It was my first time at Lawry’s Prime Rib. What started out as a celebration for our monthly dinner quickly changed to celebrating our waitress Stephanie’s 45th anniversary working there! She was simply amazing, and I could not believe how someone could stay committed to a company for that long. Well, that was until we met her backup, Lauren, who has been there for 47 years! We did not understand the value of this company until the manager, 'Simple Joe,' explained it to us. The food was amazing, without a doubt! The good vibes were equally amazing. I would highly recommend checking out this place.
Going to Lawry’s is like being transported back in time. The restaurant reminded me of 1930’s decor. Our servers Fiona and Noel were cordial, attentive and efficient. Our party of 4 each had a different cut of prime rib and all of the beef was cooked to perfection and very tender. The mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, creamed corn were all very tasty. Did you know this is where Lawrys seasoning salt came from
Lawry’s The Prime Rib, Beverly Hills Service & Hospitality From the moment you step into Lawry’s, the staff embodies the kind of polished hospitality that feels timeless. Attentive without being intrusive, they balance efficiency with warmth, ensuring every guest feels part of the restaurant’s storied tradition. The tableside carving remains a theatrical highlight, performed with precision and pride. History & Atmosphere Lawry’s is more than a restaurant — it’s a living piece of Beverly Hills history. The décor blends old-Hollywood elegance with classic steakhouse grandeur: dark woods, plush seating, and subtle art deco touches that transport you to another era. Dining here feels like participating in a ritual that has been perfected over decades. Cuisine • Aged Prime Rib: The star of the show, carved tableside, arrives with its signature richness. On this visit, the cut was slightly more cooked than requested — edging past medium-rare into medium. While still flavorful and tender, the nuance of the requested doneness was missed. • Mac & Cheese: Creamy, indulgent, and balanced with a sharp cheddar bite. A comforting side that pairs beautifully with the beef. • Desserts: Classic offerings like English trifle and chocolate soufflé showcase Lawry’s commitment to tradition, executed with finesse. Overall Impression Lawry’s remains a Beverly Hills institution where service, history, and ambience converge into a memorable dining experience. Even with the prime rib cooked a touch beyond the requested doneness, the quality of the beef and the surrounding excellence in service and atmosphere make the evening feel celebratory. It’s a place where tradition reigns, and every detail — from the carving cart to the final dessert — reminds you why Lawry’s endures as a landmark.
Historical plaque inscription: The original Lawry's restaurant was established in 1938 by Lawrence L. "Lawry" Frank and Walter Van de Kamp and was located in a modest one-story building at this site on "Restaurant Row". In 1947, Lawry's restaurant moved from its original location on the east side of La Cienega Boulevard across the street to a more modernistic style building designed by Wayne McAllister. In 1993, the business moved back across the street to a larger building designed by Gin D. Wong.
Very grand atmosphere! Elegant setting for upscale dining experience. We normally don't go that far to the West side since we live in East side of San Gabriel valley. But it's our first brunch for 2026, so we decided to make it special. And indeed it was all worth the drive. We ordered the prime rib hash and the prime rib sandwich. We also have the shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque. And of course the famous spinning bowl salad. Exquisite and tasty from the bread to the meals. My wife loves everything about the meal! Service was attentive and friendly. Tables are constantly being cleaned, emptied plates are immediately removed to keep your table nice and inviting. We also were treated to some live music and the singing was very good. Parking is valet only and I think the charges were like $12. It is a place to take your friends to show off what LA's got to offer.
Been here 4 -5 times. Best time to visit, I think, is during Christmas time when servers dress up and vibe is great and warm. Prime Rib dinner is what you want to get. It's the best. But Filet Mignon is always good and other options too. Great staff and some what performance is something to expect. Good wine list and full bar while waiting is also plus. Among all the other Lawry's, Beverly Hills Lawry's is the best.
I made a reservation over a week ago via the Open Table app, and check-in was easy and fast. The ambiance was cozy, and the live music at the time created a nice setting. We ordered the medium Tokyo and English cut prime rib, which came with a spinning salad, mashed potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding. The food was delicious, and the customer service was great. My total bill was about $170 with an 18% tip.
