This is a good place to visit. The restrooms are always clean. There's a gift shop with all kinds of books and shirts and hoodies, hats and sea items. There's a mini mart with fish products, wine, sodas, chips, jerky and other stuff to eat. There's a restaurant in the back overlooking the water. It has a bar in the restaurant over to one side. Lots to choose from in the menu. There's a snack bar on the other side of the building that you could order almost the same food. My partner and I ate there and ordered the bread bowl, fish and chips with onion rings and a soda. Everything was restaurant quality and very delicious. Out on the dock there were some sea lions getting some rays. You can spend some time doing things here. Good visit!

Right on the Bodega bay with beautiful views. Famous for Alfred Hitchcock filming of sences in the movie "The Birds". Food was delicious and our services was great. Charming gift shop and market. Don't miss heading outside to be greeted by the sea lions.

Hot Crab Sandwich was amazing! We got sat by the window facing NW and we were very lucky to get see a Bald Eagle attacking a smaller bird in the water. He landed and I got some good shots on my phone, all while sitting at my table!

Ambiance was amazing as the view of the bay was breathtaking today. No wind and super clear. Service was excellent. We had clam chowder with a salad which included bay shrimp. Delicious.

Ordered the red snapper grilled with rice and veggie medley. I asked to gave the veggies cooked til soft - no problem. The meal was literally perfect. My wife’s crab sandwich was less than desirable. But our friends fried fish and chips was also delicious. Cole slaw had a lot of sauce in it, but it had plenty of flavor. I had the Rodney Strong cab wine-great selection. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. I would definitely go back again.

Service was eh, not super friendly. Asked for a margarita with no salt, gave the first one to my husband as it came with salt. The calamari was okay, not as melt in your mouth that I would expect from someway that specializes in fish. The clam chowder was the creamy and very tasty! We both really enjoyed it. Two margaritas, two large bowls of soup and calamari was over $90, just to give an idea of cost.

Note that I am not reviewing the restaurant on site, but their attached fish market. This is very much a gift shop that happens to sell fish, not the other way around. Lots of touristy stuff, sauces, jars, tins, vibes. The clam chowder price made me do a small internal gasp, so set expectations accordingly. That said, the smoked fish was a pleasant surprise. Reasonable prices, decent variety, and honestly the best reason to stop in if you’re actually looking to bring something home that isn’t a magnet. Not a bad market, just not quite the fishmonger fantasy the name suggests.

Lovely spot for lunch. Every table has a view of the bay. Love that they brought crusty sourdough to the table. The crab caeser came with a generous mound of crab and tiny but tasty seasoned croutons. They serve a thick and clammy clam chowder. I thought the crab sandwich was a tad dry but it was still enjoyable. Service was excellent.

Its a great stop because of the history and some shopping. I only had the clam chowder and I was not impressed. It tasted like canned soup. Not sure if it was, it could have been made in house, but you're better off going to a small place on the marina for chowder.

I've been here at The Tides. This time around I was disappointed. First, they sit us which at first I thought was a beautiful view. But only to be attacked by a swam of flies..I mean 1 fly is too many but I couldn't count the swam because they were all over the window. We asked to be moved, they seated us completely opposite side of the restaurant. You would have thought we were hiding because it took them a while to find us. We ordered the seafood platter for 2, Chowder. Chowder was just ok, the platter was a huge disappointment. The oysters were the star although it was missing a serving of mignonette, dungeness crab looked like shredded crab. I had to mixed it up with the seafood sauce in order to add flavor. I had to ask saltine crackers to step it up. Lobster pieces were just ok, prawns were shrimpy no flavor, rubbery.

We had breakfast and dinner there but nothing really stood out to us except the atmosphere. First off, the Continental breakfast was really bad. We ordered it because it came with our hotel booking. The croissant tasted like an old piece from grocery stores, worse than the croissant we got the night before from The Bird cafe nearby. The muffin tasted way worse and I had to put it aside after just one bite. If you ever get a free breakfast coupon from the hotel across from it, pls do yourself a favor. Just ditch it and order something else. For dinner, we had shrimp pasta and red snapper with rice. The pasta was more salty than elsewhere but strangely it didn't have that creamy, garlicky flavor with a hint of herbal and tomatoes mix. It was salty and bland. Weird. The snapper didn't have much taste either. We ordered grilled snapper but it didn't have any taste of grill, and I had to add more black pepper to spice it up, which I never did in the restaurant. Our server, however, was very nice. We also got a nice window seat, which had a five star view of the bay, sunset, and seals swimming by.

