Super Great little fun sexy gem. A absolute must stop if you are a Mezcal or Tequila fan. James Beard awarded 2025. Not one miss on their cocktail menu. Innovative and Delicious!!!!! Going back again and again!!!!
Small, atmospheric, specialized tequila bar located above a great Mexican restaurant. The bar has happy hour Tuesday through Friday 5p-7p and all day Sunday. Their cocktail and shot list is diverse, drawing from their theme spirit. For example, their happy hour menu features an excellent margarita whose flavor is definitely out of the norm for Austin. The small bar room and patio can fill up, so arrive early to avoid a wait. The stairs to the bar are between the two buildings at this street corner, on the opposite side from the main entrance to Mi Madre. They share a few free parking spaces around the building and there is free parking on adjacent streets.
My wife and I came here for drinks after dinner...really cool vibe, and based on the reviews I thought it would be smaller, but there were chairs for around 20 inside, and the same at least outside. Friendly bartenders and reall good drinks...worth coming again for sure to suck up some ambience & atmosphere. 5 stars.
First time being at a Mezcal bar. Didn’t realize how small the place would be and only sits about 20 folks inside. There is an outside area also, but it was too chilly to stay outdoors. Service and drinks were just phenomenal.
Very cool 2nd floor spot with a speak easy feel that specializes in mezcal cocktails. Very ATX feeling spot - not the biggest bar in Austin but great for a nice little date or get together with friends. Fantastic spot to take out of towners to demonstrate the Austin vibe.
Techo Mezcaleria & Agave Bar is a great speakeasy on Manor Rd. If you are a fan of mezcal and/or tequila, this is the place for you. Small bar with a patio too (with a heater). Ian is a great bartender and took care of us. You should definitely try the “stuff in a cup” (Ian’s favorite mezcal cocktail with passion fruit). The spicy mango mezcal margarita was also enjoyable or you can sip one too. Great spot to to ring in the new year.
I am hard-pressed to name a better spot to end any night of the week in this section of Manor than Techo. Creative cocktails and multiple offerings for mezcal enthusiasts. Friendly bartenders and frequent brand activations with knowledgeable mezcal reps. Their patio on a breezy Texas night or the intimate inside seating both offer a pleasant taste of the city. Best for groups no bigger than 6
Love love techo!! I’m an Austinite and this will forever be my favorite bar to go to! Delicious drinks and always a good time here ! The selection of mezcal here is just awesome and the staff is always so friendly and fun! This is the bar where you get to sit back and relax and enjoy high quality drinks! I’ve come to this bar through out the years and it never disappoints!
Very cozy and amenable hidden gem in central Austin. As their name suggest, they are specialized in mezcal but the whole place, while tiny, has a great distribution between inside and outside seating
Love this place. Meant to come for a long time but never got around to it. Kept slipping my mind. Went there last month and was really good. Definitely not cheap, but great cocktails. I really like mezcal and they did some tasty things with it. One drinks that I was curious about was the one with mezcal *and* absinthe both in it and the bartender (who was super nice) said it was actually probably her favorite one and they balanced each other out in a surprising way. Tried it and it was super good.We had four different cocktails total (two of us) to just try different ones. Haha. The one with absinthe was definitely my favorite of them all. Also have had some mezcals to just sip on neat. The little place is awesome too. Great atmosphere. Pretty knowledgeable folks. Little tiny intimate room you can go into in there as well. Will totally come back again.
Charming, cozy, competent. Here you’ll find an incomparable agave selection lovingly curated by a student of the spirit (thanks for the journey, Ian). I’ll be back any time I find myself in Austin. Seek!
This bar is a dope gem in Austin! Definitely a place for intimate conversation and amazing Mezcal!! I had a Mezcal flight and it was easily the best decision I made. Ian is very knowledgeable and will guide you through your journey based on whatever your price point is! The aesthetic alone is truly amazing!!! You will not regret a trip to this bar!!
Borderline perfect. Really need to do something to the railing in front of the sunset but this place is fantastic.
This is my favorite mezcal bar in town because the bartenders actually know their stuff, unlike some of the other places in Austin. I really like their mezcal cocktails that highlight the smoky flavor of the mezcal, but they also have really good micheladas. This last time I went, they had Charro, a Mexican Pilsner that I’ll be sure to be look out for now because it was so good! The place is also a vibe with a dark, intimate room where the bar is, as well as a shaded patio outdoors.
Awesome little bar in east Austin, chill vibes and good drinks. They do it right here with their cocktails and have a variety of mezcals and tequilas for tasting.
This place is as legit as they come on this side of the border. The selection was spot on, the bartender knew his stuff really well and the cocktails were extremely good. They even have Raicilla and Pox in their menu, a very rare treat. We'll be back for more, no doubt about it!

Best mezcal room in Austin. Great selection of unique mezcal, perfectly balanced cocktails, and an ambiance that makes you want to plot a revolution.
For a second it felt like I was back in South America. They’ve nailed the decor and the menu. Vibes were immaculate, drinks delicious.

Love visiting Techo for tequila, Mezcal, and other Mexican spirits! Bartenders have good knowledge and recommendations if you just ask, and the vibe inside is awesome. Only things I wish were better is their outside seating is awkward in size and uncomfortable to sit on for very long, and their selection seems to be pretty inconsistent. But none of that seems to stop us from coming back!
Cozy little bar. Visited on a Thursday so we were lucky to find seats. Had the El Sancho and Toqué. The drinks were delicious and the vibe was very chill. Because of the coziness, the tables are really small and the place is dimly lit. It was a bit of a challenge to read the menu by candlelight. Overall, though, I dug it all.

Atmosphere and service is great. For someone who takes trips to Mexico every year to tour Tequila and Mezcal distilleries, the drinks were terrible Could not finish first round of drinks
I was just at Techo tonight. I was sitting at the only available table. I had just gotten a drink. The “doorman", I guess, ... Little guy 5 foot tall or so came over to me and told me I should give up my table because there was a group of three that wanted to sit down. So instead of enjoying my drink I had to just slam it and leave or stand while the group sat in comfort. I won't be back. I can't believe how customer service is these days, even for so called nice places. Just wanted to have a drink in peace and got robbed of that here.
