Charming , friendly and the food is all cooked there and a REAL BIG TREAT - So sweet and real ! We loved it
So delicious, beautiful sunny day, waited thirty minutes for a table, had pollo chicharon, insanely hot, crispy and flavorful, the mofongo made with pork, plantain and yucca and served with a flavorful broth was amazing. Barely needed the pibil pork but so glad I ordered it. My third visit, will return again and again
Casa Adela balances quality and value better than most restaurants. Their ingredients are top-notch, flavorful and freshly prepared. This restaurant created moments of pure culinary alchemy! Rightly, the staff shows unwavering niceness. I'll return for more.
The food and the service is outstanding. No wonder they’ve been here over 50 years. The atmosphere cultivated by the staff/family is warm and convivial. Not to mention the prices are exceedingly reasonable for the quality of food. The food is made to order I just don’t have enough words for how good the entire experience was.
Always great food and vibes. Hope they add bad bunny the Tripletas sandwich. Especially for those that miss the island 💙💙💙💙💙🙏🙏🙏
This spot caught my eye by chance and kept my attention. The flavors here are noteworthy. The chef knows what they're doing and the place feels like a retreat. The staff shows kindness and flexibility, and meals arrive quickly. Regardless of the crowd, I recommend this restaurant.
I been to a lot of Puerto Rican restaurants, in the Bronx, Florida and in Puerto Rico. This hands down gotta be in the top two. The food just brings backs those grandmas home cooking vibes. Like the food is special. The sorrelos were nice with guava and cheese inside. Can't wait to go back. And they even had pastelles.
We went there 3 days ago with my husband and my friend and really the food was very delicious. It's a classic Puerto Rican food.
I don't even know where to start. Everything was delicious. The staff was super friendly. BYOB is always a plus.
Picked up a friend and her mom for lunch, we all here for the first time, I've heard so much about this place that I couldn't wait to try the food , and it didn't disappoint. Food was Amazing and so affordable, it's a small place so depending on the time you go it could be a little bit of a wait time .
The interior is small so there is limited seating so there may be a wait but it is worth it. The food is authentic and very good. The prices are reasonable as well. Will definitely go back!
I got the pillow guisada and I want to eat it when I am sick, when I am well, really just all the time. The Maduros and tostones are so good!! Definitely will have to come back the next time we are in the city.
We had the pleasure of dining at their restaurant before, where the food impressed us. When we reached out for catering at our baby shower, they not only met but exceeded our expectations. The exquisite food truly made our event extra special. Thank you immensely for your outstanding service.
I expected run-of-the-mill but got remarkably good. This establishment shows real quality. Dishes look and taste incredible here. Their workers demonstrated care that guarantees I'll return. I'm making plans to come back soon.
Casa Adela, a true New York City gem. I have been coming to this most amazing Puerto Rican enclave for many years and not much has changed from the days when Doña Adela cooked herself. There must be a special place for her in heaven. It's perhaps among the very few community restaurants left in the city. The warmth, the friendliness and personal attention is only second to the great food. By far the best Mofongo in town, the chuletas, the rotisserie chicken and arroz con gandules, will leave you thinking of how soon you can return. One of a kind, kind of place...
Nice cozy place. If you want great food, be prepare to wait. My fiancé and I waited 1 1/2 hours to be seated, ( it's worth the wait). The restaurant has about 5 tables. Staff are very friendly. I being Cuban had to try this place out after seeing it on Facebook. I had the beef stew with rice. My fiancé had the pork chops with rice. We had green and yellow plantains as well as alcapurras. Like I said, it's worth the wait. Prices are very reasonable, but small portion of food is served. Small enough to make you full and not over stuffed.
Right in the heart of Loisaida and Ave C (aka, "Alphabet City"), en el bajo Manhattan, you definitely feel at home with good old home-like cooking at Casa Adela's Restaurant. Great food like Sancocho, Pernil y Arroz con Habichuelas, Pollo Asado, y Bistec Encebollado, among other delicious dishes. A quaint and family oriented spot. You won't be disappointed.