It's been a few years since my last visit. We arrived early, before our dinner reservation time, to relax a bit at the bar lounge with a drink. When our whole party arrived, we didn't wait long for our table to be ready. We started with drinks and appetizers. I opted for the Kentucky Whiskey Mule mocktail, which was refreshing, with a hint of whiskey flavor, ginger beer, and lime. Although a nice drink, I probably wouldn't get it again. I then ordered iced tea for the rest of my meal. For appetizers, my favorites would be the crab cake, steak tartar, shrimp cocktails, and caviar chips. I could order another round of the steak tartar and shrimp and be happy. Everyone also enjoyed the Shrimp, Corn & Jalapeño Fritters. For my main entrée, I've only gotten the prime rib here, and I wasn't about to break the streak. Although there are plenty of entrée choices, I went with the California Cut Prime Rib, and no extra sides. The prime rib was a perfect medium as I asked for. The mashed potatoes and gravy, and the au jus for the meat were flavorful. I added a little dash of Lawry's seasoned pepper to some pieces, which gave each bite a nice kick of flavor. The Yorkshire pudding is always good as well. I did get to try some of the creamed corn and creamed spinach, both of which are great sides to the prime rib. A couple of people in our party got the Double-cut Lamb Chops, which looked appealing, and they really enjoyed them. The plate comes with three lamb chops and is a generous portion. Our server, Clara O, and other staff members who helped were terrific throughout dinner. Patiently taking orders, serving drinks and orders, clearing used plates, and making sure our waters and we were good on drinks. The energy and kindness enhanced our experience. I also love the ambiance here, with the decor, art, dark wood, and a good amount of lighting for an upscale mood without being overly dark. The place also still has a nostalgic vibe. A few notes: - Valet parking only at the front entrance - Dress code is recommended to be business casual, but I've seen a range. Just be respectable and clean. - An excellent place for a celebration or treat yourself to upscale dining - A few good options for vegetarians and pescatarians (seafood) on the menu
"Located in beautiful Beverly Hills, Lawry's is a steakhouse of grand style, classic elegance, luxurious comfort and home of the world famous Lawry's Seasoned Salt." It is THE place to go for prime rib and you can expect your meats to be served table side from gleaming silver carts and they also put on quite a show with their spinning bowl. I recommend making a reservation as they are always popular and busy. Parking is valet only. On our recent visit, I attempted to book a holiday reservation a month in advance and all they had available was the last seating at 830 pm so of course I booked it. Start your meal with their absolutely amazing sourdough bread served with butter. It's so good that I dare you to only eat one slice! We always order their creamed corn, creamed spinach and French onion soup, but I've always found the latter two to be too salty. For my main, I always go with the Diamond Jim Brady Cut. I can never finish it, but prime rib leftovers taste almost as good the next day! It was disappointing that we didn't get to hear the strolling carolers during our meal, but I asked our server if they would be strolling by our seating area before our departure. They made an appearance and it was so worth it to witness their talent. I must say it's always a classy and enjoyable dining experience at Lawry's in Beverly Hills!
Although it was my first time dining at Lawry’s The Prime Rib, I had heard about its long-standing reputation many times, so my expectations were already high. We reserved one of their private rooms to host a birthday celebration for my brother, accommodating about 50 guests, and the setting was perfect for a large and special gathering. From the moment we arrived, the restaurant felt lively yet refined, and the staff were well prepared, attentive, and ready to assist with every detail throughout the event. Their professionalism and coordination made hosting a large group feel effortless. I don’t usually choose prime rib, but given that it is Lawry’s signature dish, I decided to try it, paired with their creamy spinach and mashed potatoes. It exceeded my expectations and was rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We also enjoyed classic Caesar salads and a variety of seafood appetizers, including shrimp and crab, which were fresh and well presented.
I promised I'd revise this after the meal. Everything was *WONDERFUL*. Starter sourdough? Yum. Salad in a spinning bowl on top of ice? Yum. Mashed potatoes & gravy? Yum *2. Creamed corn, yum*2. Creamed spinach, meh. Straight horseradish, yum. Brady cut prime rib, YUM*10. Lobster tail? More yum yum. Yorkshire pudding? Yum but a little late bc they were so busy. English trifle? Yum. Service once seated was attentive & kind even though they were clearly overworked. Tip extra on Thanksgiving, folks! ------------------------- 😡😡 Starting with 1* for being MORE THAN AN HOUR LATE even with reservations on Thanksgiving. Yes, it's busy, but one would expect a place like this to understand their staffing needs especially for limited-menu holiday specials. I expect I'll come back and update this after I have a tummy full of prime goodness. 🙂
My wife and I been wanting to visit this restaurant for a long time, we were in the area one day and decided to dine there. The servers are very friendly they were nice enough to keep us informed about the score because the Dodgers played that day. The food was excellent but we expected more from such fine restaurant. We were one of the first ones when the restaurant opened that day, when we left, the restaurant was packed, which gives you an idea of how people are eager to be there to taste the food that made that restaurant famous.
