Ordered carne asada special/super burrito. Order was ready fast even at lunch. It was delicious and well-proportioned. It’s not as big as burritos have been trending lately but the price was right and I was barely able to finish it. Can’t wait to go back!
This is THE SPOT for Mexican food as far as I’m concerned (north side location is also nice but quantity is lower)! I always love getting the very veggie burrito or the wet veggie burrito since they both taste so good! I’ve been going here a fair amount, and I’ve always loved it!
Me and my sister visited this this place today. Food was very good and the customer service was great. Will come back when in the area.
Best burrito in Berkeley hands down! I come way from Fairfield ca just for this place!
Simply the best! The staff and food are wonderful! 10/10
Open late on Sunday! Fast service. I had a veggie burrito. Substantial portion with chips, salsa bar with jalapenos available. This place is an excellent choice for late night Berkeley fare.
Best nacho supreme ever friendly service quick check out
I’ve lived abroad since ‘08, but I always make it a priority to make it back here every time I go home. The ground beef special burrito never fails me, and has tasted the same since I first started eating here in 2002. Just an amazing place.
Google is wrong on open hours. They DO NoT close at 8pm. They are open way past midnight! The employees are the nicest people and great choice of Spanish music! It is a simple, small place but do not let that fool you! The shredded chicken is juicy! I had in my enchilada, taco, and tamale! Salsa is perfect with all levels of heat!
Loved the food! Me and my friends went here for a trip and the atmosphere was nice and welcoming! The food had a lot of flavor and was delicious!
La Burrita has been my go to ever since starting college! Me and my friends love to go here after a long day to get a California burrito. The service is always great and the food is always really fresh. Though it is small in size and doesn't have much seating, it makes up for it with the tasty food. I highly recommend that you go to La Burrita– it's a Berkeley classic.
If you want a burrito, there's no reason to go anywhere else. You'll get the best one here. Not sure what the reviews complaining about being "treated like a white person" are about ... everyone at LB has always been incredibly nice and friendly. The southside location is the better of the two, in my opinion, but i understand I may be wading into treacherous waters there. The irony of a taco bell thriving next door to this place is not lost on me.
Very fresh, very flavorful. I ordered the wet burrito with chicken. It was served with crisp tortilla chips covered in cheese with fresh guacamole. Generous serving size. I was lucky to get a table inside during the lunch rush, so got to sit and enjoy my meal right away.
Small shop with limited sitting space, the best burrito in town. It's very close to UC Berkeley and always full of people. They are open till late at night. I have been going there for over 10 years and they are still one of the best Mexican food restaurants among others I tried. Good price and they give you freshly made chips.
California Burrito!!!! I haven’t tried anything else on the menu (although I should). I live in the east coast where burritos are common but when I visited Oakland for business I went to this spot as it was opened late. I asked the guy behind the counter “what’s popular here?” And he pointed to the California burrito. I didn’t have any rave expectations as I’ve tried other burritos in Oakland, which were good but no where near for me to write a raving review. I took it back to my hotel room with chips and a few of the sauces they provide at no additional cost as well as a horchata drink. Took this burrito out of the bag and let me say that this thing was huge! It was love at first bite. While working the next day the only thing I could think of was getting this burrito again. It was so good that for fear of me not eating the California burrito for a long while, I took 2 with me to put in my carry on to take home. The staff is friendly, the price is very fair and the place looks clean. It’s a small spot so seating is limited but should be fine to take home as they wrap it tight to keep the heat in. It shame they don’t exist near me or I would be on this place daily. Do yourself a favor If you haven’t tried this spot and order the California burrito first and foremost.
very good. customers need to be better though because many of you act atrocious. be kinder to the employees here
I love the California burritos here!
Pretty good burrito and the taco was fire. Definitely adding this restaurant to my list of go to places in the bay
Very tasty, nice place, cute stuff, I really recommend to eat
The wet burrito was excellent. Lots of care putting on sauce and cheese and then reheating the beast in the microwave. The contents were heavy on delicious shredded chicken and lighter on beans and rice as it should be. My friend was astonished. I finished the entire thing. The horchata was cold and not overly sweet, as is often the case at other restaurants. There is a small dining room with about six small tables and a well-varied salsa bar. Very nice people working the counter. Excellent prices.
Visit for nostalgia and it is double the price from 2010. No longer cash only, portion seems smaller than memory, but still delicious. Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Ground beef regular burrito (5) is a bit oily but so flavorful! Solid burrito (even if a bit runny) that is mostly just rice and beef. The chips are crunchy and fried well but don't forget to hit the salsa bar! Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go but the shop was popping Service: 5/5 - bro was super chill Value for price: 5/5 - while much pricier than before, it is still comparable to other shops and absolutely delicious
My father-in-law comes here almost everyday for a quick meal. Our family eats here often especially at night time. A great, friendly service with an affordable price. It is open late. I love that I can get 4 different delicious sauces.
Every thing we ordered was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The staff was friendly. The prices were fair and the portions were as well!! Thanks for a “from scratch” experience.
I started coming to La Burrita when I was a student in 2005. I love Mexican food, and theirs is so good. Ever since graduation, I still come back anytime I'm in Berkeley. I think I ate there 3 to 5 times a week. The chicken quesadillas and also the chicken enchilada combo (pictured) are all I order. The staff are always super nice. Food is still made fresh and fast, just like it was 20 years ago!!
La Burrita is a staple for UC Berkeley students. The burritos are tasty and at $8-11 affordable on a student budget. Additionally, the restaurant is open until 1.30am, perfect for late night study sessions. The staff is friendly and service is fast. There is limited seating.
We weren't planning on coming here, in fact we didn't even know this place existed. We had parked and were walking to the place we were going to have dinner. We saw this place and I was like mmm! Mexican food! When we got to where we were planing on going, there was no space so I suggested the Mexican place we walked past and that's how we ended up here. Small place, not much seating. The food was priced pretty average which was nice. We aren't from the areas I was worried about higher prices since its a bigger city. I ordered shredded chicken nachos with everything on it, a cheese quesadilla, and piña agua fresca. My husband got a lengua burrito, a cheese quesadilla, and piña agua fresca. With tip and tax, it came out to just over $50. The agua fresca was freshly made in house and you could tell because there was a lot of pulp. The nachos were delicious and so heavy with toppings that I had to use spare chips to start off with because I couldn't find them under the toppings. My only gripe is that they were cantina style chips so they kept breaking but they tasted good so there's that. Neither I nor my husband were able to eat our quesadillas since we were so full. We took them home. A lovely little place that I'm glad we found.

