My buddy and I would meet her for a beer and a shot after work. Great staff, Great beers on tap, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Really great and thoughtful selection of beer and cocktails, wonderful atmosphere. One of my favorite Austin bars!
Great time here with a friend! Service was great and their happy hour was solid. Great vibes all around!
Great bar on the east side. Whiskey of the day is the way to go. Super friendly bartenders. Can’t go wrong.
For excellent drinks and excellent atmosphere, this has supplanted Red Headed for me in terms of the best cocktail bar in Austin.
This is one of my favorite bars in Austin.
My brother had his 60th birthday party at The Wheel. Great place & wonderful party! Great drinks!
Loved the atmosphere. Kind of grungy, yet pleasant. A lot of whiskeys for the crowd that enjoys them, too. The bar staff is excellent!
Do you end up in this area often? Do you live nearby, work nearby, commute past this bar? If so, then go inside, have a cocktail (specialty or traditional) or a beer (mostly hop-forward, but they've got some malt for you too), meet the staff. Congrats, you have a new favorite bar!
Cool bar with thoughtful cocktails in an area that doesn't have too many other options. Staff was great. They offer a discount if you ride your bike too
Nice bar, wonderful patio, and fantastic service. Will definitely drink here again
I've been casually stopping by for awhile, good place to hangout with friends, they welcome dogs, they have a cool patio and caring staff and don't forget the convenient water station 🙂
Amazing cocktails with a great patio and local vibe. Bartenders are great and very friendly. Bring a vinyl on Tuesdays and chill out!
One of the first bars I came to in Austin, and I'm glad it was. Not too crowded, everyone was really down to Earth. With they had a couple more low cost drink options, though.
Just what I was looking for: a casual and comfortable bar with excellent cocktails and a welcoming atmosphere. Great music. Great patio.
Great hidden place. Best for drinks and socializing. Has a decent sandwich food truck outside and a couple small plates at the bar
This place is so much fun! We did a Friday happy hour here and had a blast!
My favorite watering hole. They are chill, make amazing drinks, and are good conversationalists. Never had one bad experience in 2 years.
The wheel is a cool little bar. You might call it a dive bar. It's got a unique vibe, and space to play games and maybe do a puzzle. Well decorated, nice cocktails.
The regular tenders of the bar are respectable gents and the patio space is constantly improving for the clientele. Great selection of rotating drafts and the perfect bar for a lover of whiskey
Relax, perfect to spend an afternoon... has a launfromat next to it, if you need to do laundry you can just sit and wait at this beautifully decorated bar. It is bike themed! outdoor space, dog friendly! Lovely place!
Great bar, but terrible if you’re not from the neighborhood. If you live around the wheel I highly recommend its great whiskey selection and chill patio, plus the delicious sandwiches at ADP in the parking lot are a late night treat. If you’re not from the area it’s not a place I recommend you visit.
Low-Key vibe and Atmosphere with down to earth Employees, Very community/Family vibe. Def recommend if your looking for a chill hang n outing.
Great little neighborhood bar. Staff is top notch and great cocktail menu that's not overwhelming. Rotating whiskey of the day on the menu too! Love this place!
This is a great bar. Shares parking lot with ADP - bowls, tacos, tortas. Grab your food and take to bar.
The Wheel is my most natural haunt. After any of my three jobs in any order I always go unwind with conversation at the Wheel. It is industry friendly and also out of towner appropriate. Records on play. The staff are well versed and well read. DO NOT DISRESPECT THEM BECAUSE YOU WILL BE EJECTED. Great cocktails. Great people. Great beer on draft.
The Wheel is chill. A great place to catch drinks in a laid back environment. Pet friendly and friendly staff. If you respect the establishment it's a great place to end the night. Come hang out with friends and check out their vinyl nights where you can bring records to be played. While they only have a few beer taps their cocktails are top notch. The taps are excellent and there are also cans. Confirmed the do have the claw. Come as you are, enjoy your time, and be present at The Wheel.
One of the best neighborhood bars in town. Great selection of beer, solid patio, good music, and really non-fussy staff. Only negative is you have to ask for a key for the men's bathroom or bond with a stranger.
