I can't recommend this place highly enough and I've been a regular visitor for over 15 years. Honest, home made Catalan/Spanish food with options for everyone including kids and veggies/vegans all at a price that won't break the bank. The fried seafood and paella are fantastic, as are the grilled meats. Service is fast and friendly, the atmosphere inside is informal and relaxed. They have a terrace with food service outside but you need to get there early as they get snapped up quick.

Nou Candanchú is a tapas bar located in one of the many back street squares that you come across in Barcelona. The squares tend to be vibrant with a relaxed vibe and are like little oasis scattered throughout the urban grid. The food here is very good. Traditional tapas. The chorizo is amazing. What sets this place apart … the staff are brilliant. Friendly and attentive staff, the bill was correct and the service efficient. A very Spanish vibe here and in this part of town. Recommend this place for sure.

Very busy restaurant bit we were treated to a table and drinks immediately by a wonderful little senior lady. Food was amazing.

La comida en general está bien, hemos podido tener varias tapas que tenían buen sabor. Fue agradable el estar ahí un par de horas y beber algunas cañas. Con el servicio de la chica no nos ha ido tan bien, ha sido un poco grosera. Los precios están a la medida.

Soy cliente habitual de este local (vengo varias veces por semana) y nunca había vivido una situación así. Éramos 3 personas con una cuenta de 60 € y se negaron a dividirla. Aun así, lo peor fue el trato del camarero Rafael, totalmente despectivo y prepotente. Su respuesta fue “aquí es así” y que si no nos gustaba, que no volviéramos. Cuando le dije que nunca me habían tratado de esta manera, contestó que le daba igual, que con él es así. Inaceptable para cualquier cliente, y más para uno habitual. Una verdadera lástima que una actitud así empañe el local.

Waiting time for a table about 15 mins, but plenty of places at the bar for waiting. Nice waiter giving us a table and good service throughout. And the food was delicious. Free olives while waiting for the paella, since a good paella needs like 20 mins to get cooked. They were good, the paella was good, and prices were good. Great experience in an area not so tourist packed!

Very accommodating and helpful, there was a large group of us (10) which is never easy to serve all at the same time, but the service was quick both in drinks and food. Plenty of dishes to choose from, all at reasonable prices. Our favourites were the grilled meat and the fish from the continual array of tapas being served. A lively little place for a get together, good atmosphere and cheerful staff. Decent little bar area too while you are waiting.

Got seated quickly and the server was extremely friendly even though our Spanish was lacking. Yummy octopus, paella and patas bravas.

Fuimos un domingo a la tarde y tristemente, como en la gran mayoría de bares del centro de Gràcia, “si no es para comer, nada”. Uno de los camareros, muy majo. El otro, no tanto… La comida estaba rica, correcta. Pero el precio era bastante elevado. Pero bueno, tampoco ninguna sorpresa para esta zona.

Hemos ido muchas veces, la comida rica, sin pretensiones y el servicio siempre correcto hasta ayer. Destacar positivamente a la chica rubia de la barra y a un camarero joven y alto, sin embargo, una camarera rubia de más edad fue insufrible, andaba como pollo sin cabeza y fue maleducada y ruda con todos en la mesa, es más creemos que nos dijo que los postres que queríamos no los tenía cuando no sí que quedaban y el helado lo trajo sin galletas cuando vimos que a otros clientes se les sirvió así a posteriori.

Fuimos un jueves a la hora de cenar y pedimos tapas para compartir. La comida bien: especialmente los soldaditos de pollo y las croquetas, sin embargo, las patatas bravas están por debajo de la media y las bombas son unas bolas de pure con un suspiro de carne, nada recomendables (por eso doy 3 estrellas). La puntuación global de 2 estrellas se debe a la pésima atención del camarero (jueves 6 de noviembre, desde las 19:00, un señor de gafas, alto, con canas): prepotente y con ganas de discutir. Yo y más gente de la mesa lo comentamos luego, pero estuvimos a punto de tener que pararle y explicarle que así no se le habla a un cliente. Sería un mal día para el camarero y supongo que tuvimos mala suerte como clientes, pero no volveré. Hay más sitios con mejor comida, a mejor precio y, mas imporante, muchísimo mejor atendidos. Ah, y ahora me fijo que EL TICKET COBRADO EL 6 DE NOVIEMBRE TIENE FECHA DEL 16 DE AGOSTO.