Cheese Steak Burrito 5 no rice or beans, grilled onions, sour cream, guacamole, cheesy, flavorful
One of my favorite restaurants close to campus. Great prices, and the quesabirria and burrito mojado are 🔥.
Had the best Bean & Cheese burrito! Simple should not be bland and these guys knocked it out of the park with their deliciously prepared beans and melted cheese in what seemed like a homemade tortilla. Perfection!

Decided to try this place after dropping off our grandson at UC Berkeley, and we weren't disappointed. The place is small, but not cramped with a view of the busy street to keep you entertained while eating. The food was actually better than good and we'll definitely be eating there again.
First time at La Burrita and the food was pretty good! I thought the prices were very reasonable for a family of four. The beans weren't the greatest but they were passable. I ordered the carne asada burrito and was pleasantly surprised. It was very tasty, flavorful and filling. I would definitely come here again. My only 2 complaints would be when we first walked in, no one greeted us for some time and the limited seating. We actually almost left. However, once the people who were waiting for their to-go food left, tables opened up. Once, the place slowed down the customer service got better.
I've been searching Berkeley for the best burrito, and this place was pretty good. I got the carne asada super burrito and the meat was cooked well but I felt like there was too much sour cream. I think they could improve the salsas but I appreciate that chips come with the burrito, I've noticed a lot of places don't do that anymore.
It was a good experience for us two . I'm from Truckee CA. So my boyfriend suggested to go try together la burrita . So I was excited to taste this food.. the shrimp burritos are the best in my opinion from the menu. Definitely come back again !
i’ve been here three times now and i would say that this place makes pretty good burritos. i like the carne asada special burrito but tbh the chips could be better (they don’t taste salted at all, quite bland). the horchata is pretty good, the workers are friendly, and the prices aren’t as bad as they could be. super convenient location, good vibe inside, and a fair amount of indoor seating. i came here for my 19th birthday dinner with my parents and really enjoyed it.
La burrita Is yummy!!!!! Located not far from Cal University. I ordered a super burrito shredded beef, the delicious beef and beans and rice inside had good flavor. Just look at the size of it on the picture it's huge. The atmosphere Is good, very busy inside and the service was good as well. I will say this, the restaurant is a little small and could get crowded easily but overall this is a perfect restaurant to eat. Give la burrita a try!!!
I like that they give you chips with your order. Plus they have a good salsa bar with a mix of mild to spicy salsas. The burrito we had was pretty good. I would come back to try something else.
With Cal students representing most of their clientele, La Burrita offers good value and a good tasting burrito(s) to match

