Quiero agradecer el trato tan entrañable de este restaurante. Su simpatía, amabilidad, repidez, el haber estado todo el tiempo pendiente de lo que necesitábamos. Muy rico el pan con tumaca. Muy sabrosa la ensalada. La dorada en su punto justo y muy bien acompañada. Si vuelvo a pasar por aqui, me gustaria volver. Lo recomiendo

Fantástico lugar. La comida de 10. El arroz caldoso de bogavante está delicioso. Y el de mar y montaña lo mismo. Los postres insuperables. El personal es muy amable, te sientes como en casa. Relación calidad-precio ideal.

Truth be told… we travel to eat. We traveled to the Catalonia Emporda region of Spain to devour Catalonian Rice casserole (Paella) cooked slowly over a wood fire with local rice, seafood and meat. Tonight we found the perfect dish at Mr. Joan Frigola’s Can Joan. (House of Joan). Thank you Costa Brava Vibes for the recommendation.

Very good restaurant with a wide variety of local dishes. I would highly recommend the sausage with beans, beef cheek and snails. Service was very friendly:)You can a menu in French and English as well.

Typical Catalan hearty food with a flare. So many appealing dishes, it was hard to decide. A great problem to have. The amuse bouche was a sip of savory soup. Then came DIY pa amb tomaquet with all the correct ingredients. Bring an appetite because portions are generous. An excellent wine list with many local options, all reasonably priced. We had attentive and helpful service from a thoughtful team. Menus offered in Catalan, Spanish and English. Lots of fresh seafood available - take note of the daily list by the door. Can Joan is proud of their 0km items, some from their own garden. When we arrived at 1330 there were many tables enjoying food and conversation. It was loud! When we visit next, we'll plan to one later as it was far less noisy after 1430.

Our group leader from U3A Costa Brava arranged a menu del día for a group of us after a wine tasting nearby. The menu included everything from the introductory gazpacho along with pan con tomate, three excellent courses including water, beer, wine and coffee. A little more expensive than many other places, but excellent value considering the wealth of dishes and flavours available that were very well prepared and cooked. Excellent service from the host and a wonderful waitress. Highly recommended.

Menú muy bueno. Fuimos sin reserva el viernes y pudimos comer, pero tiene pinta de haber afluencia de bastante gente mejor llamar antes. Platos exquisitos, mucha variedad. Los canelones de la casa están tremendos. Recomendables. Los postres una pasada, mucha cantidad de comida y toda de calidad. Calidad precio supera los limites. Vale la pena pagar el menú Ofrecen varios menús, entre ellos de calçots y comidas a grupos. Si estas de vacaciones o visita por la zona debes venir.

Buena Comida casera catalana, materia prima buena. Raciones completas. Trato personal familiar. Salón interior grande y mucho ruido mejor terraza con muy buenas vistas. Calidad precio correctos Para repetir otra vez. Trato y comida de siempre sin "adornos".

Era un menú de una celebración y me quedé sorprendido de la calidad del producto servido. Un pequeño fallo, no recoger los platos vacíos de la mesa y tener un poco más de control en repartir y ver si falta algo.

A cosy restaurant with local vibes. Portions are big. Ordered the salmon, chicken with prawn, cod fish in casserole, pate and salad. We had to takeaway the salmon. Taste was ok. We liked the starter most - bread with tomato 🍅.

When hiking around Peratallada, we met others on the route , who recommended this restaurant and particularly the menú del día. It was in the next village but we didn't arrive until 15:10. We were welcomed and the m d día was still available - €17 including coffee, carafe of wine and bottle of water. The dishes were a cut above the norm, which in Spain is already good. 1. Young Broad beans with calamari and chorizo. 2. Grilled dorado with potato slices 3. Spanish baked cheese cake 4. Double espresso with hot milk on the side. We added a glass of Ratafia as a digestif. The carafe red was acceptable. Nice staff. Definitely would recommend here. We returned a second time and enjoyed it very much again, increased to 5 *s.

Really good place to have lunch or dinner, I was not expecting the amount of food they offer and also the quality of it. We have had a really good dinner with friends, all the plates were good and tasty. Steak is massive, salad amazing and tuna tartar to be improved. The service was kind and the owner is really funny. I really recommend to visit this place!

We had dinner last week at this very nice spot and everything went pretty good until the next day…we got the four of us food poisoning and spent the last day of our holidays at the toilet. It was a pretty hot day and we ate all fish, so we guessed something could have a bacteria or not being fresh. It’s a pity really, the taste of all was good, the service was decent and the view and the atmosphere was pleasant. But not sure if we could go back there because of the bad experience….

Fui a Can Joan el domingo pasado, es un sitio típico de la zona y Joan es muy majo. El restaurante estaba lleno y tuvimos que esperar bastante tanto para que nos tomasen nota como para los entrantes, que estaban correctos. De segundo pedimos rape, pero venía en mal estado. Entiendo que puede pasar y lo retiraron de la cuenta, aunque me sorprendió que no tuviesen algún pequeño gesto adicional. El trato fue amable en todo momento, simplemente tuve mala suerte ese día. Es una pena, pero no creo que vuelva.

Unfortunately, we have to give this restaurant 1.5 stars - not because of the food, but due to the poor service. Food: 3 stars (average) Service: 0 star Total Average: 1.5 stars We were given drinks and bread on arrival, but waited 50 minutes with no one taking our food order. We had to get up and ask at the counter. After that, it still took 20 more minutes for the food to arrive. To make matters worse, at the counter the owner almost overcharged us by 30 euros. He was talking on the phone while processing our bill which led to the mistake. Luckily, I noticed and questioned it before paying. Very disappointing overall.

As travelers coming from New York. We we were extremely dissatisfied with the food. We ordered Monkfish that’s was prepared terribly. As soon as the waiter came out with the monkfish a bunch of flies came out of nowhere as well. It was really hard to pull the meat from the monkfish. It shouldn’t be hard at all. If you’re pulling apart monkfish meat it’s supposed to be soft and flaky. A clear indication that the monkfish was undercooked. We expressed how we felt about the monkfish being undercooked and we sent it back to the kitchen. The owner/ manager came out of the restaurant to talk to us with such anger. He wanted to know what was wrong with the fish. He told us that he just caught it today. We expressed to him that it was undercooked and he was not happy with this response. For the rest of the evening he had an angered look on his face and he kept coming back to look at our table giving us a nasty look everytime. Also the bread that they gave us as an appetizer was burnt on one side. I don’t know if this is supposed to be an authentic Spain food experience. But the only thing that we experienced was raw fish and flies and burnt bread. The waiters/service and atmosphere was good no issues there.