Un sitio sin más en la Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia. Vinimos aquí porque fue el primer sitio donde encontramos una mesa libre (viernes mediodía en Festes de Gràcia) y el servicio dejó mucho que desear: muy malas maneras a la hora de atendernos…cuando nos atendían, porque fueron bastante lentos. Además, los platos de la carta eran insultantemente caros. Espero y deseo que esto sea así por ser la semana de fiestas, pero pagar 10,50 € por un pincho de tortilla y una cerveza y 7,50 € por un tinto con limón me parece un insulto a la gente local.

Me senté en esta terraza pensando que era el bar de al lado. No me di cuenta del error al principio. Fue después, cuando me trajeron el café, que algo no encajó: la persona que lo sirvió no era la misma que me había atendido al llegar. Observé de dónde venía y, al verla entrar en otro local distinto, miré la carta con calma y entendí entonces que me había equivocado de lugar. Aun así, ya estaba sentado y decidí quedarme a desayunar. Eran sobre las 9:30. El saludo inicial había sido frío, sin ganas, sin humanidad, y eso ya había marcado el tono. No busco alfombra roja ni sonrisas forzadas, tampoco trato empalagoso. Busco algo básico: presencia y un mínimo de calidez. El servicio fue descoordinado: el café llegó primero, con el platillo mojado por haberse derramado, y después el mini bocadillo, realmente pequeño, del tamaño de la mano. El desayuno (café + bocadillo) costó 6 €. El bocadillo era sencillo: atún, rúcula y pan con tomate. Correcto sin más, nada especial ni cuidado como para justificar el precio dentro de una experiencia tan poco trabajada. Uno va a un bar a desconectar, a disfrutar y a tener una buena experiencia, no a cargar con la desgana o el desánimo de quien atiende. Cuando alguien parece no tener ganas de trabajar ni de atender, eso se transmite y quita las ganas de volver. No adjunto fotos para que cada cual lo vea con sus propios ojos. En mi caso, tomo nota y no volveré.

Ordered a paella for 3 people and it was the worst paella I have ever had. When we made some remarks they said it should be like that. The crayfish was not fresh, the clamps tasted really bad and my kids that’s eats a lot of mussles couldn’t eat them. The restaurant didn’t give any discount and it was just a very expensive experience and we had to go and get food for the kids somewhere else. Do not eat here!

Used to be good. Went back today and it was a s-show. Inedible food. Had the fish of the day that was too strong and salty, even the table next to me returned theirs with a comment in Catalan that said “inedible”. Also ordered the churrasco de ternera which was tough and no taste. Flies everywhere too. As for tapas we had the salpicon de mariscos which was 90% onion and green peppers, just three small pieces of octopus and ONE shrimp. The ham croquettes were tasteless. Overall, bad, very bad. Last year I came here and it was way better. Decadent place. And service is just bare minimum. Skip it. Only extra star goes for the french fries. Also, very expensive for what it was. Almost looks like a tourist trap although it is not supposed to be. Sad.

When the table was available service person put there other people saying that it is reservation list. Why he do not say anything when we were waiting so long?! Why he not propose any alternative? La atención de los dos camareros de la terraza es una vergüenza. No solo nos trataron mal en reiteradas oportunidades, sino que además comimos en 2 horas un menú de medio día. Para colmo, el final, el postre, parecía de risa. Fotos de los dos mini bocados de queso y membrillo, y la porción de MEL y mato, dos cucharadas. Y encima el precio! El menú más caro de Gracia.

El mesero de cabello corto tiene toda la terraza vacía nos sentamos nos pasa al lado 4 veces incapaz de tomar una orden se sienta a fumar unas chicas piden la cuenta les cobra y nos vuelve a pasar por el lado ignorándonos. Tantas personas buscando empleo y con buena atención al cliente y eficientes y deciden tener al mesero más incapaz de todos

Me gustaría que el mozo me explique su concepto de cena. Fuimos el sábado, éramos 5 personas. Nos preguntaron si era para cenar y le dijimos que sí. Luego vino a la mesa le dijimos qué queríamos alrededor de 15 tapas. El mozo nos trató super mal diciendo q eso no era cena. Que había gente q quería cenar. Nos tiraba los platos en la mesa. Ho rri ble. Nunca más. Gastamos mucho más dinero que si hubiéramos pedido paella que eso si era un plato de “cena” según él. Pe: la mesa de al lado, reservada para “cenar” solo pidió tapas y las cosas de pescado q pidieron las devolvieron Porq estaban mal.

