Whatever Granny put in her grits has me won over on how smooth, creamy, and delicious they were! Heading from Montgomery, we were looking up places to eat in Birmingham before we pushed through back to Memphis. Granny's Fish and Grits truck came up on my search. We took a chance and pulled off the highway in Birmingham to Granny's Fish and Grits truck. We thought the food must be good as there was steady traffic pulled up to pick up orders in the cold rain. The service when ordering was polite and friendly. We ordered two shrimp and grits bowls with sausage and fried okra on the side. With anticipation, we dug into our shrimp and grit bowls. Man, those grits did not disappoint. They hit right with the cold rain pouring outside. Smooth and creamy, buttery, not too salty, seasoned just right. I said out loud that I could've had a bowl of the grits by themselves. The sausage and shrimp took second stage to the creamy grits, IMO. However, they added the right amount of flavor: smoked sausage and shrimp seasoned with herbs and spices. Yum!!! The fried okra was alright. We ate half of our bowls in the car and packed them away for later and got back on the road to Memphis. When we arrived at our hotel at 1am, we couldn't wait to warm up our Granny's Fish and Grits bowls. My man wanted me to warm up his bowl, too. That ninja doesn't typically eat leftovers. Now, before I got the bowl into the microwave, I took another bite of the grits. Those grits were just as creamy and delicious as they were when they were served to us piping hot off the truck five hours earlier. Those creamy and delicious grits did NOT turn into a brick even after cooling down. Best grits I've ever had! Thank you, Granny's Fish and Grits and Birmingham!!

My friend and I was in Birmingham for a show and ended up deciding to try this spot. It was a good thing we did..Food was made hot and didn’t take to long .. I love the outside vibe of it all. The location was easy accessible. The price for what I got was reasonable also . To bad I didn’t get a picture of my catfish with okras and grits plate

After googling black owned businesses in my area, this place came up. Didn’t know it was a food truck until I arrived. Everyone was very nice. The order didn’t take long to be prepared. I was amazed how seasoned the food was. I ordered the shrimp and grits bowl. I will recommend and refer to my friends and family. The experience was Super Great! Didn’t care for the location of the truck but everything turned out Great. Had my bodyguard with me, lol.

Just stopped in randomly on a road trip. This is a food truck. Everyone in the truck was really nice. I ordered a single catfish with fries and grits. I ate every single bite and kond of want to go back for more! Super tasty fish. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Better than high end restaurants, honestly. Highly suggest a visit!

This place was amazing. Had the grits bowl with shrimp and sausage along with a catfish plate. From the first bite, the fact that I didn't have to season the grits was a HUGE plus. Then the sausage and shrimp was seasoned well and cooked perfect. The catfish was also seasoned and cooked perfectly for my taste. I was so pleased with this experience and the wait wasn't long at all. This would be my first choice in Birmingham for Fish and Grits. Will definitely be frequenting this again.

The food was good and cooked to order in a reasonable amount of time (10 minutes) I had the catfish plate with grits and okra. The prices are just a little high for what you get. I paid $12 for 1 piece of catfish grits and okra. Its about $17 for 2 pieces and 2 sides.

Food is delicious. Service is speedy and hospitable. The only problem is parking depending on the time and day. Other than that would definitely recommend. I got the 2 piece catfish with double grits for a Lil under 20$. The fish was crispy and well seasoned; grits were cheesy, creamy, and thick. Now I gotta go back to get a grit bowl...

Tried this place last night and the food is good! Ordered the 2 piece catfish basket with fries. It’s a food truck that cooks food fresh. My order took 10min, or slightly less, to be ready. The service was also good.

Let me start off by saying that normally, I love the food here. The owner is amazing. He's so kind & personable. This place has always been a vibe! So much, that I decided to introduce my mentor to this place today. Sadly, I had the worst experience ever today. The young lady that took my order at the window was so rude? When I would ask her general questions regarding the menu, she'd respond "What you talkin bout?" & roll her eyes. She was just outright cold. I'm not sure if she is related to upper management or what the deal is, but she is just blatantly rude?... Lastly, I asked her how much it would cost to upgrade our grits to super grits... We ordered 2 catfish plates... Why this girl told me that the price would go from $18 & some change to $30 (for 1 plate; added the second plate moments later)... I've never paid that amount... Ever. Mind you, the fish was so soft, wet, & salty... Normally, the fish is crispy & delicious... Well, not today. The fish was so wet that my bread was too soggy to make the 1/2 fish sandwich that I normally make. I hope this is an isolated incident, because I've always enjoyed the food here.

The food is usually good but my purchase of a fish plate/chicken plate Saturday 6/14/24 was way too salty. If you're not sure about how much seasoning to use less is better than too much,you can always add if not seasoned enough after food is cooked but if it's over seasoned it's nothing you can do. If I had tasted my food before making it all the way back home I definitely would've asked for my orders to be re-made. I couldn't even eat my food and I drove in the heavy rain 30 minutes to get this food.
