I had one of the best experiences last night at this restaurant. Amazing food and even better service. They put a lot of thought into their creations, and it shows. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. You won’t regret it.
In Houston for my daughter’s birthday weekend and had the pleasure to try Nobie’s. We ate on the patio and there’s was enough shade and slight breeze to keep us comfortable while we had a fabulous meal! I consider myself hard to impress and we were blown away. Every single dish was delicious. The Texas tartare was some of the best I’ve ever had. The service was beyond exceptional. A must try if you’re in the Houston area.
Nobies was awesome! Parking was street parking but early in the night it was no problem. Some of the dishes I didn’t get the pictures until after we dove in. The fingerling potatoes were wonderful, full of so much flavor. The popcorn was a fun side as well. The nonnos pasta was a great bolognese and the salad atop of the ham was amazing!!! The pie was a fun ending to the meal. We also got a couple of cocktails, all which were very good. Our server was very attentive and informative. On our way out, probably 5+ staff members thanked us for coming out. So hospitable!!
This was a delightful dining experience. Top tier food and service but in an environment that feels much more relaxed and chill. All the things we ate were fantastic but the stars were the dilly bread and smoked trout roe, and the duck confit pasta, and this seasonal pear cocktail I was also very impressed by their whisky list and its pricing. Some top tier bottles at very approachable prices
Don’t skip out on this restaurant! Inside it’s cozy and intimate. There is also some outside seating and bar seating. We came here for date night and got the dilly bread which was divine. I still think about that bread. Add the smoked trout roe its a delicious whipped butter. If you enjoy olives get the marinated olives as well. Their pasta in made in house, so get the nonos pasta too. Last we got the steak diana ross which I recommend. They also make amazing expresso martinis. This place is just amazing and the food and service are top tier.
One of my favorite restaurants! The meatballs are so yummy and the special (toast with tuna, crab, and white truffle, see pic) was one of the best things I've tasted. In a word: sumptuous. It is $69, but perfect for a special occasion. Also be sure to get a pie for dessert -- they are always a hit 😋 Only complaint is that sometimes the music can be louder or more aggressive than I would prefer.
Loved this place! The food was fresh and full of flavor, and everything came out just right. The vibe was warm and fun — great music, nice lighting, and a good energy all around. The service was spot-on too — friendly, fast, and made us feel really taken care of. Definitely one of those places you leave already planning your next visit.
We were hosting a family member in town. They requested a nice dinner and Nobie’s was the first place that came to mind! The vinyl records were a bonus for our music loving guest. We had great service and could take our time deciding what to order next. The chickpeas were great for snacking, loved the dilly bread to settle our appetites, we ordered the bolognese twice it was so good, and the pies are out of this world. Thursday night was easy to get a reservation for inside one week out. We recommend taking a Lyft as parking is extremely limited.
Nobie's is exactly the kind of place my wife and I have been looking for in Houston! I made a date night reservation here on a friend's recommendation. I was a little sad that the only reservations they had open around 7 were outside, but I went with it. Upon arrival, they offered us a table in the bar area and we gladly took it! Our waiter was attentive and gave us some great insight into the menu and had great recommendations. We decided on a couple of their cocktails and both were very tasty. We ordered the dilly bread and we both ordered different pasta dishes so our server recommended we have the dilly bread with the meal rather than an appetizer and I'm glad we did, because it complemented the dishes very well! They offer pies every night but they change every day, so we opted for the menu staple of the olive oil cake since this was our first (but certainly won't be the last) visit. Very light, most, and with a slight lemon flavor - very good way to cap off a delicious meal! The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic. We were sat right beneath a speaker so it was a little loud, but their website does provide a warning that they like it dark and loud. I will say that it wasn't loud enough to put a damper on the evening, though. Overall, 5 out of 5 and we'll certainly be back again!
This is a cozy place not big with a full experience in music and food. The menu changes often so just check every day and experience the new food and enjoy the music. The stuff is very nice and kind and the food is local and well done and presented. We really enjoy any plates from appetizers to the giant full chicken. They are all delicious and tasty. Strongly recommend to visit this place. The music sometimes can be loud but not enough to have a nice conversation.