Decided on doing a belated birthday celebration, family dinner after a day out. We were at the LACMA and this is a short drive away. This is the iconic place for prime rib, it's not a true steakhouse in that regard. The entryway has a post of the menu from the 1950's when a steak plate was only $1.25!!! We were seated in the farthest corner away from the dinner crowd, but it was fine since we had a toddler with us. Table-side service for the spinning bowl salad and prime rib carving, as well as the creamed corn and spinach sides. Kids' menu includes the entree plus ice cream at the end. The child got well cooked spaghetti with meatballs. Food came out at decent intervals, we were told ahead of time that the steak tartare would take longer. But there was no unnecessary waiting. We each got a cocktail and I thought each had a bit of a heavy pour of alcohol but all were good. I got the Mrs. Hugo one: vodka, Prosecco, grapefruit, elderflower and muddles mint leaves. Complementary baked bread is delicious. Classic prime rib dinners start at 6 ounce to almost 32 ounces (usually for football players at the Rose Bowl games). We each got the middle sized Lawry Cut, medium rare, served with creamy mashed potatoes and au jus plus Yorkshire pudding for the table. I ended up with some leftover beef anyway. Trifle pudding with candle for the birthday celebrant and ice cream to end the meal. Valet parking was $12. Waiter was friendly without being too in your face. Toilets were clean and stocked with paper towels, full length mirrors in the ladies' room.
What can I say, it's Lawry's. The food was delicious and the drinks were amazing. Enjoyed being able to order an espresso martini before our table was ready. If you haven't been there, it's a must. You won't be disappointed. Great place for a girls night out, celebration, holidays, etc.
I came here for a solo dinner tonight for my birthday. Servers were very nice, but my busser Sergio was amazing! Best prime rive I’ve ever had, hands down. They brought me a little birthday cake in the house! Will absolutely be coming back, next time with friends! Thank you for a great experience!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant with family who were eager to try Lawry's for dinner. Even with reservations we still waited a while. We waited for a bit before being seated, the experience turned out to be quite delightful. The warm sourdough bread and delicious salad kicked off our meal on a high note. I opted for the Tokyo Cut and was pleased with the flavorful prime rib. However, I did have some feedback regarding the mashed potatoes was bit soft and Yorkshire Pudding was a bit salty I believe that providing this feedback will help enhance the overall dining experience for your patrons. Despite the minor issues, the exceptional service provided by your staff truly made our evening special. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for providing a memorable dining experience. Looking forward to visiting again soon! #Lawrys #Feedback #ExceptionalService 🍴🥩🥔🥗
Love the ambiance as it's an old school fine dining vibe. The carts for the prime rib are super cool. The service was good not great. And the food was good, but I did expect a little more quality for the prices. I mean the prime rib is great, but the sides were good not great. Fun experience.
We've been coming here for years and it's been open for years what I love about this place is that it stays true to its origins. The prime rib was really good as well as the service was excellent! We had carolers so that was a great touch for the holiday season! I think the people in the front when you first come in the place need to step it up other than that the place itself was running like it always has and do a great job. Thank you for keeping up the tradition! The reason we were there was to make sure my father-in-law Bob was able to enjoy the place he loves so much! It didn't disappoint.

The cocktails were excellent. The table bread was good, the fondue was great, but the bread served with it was BURNED (I happen to like this but my wife was pissed). I had the Chilean Sea Bass, and it was very forgettable. The brussels sprouts, like the bread, were also burned. My wife REALLY enjoyed her prime rib (Lawry's cut) and she said all the sides were good. The service was just okay, but the vibes were cool in there decorated for Christmas. They had groups of carolers singing throughout the restaurant which was great! There are a lot of other restaurants along La Cienega which are far superior. I'd avoid this place unless you're going during Christmas time.
