Went to Ironwood for dinner last weekend and really enjoyed it. We tried several of their dishes and loved them all. We started with the bacon which was a popular choice and it was amazing. I ordered the oysters and these were super fresh. The octopus is a great option too. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable and was very attentive as well. Prices are a bit on the high side which is expected for the type of restaurant and the neighborhood that it’s in but if you feel like splurging on a Friday night we definitely recommend.

The food was very flavorful. I had the steak and truffle fries for brunch. The service was top tier. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The ambiance was soft lite with an elegant decor. This is one of my favorite restaurants.

I dined there recently and it was so good I decided to leave a review. I went not fully knowing what it would be like but I am remarkably glad we went. The menu did not match the menu we saw online but that was ok. This was a brunch menu I believe but there was a burger on there and I went with it. It was one of the best cheese burgers I have ever had in my life. It was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and intricately pieced together. The seasoning was reminiscent of what is used for steaks with a nice salty and subtly smokey flavor. In the burger there was a garlic aioli and it was delicious and inundated the entire burger with creamy garlic that melded with everything wonderfully. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was swanky and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will be back.

We went for a girls night/birthday dinner. Absolutely amazing experience. The ambience is extremely nice, lived the lighting. The food was great. I loved the presentation of everything. My favorite was the Hanger appetizer, the hanging bacon was too cute. Brussels and focaccia were soo good! The taste of the food was superb. I had the Steak Frites as my main course. 10/10. My drink of choice was a margarita, so good! I will definitely be back soon!!

Tried this restaurant again for a solo dinner. Apps: Brussel Sprouts Hanger (Brown Sugar Coated) Entree: Bourbon Braised Shortrib, with house-made collards and corn grit cake. The food was delicious. The grit cake comes out really hot, so be careful. Everything was very thought out and prepared, the chef's dishes. If you’re in the Birmingham area, this is a must-try.

I have a monthly breakfast meeting here and over the past two months the menu and service has improved significantly. Breakfast was amazing, the vibe was perfect, and everything came out just right. Huge shout-out to Rosie—she was awesome! Super friendly, appropriately attentive, and just made the whole experience better. You can tell she genuinely cares about making sure guests have a good time. If you haven’t been yet, definitely go—and hope you get Rosie as your server!

This place was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to go back. We went for my birthday dinner yesterday I wish I could give this place 1000/10. I'd like to thank Brandy, our server, she was very friendly, attentive and patient. We had the pork belly and brussel sprouts(which were a little spicy) for starters. For our entrée, we had the Gemelli pasta, kids chicken tenders, wood grilled Angus tenderloin and Bison strip(put a pin in that) Now this was my second time trying bison... my first experience was at Bama Bucks in Sardis City; they've earned the title of having the best steak in Alabama... in my opinion, they don't hold a candle to this place. I'd most definitely like these two restaurant to compete "who has the best bison". It's just that good! Everything was amazing, thank you for all that you do. Their dinner menu was very limited but... what's understood needs NO explanation!

My husband and I chose Ironwood Kitchen & Cocktail to celebrate our 15th year anniversary, April 27th. Let me say, they did not disappoint. I would like to personally thank Shay for being a polite hostess. Secondly, our server Nick was phenomenal. Friendly, adequate, patience, and well verse with suggestions. Promptly checks with drinks and food. Even asked if our steak was cooked to correct temperature, Thank you Nick! The BOH praise! My goodness, my goodness, my goodness! From the presentation to the taste, just amazing! We begin with two starters Gulf Oysters and Brussel Sprout. Both amazing starters. The oysters were not overcooked, seasoned perfectly, and already pulled. I loved not having to struggle with detaching it. The brussel sprouts were my favorite (I loved brussel sprouts). The honey vinaigrette was a great light touch and somehow the feta cheese worked. Different but did not disappoint. Our entrée were Grilled Atlantic Salmon and Buttered Basted Filet. The presentation, the delicious smell, to perfectly cooked. We were simply impressed and wow at the same time! My words of compliments and praise doesn't serve justice. I highly recommend RSVP and trying for yourself. We will visit again!

Beautiful restaurant situated in Homewood inside the Valley Hotel Homewood. The seating in front of the bar allows for great street views as you enjoy your food with your guests. Cocktails were great! Bar staff hit a home run with their recommendations. Highly recommended!

This is a nice place to have a casual dinner or just a drink. I had the kale salad with shrimp. There were a lot of great ingredients in the salad, although the kale was tough to eat. The stems were particularly chewy. My husband had the scallops with risotto. Although the scallops were great, the risotto was a little heavy. Our server was very attentive and courteous.