First time at Casa Adela, I follow them on IG and I was around the area and decided to come today! Best decision I made the food was everything Felt like I was eating at Abuela house in PR. The pork chops, rice and plantains were everything and we can’t forget the salad with avocado and Kola Chamapgne! Happy they stayed opened and will be back!
I am a Puerto Rican that is married with a lovely Russian man and who is finally moving in to NYC after years coming to the city for, sometimes long or short visits, and I have to say this: I am so grateful and satisfied of having found this gem of spot. Is just marvelous, so authentic and cozy. The food was just a huge hug to my soul ❤ and I can't wait to come back. I am definitely a forever customer from now and on. My husband favorite dish of the one we tried was the Cuban sandwich, he said was even better than his favorite Cuban sandwich he had ate in Miami. I can't recommend this place enough!!! Again thanks for the delicious food and great attention and service. See you soon!!! 😎
My first visit. Tasted the roasted pork shoulder with plantain which is rather unique to Puerto Rican and fried chicken with yellow rice which are the same as served in other restaurants. But the West Indian sauce is really nice and adds to the taste of fried chicken. This is a small eatery with limited seating capacity. It has nevertheless a wonderful character.
First time here. Been hearing a lot of good news about the.food here. My friends and I arrived here shortly before 6pm. Luckily we did! The place is not very big but the food here is absolutely delicious 😋🤤. We ordered carne guisado, chicharrones de pollo, yellow rice, white rice, black, red beans and a side order of tostones. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes.
We came on a Sunday around 2pm. The restaurant was packed with people from all cultures and everyone seated seemed to be enjoying their meals. I was so excited to eat here that I couldn’t even decide what to order. We ordered to go. We ordered the rotisserie chicken, pernil, arroz con gandules and potato salad. Everything was delicious, perfectly seasoned and fresh. Must try location. Authentic Puerto Rican food with old school New York vibes in the cafe.
Seasoning. Only word that is relevant for this place. Stopped in on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, starving after looking for parking for a solid 40 minutes. Food made up for the search. Rice, Beans, and Mofongo were all delicious but the Bistec Encebollado was a STANDOUT. Delicious. Place is small, so I’m sure it gets busy but is definitely worth any wait. Only grip is it’s cash only— I’d definitely frequent more often they accepted cards. SO GOOD!!
The waitress was very sweet. The sancocho was a very generous portion with big chunks of yuca and potato, extremely well seasoned. The pernil was tender, crispy skin, and plenty of meat with enough fat. The rice and red beans were both also very well seasoned. Everything was affordable and delicious and I want to come back again
My son, who lives in the neighborhood, recommended and took us to this place. The food was wonderful and the staff very courteous. BACALAO A LA VIZCAINA This was my dish today. The 2nd in the photos. In the Puerto Rican place that Raj took us to. It had olives in the dish and I really liked it as well. Not a huge fan of olives, but like with everything else, trying to change to like it. "Why cod?" I thought, but looks like the recipe calls for it. Chicharon De Pollo and Chicken Stew were very nice as well.
Im born and growing in Puerto Rico, im moving to Boston a couple years and let me tell u something this is the best puerto rican restaurant i never trying here in USA the food taste like home, prices very good, the staff are humble and friendly people and definitely going back with my family
This Puerto Rican restaurant is a true gem, offering an authentic taste of the island's flavors right in your neighborhood. With only six tables, this small restaurant can get pretty crowded. While there's no printed menu at the restaurant, you can easily find their offerings on Google. The roasted pork and octopus salad are standout dishes, prepared with precision and bursting with flavor. With over 44 years of experience, it's clear they've perfected their menu. The restaurant radiates a charmingly nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of 1980s Puerto Rico, complete with handwritten receipts and waiters calling out orders. The attentive staff is more than happy to guide you through the menu and ensure a memorable dining experience. Just remember to bring cash, as it's the only form of payment accepted here.
