My wife and I have been in Barcelona for the past 4 days. On our second day here we passed BRUNELLS and saw a sign in the window stating that they won an award in 2020 for the best butter croissant in Spain. As lovers of croissants we had to try Brunells’ butter croissants. After eating one butter croissant and one crema croissant (1/2 each) we both agreed that Brunells’ was the best we’ve ever had. We have come back each day to have another tasting and found their wonderful croissants consistently great. Best ever anywhere. This includes croissants which we have had in approximately 70 different countries, including France. So when you visit Barcelona be sure to stop in and try their croissants for yourself. You will not be disappointed. P. S. They make a great cappuccino also. Enjoy

This weekend, we treated ourselves to a delectable assortment of croissants from Brunells, and the experience was nothing short of heavenly! From their Lemon Pie croissant to their cheesecake, chocolate, almond, and regular varieties, each one was a delightful culinary adventure. Despite the fantastic flavors, the simple, regular croissant stole the show with its exceptional light, flaky crust, and moist, fluffy interior. It's no wonder they have been awarded "best croissant in Barcelona" for multiple years. Do yourself a favor and indulge in some croissants from Brunells – you won't regret it!

Hands down best croissant we had in Barcelona - fluffy crunchy airy and not butter heavy. There were layers of texture to it, very well made and arguably one of the best croissants I have had. My wife thinks they also serve the best latte we had in Barcelona; Brunells uses Magnifico beans which we also visited, I think it was just the blend that my wife prefers more. The smashed croissant with Iberico was very interesting as well. The cafe is very busy so it is not the best place to past time or have a comfortable conversation with friends, but definitely worth a stop by if you like croissant, they didn’t claim themselves as best in Barcelona for no reason.

Sin duda, el mejor croissant de Barcelona. He probado el de crema, pistacho, tiramisú y nata con fresas, y mi favorito es definitivamente el de tiramisú. El local es pequeño, así que los fines de semana suele haber cola, aunque siempre puedes pedir para llevar. Lo único es que el precio me parece un poco elevado, ya que cada croissant ronda los 5 €, y aunque están deliciosos, sí es un precio alto para lo que es. Aun así, de vez en cuando merece darse el gustito.

El Croissant de chocolate, está rico. Contrasta el sabor amargo que tiene por fuera, con el chocolate con leche(dulce), que tiene por dentro. No es muy empalagoso. Calidad, precio más o menos bien.

Very photogenic croissant. We tasted tiramisu cream. Next time I want to try a simple croissant, without cream or ham. Croissant itself was very tasty so dont need to add extra taste.

I got the Pistachio cream croissant and a jamon sandwich. The pistachio cream croissant could’ve been a little flakier and lighter but it was still good. Also they had the perfect amount of pistachio cream in the croissant. Also, the pistachio cream isn’t too sweet. The jamon sandwich was pretty good. It was flavorful. However, the bread was a bit dry. Overall this place was very nice and lovely.

They won the Spanish bestza croissant in 2020. In the tourist area. There will be many tourists. There are separate doors for dine-in and take-out. My favorite cream strawberry croissant. But I was told that there was no croissant in the last few times I went. The waiter will hope that you will leave early after eating. If you come to Barcelona, you can try it.

We bought three different pieces to try them, all of them croissants and they were very nice, I’m not sure if “the best”, but certainly very good. Three times the price of what they are in France 😅 or other places in Spain for that matter. It was very nice to know they have a cafe area where you can sit for a while.

Desde fuera destacan los “premios” y el reclamo del mejor croissant, pero la experiencia real no está a la altura. Los productos son normales, el servicio distante, se paga en caja y te dan un número, y el espacio resulta incómodo, con mesas muy juntas. Fui solo por curiosidad y para poder opinar (sobre las 18:30), gasté unos 8–9 €, y no salí ni satisfecha ni contenta: caro para lo que ofrecen y totalmente prescindible. Es la primera vez que pongo una reseña negativa, pero considero que por un precio tan alto se debería ofrecer un servicio y una calidad premium. Entiendo que este tipo de productos suelen estar más tiernos por la mañana, pero por el precio que tienen y con los premios que exhiben, deberían mantener esa calidad durante todo el día.

Sobrevalorado. Me gasté 8,80 en un croissant de pistacho y un café con leche. Me pareció carísimo. Muy mono y céntrico pero no me pareció “el mejor croissant del año” y que valga 5,50 me decepcionó.

Servicio correcto, nada que objetar. Croissant bueno, crujiente y con ese leve sabor de mantequilla, pero los he probado mejores. Café malo, amargo y muy escaso. Me pedí un cortado y apenas da para un sorbo. Precio elevado, 4,95€ no está justificado. En resumen, la relación calidad-precio no es la adecuada.

Solia venir casi cada fin de semana despues de covid, años 2021 - 2024 hasta que dejéde ir. El producto ha cambiado o al menos lo recordaba mejor. Hoy he vuelto y no ha mejorado. Tanto el croisant de mantequilla como el de pistacho han emperado, textura y sabor. Los precios no se justifican. Tampoco hemos visto a ninguna cara familiar, una persona pena.

Great Pistachio Croissant, just an OK regular Pain au Chocolat. Cute seating area in the back but the place lives of its name. Had better croissants and service in other places. Pistachio croissant 5,50 Euro if consumed onsite. Definitely a problem is upkeep and cleaning. Tables were not cleaned up for a while, milk pitchers with dried milk foam. A bit more professionalism for a cafe would be good.

