I recommend stopping here even if you're just getting drinks! The ambiance is amazing. I loved the curry hot dog and the katsu curry was delicious and filling! I only wish it had more than a pinch of shredded cabbage it's nice to have a refreshing bite of cabbage in between the heavier curry and katsu
4 star food & 5 star drinks and atmosphere. One of the most unique (primarily) outdoor bars in this area of East Austin. The Shinku Punch was delicious! I wish they had another vegan food option besides overpriced edamame, but the ease of waiting in line for Ramen-Tatsuya after having a few drinks makes up for their lack of edibles. The sprayers we’re creating a wet tshirt situation at the beginning of this particular stay but were turned off at an appropriate time, we haven’t had this issue on prior visits.
Attached to Ramen Tatsuya but is a different place, so an excellent option when the wait is too long. It's mostly outdoor seating, with great decor. You can get flavored beer floats and different flavored tonics with your choice of liquor. The staff is amazing and also incredibly helpful. If you are going to get food, do not, under any circumstances, miss the hot dog! It is incredible.
I highly recommend going for the ramen and enjoying a cocktail in the gorgeously appointed outdoor dining area. The food is delicious 🍜 Their covid safety protocols blow everyone else out of the water. Social distances maintained, mask wearing, temperature checks and questions about contacts before entering the restaurant making the dining experience feel as safe as possible.
I can't lie, pretty good ramen. I had heard of this spot for a while. I saved some quarters and decided to try it out. Pretty good ngl. Flavorful broth, firm noodles, great experience. The staff was nice and the atmosphere was kinda what you want for a ramen night. Definitely recommend!
Ascending the front steps, you find yourselves before a great chasmic divide, the likes of which your fair hostess straddles with all the grace left in an otherwise graceless world. To the left, she says, lies a top Ramen restaurant. To the right, a Japanese fusion joint. “Choose wisely,” hostess say, without influencing you in any way. Listen: don't get forked up; it's a no-brainer. The path to the right leads through a beautiful bamboo woodland, dimly lit by the muted glow of a million paper lanterns affixed to the canopy above. If that weren't enough to guide you, the menu to the right is also fantastically appealing, foretelling the mysterious cuisine that is Japanese curry. Traversing the woodland foyer, we came upon a spacious clearing in which we found a full bar and a wide variety of sitting places. There were a great many people from many diverse lands in the clearing, however—and yet at once they all looked much the same, largely conformed as they were to the same hipster aesthetic—and they had taken up all of the good sitting places. Our party of three—or rather "company" I should say—resigned itself to a cold, inhospitable dining bar in the back corner, facing a lifeless, colorless wall of wood. No sooner did I fetch Jerry a sitting stool, however, he suddenly dashed away without a word. My dear companion and I watched from afar as he single-handedly secured a newly open booth for us. We settled in then, now warm and contented, ready to read through the menu in all its appetizing glory. We three agreed upon a veritable banquet of dishes to share and then proceeded to order at the bar. We were subsequently served our meal piecemeal, each of our dishes arriving separately. So came the Beef Curry first, served with white rice, special Japanese pickles, and some lovely potato things, of which there were three, a serendipitous number for our shareful company. The dish was hot, hearty, and somewhat spicy, especially magnificent on a cold night such as this. Next came the Cauliflower Wings, delicious little victuals well-suited to the belovèd delights of dunking and popping. Shortly thereafter, we were given Chicken Wings and Powtatoes, thereby completing our order. The chicken wings were quite spicy, especially with the side sauce, and I was pleased to find the skin of an edible nature, quite unlike the elastic, rubbery skins one sometimes finds on chicken wings. However, even these delicious wings my dear companion could not properly eat. She is a goose who leaves far too much meat on the bone, you see, leaving me to go in after her and suck her bones clean. 'Tis good for me, of course, but I do worry about her fortitude and sanity sometimes. Now, as for the Powtatoes, I daresay thems were the best potato things I've ever had, leastways in a good long while. They were fried good and crispy on the outside but light and fluffy like yucca on the inside, and the sauce they were served with pleased me to no end. Suffice it to say, all said and done, our company chose wisely indeed by veering right into the Alley-Gato Domo. The aesthetics and the offerings were both marvelous and wonderful beyond our wildest expectations. The Domonians charged us a fair price for the foregoing culinary delights, and, though I wasn't quite full, I was well beyond satisfied. We three shall always remember our time in the Domo, a novel adventure encapsulated now and henceforth evermore in each of our new metal sporks. Arigato, Domo Alley-Gato. Mucho arigato indeed.
This place is awesome! This Japanese bar offers unique drinks. Tried their Space Cowboy and the Frozen foam cup beer. You get to choose from three flavors for your frozen cap. I tried the Licor 43 vanillas and it was delicious. Love the vibe here and will definitely be back. Instagram: food_and_travel0
This is the most authentic ramen, I have had outside of Asia. I've had ramen many times in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This hit the spot of ramen nostalgia more than any other ramen restaurant I've tried in Texas, which is a lot. I absolutely loved the vibe too. I love a good theme and this one was done pretty perfectly. We also enjoyed the cocktails. The servers and bar tenders were really pleasant. The food was very reasonably priced, for Austin.