What an amazing dining experience. Not your typical "hotel" restaurant. From the cozy atmosphere to the friendly, professional, knowledgeable service to the menu that featured quail, venison, farm raised chicken, etc. this was one of the best meals I've had in awhile. First up was a delicious seasonal cocktail, followed by warm house baked bread and rosemary dipping oil. Then I tried the stuffed quail appetizer. Honesty that could have been a meal in itsef, served over sautéed kale. The skin was crispy, the meat tender and juicy. For my entree I tried the coffee-rubbed venison with cherries. Again perfectly seasoned and cooked to a medium-rare. I couldn't resist the dessert menu. After debating between the cobbler and lemon posset, I chose the posset because it's the first time I've ever seen it on a restaurant menu. From start to finish, the meal was perfection. I would definitely go back.

Shrimp and grits is a hit or miss. Manager passive aggressive, and dismissive of complaint about dish after 2 failed attempts to replace. Still, waitress was great, very warm and polite.

The food was very good, however the service was among the worst I have ever experienced, particularly in such a high priced establishment. On a slow Wednesday night (no wait for a table), I was not able to get a refill on my water even once. Drinks took over 20 minutes to come out, with the staff bordering on rude when someone would ask if their drink was coming. A couple people ordered dessert and after 20 minutes it still hadn't come. We asked our waitress if she could take our picture and she scoffed, said no and simply walked away. While the food was very good, it was expensive and not worth the extremely poor service.

All in all, we had a pleasant evening meal with friends at this restaurant. The atmosphere was lovely. The food was of good quality and tasty. Personally, I think it was not good value for money. The portion sizes were a bit small. The service, was friendly but a bit inattentive. It was nice to try, but not necessarily a restaurant I'd go back to again.

We were a party of 5, and went on Sunday evening of Valentine's Day weekend. Honestly, we'd been once before the previous year and found it overpriced and mediocre, but this restaurant was the only one we could get a reservation for due to the holiday. Our server was Josh, and at first I thought he was just a bad server (never refilled drinks, took forever to take our order, even telling us to wait when we told him we were ready, etc.). He appeared completely stressed out and overwhelmed. Later, I observed him having to bus his own tables and that he had half the restaurant he was trying to serve. Thus, this is a management/staffing issue and wasn't his fault. For the prices on the menu, it's ridiculous a server would have to bus his or her own tables. Food was a mixed bag. The bacon appetizer was on point. Even with the horrible service, I would return just for this one item. It's not overly-candied and has the perfect amount of heat. As a true bacon lover, it was scrumptious. That said, I would order it at the bar so I could get better service. Oysters were also good, though I didn't have any. We were never offered bread. The seafood salad was well-presented and tasty with a good shrimp portion. The crab, though, consisted of a few microscopic shreds on the top of the lettuce wedge. Entrees: I was hesitant to order the $85 "Valentine's" special ribeye because of our past experience. Plus, it would have to be incredible for $85. It wasn't. It came out in separate pieces, which was weird. I ordered it medium rare. The smaller end piece was well done. The other pieces were rare. I was good with those, as well as the purée under them (I forget what it was, maybe butternut squash?). Risotto was a bit gluey, but tasted decent. I had a mild allergic reaction to something in this dish. My sinuses all clogged up tight and my face got hot. Couldn't breathe out of my nose. I don't have any known food allergies, so this was bizarre. All said, $85 is a prime steakhouse price for something that was far from prime. My daughter ordered the hanger steak medium rare. It came sliced. It was well done except for one piece that was medium well. Garlic fries were good when piping hot. Josh never came back to see how our meal was, so we couldn't say anything. I had to ask the hostess for silverware and steak knives. He was nowhere to be found. We had long run out of our first cocktails (that took 30+ minutes to arrive once seated). We did order another round towards the end of the meal, but had to ask for tea refills for the parents. Filet was "fine" according to my husband. Pork and beans were great according to my father-in-law. That looked like the best meal, by far. Don't remember what my MIL ordered, but she liked it (seafood risotto?). The whole experience took two hours, most of which was spent waiting for Josh to make a rare appearance, so we didn't bother with dessert. I think they only had the two Valentine's menu choices, neither of which sounded tempting. All in all, the hit or miss food and the poor service makes this a spot to go to only if you can't get a resy anywhere else. Again, I'm not blaming the server. He clearly had way too much for one person to do. You'd think a high-end restaurant like this could afford staff, but something is off here. For us to have two mediocre experiences a whole year apart shows this wasn't simply an off night. It's a consistent management/staffing issue with no truly memorable food to offset the rest of the problems, not to mention the high prices. If I ever go back, it will be just to the bar for a cocktail and that lovely bacon. Then we would go somewhere better for our actual meal.

I had the 1/2 chicken that came with Mac and cheese and a savory slaw. It was a 10/10. Everything was perfectly seasoned and all items complimented each other. I had the s'mores for dessert 6/10, tastes better at home after putting in the microwave. The waiter was friendly but not as tentative as we'd like and the service was rather slow. I would recommend visiting if you have time to spare.