No recomiendo nada este restaurante, muy grosero el dueño. En cuanto nos sentamos con mi amiga empezó a gritar: ¡para comer! Luego en intento de ingles: no eat no sit!! No es la forma de hablar a nadie! No nos dejo ni explicar.. que SI IBAMOS A COMER ALGO….

Este Bar-Restaurante ya no es lo que era. Hacia años que no iba y no creo que vuelva. Como dicen otras personas, los camareros son desagradables, algun problema laboral deben tener porque es general. Solo se salva una chica que salió de la cocina a traer algo y otra mujer que había por allí. Ellos, son una pasada. La comida está buena, pero es caro, algunas cosas muy caras, como por ejemplo, una jarra de cerveza rubia nacional 7,70 € , ni que fuese una Guinness en un Irlandés. No tiene sentido que una copa valga 3,15 € y una jarra más del doble. Además hacen algo que es ilegal que es poner los precios sin IVA en la carta.

Ayer 16/2/26 sobre las 15:00, nos encontramos con el camarero más prepotente, agresivo y maleducado de nuestras vidas. Nos quedaba más de la mitad de la comida y ya nos estaba sacando el plato para irnos , a la vez que nos ofrecía los postres. Le pedimos los postres y al rato vuelve preguntando de nuevo sobre cuando los íbamos a pedir. Le dije que ya los habíamos pedido y que desde entonces los estábamos esperando. No solo, nos respondió mal y negándonos que era así, sino que además nos dijo que ‘dábamos asco’ y amenazó violentamente con encontrarnos por la calle. Lo peor de todo, llevábamos viniendo aquí como 15 años y sabemos que este ‘camarero’ es el hijo del jefe. LAMENTABLE ACTITUD! Directo a la OCU para denunciar.

Worst experience in barcelona, everything was in spanish and we asked very kindly if they had chicken as we were intending to sit but the rude guy behind the counter told us to leave if we don't speak Spanish!!! Unacceptable behaviour , I understand that they are overwhelmed with tourism but behaving like that for no reason is just inacceptable especially we we had done nothing wrong ,kindness costs nothing.

Good food but very rude staff. I had just paid for my meal and was finishing off my drink when I saw two people waiting for a table so I invited them to my table as I was leaving. The waitress immediately comes over which was impressive as the service had been very slow while I was there and tells them they can’t join me at the same table, shooing them away. I guess they don’t want business

I never had such a rude waiter. Saturday morning, people just want to have a relaxed morning, the weather is nice so I decided to sit outside at the beautiful plaza, and just have a drink or a breakfast. I waited about 10 minutes or more and nobody came to ask me what I would like, the place wasn’t full , just a few tables, so I made eye contact with the sloppy waiter, he ignored me, so when he came next I asked him if I can get the menu, he ignored me rudely and said I am busy which he was not, he just seemed like he doesn’t want to be there and work. So when he finally came, he talked without any manners very rudely and just said Say !!! Diga loudly !!! So I just decided this is enough, got up and moved to the place just next to it! And finally am enjoying my morning . So if you don’t want to start your morning with a bad attitude from a bitter uneducated sloppy waiter just avoid this place.

Bad situation. We arrived, today, June 1st 2025, Sunday at around 18:20. We looked for a table on the terrace but only one is free, although there is a bunch of tables piled up with chairs in the corner of the terrace. As we are about to ask if we can take the table, someone take it just in front of us, without considering us. We asked the waiter for a table outside, he just reply to us, no, go inside! We turn around to look elsewhere, then notice someone leaving a table, so we ask again if we can take the table, but he said no, telling us that this is table is reserved, and at the same time he put a card "Reserved" on that table. He was rude, not apologetic at all. Very bad service and we didn't even eat there! I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE WITH AN INSOLENT WAITER.
