Loved the unique flavors, it was a nice departure from our usual meals. It's a really large restaurant that can seat large groups if needed, and also has a nice outdoor dining space. It wasn't full when we had lunch so it was relatively quiet and easy to have conversation. Be aware that there are TVs in the main dining area, for better or worse depending on your kids.
I had lunch at Burma Spice in Redwood City and was thoroughly impressed. The service was excellent, and every dish—from the appetizers to the salad to the main course—was delicious. They also offer plenty of vegetarian options, which is a big plus. I highly recommend trying the Tea Leaf Salad, a classic staple of Burmese cuisine. It’s a must-order!
I had never been to a Burmese restaurant before and I let my server know that. So, he offered to assist me with ordering. And he did an awesome job! I ended up ordering Palada with chicken as an appetizer with a Tea Leave Salad (he suggested I get it with cabbage since that is the authentic way it is prepared in Burma). He asked if I like spicy or sweet and when I told him "definitely spicy", he recommended the Chili Lamb with a side of Jasmine Rice. Everything he suggested was perfect and incredibly fresh. I almost forgot, I also ordered a Lychee Martini (I made that decision on my own 😏) It was a light and refreshing drink and definitely not too sweet. I will definitely be back since I visit Redwood City on a regular basis.
This was our first time trying this type of cuisine and we're wondering why haven't we had this sooner!? Each dish we had were great portions and super flavorful. And service was soo nice! Inside is so homey and open. Can't wait to come back and try more! What We Ordered: Palata with Chicken Curry Dip Salt & Pepper Calamari Tea Leaf Salad Nan Gyi Thoke Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp Strawberry Italian Soda Burmese Milk Tea
Our family had a wonderful meal at Burma Spice! It was probably the best Burmese food we’ve had in the Bay Area. The atmosphere was nice, the service was attentive, and the food was delicious. Since we went on Valentine’s Day, they surprised the wine with the gift of long-stemmed roses. A nice touch. We ordered sweet and sour double lobsters, Burma house noodles, basil lemongrass chicken, sesame beef, and of course, tea leaf salad. All of them were scrumptious. We will definitely be back with more friends and family!
Delicious food in a comfortable setting. Excellent service. I had the coconut chicken curry, so tasty, the chicken was so tender you didn’t need a knife to cut it. Don’t miss this gem!
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We had the Honey Walnut Shrimp to die for, Burmese Chicken Curry, Biryani Rice, Jasmine Rice, and Ginger Salad. Dishes are made for sharing, We were 'starving', and we still had plenty left over. Everything was cooked to perfection. Hats off to the chefs! The restaurant has a calm, spiritualish, warm natural vibe with a welcoming staff. Very nice! Sorry, I thought I took more pictures of our food, but I guess I was too busy eating. Grrrr
We live in the neighborhood and this place just opened. Overall good experience. I would recommend and come back. Some of the Burmese classics and others that seemed more pan-Asian. Tastes that made me think I was back in Burma. You can tell they're still refining some things. The pumpkins pork stew (clearly something that's slow cooked & reheated wasn't heated up enough; but still great taste), The salt and pepper calamari. It was nice and crispy. Well cooked without it being chewy. And a great dipping sauce. However, the batter had very little pepper in it. The Burmese House noodles were delicious. I would recommend getting it with the tofu (they use the bruised kind and it was delicious). Very attentive staff who checked in with you just the right amount. I'd recommend coming and supporting this local business.
This was the warmest environment for a dining experience one could ask for. The staff was extremely helpful/friendly, the food tasted spectacular, and I would definitely recommend to friends and family. Please give this restaurant a try ASAP, you will not be disappointed.

This is a great restaurant, every dish is delicious😋 Unique Burmese flavor. You must try their tea salad, which is their signature dish. The service is also very good👍
Everything was delicious. Some strong flavors (chicken lettuce wraps, red curry tofu and tea leaf salad) some mild and comforting (pumpkin curry, green beans, butter noodles). Great knowledgeable and kind staff. They were easily able to accommodate those in our party that were celiac and dairy free. Definitely adding this to my favorite places.
First time experience here and Burmese food. Excellent. Service was immediate, food came out extremely fast - almost too fast. The tea leaf salad, samosas, lettuce wraps, chicken main dish and shrimp fried rice were all made to perfection. Black Rice desert was great to end the meal. Will be back on my next trip to northern Cali.
I am a huge fan of Burmese food and have tried several in SF and all of Bay Area. Honestly one of the best I have ever had here. I have eaten in person and gotten take out. I have tried the Tea Leaf Salad, Sesame Tofu, Fiery Vegetables and Pineapple fried rice. Everything was so delicious. The server was extremely helpful, polite and pleasant making the experience in person worth it. Will be a regular to Burma Spice.
Burma Spice gets 5 stars from me! I only had the chance to try their takeout on a recent trip to California, but wow — it absolutely lived up to the hype. My family couldn’t stop raving about it, and every bite delivered. Flavorful, spicy, and perfectly balanced. The Minty Jalapeño Chicken and Chili Lamb were incredible — cooked and seasoned to perfection. Can’t wait to dine in on my next trip. Highly recommend!
We were a group of 8 for a birthday dinner and all really enjoyed the meal and had great service. Our favourite dishes were the Sweet Chili Tofu Appetizer, Mango Tofu, Burma House Noodles with Tofu, and Chili Ginger Pork. Many of us recommend the coconut rice and Burma Dream drink.