I'll give it two stars. I went on January 18thand the waiter was amazing . We left him a $60 tip... The food was alright but the drinks were THE BEST we ever had. But I went today for lunch. The waiter was the bartender and he was rude . He made my husband and I a half a cup of old fashion .. we complained but he didnt fix it yet we were charged full price. Then my Brussel sprouts werent made the same. He got mad so I asked them to make me a poached egg on the side.. he went and got the manager. The manager was rude also . Questioning me about if id really ever been there before. *came off as prejudice* I showed her pictures and the details from the photos which showed i was there on the 18th. Even though they obviously stereotyped me and my husband they failed to realize that we own four Cemeteries and monument companies. They messed up their tip and future customers. But the night shift is AMAZING. I wouldn't recommend the lunch staff or food to anybody. The hospitable staff comes in after 5pm 🖤

Went last night with friends for her birthday dinner. It took 3 hours to be done. I’ve eat at lesser expensive places and had better food and drinks. It didn’t matter which specialty drink you asked for, they were flavorless and tasted like grapefruit, my chicken was tasty but very dry. You don’t get a side, it’s $8 extra, and to make it better, they charged me for everyone’s food and overcharged my friend who split the birthday girl’s dinner cost with me. I based my tip on my total $180. Service was so bad the manager gave us dessert free, which we never asked for. When o noticed the problem, they said to get my friend to Venmo me the difference and a tip couldn’t be reversed. Never again.

Ordered from the bar menu as it was late and didn't want a huge meal. Spent almost $30 on what I THOUGHT would be parmesan garlic fries and steak skewer with onions, peppers and poblano chili sauce. No sauce on the $18 steak skewer, though it was delicious. The fries were recommended and were nothing more than the egg battered fries, never saw garlic or parmesan.

I really wanted to love this place given how much praise I had heard for it, but aside from being realitively easily accessible with parking and being easy to find, my experience was incredibly lackluster. Let's break it down. The service: Our service was slow between courses and they were not that busy. We waited nearly 25 minutes for our entree and once dessert orders were taken, nearly 20 minutes for those. The server was also not incredibly attentive. My partner has some food come out cold and my food was cooked beyond the requested temperature (usually due to it sitting waiting to be plated or served). The drinks came quick, though. The food: I had the steak frites with fries and the cast iron cherry cobbler. The steak was cooked to well when I requested medium and the meat quality was chewy and gristly. The steak sauce that was their signature sauce or something similar was ok, but it was basically just A1. The fries were cold. The saving grace was the cast iron cherry cobbler - that was very good. The portions also don't even remotely match the price. I am ok with smaller portions but they also weren't filling. The drinks: I had some sort of Southern Maitai and it was good. Not something I'd likely get a second. Overall, we were with a group for a birthday event and this was my first visit. I would like to try again and some of these issues could have been just due to a bad night or bad staff, and maybe I will. But overall it just wasn't a good experience and I left disappointed and dissatisfied.

Got sat and waited at our table for about 15 minutes with no service. Not even water or a greeting or anything. The servers walked past us multiple times. The family that got sat AFTER us was greeted and had waters and the server went over there multiple times. Never said anything at all to us. Eventually just got up and left because that was ridiculous. As we got up the server told us to enjoy our day… I mean thank you but why can you tell us to enjoy our day but can’t greet us or acknowledge us at our table? Super disappointing I’ve been here multiple times for dinner and had great service and amazing food!

Hellonwheels999 (Hellonwheels999)

Disappointing at best. For expensive this place is I will NEVER come back and NEVER recommend it. This is a place to get wasted and leave, not to eat, I ordered chicken tenders for my daughter, she didn’t like it so I tasted it, it tasted like flour batter, no seasoning, not even a dash of SALT! So adults get gourmet food and screw the kids? I was told they “buy in” the tenders…. For meals that reach $50-60 you buy in the cheapest meat to give a kid? For drinks you can either have a glass of water or an alcoholic beverage, no soda, no tea, NOTHING normal to drink. You’ll buy in bland chicken tenders but you can’t buy in a beverage for non alcoholics to drink? So a kids meal, 1 side of potato wedges, a salad and drink was almost $130 because they put the gratuity all on our tab instead of splitting it between the whole table! I would have felt more fulfilled at McDonalds. Expensive Lesson learned. If you’re looking for a nice place to eat, it’s NOT this place!

We had a party of 3. Service was very slow, she was sweet so we over looked it. Came in on Sunday morning. The biscuits and gravy was disgusting. It was wet flour and water. Never will be back. Food just wasn’t that good for the price. Not counting we waited over an hour for food. I noticed other people with different waitresses was going to look for them to receive refills.
