Mian & Bao is a popular spot for authentic Shanghai cuisine, particularly the xiaolongbao and pan-fried pork buns. Customers consistently praise the flavorful dishes and fresh ingredients. Some find the online ordering impersonal and the noodles occasionally too oily.

Mian & Bao is one of our favorite spots. We’ve been here several times and it’s consistently great. The food is always fresh with generous portions. Highly recommend the chili oil wontons, spicy beef noodle, stir-fried shrimp noodles, xiao long bao with shrimp, pan-fried pork buns, and stir-fried broccoli — everything is flavorful and well cooked. Nice, clean ambiance, very kid-friendly, and excellent service. The app-based ordering system is super efficient and the food comes out fast and fresh every time. Bathrooms are very clean and have all the basics, including a baby changing table, which we really appreciate. We’ll definitely keep coming back. Highly recommend.
Had a great dining experience here! The beef noodle soup was rich and flavorful with perfectly tender beef and a well-balanced broth. The fried chicken cutlet was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, freshly made and very satisfying. The white cut chicken was also excellent—simple, clean flavors and very tender meat. Overall, the food quality was impressive and everything tasted authentic. Would definitely come back and recommend this place!
This was my second time at this restaurant. It's super hard not to order everything on the menu; it's just so good! Service is fast, and so is the food. I waited 10 minutes or less for them to start bringing out what we ordered. It's also a great spot if you want to eat alone. You just scan the QR code on the table to order and send it. If you're looking for a place with minimal interaction, you'll love this spot. Parking is tough because of the area it's in, just a really busy spot. We usually park about a block away and walk to the restaurant unless you want to circle around a few times for parking! I totally recommend the chicken cutlet, soup dumplings, and pork buns! They have a nice mayo that comes on the side of a dish that tastes great with everything! Plus, everything on the menu is really cheap, so you won't break the bank trying all the food!
Mien & Bao in the Triangle is such a gem in Austin, and I’m so glad I stopped by! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean, bright, and beautifully decorated the space is. The modern décor mixed with warm touches really creates a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I also want to give a special shoutout to Lisa, who was an absolutely amazing server. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the dining experience even better. I tried multiple dishes during my visit, and every single one was delicious. You can really taste the quality and freshness in everything they serve. The flavors were balanced, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared. It’s rare to visit a place where every dish hits the mark, but Mien & Bao really delivered.
The best Asian food I've had in a really long time. I'm so happy we decided to stop by here last minute. Everything was amazing. Great house music, beautiful interior, super friendly staff, and phenomenal food!!! Will definitely return and bring friends here. The star of the show was the spicy beef noodles.
Really enjoyed our visit to Mian and Bao in Austin. The service was great. They brought water to the table before we even sat down which was a nice touch. The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and parking was easy. The food was tasty and we would definitely come back again.
Fun Chinese restaurant in the triangle development. We loved slurping the delicious sauce from their soup dumplings, which we had along with crunchy fried vegetable dumplings and ice jello dessert. The staff were friendly and courteous, and the place has lovely decorations. They advertise having a weekday happy hour. They share a parking strip and some spaces in a parking garage with adjacent businesses.
We arrived around 1:30pm and were seated right away. We were asked to order online from a QR code on the table. This was just a bit confusing but the waitress straightened things out for us. We ordered noodles and shrimp, hot and sour soup, fruit tea, and appetizers. Our order arrived in short time piping hot. Everything we tried had authentic flavors and was very tasty. Our waitress was good and inside the place was nicely decorated. At the end of our meal we were definitely full and content. I very much enjoyed dining here.