On a rainy windy day I was craving a warm dish and the sancocho hit the stop! It was absolutely delicious and didn't disappoint! I will definitely be returning for the other things on the menu. The coffee was espectacular and the flan- yummmm! So happy I found this spot- true Puerto Rican flavor/ sazon!
Right off the jump you can tell this is the definition of a local place with people constantly coming in and out to grab to go orders. It’s a very small CASH ONLY restaurant with only about 5 tables so expect a wait. As a party of 2 on a Monday we waited about 20 minutes, but we’re encouraged to look at the menu and put our order in so the food could come out soon after we sat down (took about 10 min). We ordered 2 half chickens which came with beans and rice, a side of roast pork, octopus salad, and a chicken noodle soup. The chicken was solid and flavorful, I chose the yellow rice while my friend chose the yellow rice with peas (I recommend the ladder if you like beans). My friend and I both chose the black beans, let me tell you as a non bean eater these kind of wowed me in a simplistic manner as they had a subtle yet complex flavor to them. For me just a side of the roast pork was perfect as it was very good just rich. My friend got the chicken noodle soup which was very good. We were both shocked at how big the portion was with not just broth actual chunks of chicken and vegetables. The octopus salad was the only thing I would not get again while good I just did not think that it was worth $19 dollars. Overall this is one of the best most satisfying meals I’ve had in a while. Also, with a total of $60 it does not hurt that the price to food ratio is outstanding even keeping up with places outside the city. If your anywhere near the area you need to go here.
I only ordered what my grandmother would make so that I could compare and have that home-cooking comfort! Nothing is ever as good as grandma’s cooking, but needless to say this is close #2!!! Arroz con gandules, mofongo with pernil, and alcapurria was my favorite but you cannot go wrong with anything. A small, cash only place that has a true homey neighborhood feel. Just waiting to go back!
The food was very good. We had pork chops, yellow rice, plantains, and beans. We ate everything and left nothing In our containers at the end of the night. We took the train over from Manhattan to the area just for this restaurant. It had been recommended to us by a Brooklyn Native. Located next-door to a liquor store on one side and a home on the other. Nice and quiet area and not too many people out.Because Of the decorations, the place is easy to find and is highly visible from the outside. When we walked up, there was a man outside tidying up . He greeted us and let us know that we were in the right place for a good meal. He asked us what we wanted, told us history about place and then led us inside so that we can see the menu. When we got up to the counter, we were greeted by the cashier who was very were very patient as we tried to figure out exactly what we wanted. Everyone we talked to was extremely friendly and didn’t mind giving recommendations according to what we said we wanted to eat. While we were there, the inside was packed with what looked to be families from the area . All of the tables were full. There was not any outside seating. Many people were coming in getting take out orders. Looked to be a very popular spot for the local community. We wanted to wait and take our time eating but took our food to go instead. Kid friendly. Not dog friendly as there was no outside seating. Not good for groups. Great for eating alone.
Every bite makes you appreciate good ingredients. Reasonable cost for excellent cooking. Excellent attention from staff with rapid food delivery. The menu won't hurt your wallet. I'll definitely return soon.
Great place, you won't be disappointed! It's a little wait but once you are in, all your worries go away... it's like going back home, the place where you grew up. The atmosphere is filled with those familiar aromas and you want to stay forever. It was cold in New York but at Casa Adela, UT was warm, cozy and a celebration. You feel like part of the family. You can pick your food with your eyes closed, all their menu is just excellent! Fair priced. Very good experience, next time in New ayork, we will stop there.
Casa Adela is a small, charming family owned Puerto Rican restaurant nestled in the East Village. The food and service will both warm your soul whether you love Puerto Rican food or new to it. We had (pictured) the Cuban sandwich, it was absolutely amazing.. The sancocho soup which was also very good and the chicharon which is fries chicken and yellow rice with red beans. Everything on the menu looked fantasic but we couldnt eat everything lol. I highly recommend Casa Adela, you will not be disappointed. I will definetly be a repeat patron. Thank you for the wonderful service and food.