The spotlight has to be on the unique dishes and flavors of this restaurant. My daughter and I shared everything so that we could try more menu items. We loved the artichoke but it's messy! The carrots were also delicious especially the peanut sesame crunch! For our main dish, we got the cabbage wrapped halibut. One of the best fish dishes I have ever had!!! Fight over who is going to be a designated driver because you can't skip their drink menu! The Dilly Bread is what drove us to try this restaurant, and it didn't disappoint! You don't even need the butter. If you had to choose which dessert to get, you have to go with the OLIVE OIL pound cake! I didn't think anyone could match my recipe, but they definitely did! Cost for 2 people and tip was around $250. We sat on the patio because we had a fairly large group. The speaker was loud, which was fine if it wasn't shorting out. It finally "fixed itself." I gave the service 4 stars because I felt they didn't care to address the issue, and was a bit snobbish towards our experience. Patio does have heaters, and seating is limited inside. Absolutely NO parking! Go early! I love all the restaurants in this area but parking is a major issue. The FEW spots they have in the back aren't even worth the try. Park in the street and walk, or UBER there ;) We will definitely go back very soon! UPDATE: We finally made it back, and Nobie's updated menu didn't disappoint! Chicken was fantastic will lasted us 3 more meals! Large parties, though have to sit outside so we'll wait until things cool off a bit before visiting again with such a group 😉👍
Absolutely loved this place! Came here for our anniversary and it outshined my expectations. Try the dilly bread with trout roe, just decadent. Then we ordered the tater tots with goat cheese and our minds were blown. Crazy combo of flavors that just works amazingly. We came during happy hour and the old fashioned was on point. Didn't skimp on the bourbon. To end the night, I had the olive oil cake and just a cloud of flavorful silky goodness. My wife had the double chocolate pie and needless to say she was absolutely happy. Brandy was our waitress and she was so sweet and informative. As a surprise, they brought us two flats of champagne for our anniversary. It's the little things that are a big deal for me. Thank you for making our anniversary a memorable one.
Unique flavors that offer a twist on American classics. I got a fish hash with the most perfectly poached egg on top with caviar in the sauce and a clam pasta dish with sun dried tomatoes. Both were yummy but my favorite was the pasta! The outdoor patio was very nice on beautiful day. Service is excellent and friendly. Great place to come for brunch with the girls or a celebration lunch!
Pretty small restaurant; dainty and cute! Service here is great. Everyone is kind and helpful, they are fun to talk to. Food here is pretty decent but the portion of each dishes are quite small. One dish probably won’t fill you, so you might have to share appetizer or order desserts after. On the bright side, desserts are AMAZING. The chocolate brownie pie was absolutely delicious and to die for. Parking here was difficult because we had to find street parking that was empty. We had to circle around few times. Still worth it!
Great experience throughout! Food is excellent, nicely presented, adorable patio, great drinks and wine selection! Super enthusiastic staff that radiates their love for food. Some of the most succulent, tender, and well seasoned pork I’ve ever eaten. I’m fighting the urge to place a new reservation just thinking about that big platter. It was glorious.
Excellent service and atmosphere but the food fell short of my expectations. All the dishes we tried were good, but very one dimensional. Plating was not very interesting or creative. Overall it was very conservative with nothing truly great or exciting that would really make me want to come back.
Nobie’s is highly rated and came recommended, and overall it was a good. We didn’t have a reservation but were still able to grab a seat indoors. The space is dimly lit, with music playing from a vinyl record player (loved that). As a New Yorker, it gave me Williamsburg hipster vibes, but still classy. The service was really good. Our server, JD (I think that was her name), was attentive, funny, warm, and kind. She was also super accommodating with some food restrictions, which I appreciated. The food was okay … no real complaints, it just didn’t completely do it for me. We had the “Don’t Worry, Bri Happy,” olives, and the “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner,” plus a few mixed drinks and some wine. The menu names were funny. I’d still recommend Nobie’s though. I can see the appeal, even if it wasn’t quite my personal favorite.