Hay que ver cómo cambian las cosas para algunos... Cuando uno recuerda este sitio, lo primero que le viene a la cabeza es que era una pastelería y lugar emblemático que podías encontrar en un paseo entre el Born y el Centro de la ciudad. Y ay, amigo, es en ese tiempo verbal pasado donde se dejaron una buena parte de lo que fue este negocio. Pero vamos al tiempo presente: El primer reclamo que recibe el visitante son sus distinciones por los premios al mejor croissant y claro, ante una propuesta así, la de encontrar el mejor croissant que un dia ganó un premio, lo lógico es entrar. Y cuando uno entra, las decepciones y sequedades, al igual que los premios, van llegando de una en una. Y es que ir a tomar algo a Brunells no tiene nada de especial. Es el lugar adocenado y pseudochic del tipo de locales que campa a sus anchas a lo largo y ancho de estas latitudes de la ciudad. Un servicio de lo menos simpático de esta zona (que ya es decir), dando número o tanda, porque claro, eso sí, en el local no les cabe un alma. Y cuando por fin tienen la gracia versallesca de concederte una mesa, es un lugar incómodo hasta decir basta que te deja colocado prácticamente codo con codo con la mesa de al lado. Por si esto fuera poco, el diseño de la mesa, con una barra incomodísima entre la mesa y el banco, hace que te sientes en modo autobús interurbano, intentando colocar las piernas juntitas, porque no has espacio para nada más. Tengo entendido que los ingenieros de las cápsulas Soyuz de la extinta URSS gozaron de unas medidas más holgadas para poner a sus tres tripulantes en órbita. Pero visitante, esto es solo el principio, porque a estos momentos aun no habia llegado la ambrosía de la casa, el summum de sus creaciones, merecedora de premios y otros parabienes: sus croissants. Pobres. Alguien les tendrá que decir que ahora mismo, como los suyos hay unas cuantas decenas de sitios que los saben hacer igual, o incluso mejor y -eso si- casi con toda seguridad, más baratos que aquí. Porque si bien sus espacios, y el trato de su personal tienen muchísimas estrecheces, en Brunells apuestan a lo grande y se creen que es lógico cobrar lo que cobran por sus productos. Especial mención merece el croissant de chocolate con una vergonzante desproporción entre el relleno y la pasta de hojaldre. (miren la foto que adjunto y me discuten luego si tengo razón o no). En fin, llegados a este punto, podemos afirmar sin lugar a dudas, que Brunells se ha erigido como uno de los muchos templos -uno más en Barcelona- donde el "gato por liebre" siempre triunfa e impera. Qué lástima que no hayan sabido traducir al inglés, lengua dominante en casi todos sus carteles y comunicaciones interiores algo así como "One of the most scandalous cat for rabbit in Barcelona".

Buenos postres pero bastante caros para lo que son. Además, el servicio es terrible. Pedimos tres cafés y dos croissants y nos entregaron todo en destiempo. El personal trabaja de forma poco amable y para nada servicial. No recomiendo ir pero si en verdad quieren probar algo, pídanlo para llevar.

Two years ago was a better experience. In all sincerity I had this time the cake at 2 pm. Maybe it was too late… one can never know. The cakes are average. Unfortunately, the expectation were very high. The place looks a bit run down. I was looking forward to come back but a tad disappointed. UPDATE: We had as well an almond cake. It was quite unsatisfactory. To be sure that is not I, next day got the same type of cake from a local no-nonsense bakery. The later was more elaborate and better tasting, hands down. Quite unnerving given the difference in perceived standards.

Traje a unos amigos para comer croissants, ya que antes me gustaban croissants antes, pero sinceramente la visita dejó una mala impresión. La chica que tomó el pedido parecía muy cansada o poco amable, la atención no fue agradable. El café estaba muy sucio, uno de los platos estaba astillado y además se olvidaron de traer uno de los cafés y café estaba como quemada un poco Los croissants estaban secos, no parecían frescos, duros y fríos de la nevera y la crema estaba reseca. La calidad ha bajado muchísimo. Lamentablemente, no lo recomiendo.

La precariedad del desayuno: 17€ un croissant, una palmera y dos cafés. En un espacio muy reducido que prácticamente comes pegado a otra persona, no sé qué sucede en estos sitios que se masifican y los precios por las nueves, pero la comodidad y el confort no están reflejados con esos altos precio. No sé porque motivo, han dejado de hacer chocolate a la taza, que tan bien acompañaba el croissant de mantequilla. El otro día fuimos y ahora hacen una especie de chocolate líquido.... Vaya sorpresa negativa. No es para nada lo que nos gusta a la clientela de aquí. Deberían pensarselo!!! Nosotros no volveremos

I used to love their pistachio croissant. However, they have changed their fillings. They reduced the amount of pistachio in their cream. I can taste and see the difference. Their pistachio croissant just tastes like a cream, no specific taste, but definitely not the pistachio croissant it was before. See the difference in the photos of how they used to be and are right now (Second picture is from their own social media account). Hope you can make them like before, because that was better. I think the price also used to be higher, so please don't reduce quality for a lower price. They do have good plain croissants and a very lovely employee that manages the tables. She's always got a smile on her face, I don't know her name but she is from Latin America.