Dive bar. Parking is minimal but never an issue because there is parking in the direct area. Bar staff is friendly. Can get packed at times with minimal seating. Honestly a hipster bar with good drinks and good people. East Austin bar feel...smoking allowed on patio. Not a bad thing...but the beer tap fountain makes you feel like you have to pee due to the noise.
Cozy in all the right ways, this bar has some of the best bartenders you'll run into in Austin. They were more than happy to talk whiskey and craft beer and made the best drinks. The bartender was deliberate and fast and made sure I absolutely loved my drink. When my boyfriend didn't love his she made him another drink perfect to his liking while being genuinely pleasant and engaged. This spot is perfect for a date night or just to decompress after work.
Bar tenders are always friendly and helpful. Place has a great chill atmosphere. We'll come in for a drink and end up hanging out all evening. Small selection of draft beer, but plenty or bottle/cans and expertly made mixed drinks.
Knowledgable staff. Excellent recommendations after listening to personal likes and dislikes of our party. Nice atmosphere and ADP sandwiches next door if you get peckish. My new favorite whiskey bar.
I was very satisfied coming to this place after working at the beiber concert. We had a few drinks and we ended up getting my FAVORITE which was this delicious Molly Mule shown here in the first photo which had Vodka infused with a SUPERBLY DELICIOUS 🤤 amalgamation of ginger, jalapeño🌶, beet, lime🍋, & ginger beer which makes for a nice refreshing beverage. 🥃Staff was great, knowledgeable, as well as fun, which tied perfectly with the chill vibes of this bar. Definitely recommend! 😩👌👌
This place is the ultimate neighborhood vibe! Great beers on tap, rotating frequently. Whiskey cocktails are it's speciality but they can make anything - just ask. Great outdoor space no matter the weather. Best of all - dogs welcome.
Awesome bar in my neighborhood. Everything on east Manor closes early so The Wheel is much needed. Super friendly bartenders and $4 whiskey of the day drinks are just a couple of it's many perks. Great place to meet a date.
This place was a complete surprise. I was staying across the street for a business trip, and thought I'd go to this mysterious, even kinda scary-looking bar. I waked in and felt like I was at Cheers. The bartenders were funny, talkative, and friendly, and their banter with customers was entertaining and smart. They were so much fun! Aaron (so?) was a real kick as he was about as friendly and funny as they come, and simply a great guy. And their customers reacted by being funny as well. We had a long conversation about movies that had people debating what was Tom Cruise's best movie, but ranging far beyond Cruise. They had a nice selection of beer (including one if my favorites, Lagunitas Lil' Sumpin') on tap, and one if the best Manhattans I've ever had. I stopped in for a quick drink @7:00 and didn't leave until 11:30. 'Course, having terrific Tex-Mex food from The Loop News next to the bar helped. Can't wait to visit again.
One of my favorite places in the ATX. Excellent cocktails, great vibe. I love the covered heated patio in the winter time. Also it's just steps away from Austin Daily Press if you're hungry
One of the best places to have a drink and actually talk to people. It's never too loud, has a great patio, and the staff is awesome. They interact with you and try and make your visit as positive as possible. I like the NO tvs cuz it makes you enjoy the atmosphere.
This was my first time here and this place is amazing!! Great cocktails made by the most passionate and knowledgeable bartenders around. It’s an oasis. I may never leave.
Nice cocktail list, without trying to hard. Good beer list. Bartenders were amazing and attentive. Order food from the stand across the lot and they'll bring it to you. Great environment.
Nice bicycle themed bar with a good selection of craft beers on tap. They are also known for craft cocktails, but did not try any. You can order food from ADP next door and they will deliver it to your table. Delicious tortas and tacos. They have a bicycle repair maintenance/repair stand with tools and tire pump. The two bartenders were very nice and helpful. One of those places if I lived in Austin, I would like to visit often. In front of Wheel is a laundromat. Suds and duds!
Very cool, chill cocktail bar. Excellent drinks, great bartenders. Highly recommend.
Sweet local bar with incredible service. Jenny and Curtis are above and beyond bartenders. I’ve never had a bad time here ever. It was the first bar I came to when I arrived in Austin years ago and it hasn’t changed! Will always come back.