We only came for the desserts but had a decent time! We got the black bottom pie with the salted oreo crust on the bottom and then the olive oil cake. We really liked both and they were a good size. The lighting was just a bit too dark for our preference and the music was louder than expected, but overall a nice date night place.
Let’s review Nobie’s, as I recently had the privilege of dining there. I wasn’t quite sure about this restaurant that’s quietly hidden in a neighborhood. Their establishment appeared quite quaint and cozy, but the outside requires some attention. The grassy area surrounding the restaurant was not at all maintained and made it a difficult approach. I took a table outside as the night was cool. My server Lori was excellent and her knowledge of the menu was extraordinary!! I ordered a few things off the menu from her recommendation. The food was astonishingly delicious and more than I could’ve imagined! I also ordered their olive oil cake that everyone raves about…now I know the hype! Superb dessert! This restaurant comes with a high recommendation. The only thing I can suggest is maintaining better lawn care. I also want to let my readers know the parking situation is not ideal, as mostly everyone uses the streets. Happy Eating!
Nobie’s is a cute and cozy restaurant with a warm, welcoming vibe. The service was absolutely top-notch—our server was super attentive and even helped suggest some vegetarian options, which I really appreciated. While the vegetarian choices were limited, what I did try was quite good. The dill bread was soft, warm, and paired beautifully with their house-made spiced butter. I also tried the beer-battered sweet tots, which were delicious and came with goat cheese. The sauce wasn’t quite to my taste (I’m not a big goat cheese fan), but overall, it was a solid dish. For dessert, the olive oil cake slice stood out—it was soft with a lovely lemony flavor, though the crystallized sugar on top made it a bit too sweet for me. I also tried the chocolate chocolate pie with an Oreo crust and whipped cream, which was rich and decadent—again, just a bit sweeter than I prefer. Now for the downside: the board they served the dill bread on was filthy and clearly worn out. The butter was placed directly on this board, and that honestly ruined the experience for me. It was pretty off-putting, and I’m taking off two stars just for that. I really hope the restaurant takes cleanliness more seriously, especially when serving food directly on a surface. Overall, great vibes and amazing service, but they seriously need to improve on the presentation and cleanliness of their serveware.
I used to tell people all the time Nobies was the best restaurant in Houston, but every time I've come in the past 2 years its been a letdown. The food is still quite creative and the chefs are still crushing flavor wise! But the service has been so incredibly inhospitable. I'm not sure of her name, but everytime we come in for reverse happy hour we get the same server with a horrendous attitude. The first time we brushed it off, just assuming she was having a bad night, but its been consistent the last 3-4 visits. Maybe she's annoyed we're arriving late at night, but that is what the restaurant promotes for their HH so im not sure why she doesn't just negotiate to be on different shifts if she can't handle late tables without extreme snarkiness. The other main difference over the past couple years is the kitchen is much less accommodating for allergens and dietary restrictions. There have been plenty of times where there is an ingredient or component of the dish that could absolutely be left off but we've been told the chefs refuse to leave the ingredient out (think very simple things, like swapping a sauce for a different nut-free or dairy-free sauce or even going sauceless, leaving off a topping, pan searing in oil vs butter, etc). This shows the chef's care more about ego than guest experience which is the number one thing that keeps me from returning to a restaurant. I understand if something is already prepped, and I would never hold that against a restaurant in that case, but I have been straight up told the chef refuses to alter the dish in any way to accommodate a simple request. I used to be able to come here all the time and would recommend it to anyone and everyone, so I'm really sad that I can no longer do that. Friends have also had similar service experiences here after I recommended it to them in hopes that without their dietary restrictions they would at least receive friendly service. I hope management/ownership cracks down on the service + guest experience because Nobies has been such an incredible Houston staple and I'm a firm believer they could win a full Michelin star (instead of bib) if guests were of higher priority.