This was my first time trying Porto Ricain food, that was so good! The service was so nice, the food was perfect, people around were laughing and enjoying this place while eating. One thing to change, in my opinion, is to put more PR music/old latino Island songs. This place is kinda cheap to eat so you can enjoy as much as you wish. Be aware, the take only cash. Recommend you to go there.
Super tasty puerto rican stables. Gorgeous meal that feels homecooked in a no non sense busy hole in the wall kind of restaurant. Curious about so many options on the menu I will have to go back.
Food was absolutely delicious. The mofongo with chicken is something I'm going to dream about. The sancocho was also a hit with my group. We had tostones and the rotisserie chicken with rice & beans as well. We went at prime lunch time so service was understandably slow though very friendly. We did have a short wait for a table. There was a slight miscommunication where we asked for one tostones order and one beef patty but received two tostones orders. Would have been nice to try the patty - next time! The place is cash only and doesn't take reservations.
Juiciest pork chop ever. Would 100% go back. This is the spot if you want some old-school Puerto Rican food.
Great food, great prices and very friendly staff. Highly reccomended. It is a very authentic Puerto Rican spot that made me feel as if is was in Pinones Puerto Rico. All in all I would defintely reccomend this place to anyone who wants an authentic local experience.
Iconic Puerto Rican restaurant named after the late Adela Fargas (1936-2018) on Loisaida Avenue. The rotisserie chicken, beef with onions, rice and beans, and sweet plantains were delicious. Fast efficient service. No credit cards but you can use Zelle. Reasonable prices. And hey you might even see a celebrity as we did tonight.
A small resturant with big flavor! Food is on the money, I had chuleta con-con, with arroz con condules, ensalad, (pork chop, rice and salad) excellent. There were six of us, luckily we were seated pretty fast, but people waiting outside in the cold to seat and eat. The food is worth the wait, not expensive at all....
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Casa Adela, and it instantly became my go-to spot for authentic, home-style Puerto Rican cooking. The place has such a wonderfully warm and homey feel, and the entire staff is incredibly nice, making you feel like family from the moment you walk in. The food here is truly exceptional. Every dish I tried was packed with flavor—seasoned perfectly without being overly salty. The portions are fantastic; everything is served in generous, sharing sizes. I highly recommend starting with the fried chicken even as a side, it was a huge, crispy, and savory portion. We also loved the mofongo, which had deliciously tender pernil mixed in and crispy chicharron on top, and the savory bacalao. Don't skip the pink beans either; they add wonderful depth of flavor to the meal. While the restaurant is small and cozy, that only speaks to its immense popularity it’s clearly a neighborhood treasure, evidenced by how busy the kitchen was filling both dine-in and pick-up orders. The service, despite the bustle, was attentive and dedicated. For dessert, the flan is a must-try; at only $3, it’s the perfect, sweet ending. Casa Adela is a vibrant, flavorful experience that offers incredible food and service. Just remember this traditional spot is cash only!
I look forward to passing through Manhattan on the way home because I know I can hop off the FDR and be at Casa Adela's in minutes. Just thinking about the food makes me hungry, and I can't wait for my annual visit. Eveything is good, my game plan? Order everything 🤣 (You can always take home leftovers). Save room for flan and the best coffee in town.
Delicious Puerto Rican food in a fun, casual environment. From the friendly welcome and service to the great food, I enjoyed it all. Portions were extremely generous for some dishes and went to about normal. The Puerto Rican friends I was with shared that the portions were smaller than they expected, but they still enjoyed it as well.
Not trying to be bias because my god family is Puerto Rican but the food was just like my ma's cooking. This place was close to my hotel. I found it from a YouTube video I watched by EduardoToro_PR. Food: I had the chicken stew and chicken soup...they both was absolutely amazing. Chicken was beautifully seasoned and tender. The both was out of this world. The tostones were amazing as well. The rice and beans were awesome. I tried mofongo for the first time...sorry but im not a fan. The prices for everything were actually really nice for this economy. But I still give the food 10/10. Service: they guys in the restaurant were super cool. Service was quick even with all the food that I ordered. They were hustling. Much respect to them. 10/10 Atmosphere: when I say it felt like a mom and pop shop place....I even felt like I was at home. From the guys working, to the people eating and even outside the restaurant, everyone was just vibing and chill. I was even watching a soccer game which was awesome. I recommend this place to everyone. They also accept cash too which I like because I used cash my whole trip. My photo didn't include everything.