Great service always with Lauren and Aaron! Great daily whiskey specials! Awesome patio when weather permits. Top it all off with tasty food from Austin Daily Press and you cannot go wrong.
Bartenders were chill, attentive and knowledgeable. Loved the vibe and inside was welcoming. Outside patio is great and dig friendly when the weather is a little warmer!
Very friendly bartenders, amusing and interesting clientele, delicious drinks. Had better experiences in just a few visits than at my hometown dive. Good times to be had at The Wheel.
Great place to take your dog and meet with other really great people over cocktails. Their cocktail menu is amazing and their atmosphere is very relaxed and calm. Outdoor seating is a must on a nice day. Really enjoyed my time there and can't wait to go back!
This place is aesthetically pleasing with great cocktails and a nice beer selection, but gollyyyy! The wait staff is great! The two gentleman that served my husband and I were seriously fantastic! They were personable and very knowledgeable of their menu and gave superb recommendations. Will return based on staff interaction. (And because the cocktails are great)
Didn’t know what to expect after showing up randomly after a google search but really enjoyed it. Good bartenders and crowd. Would definitely come back!
Love this bar! Great spot to walk over to after a concert at Moody. They play vinyl records and have plenty of room to stretch out. Friendly bartenders always.
Fantastic bar. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Wide range of interesting liquors and beers. We went here on a recommendation of some people we met at the Doubletree around the corner and we were not disappointed. If you're expecting something fancy... this is not it. The Wheel is a funky, interesting bar and it was clear to us from the moment we came in that Dario and his team are serious about great drinks and excellent customer service. My partner is a bourbon nerd and Dario went out of his way to find something he would enjoy. I would highly recommend spending a few hours in here, prop yourself up at the bar and be prepared for real conversation. Alternatively you can grab a table in the corner and put the world to rights, or impress a date with some really great cocktails or craft beers.
In love with this place. Bar staff was so cool, super quick. Plenty of seating options both inside and out. Parking was not an issue super late (midnight/1am) but I could see parking being a challenge during the day. Super cool vibe on the inside. Chill, music not too loud, just love it. A great neighborhood bar.
Chill spot. Parking is kinda janky. One of the entrances to the lot is steep so if you have a small car, be very careful not to scrape the underbelly of your car.
Great place to stop by after work if you're in the food industry lots of similar people there. Cool atmosphere and the locals there are very welcoming. The bartenders won't hesitate to answer any questions and are very friendly and when you see them again they already remember you. It's pleasant to get a smile after a hard days work!
Had a few dates here at the beginning of my relationship with the occasional coming over just for a drink or two. Low key and relaxed place, stiff cocktails, and good beer. The bartenders and door guy are nice as well. Been going since 2016.
The Wheel does an excellent pairing of bring-your-own vinyl and happy hour for Tuesdays that I highly recommend. Adjacent to the wheel is ADP, which runs a $3 taco special on Tuesdays as of March 2025. An excellent place to relax with friends after the work day!
Really good drinks. Nice patio. Difficult parking but worth it for the vibes. Nice music. Chill atmosphere.
Great place I love it not too crowded and there is smoking patio outside the bartender was super nice the beer was good plenty of parking and great location around other bars as well highly recommend it
We came in for HH after Sour Duck and really enjoyed ourselves. The bartenders were friendly and the HH options decent. A small indoor area to escape the heat, but there’s a larger shady outdoor seating area as well. Would go back when it’s darker to sit outside and enjoy the evening.
Atmosphere was great. Laycee and Dom were excellent and so friendly. We got well shots at only 5 bucks! We needed them after the JT concert at moody center. Heads up this is the closest bar to that venue (walking), we took lime scooters and were there in no time! My colleagues got whiteclaw, they only have mango and black berry though so def should upgrade to black cherry and lime but i got a Mexican martini after trying and denying the black berry whiteclaw lol and it was superb! Literally one of the best I’ve had in Austin! I got 2, Dom made my 1st and made me come back for a 2nd made by Laycee, and both were perfect! They have an outdoor patio and chill indoor bar top. Check this place out, doubt you’ll be disappointed!
