Everything was fresh and delicious! Apologies for not remembering our servers name, but she was top notch✨ We had brunch the Sunday after Christmas 2025
I must say the Po’boi was so good had me up in there dancing in my seat an to mention it’s a hot one so good fresh u can taste the fresh, love the service an enjoy the food Big oh Thumbs up to the chef he did his thang had my professor try some fried chicken breast an when I say it was good I’m talking about he eat all the chicken with nothing left on the plate the combo with chicken veggies an sweet potato.
Really had a great time at this restaurant as the vibe was really enjoyable. Parking can be tricky but you might be able to get a space right out front. We enjoyed the catfish, gumbo and fried chicken. The waiter informed us that both the catfish and crawfish are flown in daily from Louisiana. That’s how the food tastes like it’s from NOLA. Also loved the beignets for desserts.
Angeline's was a very tasty authentic southern meal and I was excited to have Abita root beer for the first time in a while. We got the BBQ shrimp, Mac & cheese, and etouffee as well as the bananas foster bread pudding. It was all really well made, and served hot. It was filling and definitely delivered the Southern comfort that Creole/Cajun food promises. The service was also really great and attentive.
This restaurant perfectly captures the vibe of NOLA - jazz music, weathered walls adorned with tiled crocodiles, trinkets, and trumpets. The service is super cheerful and quick. We ordered Angeline's Gumbo, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, and Beignets - each dish was rich, deep, and full of flavor, nearly perfect. We loved everything so much that we even ordered extra to take home. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Definitely one of my best NOLA experiences in the Bay Area!
Nice spot for Louisiana (creole) food! The shrimp tasted great and the fried chicken was awesome. The green beans looked like they were just steamed and not necessarily sautéed or anything but the sauce for my creole shrimp made up for it. Outdoor seating is nice and service was very friendly and attentive. A little pricey but I didn’t mind given how good the food was and the portions are generous.
Fantastic flavored food. Try their hush puppies and jambalaya with rich desserts. A popular restaurant that has both indoor and outdoor dining options. The indoor space is rustic and neat with phenomenal service. I was surprised by how authentic and delicious their dishes taste with an expansive menu! Their hush puppies were perfectly fried and moist with a delicate butter. The dishes we ordered all perfectly flavored, and they even have a few vegan options. I found their Mon Couchon Creme de Pot to be a little too decadent, but the mix of bacon, caramel, and whipped cream with the chocolate pudding was still enjoyable. They have plenty of Louisiana specialties, and I will definitely come back to try more.
Highly rated for a reason! The jambalaya was heavenly and I would come here again just for that. We got baked mac and cheese & the house salad as sides and they were both very delicious. We also ordered the buttermilk chicken. It was very tender, but I expected more flavor from it and the sauce. Kind servers and wonderful experience! I recommend getting a reservation.
Angeline’s is an awesome spot for southern Louisiana food. I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered to the fullest. I’ve never been to Louisiana, but from what the menu offers and what the waitress told us, this place seems 100% authentic. They even import beers from Louisiana to here, so you won’t be able to get their signature strawberry beer anywhere else. For the food, my fsforite was the fried catfish. It was more filling than I expected. The catfish was thicc and it came with a lot of hush puppies. I’m not much of a sweets person, but the beignets were incredible. It comes out piping hot fresh. Would recommend getting this to cap off your meal. When you walk around the restaurant, you will see a lot of art from Louisiana and articles about how great this restaurant is. They stay true to their southern cuisine and theme.
Lovely place! I love the furnishing, and the food was really good. The easier helped me out with my choice. He recommended the voodoo shrimps. However, since this was the first time I had Louisiana food, I went with something more traditional, the Jambalaya. I'll have to come back for the voodoo shrimp... Loved it, even though I couldn't finish it.