A vibrant East Austin alley bar with Tokyo vibes, Japanese curry, and a good menu.
Five Stars Just Isn’t Enough! I recently tried the new Texas Tonk ramen bowl at Ramen Tatsu-ya and I am blown away. This bowl is a full-blown flavor explosion that beautifully marries Texas BBQ with authentic Japanese ramen. The brisket was unbelievably tender—smoky, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The way it infused the broth made every sip taste like the heart of a Texas smokehouse. Then there’s the pickled jalapeño, which added the perfect zingy kick, cutting through the richness in the most mouthwatering way. Every ingredient, from the noodles to the toppings, was thoughtfully balanced and packed with flavor. I’ve had a lot of ramen, but this is in a category of its own. Bold, soulful, and seriously addictive. Hats off to the Ramen Tatsu-ya team—y’all have created a masterpiece. I’ll be dreaming about this bowl for weeks!
Amazing food. Killer drinks. Super fast service. 10/10 instagram worthy bowls. Will come back every time in town.
Very chill and nice spot. We came on a Tuesday night , there was a lot of parking spots available and not many people which was nice. Food was also pretty tasty and not too loud so it feels like a good spot to take someone on a date and have a nice chat.
Very quick service, really cool vibe in the place, tried the spicy ramen which had a nice kick along with the sides of the croquettes and the fried chicken as well as a refreshing pint of the Japanese lager on tap. First meal in Austin on my travels and highly enjoyed it. Hopefully return again sometime soon!
Dog friendly patio, with great beer and appetizers. We really enjoyed the beer and the apps we got were amazing, spicy gyoza, beef slider and chicken kaarage! I think a live DJ was about to start too!
This place is SO cool! A must visit if you're in Austin. They have this beer there with some alcohol flavored frozen foam in the top! Love the decor!
Late post Oct 23’ Domo Alley-Gato Tatsu-Ya – Located in East Austin Domo Alley-Gato Tatsu-Ya was only a 5 min walk from my cousins, with a lot of thought and deliberation they decided finally settled on this place. Arrived on a Sunday afternoon and to my surprise with football season it was a bit quiet, which was good because we were able to take our time looking over the menu. They are a mostly outside venue with limited inside seating and is very dog friendly! They also share the restroom with the ramen spot next door. The atmosphere was that of Japan (peep the pics), very beautiful! Everything (food and drinks) was reasonably priced... We mostly got small plates but if you are hungry get the ramen but only want apps as a meal I would suggest a bowl of Curry/Chashu with Karage/Goyza. The fam and I got; Curry, Chashu, Edamame, Spicy Edamame, Korokkaaayyy, Gyoza, Katsu Slider, Karage and Negi rice bowl. Curry – Nicely seasoned, no meat Chashu- Delish, basically a porkbelly type adobo Edamame/Spicy Edamame – Both very good but I would get the spicy, better flavor Korokkaayyy – Typical flavor Gyoza – Came out pipping hot, flavorful and juicy! Karage – Can taste the marinade, crispy and addicting Katsu Slider – Yummm but so small for $6 Negi Rice Bowl – OOOOoo this was a flavor bomb, surprisingly enjoyed this dish. Very savory! Shinku punch – Very flavorful and refreshing paired well with all the dishes!
This is my favourite bar in Austin! So eclectic, fun and adorable. The decor itself makes it something like an art project or installation that you absolutely must go see. The inside is like this Japanese environment with paper lanterns, seats made of what’s supposed to be crates of Sapporo beer. There’s cats everywhere. And the tables have cat decals with the menu QR code on them. And their famous thing is this Japanese Ichiban beer with a foam swirl on top that comes with flavour shots you can drop in the beer. The other things on the menu are kind of basic but cocktails are good. The vibe is also really laid back and chilled out Highly recommend checking this place out! I know I’ll be back soon!
I really like it. I would love to revisit again I had ramen first for dinner inside and it was good. I went to outside and then had some small bites with beer and cocktails. They were all good. Foam beer with vanilla was good. Casual vibe and very austin vibe. I love it!
First time here and we had such a delightful time , service was amazing got recommended the most delicious items and the food came out quicker than we thought it would ! We recommend coming to try if you haven’t !
Incredibly delicious. The kirin foam was interesting and frosty. The chicken karagge was a perfect appetizer, but the star of the show was the spicy chilled ramen. I can't describe how really delicious and savory the chilled is while being refreshing. I hope this stays on the menu rather than just being seasonal. It's a perfect main dish for a hot summer Texas day.
Wow I love what they did with this outdoor space. The food does not seem like it comes out of a food truck and you would not know it's a food truck because it is hidden by great things to look at. The wings, slaw, and curry was amazing. This is a little piece of paradise in the busy hustle of east 6th Street.