Great puerto rican food. Highly recommend the fried chicken, we had it as side order and it was still in big portion. Roast chicken was also good. Each food can be in sharing size. Yellow rice was nothing special, but the pink beans add more flavor. Place is packed with guests. Cash only, but still taxed.

Casa Adela is on the LES of Manhattan and serves everyday authentic home style Puerto Rican Comfort Food. staff is very friendly and helpful. Pablo Pamias-Mulero
Excellent food, feels like home, and made with Love. I can't tell you this is my favorite Puerto Rican restaurant! The rotisserie chicken is made to perfection 😋 I have now been coming her for years! It's become one of my favorite Spanish food restaurants 😋 But I just had the Alcapurrias and this was not good made this way. This looks like a Colombian croquetas, not Puerto Rican. Please don't mess with the recipe of anything. It was perfect as it was. Also it was over cooked, and dry.
Food and service were awesome. Mofongo was garlicky and had delicious pieces of pork mixed in. The pernil was flavorful and the alcapurrias brought me back to my childhood. The employees standing in the background talking loud, cursing and acting hood took away from the charm of this spot with the pictures on the wall that play homage to old Puerto Rico and Adela.
On one of my recent visits to the big apple i found myself craving Spanish food but not just any Spanish food, i specifically wanted food that could mentally transport me back to Puerto Rico and to my fortune, after an hour of walking i find this small place called Casa Adela. If you've lived in the island I'm sure you would've felt the same, i immediately knew this was the right place. The minute we got there they took care of us even though they were not ready to open yet. They placed an umbrella, table and chairs for us outside and took our order. These service was excellent. There waiter was very friendly and efficent. The food did the trick to transport me back to my island and i was very satisfied. I look forward to another visit to try some mofongo or some sea food salad. If you're craving that good Spanish food and great service i advice to pay them a visit and treat yourself and your taste buds. 😉🍲🥘
Came across this no-frills, cash-only BYOB Puerto Rican restaurant in an online list of cheap eats in the city. This part of alphabet city is clearly predominantly Hispanic, with Latin music blasting from a boombox and neighborhood conversations conducted in Spanish only. Of course, the deep fried carbs were great. I've never had alcapurias before, and I am now a convert... and they are only $2.50 for the plate! The oxtail stew was probably my favorite of the entrees, with a hearty flavor profile, but lighter than the beef stew which I would have appreciated better in winter. Overall, a very satisfying meal; I might have eaten too much. 😅
It was our first time to Casa Adela and i can say we were very impressed by the food! We were 2people and had a whole rotisserie chicken which was cooked fantastically (very nicely favored but not too much!). We also had mofongo which was delicious as well. It's a small restaurant with only a few tables and it gets very crowded so you might have to wait quite a while to get a table (no reservations). The staff is very busy because they do lots of pick-up so the food tends to be slow. Food prices are very affordable but remember to bring cash!
Food was delicious and price was fair! We were new to the place and were asking a few questions to the waiter and he seemed not happy at all about us talking to him. Anyways, food was cozy and the place is a museum, we had mofongo with pernil, alcapurrias, sancocho, pastelon y Fanta de naranja, we will be back definitely 💯
4.5 4.5 Really liked the food here, flavorful but not salty for me. This time, also ordered Bacalao; yuca with onions; mofongo which has pernil mixed in, and crispy chicharron on top (less pricey than the mofongo with pernil or chicken entree). Flan was so good and only $3. Chicken chicharron were crispy and tasty but were not meaty pieces. Pernil sandwich was pressed, kind of plain. 2 hours from being outside/waiting for a table to finishing our meal. I did notice that once seated, it took a while for our order to be taken. There were only 2 people attending to the tables but staff is very nice, homey feel when eating there. Kitchen was busy- noticed a lot of pick-up orders too. Small restaurant, tables near each other; with a small restroom.