Late post (review). I was very disappointed. I ordered the fish and chips and calamari a week ago and it was absolutely a disgrace. I expected more from them. The calamari was barely fried yet the squid was hard which means it was frozen. 🤦🏽‍♀️. I held them at a high standard and was sadly disappointed. The customer service was amazing The food was so nasty. I truly hope they revise their menu : chefs : priority. Sadly most eating establishments that have bad food don’t want to admit they have bad food. I won’t be back.

I had the clam chowder. Really sandy and gritty. I told my waiter about it and he didn’t do anything. I would expect way more from a $20 bowl of clam chowder. At least wash the sand out of the clams! Coastal Kitchen had way better tasting clam chowder, sand or no sand. The burger was pretty good. The clam strips mediocre. The bread pudding was pretty good because of the caramel sauce. The bread pudding itself was too dense and not warmed up well. Waiter did not fill our water. We even asked and he said ok but never came back. I will not be eating here again. Very old unappealing interior. Lots of other places to spend your money in bodega bay.

The new England clam chowder was runny, tasted good, but felt off consistency wise. We ordered fried chicken and that was extremely crispy and was definitely cooked too long. The bread was hard around the edges and not enjoyable. The atmosphere watching the bay was amazing, the staff were amazing, the food mediocre at best, especially at the premium they charge.

Looks can be deceiving! NOT WORTH EVEN HALF THE PRICE!!! Very expensive for that quality of food and service. The view from the Windows was beautiful. The presentation of food was very nice. (originally). The Fish Tacos were SOGGY! My Salad was ONLY lettuce and inconsistently sliced carrots!!! Stingy with salad dressing. However, the waiter was HORRIBLE!!! Cold, rude man. I had more than a few times tried to get his attention to ask him a question about something or get a different salad dressing. More than once, the waiter tried to remove our plates before we were finished. He did not even ask us whether or not we wanted carry-out boxes for our remaining food. He didn't even ask us if we wanted a dessert. You have a choice of fries or salad with the fish, not both. For that price and quality of food, especially that 2 piece salad (over-sized pieces), it should include both!!! We originally wanted cannolis for dessert. But, after the poor service, we weren't about to ask for dessert!!! It was NOT the Birthday my husband was trying to give me. He put in the effort and money, but the price, service of the waiter, and quality of food ruined it. 😒

Lived in Santa Rosa over 12 years and avoided this place as a tourist trap. Finally gave it a try and it was worse than expected. Food was average, but the service was on par with what you might expect at McDonald’s. We had to ask for the bill from the host who was sitting at a table on his cell phone after waiting for 20 mins with our cold food and empty plates sitting in front of us. We were a family trying to make memories and actually cancelled our reservation at a finer restaurant to give this place a try against our better judgement. Go down the road to the rivers end and save yourself the misery of waiting to find your waiter on a smoke break to get your bill. We were a party of 3 ordering whole market price crab, chioppino, steamed clams and wine, the people next to us shared a burger and soda with probably an $40 tab and were waited on ten times faster with a different server. Never again.

I have enjoyed the open faced hot crab sandwich for 25 years. I took a friend there 1/17/25 and was horrified at the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The sandwich was served stone cold; the cheese was congealed, the bread was barely toasted. The seafood platter for 2 was just ok. The server was very rude. We wanted to move to eat in the bar (before our food came) so we could watch a football game because the wifi was not working. He said no.

I've been a fan of this place for a number of years. The food , the atmosphere , and the people. Second to none ! I recently returned... Almost wish I hadn't! The place has lost the classy appeal it once had starting with the food and working it's way down from there . None of their menu featured items from my recollection of the past are there anymore. What i ended up settling for was a huge disappointment! But I'll leave it at that. No need to get nasty here...but talk about NASTY!!! My recommendation? Go across the street.
