If you don’t like it, you’re wrong. Avocado margs for life. Ask for some of their hot salsa if you like your food more spicy. It’s literally fire.
The food is excellent. A little pricey but great. The drinks are good too.
Went to celebrate the first National Missing Persons Day at the State Capitol Southside steps. This is the place Jo Ann wanted to go,we haven't had enough mexican food lately. WOW this place hit the spot ! The 5 of us had an array from the menue. Caldi to Chile Relano was very tasty and the Avacado Margaritas were great.Smoothie with alcohol ?Since this is in Austin there is No complimentary chips and salsa. The service was great ,quick, helpful, accurate as well as attentive. The restrooms were immaculate, and this was just after the lunch rush. The best dining experience in a long time.
Food was delicious, my waiter was even better. He constantly brought us drinks checked up on us and even made sure we had everything we needed to have a great experience. When leaving I dropped my wallet, he ran out and gave it back to me as I was leaving without myself realizing. I was gonna try to give him a tip until his manager came out and started yelling at him. I salute you my brother, but the manager had no right yelling at you after returning a wallet to a customer, and kudos to you for not quitting while doing something you clearly didn’t have to, sorry I don’t remember the name but he was a bigger guy wearing glasses.
Oldy and a goodie. High quality and made with love. Lots of vegetarian options (and not just cheese enchiladas). Family recipe salsas and cheerful staff. Love this place. Be sure to get the salsa sampler! The elote is primo. The refried black beans are an instant anti-depressant. Tamales are my fav. Yummmm all the way.
Nice gem in South Austin on Oltorf! Menu is unique and interesting, and delivery out of the kitchen was exceptionally delicious. Our server, Jake, was definitely on his game, being very polite, fun, and knowledgeable about the menu. Awesome service! Restaurant is well managed and it was great seeing the staff working as a team. Everyone encountered was respectful, thoughtful, and mindful. Facility is very clean and well maintained. 2nd, 3rd, 4th+ visits? As great as my 1st. Love this restaurant!
We came into Curra's the Monday after Grand Prix weekend when all restaurants seems overbooked. We were seated immediately for a late lunch around 1-2pm. Staff were very fast and attentive and explained the menu for us. This was very different than what we're used to with California-Mexican food. The spice level is intense, but we really enjoyed the bright flavors as well. The dishes might have been a tad too spicy for us, and we have decent spice tolerance, but we'd come back just to try more of their menu. I ordered the patos en mole tacos, and my dad got the cochinita pixel, both so flavorful and satisfying. We would definitely come back.
Curra’s never disappoints! Their authentic mole is rich, complex, and layered with flavor in a way only true Mexican kitchens can achieve. And of course, you can’t visit without trying their iconic aguacate margarita. So refreshing and dangerously smooth and delicious! By to mention, unlike anything else in Austin. Even on a packed night, the staff went above and beyond, offering me a drink while I waited for a table. Little gestures like that speak volumes about their ability hospitality and keep me coming back. If you want a place where the food is as memorable as the service, Curra’s is it.
100/10 this place has the best food on the dang planet. If you only eat at one place in Austin Texas make this it! The huevos motuleños and huevos Curras are absolutely incredible. The margaritas are delicious. The service is friendly. The atmosphere is uniquely Austin Texas. This is absolutely one of our very favorite restaurants in the world. We cannot recommend it highly enough!
Old Austin Gem! Its weird calling something "old Austin" when its from the early 90s, but hey, there's not much left that exists in its original form from earlier that hasn't been turned into a chain or bought out. I wish there were still more places like this in Austin. My significant other had heard about an avocado margarita and wanted to try one. She read this place had the original and the best. The restaurant is located right next to a gas station on E. Oltorf. It was a slow mid-afternoon Sunday so there weren't any cars in the parking lot. From the outside, I was skeptical to say the least. But the moment I walked through the door my skepticism disappeared and I was happy she made me stop. The inside was alive with vibrant wall murals on all of the interior from local artists. Hell, even the men's bathroom wall art was amazing street painter art! The bar was trendy, with a lot of craft liquors and tequila, but old-school-cool, just like the bartender, Jake. He took great care of us and told us of the history of the place, mixed amazing drinks, and was just a genuine nice guy. The avocado marg was excellent. The only food we ate was the "salsa special" with 9 different house salsas to sample. It was awesome and I'll be getting that again! I can eat my weight in salsa. The sweet habanero was an unexpected favorite. Jake even whipped up a specialty drink for us that was absolutely killer. I don't even know the name of it but I want another. I am so happy we stopped. Don't pass this old-Austin original up.
Walked in and was pleasantly surprised how nicely decorated the interior was. The inside had a vibrant color and Mexican flair. We both ordered enchiladas of different types. One was Cancun Shrimp enchiladas and the other was Chicken mole enchiladas. Both came with our choice of beans and rice. When the plates arrived they both looked liked like art pieces and tasted really good. Was very pleased with this place overall and can definitely say will be back to try different dishes.
If you are looking for good margaritas this is the place avocado margarita and cucumber Rita are so good. We order ceviche best ceviche everything was fresh tomatoes onion cilantro love it except for the extra salt on everything but was really good and then we ordered pork in chille guajillo best I ever had and not to mention the red tortillas I wanted a dessert but unfortunately not room for it.(Sunday night)
First time to try. Met family for breakfast. Service was spot on what you want from your waitress. Coffee was yummy. Wait was minimal and food was fresh and hot. I didn't get to take photos of everything we ordered because we couldn't wait to try it all. Had a great time because we had so much great food and we not rushed out by staff. I recommend this place if you are looking for good Mexican food with an interesting twist. Try it!
Absolutely fantastic place, the interior was well decorated and super clean - service was great and the food was definitely on point! We got in right away and the service was fast. Super reasonable pricing as well, a definite recommendation if you’re anywhere near there, and looking for some authentic Mexican cuisine.
This restaurant is a gem! Their avocado margaritas are simply awesome, such a delightful twist on a classic. The bartender was super sweet and ready to give recommendations for dinner and around town. We really appreciated getting to chat. She was busy but ready to answer all our questions. This is a must-visit spot for unique drinks and a great atmosphere
Appetizers were so good we couldn't finish our meals. Best chips we've ever had. Quirky location but the nicest staff. Awesome avocado margaritas !!!