Super delicious Green Tea Salad, Samosas, green beans, vegetable curry dish, chicken curry dish, pineapple fried rice and coconut pudding dessert with ice cream we’ve ever had. Really great portions , super friendly staff - overall great energy! We highly recommend.

We went for lunch and ordered a few appetizers along with one main course. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. This time, we enjoyed everything so much that there were no leftovers to take home — a good sign, right? Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I’ll definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again soon.
Can't go wrong with the Nan Gyi Thoke here! Creamy and tasty. Though most of the chicken has the flavor, the noodles are dense and a good texture. I also recommend the Sesame Chicken! Imagine orange chicken but 10x better with the texture. Definitely order some veggies too though. That's a whole lot of just chicken.... Customer service is good and the ambiance is nice. Identical menu to Burma Taste in Sunnyvale, but more home-like vibes.
We stumbled upon Burma Spice while perusing through for a little something different, something we don't normally eat or come across. Turned out to be a great idea! I think Burma Spice is fairly new, so they are still sorting things out. Good size venue with ample amount of parking and seating. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entry even though we didn't have a reservation. It took a while longer for the staff to come get our order though...we actually had to flag someone down. Same thing when it came to getting the bill as well. Everything else was very good. #BurmeseEats: ~ Tea Leaf Salad - 3.5/5 While this was good, we had much better Tea leaf Salads. We felt it was lacking something for some reason. The staff mix it for you table side, so let them know if you want to take a pic beforehand. ~ Nan Gyi Thoke - 4/5 The noodles threw us off. They were like Spaghetti...neither of us was expecting that. We were expecting something more along the likes of Asian Vermicelli or Glass Noodles. The Coconut Chicken Curry Sauce was tasty and the fresh and fried red onions along with the Wonton Chips & Lime Leaves complimented the dish with a nice crunchy texture. ~ Kebat Lamb - 4/5 Stir-fried tender pieces of Lamb cooked in spices with Mint, Chili, Cilantro, Onion and Tomatoes. Tasty with generous portions of Lamb. Bravo! ~ Coconut Rice - 4.5/5 Delicious and well balanced Coconut flavored rice. I could eat this by itself all day long. Can't wait to check out the other dishes.
The restaurant is spacious. Unlike many of the burmese restaurants that i have been to in the bay area. The food was overall good. The chicken basil was over salty. Which they attempted to correct after we let them know. Wasn't a lot different though. The chow mein tasted great. Whereas all of us were happy with the tea leaf salad and the mango salad. The servers were cordial and helpful.

Burma Spice is a Burmese restaurant on El Camino Real in Redwood City. It is situated in a busy strip mall, making parking tight. They have outdoor seating. The food was better than expected and service was solid. Good choice for trying Burmese food on the Peninsula. Safety Pluses - Online menu, Outdoor seating, Delivery services available, online ordering. Food Review: Tea Leaf Salad ($19.99) Romaine lettuce, fried yellow beans, garlic chips, sesame & sunflower seeds, peanuts, tomatoes and jalapenos all tossed with fermented green tea leaf dressing was mixed up tableside. Nice version with good ingredients, a moderate dressing and not much spice. 9/10 Burma House Noodle ($19.99) Rice noodle with red bell peppers, onions, cabbage and egg, with crushed peanuts & lemon on the side is on the sweet side. Less noodles than expected, still an enjoyable dish. 8.5/10 Overall - Very Good Food - Very Good Decor - Good Service - Good Value - Very Good Would we come back - Yes
Burma Spice in Redwood City offers a decent dining experience with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We visited on a Friday evening and found it to be fairly quiet, so reservations likely aren't necessary. The Burmese iced milk tea was a standout, offering a perfect balance of tea flavor, sweetness, and creaminess. The Burmese chow mein with chicken was also enjoyable, with rich flavors and well-cooked noodles. However, I found the chicken pieces to be a bit sparse. My friend's fish chowder noodle soup was creamy but lacked a bit of depth in flavor. The service was fast and friendly, although it took us a few minutes to get someone's attention for seating. Overall, Burma Spice is a solid choice for those seeking Burmese cuisine in Redwood City.