We popped in for lunch today, riding around the area and decided to try it out. I'm not usually a sandwich connoisseur but wanted to try something new. The French roll bread was soft and tasted good, although too bread for my liking. The catfish was seasoned very well, came out very hot, fresh out of the grease. I believe it had some spicy or Dijon mustard on it, which I loved. The side of combo was delicious and hot, I only noticed sausage, no other meats that I can make out. The service was great, the server was working hard and was attentive. Overall, it was a tasty lunch. I will likely return and try some other dishes in the future.
TLDR: Get the voodoo shrimp. WOW. Store interior is cute and service is absolutely fantastic! We got topped off on sweet tea all night. We got the sweet tea, hush puppies, voodoo shrimp, jambalaya, fried chicken and bread pudding. Sweet tea is great. Not too sweet and refreshing. Def squeeze the lemon. 8/10 Hush puppies were hot and fresh. Crispy outside and sweet soft inside. Wish we got a bit more butter on the side. Very delicious. 7/10. Voodoo shrimp is by far the best. Soft, sweet, buttery succulent shrimp with a smoky sauce on a bed of rice with a side of green beans. If I go again, I'd order 2 of these. So good. 10/10 Jambalaya was good. Got pieces of pulled apart ham hock and sausage in a nice tomato-y almost like fried rice with a bit more sauce. 7/10 Fried chicken is 4 pieces of boneless tenders over a creamy sauce with a side of green beans and sweet potato mash. The sauce and sides go well with the chicken. Chicken is juicy. Personally wish the chicken had more of a kick in spices since it's a Cajun. 7/10 Bread pudding is a square of banana bread in a caramel-y sauce. I was full, but it was probably my least favorite. 5/10 Total was $120 including tax and tip. The 3 of us were super stuffed. Would recommend.

Excellent choice of Cajun food. Service is pleasant and busy. It has a clean and Louisiana ambiance with soul music. It's a sit down restaurant and priced that way. Not a fast food or counter type.
The Crawfish étouffée, and Mac-n-cheese are both winners. Don't forget to have the "Swamp water" which is their spin on the Arnold Palmer. Extremely tasty!

I visited Angelina’s Louisiana Kitchen in Berkeley and overall had a solid experience, with some clear highlights and a few areas for improvement. The restaurant has a cozy, quiet vibe that works well for medium-sized groups or a casual date night. The Mardi Gras–inspired décor (greens and golds) is fun, though the space feels a bit dark, even during the daytime. Service was courteous but not especially fast; that said, my server Grant was clearly hustling and seemed to be covering a lot of ground on his own. Parking can be a challenge. There’s limited street parking with time restrictions. Your best option is to go straight to the parking structure about a block and a half away. It is conveniently located across the street from tbe Berkely Public Library. For food: The Cajun grilled shrimp appetizer was good but not memorable. The shrimp were done well, and the sauce didn’t initially stand out flavor-wise, though a second taste revealed a mild, sweet jerk-style profile with subtle heat. The bread, however, was excellent—crusty outside, warm and soft inside. The crawfish etouffee had good texture and balance, with enjoyable Cajun spice that added flavor without overwhelming heat. I thought the green onions would be too much, but they did not overpower the dish and provided great texture. I have a big appetite. The portions were satisfying, but not enough for me to take home for leftovers. Where this place truly shines is dessert. The chocolate cayenne cake was outstanding—moist, rich, slightly crunchy on the outside, with great chocolate flavor and a subtle kick of cayenne and orange. The bourbon vanilla whipped cream was light and delicately flavored. The beignets were perfect: warm, golden brown, chewy inside, and generously dusted with powdered sugar. Absolute must-haves! There were enough beignets to take home and they were still good cold. Overall, my experience started around a 3.5, but the desserts alone bumped it to about a 4.2 out of 5. I would absolutely come back—honestly, I’d return just for the desserts.
Very filling meal. Strong and present flavors. The interior is an ode to New Orleans and has artificats and paintings about New Orleans history which was dope. I still need to try their fried chicken and hush puppies but the Catfish Etouffee was delicious and had a thick gravy. The catfish was well made. My friend got the jambalaya. The rice was mixed in with the sauce and the chicken which was a bit different from other styles of jambalaya but was still super tasty.