Check my YouTube channel aboricualifeinusa for more..The food was good not great like I imagined it..The alcapurrias needed a bit more seasoning and the pastelillos filling was a bit salty..The star was the bistec encebollado. Rice and beans was ok. The place is small and you have to wait outside to be seated. The place only takes cash. This is an institution around here. Keep up the good work.Take this review not as negative but constructive criticism. I have been to many restaurants and I would hate to see them fail or go away.Puertorican food is something else. Acho PR es otra cosa.
YUM! This really felt like family dining. No extra frills or pretense. We came in as a group of 5 and as soon as we sat the guy serving us made sure to ask us if we were planning to order the chicken so we could put some aside while we studied the menu. We throughly enjoyed our time and went home full.
I went here 6/21 to eat lunch and i got the Roast pork with rice and beans the lady serving us was nice… it’s a small family owned restaurant… the food took about 20 minutes and it was good… after we finished we were waiting for our check then there was almost a fight outside the store with a lady and one of the workers!… but other than that the food was very good and I would recommend anyone to come and eat here!!!
First came to this place for brunch/lunch and it was so good! The food is delish - we shared tostones, maduros, and yuca for the table as well as the fried chicken cracklings and it was all excellent though I will say super filling so plan accordingly. I also got the chicken sandwich which was SO good and perfectly breaded and seasoned. Just a note that fried orders will take a little longer so make sure you get them in first. Also certain things, like the pernil, aren't available until later in the afternoon (maybe past 1pm) because of the cook time required. Also note that this place is cash only! All in all, a super affordable and filling meal with great service and the best hole-in-the-wall atmosphere you could want.

I'll stay neutral on this restaurant. I came here after seeing a post on Facebook about this location. It was a few months after the original owner Adela has passed away. Her daughter in law and son took over the business. I had high expectations and wanted so much to come here. I had this place saved on my Google maps. So one day I was in the area and had to make a stop. Not sure if it was because they had just opened for the day or if was just a bad day for staff but I didn't feel the welcome mat placed out. As a Puerto Rican myself, we are some of the most friendly, outgoing people you may meet as a culture in whole, not everyone but most are. Don't get me wrong, we also have our days that just want to be left alone, just like most people and we have a few bad apples as well. Yet as a business, that should never be part of your restaurant model or attitudes. After reading a few comments about how this establishment has changed after the original owner passed away. I would have really liked to have met the woman who this restaurant was named after, Ms Adela herself. If you read more of the lower ratings comments, you'll notice that they are coming in more lately due to the new ownership. It mostly has to do with staff missing the point of friendliness and customer service. I think the food prices are on the higher end. I mean I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and have a few different Puerto Rican, Dominican and even Spanish Chinese restaurant around the area that serve up also good food for lesser prices. This restaurant inside is a bit small to be sitting and eating at. I can add, the little food I did order was very good. Yet as for me, I came, I tried it but I see no reason or need to come back again. I personally was very disappointed.
I only try and leave good reviews but last night was extremely disappointing. I have been going here since I was a kid and that was the worst meal I’ve experienced at Casa Adela. The arroz con gandules was mushy so I asked for white rice and then the white rice had no flavor and he didn’t bring beans either. I was a server for many years so i try and be patient but the two young servers were distracted and non attentive and could use some training. I also tried getting my server to take my to go order and he left the restaurant abruptly and never took it. I had to ask one of the men doing togo orders to put in my mofongo for my grandma( who has also loved Adela’s for decades) and she mentioned that the mofongo was the worst she has had. I hope yall can get it together because this is such a neighborhood fixture and was one of the last Puerto Ricans restaurants I felt was authentic and consistent.