La Burrita is quite an outstanding location. It is quite convenient on my way to class and to avoid eating at Cafe 3 or Crossroads. The pricing is reasonable, and you receive a good amount of food for what you're buying. The people there are very friendly and always willing to provide fantastic options. Overall, while the food and service is great, there isn't much seating indoors.
C'mon La Burrita, up your game!. We ordered steak burrito and chicken super nachos "for here". The steak in the burrito had so much tough cartilage that only a hungry freshman would have been able to chew through. Nachos "for here" came in clear plastic "to go" box. What happened to actual plates? Or am I thinking of north side La Burrita, which always managed to leave a better impression on me? :)
I got the taco salad with chicken, and it was as good as a taco salad can be, especially for the price of $12. The chips were put on the bottom of the salad which just made them soggy so that kinda sucked. But it was overall good, it’s a step above Chipotle.

Friendly people. Not enough settings. We had the burritos and they were ok. Not the best but not bad. I would compare it to a upscale taco bell.

We visited this place after reading it had the best Mexican in Berkeley. My first impression was it was a hole in the wall with old sports posters of cal teams on the walls and could use a good cleaning. I ordered a soda and a fish taco. The soda taste like it ran through moldy tubes which could have been because the machine looked like it was from the 80s. My taco taste like a dirty fish tank. I couldn’t eat it nor drink my beverage
This burrito was so bad that I had to leave a one-star review immediately. First of all, I asked for regular chicken and got shredded, which if anybody's had pulled pork knows how awful that is. And the burrito, for something that tasted so awful, cost 14 dollars. Been eating burritos my whole life but this ones making me question having one ever again. Yuck. There's no logical explanation why they're still in business other than the fact that they have one of the best locations for a fast food joint in Berkeley. Hard pass never going again.
I came here a couple of days ago, in the afternoon and the man who took my order was very rude and impatient. He made me feel highly uncomfortable, please have your staff retrained, Giving blank stares and making hand gestures for the customer to hurry up is not okay. I was polite to the man from beginning to end, saying please and thank you, and he would just stare. Very uncomfortable experience as a woman. Again when I left I told him thank you and smiled he said nothing. Just stared, very weird. I was with my friend and even he noted that the guy was weird. No recomiendo este lugar, no son nada amables. El hombre que tomó mi orden solo me miraba y no tenía nada de paciencia, me sentí incómoda todo el tiempo.
Wow how does this place have over 4 stars? My bf and I definitely got terrible food poisoning from this place - we’ve been throwing up all day after eating here last night. I think everyone giving it good ratings are just drunk college students who don’t know any better about what good Mexican food is. I mean they microwave their nachos in the plastic to go container - that’s so bad for you and gross!! And before you ask, no, we weren’t drunk and we’re not hung over. This is definitely food poisoning. We had a steak burrito and mango agua Fresca - I actually think it was the agua Fresca that did us in because our friends didn’t get sick but they only drank bottled water. 0/10 do not recommend.
Got a veggie burrito and thought it was pretty disappointing. The veggies were odd, only cauliflower, broccoli and carrots, with some beans. All of it felt undercooked too. The cheesy chips were really good though.