I hadn't been to Curra's in a while. Had a delicious lunch there today. I had the tacos encebollados. They were delicious. My friends had migas and enchiladas Curras. Everybody loved their food. …
Great service, good Tex-Mex (queso, enchiladas and the blackberry margarita is really good). Cute lil spot

Love this place! Great recipes you can't get anywhere else in Austin -- fun atmosphere, nice margaritas, good breakfast tacos and pozole on the weekends! Not touristy but a great vibe!
Great place for margaritas and Tex mex! Love the atmosphere and great service! Would come back again!
Great atmosphere, great food, and amazing people. Owner came up to our table and was super nice. Would recommend to anyone wanting great food and to meet some nice people.

My only complaint is that they can take very long to seat you, even when there are many open tables. Fantastic food though, some of the best Mexican I have ever had! Give the chef a raise

The food needs a lot of work. I was very surprised of the chicken breast that my meal came with & saw a chicken leg & thigh, with lots of bone. The chipotle sauce was so sweet & that was confusing. Definitely not authentic, nor tex mex. I can see by the reviews, who eats here the most. Definitely look elsewhere.

Initially, the impression of this establishment was that it would offer a suitable dining experience with satisfactory service. I can confirm that the food was of high quality, with superb taste; however, there should be more generous portion sizes, and if a smaller portion is served, the price should reflect that. Regrettably, the coffee was tasteless and unappealing; I will not be purchasing coffee here again. The staff member serving us displayed a problematic attitude from the beginning, despite our being courteous and not difficult. For example, I requested another coffee due to a sugar stain; although I tried it with regular brown sugar, the taste remained unpleasant—indeed, gross. The server's attitude was unprofessional, characterized by eye-rolling and sighing, as if she were exhausted. At the end of our visit, when we requested separate tickets, she sighed again, implying difficulty in processing the bill. Additionally, she did not check if my companions wished to order more soda. I could have left a generous tip, but her attitude discouraged this. My companions mentioned that this was their first and last visit; they also noted that the waitress at Denny's on Oltorf was more genuine and pleasant. I attempted to contact the manager to report these issues; however, the representative who answered was unwilling to provide her name or the manager’s, and I informed them I would follow up via email.
This place used to be my favorite some years ago when I lived in Austin. I used to eat meat back then but now I’m vegetarian. I was really excited to try their vegetarian chile relleno. The menu said it was a vegetarian chorizo chile relleno… well judge for yourself in the picture if this has any right being called a chorizo chile relleno. The waitress and manager were both pretty rude pointing at the crumbs of chorizo. If a meat eater ordered a chorizo chile relleno and got crumbs of chorizo they would not be happy with the dish either. Just because I am a vegetarian doesn’t mean I want to just eat vegetables. Also, the service was pretty bad beyond them being rude and loudly discussing the issue. The server was unable to check on us in a timely manner because she had too many tables. It took awhile for the server to even come back and check what we thought of the food. In the end they ended up charging me for the rice and beans I ate while waiting for the server to come back and check on us since by that point my husband was pretty much done with his meal and I didn’t want to wait on a new dish.