When I first moved to the lower Eastside a little over 40 hrs ago, I used to frequent Casa Adela quite often. During this time, they would cook very traditional Puerto Rican dishes, that you can only now find only if you cook them at home. As a 67yr old P.R man, I am a little insulted at the dishes they now cook, which is mostly Dominican fare, being passed as Puerto Rican dishes. You folks that are familiar with real P.R food, know what I'm talking about!
Service slow, waitress was not attentive (yet left her a very good tip), small space only about 6 or 7 tables. Came one hour away for a Puerto Rican experience and was so disappointed. The only thing that was ok was the food. Recommendations ? I recommend take out for the locals within a 10 block radius anyone outside of the 10 block radius it is not worth it. I gave three stars just for being Puerto Rican cuisine, wish I can give 5 stars but the hype is not worth it. Service sucks, and to small of a place.
This very small family run Puerto Rican restaurant has tasty dishes that have that home made flavor with very reasonable pricing. We uploaded their menu foe you to see what they offer and at what prices. The they have about 3 or 4 tables to sit 4 , a larger table to accomidate 6 or so and one or two 2 seat tables. Situated in what is known as alphabet city lin the lower east side so the establishment has no parking and the decor is very weathered with sidewalk seating when it is warmer. You will enjoy your meal. They are a cash only establishment . We had the pork mofongo that was pretty good with 2 Alcapurias that were over cooked and a bit too greasy. The pork and yellow rice were barely warm otherwise we would have given them 4 stars. They are worthy of 4 but they need some work to get better.
My mofongo was delicious, don’t get me wrong. But I also ordered tostones and they just straight up did not bring them out (at least I wasn’t charged). Kind of a nightmare, seating-wise, if your party size doesn’t match a table size (i.e. odd number).
Casa Adela is good but there are better spots to eat at considering wait time and payment options. (They only take cash and you're usually waiting 45 minutes for a seat.) \n\nThe food here is g…
The food was ok. Not as good as it use to be. It's August and they have no Air Conditioning. They ran out of ice. I don't think I'll be going back. The food is just not hitting the way it use to.

Small place. Food was not that great. I ordered Mofongo with Pernil. The Mofongo was very dry and the pernil looked very old. Also ordered the alcapurria. It was very oily, soggy and didn't have much meat or a good flavor.
I was so disappointed. How can they call that Puerto Rican food. I had beef stake encebollado. It was so over cooked with a garlic flavor. Not well seasoned. Beans need more flavor What happened to adding calabaza if not potatoes. The only thing that was cooked well was the white rice. So sad that people think that is Puerto Rican food. A long time ago it was good , not now. Will not recommend or go back to eat. Amen

Cashier staff got a bad attitude. Got served a cuban sandwich that was clearly burned and overdone to the point that they decided to turned it some type of roll. Don't recommend this place at all. Plenty of other places around the area with pleasant staff and nicer food. Don't go here if you have decent and reasonable expectations which they clearly don't deliver. Basic basic and poor service!!
No parking! Once you leave your car double parked with your family inside the car and go inside to at least order take out, you will be in the counter for a while without being acknowledged, I took a menú from one of the tables already occupied, when ready to order I asked some questions which were answered and kept walking. Only hunger kept me from not leaving yet, then I felt uncomfortable and I told my aunt we needed to leave. Our clothes stunk of old frying grease for a while, I hate leaving these kind of reviews, but it had to be said.
First of all I’m from Ponce, Puerto Rico and we came to casa Adela restaurant thinking that there was going to be good food, well NOOOO, about the shrimp mofongo the sauce was good but the mofongo was dry. My husband had steak with white rice and beans and it looked like they ran the steak through boiling water, it was pale and bland, he said the beans were good. The rice portion was like a portion for a 8 year old child. The place is ok, not so organized. The server wasn’t so cheerful. I learned my lesson not to believe every reviews. I also wanted to buy pasteles but I couldn’t because they didn’t have any, they only had frozen pasteles to be sold, I mean how I’m going to buy something that I can’t taste before purchasing it smh. The only thing that we saw that looked good was the chicken which lots of people was eating chicken lol. Would we go back, I DON’T THINK SO!!!! NO WE WON’T BE GOING BACK!!!