I tried Mian and Bao today and everything was amazing. I ordered the 20 dollar combo with the chili oil wontons, beef noodle soup, and a fresh juice. The wontons were tender and flavorful and the beef noodle soup was one of the best I have had. The broth was rich, the beef was very tender and the portion size was great. Ingredients tasted fresh, I enjoyed everything I ordered! The restaurant is small but really cute and the service was excellent. Alejandro helped me and he was friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back.
Visited during Chinese new year. Loved the dishes. Hospitality is good. Food is served hot and quick. Recommend the mono and fried rice. Rice/Noodles Quantity is sufficient for a person. Would love to visit again. Parking can be challenging over the weekends as there are fewer spots. Have a nice dining.
Soup dumplings and pan fried soup dumplings are some of the best in town!! The broth is sweet, flavorful, and slightly different for each. Pork katsu was super krispy and moist. Cucumbers ap was crunchy and perfectly sweet and sour. Jelly noodles was ok - was expecting chewy noodles but they are just konjac noodles. Golden chicken wontons broth can cure colds. Jelly dessert is meh - syrup is a bit sweet. Was also expecting it to be over ice or colder.
went with my bestie and her bf!! it was my first time and i loved everything! 🍜 spicy beef noodle soup: 7.5/10 for me, 8.5/10 for my friends. super tender meat, juicy bok choy, and salty broth. the noodles were a great texture (not too chewy/ starchy). it wasn't spicy... and not anything too special though 🍱 fried pork cutlet/ tonkatsu: 8/10 for me, 7/10 for my friends. it was very crispy and came with soy sauce & ketchup but i'm just not that into katsu 🍞 pan fried beef bun: 10/10 for me, 8/10 & 6.5/10 for my friends. SOOOO juicy and great meaty flavor. and crispy bread. they literally added some mala pepper on the inside edges of the bread which added a unique numbing taste and was something i’ve never seen before! *they tell you, but just be warned the juice can splash out easily! 🐷 pan fried pork bun: 5/10 for me, 8/10 & 7/10 for my friends. it tastes like baozi i've had before. the pork was juicy but not something i'd order again 🍧 ice jelly: 9/10 for me, 6/10 and 5/10 for my friend. this is my second time having this chinese dessert and it's so refreshing. there's peanuts, brown sugar syrup, hawthorn flakes, raisins, and sesame seeds. i will say that it's for sure an ACQUIRED taste for others and may be a texture thing too 🏮 ambiance: 9.5/10 bc it was comfy and i liked the fancy decorations; it was so traditional yet modern. there was also halloween decor. id def come back for a date 👩🏻🍳 service: 9.5/10 every worker was so nice, even when i asked to record the kitchen for my video, but they forgot to ask if we liked the food- maybe it's because we order via a QR code. STILL, food came out FAST! 💡 extras: they have combo specials on the weekdays! also parking may be hard to find on busier days since it's a limited parking lot
So delicious!! The combo is really worth and great for two people but we couldn’t resist the pan fried pork buns and chili oil wontons which did not disappoint. Honestly the pan fried pork buns were filling enough and very juicy- do not sleep on them!!
food was delicious, i highly recommend the dan dan noodles and the chili oil dumplings! wait was a bit long but the workers were very nice
The food is great and the service is even better. The crispy pork buns were great and so were the chicken noodles
We ordered the Xiao long bao (I don't have a pic cause we destroyed them) and that thing was YUMMY. i think we ordered 3 orders of them. We also ordered the pan fried pork bun and that was super delicious. Pan fried beef was also good. I enjoyed everything. The service was pretty good. Nothing to complain about. The parking can get kind of gross. This is probably because we went during the busiest time of the day.
Very cute place. Our food was delicious and came out quickly. Our server was tentative and friendly. We will come back.

