We had a really great experience here. First off they don’t sell any beer, but said we could go to the market nearby and pick bring some in. I don’t really know much about Hunan food, but they helped me pick out some authentic dishes. I really like the spicy eggplant and the whole fish.
This was our first time at this restaurant, and we will definitely be back. Every dish I tried was delicious—I kept telling my wife, “This one is really good.” Honestly, every single dish was amazing.
My favorite Hunan Chinese food ever. Every time I come to Houston or drive through this is a much!! The steamed fish with tofu is so decedent you’ll fall in love. Spicy cumin lamb is also incredible. This time we tried the Godfathers noodles and it was good I’ll be adding that to my orders in the future. Flavors and spice will blow your mind!
The food was awesome ! We ordered House Special Diced Chicken with Chili Peppers and Steamed Sole Fillet with Tofu in Pickled Chili Sauce. We'll be back to try other food from the menu !
After work on Friday, my colleagues and I went to Hunan Bistro for dinner, craving grilled fish. This long-standing Hunan restaurant did not disappoint. We ordered: - Double Pepper Fish Head: Tender and flavorful, with noodles soaked in a delicious broth. - Spicy Grilled Fish: Well-marinated, served with cabbage, cauliflower, and seaweed. Not too spicy and very tasty. - Stir-Fried Lotus Root Balls and Black Fungus: Crunchy and refreshing, a perfect balance to the spicy dishes. - Mao’s Braised Pork: Tender and savory, with a perfect mix of fatty and lean meat. - Long Pickled Beans with Chicken Gizzards: Tangy and refreshing, a great dish to end the meal. We were fully satisfied, and the cost was under $30 per person. It was busy, so service was a bit slow, but overall a great experience.
One of my favorite restaurants in China town. If you like spicy food this is good place for you. Don’t expect good customer services. And they speak little English. Make sure you be patient when you wait for your food. Over all I love the food there and I go few times a month. Worth a try !
First time here, Food was so good! Will come back to try other entrees
Delicious spiciness! After my first visit, I’ve been coming here more often. At least once every couple weeks. The spicy clams, whole fish, eggplant are amazing . It is a bit on the saltier side but I just make sure to let the waitress know to ask the chef to add less salt. And..... I’m back and back again.... I’m hooked and love this place. The spice level is addictive ... never failed and always consistent
Bring the Heat, everything here has a pepper or jalapeño. Try The Godfather noodle, pork and peppers, beef tendon with spicy garlic sauce are all amazing. By the time we got to the gizzards and lotus roots we couldn’t feel our face and we’re rocking. It’s byob so you save some $$ on alcohol.
A lovely proper introduction to Hunan cuisine. As we are much more familiar with Szechuan cuisine, this was definitely an interesting experience for us. We found that the dishes we had here are much smoother and more flavoursome (combining a larger range of flavours - sweet, sour, spicy) than Szechuan cuisine (tending to be heavily hot and spicy). The service here was reasonably fast, considering the busy dinner hour at the time of our visit, the menu offers a wide variety of dishes to choose from, making it almost too difficult to decide, portions are large, restaurant is clean and cozy, and food is delicious. Although we enjoyed everything, my personal favourite was the pig trotter! 😊👍 A great dining option in this area for some spicy Chinese Cuisine.

Absolutely amazing Sichuan food at very fair prices. We get the cauliflower and pork as well as the beef with peppers and potatoes. Just great flavor and this is a frequent spot of ours whenever we go to Chinatown. Service can be a little bit slow but they make up for it with great dishes and flavor.
Tasty, flavorful dishes, and the waiter was very helpful at giving us recommendations. We ordered stir fried spicy beef, eggplants, and fillet fish. Will come back!

First and foremost, I stumbled into this place by accident, I was supposed to go to the Ramen place next door but man it was the best accident ever! Food was amazing, something completely out of my comfort zone but because I was so embarrassed to walk out I had the best food! Portions sizes are great, service is great, I think the only thing I would think would help the business would be menus to be with pictures so costumers can get a visual of what food they are ordering. I had a hard time visualizing what I wanted was I stated earlier it was a new experience and out of my comfort zone. Regardless loved it here. Will be coming back!
This restaurant has been here for quite some time now and it is better than I expected to be honest. Their dishes gives you a comfortable spicy kick which is the type of spiciness that doesn't make you bomb the toilet 10 times after the meal. Although their dishes are a little more towards the salty end, but overall their dishes do taste good. The reasons why I didn't give it a five-star is that the price is a bit high and the service is not that good. Three dishes cost me $53 and after tips each dish averages more than $20. Another thing is that although I do speak Chinese I still find out I have difficulty communicating with the waitress. I asked for ice water but she gave me water with no ice. I asked for napkins she didn't give it to me until the third time.
I use to stop in for the smoked pork fried rice as it was one of my favorite dishes. Through the years either the chef or recipe has changed. Went in today to give it a try and I wasn’t a fan. No smoked flavor and rice was barely fried. Guess it is time to try something new.
This is easily one of my favorite authentic Chinese restaurants here in Bellaire. I have a huge appetite for spicy Chinese food, especially the particular cuisines originating from the Southern Provinces, Sichuan and Hunan. Sichuan spice is mind-numbing, while Hunan Spice is fragrant spice. I strongly prefer the latter over the former. I've never had a bad experience dining in, I always like to order a full teapot of their Chrysanthemum tea, which has a nice red color to it. My top favorite dishes to order from here are: Spicy Beef Dry Pot, Chinese Bacon with Garlic Leek, Shredded Pork with Bean curd & leek and Sizzling Seafood Tofu. 这家店儿的口味非常地道。菜端上桌子香辣味儿就扑鼻而来。
It slowly became one of my favorite place to eat spicy Sichuan food. I usually go across the plaza to eat but most of my Chinese friend likes this place better because they can't handle the spicy from the other place. One of the dish I always order was chicken gizzard with sour veggie, it might sound weird but the gizzard is crispy and chewy the same time. Mix it with your rice eat like a don, super delish. All of their appetizer soup are great. The broth is light but brewed for a long time. My favorite is pork with corn since the corn makes the soup little bit sweet. I tried several of their intestine dish before, I like all of them, simply because the intestine need to be cleaned deeply and you can't cook it too long in order for it not to become too chewy. If it's your first time to go I would say order something regular and order some less spicy just to test it out. Overall it's a great place to go.
We ordered cauliflower, spicy crab and small size spicy fish head. I really like the cauliflower. So tasty. May not order crab next time. We will definitely go back to try other dishes. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Tasty foods at reasonable prices. Wish the menu shows how spicy it is. Also please turn down chatting volume among waitresses.
When I walked in, I knew the food would be authentic as I was the only non-Chinese customer in the restaurant. And, I was not disappointed! Nothing fancy about the interior decor, just great food and good service. The beef with broccoli, spicy beef stir fry and smoked pork noodles were all really good.

The spicy fish was delicious. In terms of heat it wasn’t very hot, but lots of flavor and every piece and ounce of sauce was very enjoyable.
This place did not pass the high standards of Houston Chinatown. And neither did it pass standards of good Hunan food. We had !spicy! fried chicken dices, !spicy! cabbage and double cooked pork. Nothing - NOTHING was even remotely spicy or rich in flavor as Human food should be. The server was also not helpful with consultation - we asked specifically if dishes are spicy. Would not recommend this place. There is literally the Human Bistro across the street which x-times better Also the place was almost empty on a Sat night - that should tell you already everything you need to know
