered delivery from Palermo a bunch of times and it’s always been great, but actually coming in to eat with my family was even better. The food was amazing, everything came out hot and full of flavor, and the portions were solid. The vibe was relaxed, the staff was super nice, and it just felt like an easy, really good family meal. Definitely a spot we’ll keep coming back to, whether it’s delivery or dining in.
Palermo in Astoria is an absolute neighborhood gem. The food is consistently delicious, with classic Italian flavors that feel both comforting and thoughtfully prepared. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, from the perfectly cooked pasta to the rich, flavorful sauces. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a relaxed dinner or a special night out. What really sets Palermo apart is the friendly, attentive service—you’re made to feel like a regular even on your first visit. If you’re looking for authentic Italian food in Astoria with heart and soul, Palermo is a must-visit.
Had the best experience here tonight! The prosecco was refreshing and delicious. The burrata app, Cesar salad, margarita pizza, Veal francese, and pasta carbonara were all made to perfection. Couldn’t ask for better service. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!
It has become one of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions, today we went for my moms bday, I made the reservation thru open table a few days prior but I recommend calling just to confirm the day of. The branzino was DELISH, our server was attentive and he was truly on point. Will be back!
We had the pleasure of being served by Frida, and she was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived, she was warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating to our group. She anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask, kept everything running smoothly, and made sure everyone felt taken care of. Her friendly personality, professionalism, and great attention to detail really stood out. It’s rare to find a bartender who not only makes excellent drinks but also creates such a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Frida went above and beyond to make our night memorable, and we couldn’t have asked for better service. Highly recommend asking for Frida—you’ll be in great hands!
We had such a fantastic experience! Frida was an outstanding bartender — warm, attentive, and truly made us feel welcome. She crafted excellent drinks and made the whole evening even more enjoyable with her great energy. On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Between the amazing service and wonderful food, this place is definitely a must-visit!
I have to say... Quality meets perfection with a side of friendly atmosphere. This place is great. The food is fresh and it tastes amazing!. I went with my wife and another couple.. guess what... they are now hooked with Palermo. Amazing!! KEEP UP THE GOOD FOOD!!!
Palermo is a great last minute find on a weeknight that don’t close too early. Tastefully cute and elegant interior as well as available outdoor seating. Tried both, same outstanding service from Magda, Amanti, Bernard and the rest of the crew. I usually call in to find out about the fish of the day, otherwise Alaskan King Salmon and Branzino are excellent. Halibut special was exceptional both in size and flavor. Choice of individual or family style pasta dishes are perfect for larger groups. Highly recommend the Lasagna, Clam Linguini, Carbonara and Lobster Ravioli. The pasta has the perfect texture for our taste. For starters, grilled octopus is a must, stuffed mushrooms and calamari. Good selection of Bourbons, among the favorites are Woodford Reserve and Angel’s Envy. Come to Palermo for great food, drink and awesome service. A memorable experience each time!!
Fantastic! My wife and I travel to Italy all the time and the food here was on par and in many cases, surpassed the best food we've ever had in Italy. Absolutely superb! Everything and I mean everything was a home run!! Even the decor. We sat outside on a beautiful summer night and enjoyed our evening like we were back in Italy. You should have to bring a passport to visit this place. It's *that* good. Also want to mention our wonderful server BOBANA - who was knowledgeable, friendly, and made fantastic suggestions!! Couldn't ask for more. Also had the pleasure of meeting the owner BONO - who was so nice and pleasant and you could tell he *really* cared about the experience people had at his restaurant. Everything was top notch. ============== ♦️We got: --💥MEATBALLS (appetizer) - incredible!! --💥EGGPLANT ROLLETTINI (appetizer) - superb flavor topped with an excellent vodka sauce. --💥FRIED ZUCCHINI & EGGPLANT (appetizer) - everything was incredible but these 100% stole the show!!! So so so good!! --💥16 inch MARGHERITA PIZZA - Great crisp! Great undercarriage! No flop! Packed with flavor!! ============== DESERT: --💥CREME BRÛLÉE CHEESECAKE - holy sh%t this was amazing!! ============== Cannot say enough nice things!! Can't wait to go back and visit and bring friends 🫶
I really love this place. The atmosphere is pretty elegant, the food had great flavor and quality. Penne ala Vodka was delicious and the Calamari was rich, the sauce it came with was incredible 😋. The waiter was helpful and friendly, I would love to come back to this place as it was my first time coming. The dessert was yummy 🤤 I really enjoyed it and I recommend it 👍🏻
Saturday December 13, 2025 have not been to this restaurant for over three years returned today for dinner. Food very good. Service by Marina was excellent. Music is really and good drinks are good as well.