(Update) ain’t nothing no grandma vibes you pay cash and you eat then you leave. Go to que chevere down the street they don’t pay influencers like this place most people rated just off hype que chevere it’s faster cleaner and made with love. I came here years ago before moving to Miami 25 years ago. all I could do is remember how great this place was and having a mofongo. I was disappointed today after watching YouTube reviews fat joe and Anthony Ramos hype this place back up for me. I waited 1 hour and 10 mins after being told 20 minutes and only because I stood in the front door and other people who came after me got there tables and ask them to get me a table seems like the other people felt sorry for my wait time. The young man with the afro not so much, he pointed at the largest table 🤷♂️you gotta wait for them to finish the people came after me and I had to wait on them to finish, the excuse was because I was 4 people and a baby they kept sitting 2 people at a time before me they couldn’t wait the other people so I could sit down but I was determined and finally sat down. I ordered 6 plates and and 4 frituras the food was a 3.7/5 over all and I was starving and the service was a 1.2/5 and price are $$ not a cheap eat I was extremely disappointed. Casa Adela you represent a people those flags you have all over your front is something that is represented in Art culture music and food with much Elegance and Excellence and with very much pride that’s why we come from all over nobody I sat with was a local. Please get organized this will be your down fall.
I was super excited about eating here based on the reviews. But, my husband and I were so disappointed. The service was great, but the food was not. Seasoning was lacking in both our dishes. He had a pollo guisao, and I had sancocho (very orange). They tasted the same and were too watery. My alcapurria was bland, too. Bummer!
SAVE CASA ADELE? Who will save you when you eat here? I dont write reviews and this is my first but I wanted people to stop writing reviews that makes this place sound like it is the it factor. It definitely was not maybe before but today was not that day. Wanted to have dinner thought it was a good idea to try Puerto Rican cuisine since I'm PR what a disappointment. Restaurant needed some work. We were served small plastic cups with our water that you buy at the 99 cent store. Hmm hello whats the deal? You can visibly see that the inside of the restaurant needed some cleaning as we had a few nats flying around. Honestly didn't give me the home PR vibe like people on here keep telling you. What part of PR did you grown up in cause San Juan doesn't look like that. Also service was slow took 30 minutes just to get a Cubano. Come on if the pernil is done all you needed to do was a blancha(Toasting). So waited for a cubano that was smaller than a hero bread. I dont think my husband left full and enjoy his sandwich as so many claim. Then gave part of my food to another customer all the while the manager saw the mistake and did not fix the problem so I ate my 1/2 chicken cold and alone. Had them deducted the maduro. The pasteles con carne and alcapurrias were cold, hard and small. I would say it was a waste of a date night and I'm still hungry. Not a spot for a Saturday night. A few pointers - 1. paint the inside of the restaurant if you want to hide the dirt or the wear and tear inside the restaurant. 2. Buy a dishwashing machine if you don't have money for a dishwasher. Get a clue no plastic 99 cent cups. 3. Get better waiters because the older ladies unfortunately are slow and your losing money from not cleaning and serving the tables fast enough. 4. If your going ro represent PR then do it right wear our colors proud instead of letting people see this nonsense and think it's okay cause it's not.
Was in the area meeting up with my coworker, saw this REALLY small hole in the wall spot and wanted to support local boricua. The woman that helped me initially was very friendly but her shift ended I guess and a man took over. He was very rude, ignored me while I was on line to order. I sat down and needed time to think about my order while I waited for my guest to arrive but I was threatened if I didn’t order I couldn’t sit at 1 of (4) EMPTY available tables. I’m going to be honest, support if you want, I will never return based off service alone. Food is average, but service is shot. I felt so uncomfortable after the interaction I just took my food to go and was told they don’t bag your Togo orders for you. So I had to do it myself…I see why this place needs saving, if staff views work as play time