First time here and upon entering, I was blown away by the decor. It definitely set the tone for modern yet nostalgic. As an appetizer, we got the karaage. One of the best, if not the best, interpretation of this classic Japanese dish. It was nice and crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. I got the Mi-So-Not ramen. The broth stole the show here. I would go back just for a bowl of broth. For a drink, I got the Saga Chillton which was also really delightful. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it surpassed whatever it was.
Super cool spot on E. 6th St. It’s like this hybrid bar that came out of Ramen Tatsuya the restaurant next-door. Very stylish and super chill. There wasn’t enough parking in the back of the restaurant. Parking was definitely a little bit hard to find and they charge until midnight.
This place is so awesome and affordable. Great spot for dates or being with friends and family. Really nice outdoor seating. Pretty authentic compared to what I eat when I’m in Japan. Oh and nice available parking.
I love the giant lucky cat statue out front you can take a photo of and with. It makes for a good tourist trap! The bar is clean and they have misters to keep you cool. If you sit at a table, the tables have cats with QR codes to scan for the menu. The staff are friendly and great conversationalists.

The curry dishes we're tasty but that bam bam hot dog was stellar. The frozen beer foam cocktails aren't the easiest thing to consume, but are fun to try at least once. Plenty of other specialty drinks to try on the menu. The ambiance is what really makes this place, especially at night.
Didn’t think our night could get any better and then we walked into DomoAlleyGato. Disco balls on trees, delicious chicken wings, surf cat yummy drinks, and a playlist that just kept getting better say less. “it’s just a beautiful place, I don’t know how to explain it” -my friend I would like to give their designer a kiss- very well done DAG
My husband and I were in a search for the best Japanese Katsu curry in AUSTIN. Domo-Alleygato didn’t disappoint plus the atmosphere made it feel like we were in a Japanese street alley. Everyone at our table loved the taco dog (I forgot the formal name). The katsu curry was a good size for me. My husband played ultimate frisbee, so the bigger bowl was a good size for him. The katsu is served crispy, the way I like it, and the curry had tons of flavor and a tiny bit of spice.
Rating: 3.6/5 [dine in] This is a cute Japanese outdoor patio spot for summer dining. I heard the food comes from the same kitchen as Ramen Tatsuya, but it didn’t taste the same. The ramen portions were smaller, and overall, the flavors didn’t hit quite as well. Service was good for a busy 4th of July evening. Tsukemen / Dipping Broth ($16.50): Condensed pork bone dipping broth, yuzu zest, chashu pork, menma, scallions, bonito mayu, ajitama, lime, nori. It was just okay. The broth lacked that depth and umami flavor you'd expect from a dipping ramen and didn’t cling well to the noodles. The soft-boiled egg was good, but overall it felt like there wasn’t enough protein, so we ended up with leftover noodles. Kizami Sweet & Sour Yodas ($8): Shredded Brussels sprouts, Fuji apples, apricot, bonito, black pepper, garlic, sesame. This sounded interesting so we gave it a try, and it ended up being my favorite item of the night. Refreshing, light, and perfect as a palate cleanser. Karaage ($8): Japanese-style twice fried chicken with garlic mayo and chili sauce. Unfortunately, this was dry and underwhelming. There wasn’t much batter, and the chicken pieces were small. You really need the chili mayo for flavor and moisture. Honestly, I prefer the frozen Japanese brand over this. Chashu Rice Bowl ($8): Pork belly, scallion, pickled red ginger. Nice presentation, but the chashu wasn't as flavorful as I would like it to be. Not bad, just not memorable—I've had better elsewhere.
Fun laid back izakaya style patio bar themed in Maneki-neko. The decor and atmosphere alone is a great reason to stop by. It is 21 and up only so you will be carded upon entry(Don't forget your ID). Decent amount of seating with booths providing a more cozy space to drink and eat. Food is great though menu is kind of small and most dishes are curry based. Staff are relatively friendly and prices about average for a bar on 6th.
The food was good! The pork had a nice char and the egg was perfect! The atmosphere/ theme was very on point and fun! Everything is self serve. The atmosphere makes it worth checking out!

Really cool spot! The design is so fun and I really enjoyed sitting outside. I just wasn’t a huge fan of the ramen and beer add in. The ramen wasn’t bad, I just thought it was missing a little flavor and the portion size was smaller than what I’m used to. The cold foam beer they have is really cool, I just wish I would’ve gotten it without the ginger add in because unfortunately it tasted pretty off and like cleaning product. I would still probably come back though and try something else because the ambiance was great and I appreciated the friendly staff!
Place is great. Food is delicious, great variety of drinks and a nice vibe to just hangout at. My only complaint is the birds. It's best that you avoid sitting somewhere underneath the tree in the center. The birds stay there a lot and WILL poop on you and in your food. They already pooped on me and in my beer and I don't like constantly looking out for my food getting pooped in.

The decor was good but the ramen was bad due to season I’m from Houston the ramen at h town is better that’s not a prediction that’s a spoiler