First, this review is based on comparing Lawry's with House of Prime Rib in San Francisco. The service at Lawry's was excellent - we had two waiters that were friendly and attentive, which made the dinner very enjoyable. The food was good but House or Prime Rib has them beat in almost every category. At the end of the day the Prime Rib is simply not as good, and I attribute it to focus - while Lawry's has more options (seafood, appetizers, entrees), all HOPR serves is Prime Rib, and the focus on this is easily seen in the meat. I would certainly come back to Lawry's but it's a solid B- compared to House of Prime Rib being a A+.

Came here for a special occasion and was really looking forward to a great prime steak dinner. The food itself wasn’t bad but the service was terrible and far from attentive which was disappointing for a place like Lawry’s. We never received any bread, and not once did anyone check in to ask how everything was. When we were ready to leave, we had to wait quite a while just to get our check because no one came by. Honestly, we could’ve walked out and no one would’ve noticed. The staff felt disengaged almost like “zombie workers.” I noticed an elderly man, who I assumed was the manager, going around to ask every table how their meal was…except ours. To top it off, the restroom was filthy. The toilet had waste in it and there was no toilet paper. Absolutely disgusting for a place that claims to be upscale. Lawry’s has really gone downhill and feels more like a tourist trap now. They're totally riding on their name and reputation. Sadly, this will be our last visit. Would not come back even if the meal were free.

Ordered to go online for family of 4 - 12/25/24 Meat was terrible Impossible to roast with ribs down, instead they stuck up in the air as well as under meat Impossible to carve, quality of meat BAD
Waiter had a horrible attitude and was very argumentative no matter how politely you request any thing your responsed to rudely and treated harshly food took over one hour to arrive even though the carts containing the prime rib are literally walking around the dining room and after the mind blowing amount of time it took to receive when our food arrived the plate looked like pig slop they piled all the meat, mashed 🥔s , gravy creamed corn, yorkshire pudding and aujus into a single plate making it a kinda of soup/stew waiting to overflow onto the the nice clothes you are wearing because you are in Beverly hills after all and when I asked if I could please have the sides ON THE SIDE like I could see every other person in the very large and open dining area I was told the sides dont go on the side but they would happily accommodate my request because "appetrantly they mistakenly DID serve every other person in the restaurant incorrectly" and " for the sake of uniformity we will go ahead and honor your request but you should bot expect this to happen again" to be honest i didn't expect it to happen the 1st time I asked for my prime rib to be medium rare and received weldone and when I said to the server that there had been a mistake made the server actually told me in front of my wife and 4 guests that perhaps I was drunk be cause I order it "burnt" when my brother inlaw explained to him that I stopped drinking 3 years ago And he should double check the notes taken when the order was placed the server said he would look but knows what he was told and the 5 other people who disagree are all mistaken when he finally did consult his notes, he told us that there was a person. 5 tables over who asked for her meat well done keyword Here is HER meat. I am a biological male with a beard who identifies as a MAN And that lady wasn't even seated at my table. Our servers response to this to inform us extremely nonchalantly Mistakes happen when we're busy The delivery, my brother and espresso martini with lipstick on the glass. So I'm pretty sure that the glass was not clean, either That or someone else had drunk out of it, you know, as it taste test the table was never cleaned in between courses Even though we asked several times when I was given the food that I requested i received it cold and wound up Not eating it is my belief that if it takes them 3 times to get it right. I shouldn't eat it We received our bill and noticed that there had been an additional order totaling $111 in addition to that, the order that I did not eat and had taken away from the table. Was still on our bill even though we were told it would be taken off when I questioned the additional charge. I was informed that it belonged to the nice lady we spoke of earlier who was several tables over they would have to bring a manager because she had already left. And her bill was paid i've had some bad experiences at restaurants in my life. And I'm certain everybody else has but this was the worst of them all i have a photo I need the food that was delivered to me last and you still kind of put most of the stuff in one plate and its not even arranged nicely look at the plate. Everything is thrown, and it does not look appetizing.Whatsoever Don't waste your money here. If they bring you your order properly it's kind of tasteless You should not be paying eighty dollars for a piece of meat when the horseradish and sour dough bread are the stars of the show Not to mention horrible service and being expected to pay other people's bills but possibly the worst of everything is that I had to go to jack in the box at midnight on valentine's day.So I could eat diner

Honestly, if you haven't had it, you're missing out on a piece of L.A....