Angeline's serves up some tasty Southern food. We haven't been to Angeline's in years, but I was glad to find out their food was still solid. Our party of three ordered fried catfish, Voo Doo Shrimp, traditional Gumbo, and an arugula salad. All dishes were good. The Gumbo and Fried Catfish with Hushpuppies stood out as my favorites. We finished off with an order of Beignets with caramel sauce and whipped cream on the side. I would pass on the caramel sauce next time. The service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is a little dated, but it was fine. Overall, it was a good experience.
I was originally gonna give this a three star review given that our arrival was met with disgust and “what do you want” from the lady who took our name down, and didn’t notify us when our table was ready. Our 20 minute wait ended up becoming an hour wait, because we never got notified that our table was ready… so knowing me, I was already ticked off as is. However, thanks to the assistant manager and the servers who constantly checked up on us, it saved the day and I had a pleasant experience here at Angeline’s. Angeline’s is definitely the taste of NOLA away from the actual lead by region — the decor inside represented how authentic the restaurant actually is. If “swamp water” doesn’t hit you in the face — you gotta try it out, it’s the Louisiana version of the modern Arnold Palmer, except not even watered down. My partner and I got the fried cheese grits for starters, which you already know was calling for southern paradise. The crust of the cheese grits were very flaky, and the crawfish etoufeé had just the right spice level and kick to it — rich in flavor. I had wished they had a little bit more portion, but what can go wrong with the exquisiteness of such a wonderful dish? The jambalaya and catfish were nothing short of amazing — all yummy food and special. I was honestly in love with their honey butter, especially when you put it on top of the hush puppies. Both are definitely a recommendation if you’re feeling really hungry and want something not too heavy to eat. I’d say overall the atmosphere was good — the locals and out of area people who do come in and have this ask us what our plates are, and I find that to be quite welcoming in many cases. I’d definitely come back again, as this is my fifth time coming… just the process of coming in could use some improvement.

maybe we caught them on a bad day? but every single dish we ordered was oversalted. particular callouts are the voodoo shrimp and the catfish to a lesser degree. i think they might brine their proteins before cooking but they might have been prepped for too long. besides that the flavors weren't as complex as we were hoping - the salt may have played a part in this as we could barely taste the cayenne/pepper/etc in comparison. i did generally like my fried catfish dish as the cornmeal breading and tartar sauce were good, and the hush puppies and butter was a nice treat as well. would skip the gumbo.
We ordered fried chicken, baked Mac and cheese, bbq ribs that came with potatoe salad, and red beans and rice. The fried chicken reminded me of frozen chicken tenders. They were not bone-in…
My understanding is, that anything that ist not fried in this establishment, is absolutely inedible for someone who eats well. Then again I may be wrong, because the Hush Puppies were fried and also really 'not good'. Brussel sprouts were burnt black, sweet potatoes mash was overcooked and fortified with too much sugar (it was already sweet), mushroom jambalaya was ok, yet bland, Cheese grits tasted horrible and looked very unappetizing. Unless you wanna have a beer and some fried food (in who knwos what), leave this place alone with its naive patrons. Service was excellent though, so my two stars are for the lovely, hard working persons there. Good luck y'all!

These people are negligent in the kitchen and uncaring to customers. I had a $180 DoorDash order 3/8 and almost died! It was my birthday dinner with friends at home . No one ordered seafood or fish because I am allergic. While I was eating the red beans and rice I pulled up a huge shrimp! I panicked and took meds immediately while my daughter called the restaurant to obtain more information. To keep it short… the manager asked if I accidentally ordered the Gumbo because they “look alike” LOL. I responded with “they do not”! On the receipt it clearly stated that I order red beans and rice. I asked for a full refund and was given a refund for the red beans and rice only! SAD…I was nauseous all night but no swelling. I will never eat here again and if you have allergies beware!