I used to frequent The Wheel often, I moved away and moved back and I am glad to see that they’re still providing the same type service and quality cocktails. Bartenders are pretty awesome, experienced and friendly. I have been back twice already and plan to continue to come back. Great place for a night cap; especially if you’re not done with date night at nearby restaurants. The outside seating area is nice and chill. Check it out with friends.
Really great atmosphere here. They make a pretty good Manhattan too!
Really good beers and cool outdoor seating
Great spot to wind down from a long day of work or to just hangout with some friends. They have a great selection or beer and liquor to satisfy any boozy need
Drinks were on point. I would come back here again to get a nice whiskey sour. I didn’t enjoy the smoking area. That needs to be separated from the outdoor
Interesting rotating tap selection. They always have a different sour available, but sometimes it can be expensive. Chill vibe, good craft cocktails, allows you to receive food from ADP next door. Sometimes there is little seating.
Been coming here after work for a few months now. Very friendly to service industry, always good bar tenders. Just tried the house margarita for the first time, and it slapped! Should've done it sooner.
Atmosphere is really nice with bicycle decor all around. The cocktails are alright and will be $10+. There is an awesome sandwich place right in front of it tho.
Drinks were not it for me, a lot of them had very similar ingredients or not particularly great sounding combinations. I liked the environment and the workers.
The daily whiskey is a good deal. Seating only supports parties of 4 or fewer. Acoustics are awful. Service is good. +1 star if you're a hipster.
This place is ok, drinks are good. Atmosphere is good but the place is small. If you sit outside good luck being able to breathe with all the smokers around.
I really want to like this bar. It's cute, has a nice variety of seating... inside and outside and kinda-dense-in-a-good-way. The bartenders are cool folks with lots of great knowledge. The music isn't too loud - a good volume for talking but still bumping :-) Unfortunately though... its quite expensive, and the staff isn't super transparent about the pricing. For instance, the whiskey of the day is supposed to be $5. I got it with ice, and was charged an extra dollar. This might be trivial, but it sucks getting charged without warning, especially for something that shouldn't get an upcharge (even if the on-the-rocks pour is slightly more liquid)... kinda like getting charged for napkins. And in general, everything's pretty pricey for a neighborhood bar. I guess I'm a little too old school for all the new hotness in Austin. But I don't see any reason to visit The Wheel when you have so many other places that are both inexpensive and cool.
By "dog friendly patio," they really mean "disgusting chain smoker oriented patio." What cruel person would let their dog breathe that much smoke? Food from their partner restaurant is great if you eat it inside.
Heard good things about this place and was told they have a rotating $4-5 Whiskey of the Day. If that's what they used to have they have since raised prices. They charged $8 for a single of the Whiskey of the Day and charged another $1 for getting it neat. I saw another comment about someone being charged $1 for ice, so it looks like they tack on extra charges that they don't have to include in the price of the drink so everything looks less expensive. It had a neighborhood bar feel to it and would be worth checking out if you're already nearby, but know it's a little pricey and you can't trust the listed prices to be final. I will say that service was very fast.
Really cool atmosphere if you just want a bar, online said they served tacos, and they don't, staff a little uppity, actually pretty rude not impressed
No locks on the bathrooms or stalls to allow customers using the bathroom any privacy while they overpay for a rude staff and bad drinks. Bar staff confirmed they took the locks off because some customers were doing too many illicit drugs in there and then laughed about it. Will not be back.
Every The Wheel’s members were great! Except for the hat and mustache bartender guy. 1 star for u. You ruined the experience. CLIENTS: be aware.
The man kicked us out because he didn't want to serve us, he was lazy and talking bad words to us, never coming in my life to this bar
The bar back here with a greasy man bun is on a power trip and will snatch drinks out of your hand aggressively without calmly asking you to leave the bar.
You have to give at least a star and I did not want to give that!!!!!! I have been to the wheel a couple of years ago. I really liked the vibe then. My sister was in town I chose the wheel again yesterday. However, the experience was definitely not the same!!!! The bartender (male) was blatantly rude.Answers were short as though I had offended him by asking questions. I have never experienced that type of behavior from a bartender of being so dry and non verbal. I left the drink I'd purchased and I wish to never return!!!!