The food at Mian & Bao is excellent. The flavors are rich and well-balanced, and everything tastes freshly made. The noodles have great texture, and the bao are soft with generous, flavorful fillings. Overall, the quality is consistently high and definitely worth coming back for.

This is a great Chinese restaurant! We went for lunch, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We started with the Beef Pancake Roll and the Pan-Fried Chicken Dumplings. I especially loved the dumplings and would highly recommend them. They were packed with flavor, perfectly crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. We also tried the Xiao Long Bao, which were tasty and well-prepared.
Everything was so flavorful! The Xiao long Baos, pan fried pork buns, and chili oil were so juicy. The chili oil is really delightful, kind of sweet. The noodle texture in the spicy beef noodle soup was chewy. Delish overall! Also you get free dessert if you post a google review
Mian Bao is fantastic! The xiaolongbao are delicious with juicy filling and delicate wrappers, and the noodles are fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Everything tastes authentic and well made. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food. Great quality, comforting flavors, and a place I’m always happy to come back to. Highly recommend!

Went here with my wife on a cold Monday. Absolutely hit the spot. Got the Dan Dan noodles, terrific authentic Szechuan flavor that’ll numb your tongue. Secondly we got the chicken fried rice as a base, exactly what you’re looking for on a cold day. The best thing had to the be the pan fried pork buns, we burned our mouths we couldn’t resist the smell. Definitely an amazing meal, will be back.
THE most authentic Shanghai cuisine I’ve ever had in North America, and I’ve been to big cities like NYC, LA and Toronto. I feel lucky to bump into this gem. The Chef came from Shanghai, looks and talks like a typical Shanghainese, and made the Xiaolongbao as good as I had in Shanghai, if not better. Oh and it’s much beyond Xiaolongbao. Braised beef noodles, pan-fried buns, and little wonton are all top-notch. What’s even better is that this place has the best atmosphere, warm service, and reasonable price. I drive 25 mins one way for this bite weekly. The flavor of the broth brings me home which is 3000 miles away. Someone says homesick is not about coming home but losing home. I’m glad there’s a place in Austin that makes me feel home.
A small and cozy place. Food is flavorful and consistent. Smaller portions so you can try multiple dishes. The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes the kitchen area doesn’t smell good especially for people sitting at the bar close to the kitchen area. Hope they fix it soon.

Place looks cute and cozy. The noodles tasted 7/10, but too oily. The dumplings were great. The fried rice was good as well as it was less oily then noodles. They close at 930 so go earlier.
Went for lunch. My favorite were the Pan fried dumplings - vegetable and chicken. The soup dumplings were nice. Tried steamed dumplings too which went so well with the chilli oil. Another favorite was the dumplings in chilli oil. Very flavourful food. Definitely coming back for dumplings. The jelly noodles was ok. It is a fan favorite but I didn't enjoy the texture.
Soup dumpling was excellent. Beef noodle soup was tasty but was not a fan of the thin noodles. Servers were very attentive but am not a fan of the restaurant’s use of impersonal QR code menu ordering method. Restaurant is tastefully furnished, creating a warm inviting atmosphere. One big drawback though is that the tables are also really small, any party larger than 2 will find it a struggle to eat together.
Very cute restaurant! The pan fried beef bun and chicken cutlet were our favorite. Stir fry noodles also yummy, but shrimp was a little cold in the middle. Soup dumplings were not my favorite, have had better in Austin. Prices are good so would probably return!
Came in here with high hopes! Our spicy dumplings tasted like soap and fresh out the package. I've had plenty of soup dumplings before and they've never looked raw, they took them to the back and the chef said it was fine. The place gets two stars because their dan dan noodles and spicy beef noodle soup were good.

My friend from China recommended Mian & Bao. We went yesterday and ordered soup dumplings (good enough but wrapper stuck to the parchment paper so the soup came out while trying to get one on a spoon), fried chicken cutlet (very yummy), Dan Dan noodles (zero flavor or spice), spicy wontons (spicy but not flavorful), fried pork buns (exploded with oil on first bite, not very tasty except for the crispy underside), and the strawberry shaved ice cream (delicious). Service was okay until the end when we sat there for 15 minutes waiting for dessert, to have our table cleared, and pay. Our waiter disappeared. We finally asked someone else for help. I had high hopes for this place after my friend’s recommendation but for $65, this mostly bland meal wasn’t worth it. Maybe they were focused on working things out at the hot pot location that day. 🤷🏻♀️