Was brought here by a friend as they are a semi-regular. A generous menu with plenty to offer, yet what stood out was the PIZZA! Thin crust, and incredibly fresh, it was light and easy to eat (on a full stomach). The image is the 12" size and they offer a 16" size as well. I would say no matter how full and hungry, dive for the 16"! Service was attentive, whenever my water was low, the same gent was ready to refill. Friendly and definitely family-friendly/local neighborhood vibe at the restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well. Upon paying, they have mobile devices, so easy contactless ( Pay!) options. I would recommend the pizza here, for sure. You do have to pay PER topping, as a heads up.
At first I thought you had to dress really nicely in order to go inside but that was not the case. When going in the atmosphere was super clean, pleasent, and calm. It made eating food comfortable and delicious. The only downside is that there is no none-alcoholic drink option on the menu. We asked just in case. Their soda options was large so that was good. They even added a sliced lemon on my Coca-Cola which I really liked. Our waitress was super friendly and easy to talk too. The pizza was flat but it tasted Amazing. Highly recommend the pizza. Their pasta was a bit on the blander side but still good. My friends got lamb steal and soup which they both likes a lot. We came out with a full stomach and a happy face.
We ordered from here last night and let me tell you, the food was beyond disappointing and ESPECIALLY for the price. The Caesar salad, I’m almost positive, had to bagged lettuce and bottle dressing. For a “higher end” Italian restaurant, I absolutely expected homemade salad. The vodka rigatoni and charm parm are mid at best. Didn’t feel fresh or tasty at all. We ordered pizza which was superrrrr thin and bland. Tasted horrible. The clams were a little bit better and the tiramisu was good. Everything else felt like boxed food. For a higher end restaurant, it should definitely feel like all the food is homemade or at least the pricing should reflect that. This felt like takeout food from an ok pizzeria. Super super disappointing.
We had a reservation for 5 people for x'mas lunch but we couldn't tell the hostess that because she never got off her phone to greet us hello. She sat us in the back all the while yapping on her phone. We were settled in and had the bread and as soon as the waitress brings the food, she asks if we could move to another table because a bigger party was coming in about an hour and a half. We refused b/c the restaurant only had a few people in it anyway and we were comfortable where we were and there was plenty of room to set up for a larger party elswhere. The lasagna was tasty but had very little meat and marinara sauce. The spaghetti too had very little sauce. We asked for a little more sauce and was charged $2.50 each for a little more sauce. That's tacky. After we eat dinner and order dessert and coffee, they plop down the check as we are eating dessert. We did not ask for the check yet. In the same sentence, the waitress asks us AGAIN to take another table or hurry and leave in case the other party arrived, which offended us. We were there a little over an hour and again, this bigger party still never arrived but they are pushing us out. We said we were just finishing up and were not going to move to another table. Asking us twice to move or to hurry us out when we were still drinking our coffee and eating dessert was tacky, rude and unprofessional. When we left, that larger party still hadn't arrived and there were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant. The prices went up and to charge for extra sauce on dry pasta is double dipping and outrageously bad customer service. Place looks classy but the way they treat customers isn't classy at all. We won't be going back.
I have to say, I’ve been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and it has delicious food. It’s just such a shame that staff doesn’t treat all customers the same. I’ve noticed a difference in attitude and persona with other customers compared to how they treat my family and I. Dismissive and always quick to rush us out. Offer other tables bread and forget to even give ours water. Do better!
The first time at Palermo to have dinner with my family. Very disappointed. They brought not cooked pizza. I complained about this to the manager and they said that this is normal And they cannot change the pizza. She, the manager, was very rude and does not have any understanding about customer satisfaction. So we could not eat the pizza and they charged us for it. So to keep it short we will never come here again. Not recommended. Thanks for reading.
