An unforgettable experience with this amazing show! I will definitely go again next year! New Christmas tradition!🎄✨
The Cutler Majestic Theatre stands quietly on Tremont Street, a reminder of Boston’s long tradition of live performance and grand entertainment spaces. Its ornate exterior hints at the theatrical history held inside. Opened in 1903 as the Majestic Theatre, the building was originally designed for opera and large-scale stage productions. Over the decades it served many roles, including film screenings and concerts, before undergoing a major restoration in the late 1990s. Today it operates as a premier performing arts venue managed by Emerson College. Architecturally, the theatre blends Beaux-Arts elegance with early 20th-century theatrical design, featuring a richly decorated interior and excellent acoustics. Its revival preserved both historic detailing and modern stage technology, allowing the Cutler Majestic to remain an active part of Boston’s cultural life while retaining the character of a classic downtown theater. #CutlerMajestic #BostonTheatre #TremontStreet #EmersonCollege #BostonHistory #HistoricTheatres
We saw this performance last night and it was wonderful & perfect to put in you in a Christmas mood. The theatre is beautiful small but quaint. The acting & singing were impressive! Will Lyman as Scrooge was dynamic. David Jiles (topper, overseer) was a strong presence on stage. Laura McHugh (Mrs. Fezziwig her operatic voice was amazing. I must give a special mention to a family friend & better actress Kathy St. George a consummate professional and my pick for best performance goes to Jared Troilo as Scrooges nephew Fred. He was lively , charismatic & a joy to see on stage. I highly recommend seeing this performance.
Saw viviz on sept.9th and the experience was amazing. The lighting was good and the seats were good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Despite its rich appearance, the theater has a sort of cozy vibe that felt easy to be in.
We just saw "A Christmas Carol" it was so good! What talent! Great show for the holidays!
First time I have been to this theater. We saw Urinetown. Majestic is the perfect word for the theater. It is absolutely gorgeous. The actors were phenomenal. I will make the two-hour Drive Every Spring that I can to see what the students are performing. I cannot believe I didn't know this gem was here until this year
Beautiful little theatre. Very clean and comfortable. We were there visiting Emerson College.
Beautiful, historic location that houses some world famous acts
Saw A Christmas Celtic Sojourn. Fantastic show. Been going for 6 years.
I did not enter. I just noticed the fantastic masonry and took a picture.
Beautiful theater. Great acoustics. Amazing decor. To paraphrase the host of the show we went to see, it's like seeing a performance inside a Faberge egg.
We went to watch Passagers from 7 Fingers and had a blast (great time). The Theater is quite classic and has that vibe to it. Don't expect it to be as humongous as Las Vegas theaters though. We sat in the Orchestra (Central) section. However, you won't be disappointed from picking any section as you will get a good view from pretty much everywhere. There are little balconies with 4 or 5 seats as well which would be best if you want to book it for a family or friends.
Wonderful old over the top Rococo inspired theater. The acoustics in particular were great -- it's a medium sized room that feels intimate but tricks your brain into believing it's huge. Right in the middle of a lot of terrible Boston clubs, but the world takes all kinds, I suppose. Park in the Common garage, but but your entry ahead of time.
Great theater! Beautiful and ornate! We sat up in the balcony and it was still a great view and you could hear everything perfectly. I would love to go to another event here!
What a beautiful theater! It's not huge (well I'm from New York) but big enough. The decor was well preserved and the sound projection was great. One caviat was that I wish the theater was sound proofed against the outside noise - even with the doors closed, the city life seeped in from the back. Hmph!
Really nice theater. There was two snack bars but bathroom were so crowded and the lone was super long. I advice using bathroom before the show or during rather than any break time. There is a parking lot for theaters a block away and is so expensive. If you are lucky you can find parking in the street but it will take time.
it is a smaller theater, but definitely feels majestic with its lush interior and amazing decorations on the ceiling and walls. i usually attend as part of the ArtsEmerson programs and perhaps my appreciation for the theater is enhanced by all the great productions that i have seen there.
This theatre is truly its name. It is absolutely Majestic. It is so beautiful! The seats are so comfortable. And even when you are seating in the Balcony, you can still see the people on stage clearly! I love this theatre!!!
I watched the Celtic Sojourn here. I wasn’t really interested but my brother brought me and I ended up really liking it. The theater’s seating and viewing experience is pretty good. Nothing to complain about here.
such a beautiful place, the detailing is so lovely. if the lighting crew isn't careful, you may be blinded. I worked on a production there and it was a great time, lots of rooms for cast and crew :)
Such a magnificent experience! From the ushers to the performer, one you step inside, your reminded of the magnitude of the vibrations felt on stage, no matter what seat is chosen.
Beautifully restored Beaux-Arts style theater. Great spot to see an opera
Great Theater in Boston. They have a fantastic variety of shows (something is running usually), mostly performed by artists brought in by the Arts Emerson Foundation. They may do other things aswell. Seating is great, offering views from wherever you are, no blocked angles or anything.
The attraction we watched was the Ballet Montreal Jazz performing unique indescribable beauty in movement, based on the poetry and music of the late Leonard Cohen. Words fail to provide any real description. See this theatre magic!!
Honestly can't recall the last time I was here. However, this is the "Combat Zone" from Fallout 4 (Tremont and Lagrange). That's awesome. You guys should lean into that. We've seen what Fallout NV did for the Vegas area. Why not embrace Fallout in "The Commonwealth"? You guys, the Freedom Trail, MIT, Concord/Sanctuary Hills. Let's meet it a thing!
Really really beautiful theater!! Easy access to the T. I hope I come back to see another show.
Beautiful theater 🎭 great seats, great time.
Amazing theater with great employees. The building is easy to find and staff made experience very enjoyable. An audience member was being hostile, the usher calmed them down with no problems and went on with the night. Also, practically every seat in the place is a quality seat because of the theaters size.
I sat in the center of the very last row and had a great view of all the acrobatic action on the stage for a 7 Fingers show. Since there was aerial work, it was probably more comfortable than being seated at the front and having to constantly look up!
Great production of A Christmas Carol. Venue is gorgeous and the staff was amazing. Only complaint, could use a few more adult drinks options
Just saw Tosca. Although seats were back balcony, we still had great view because the pitch is steep. Beautifully decorated in old majestic style, but clean and updated. Balcony has its own restrooms, not crowded! Lovely show, lovely surroundings.
The Christmas Celtic Sojourn is a can’t miss! Wonderful production! The theatre is beautiful and I felt very safe with the vaccine verification and mask monitoring. Only complaint (not enough to dissuade attending again) was hearing sirens and car horns during the show.
Preety good place. Actors are good too. The show was too long though. The piano players were great. I wish the show could have been a little more realistic though. The place was a bit of a maze though, and the bathrooms are way too busy during the intermition.
Beautiful decor and amazing events! I've only had great interactions with the ushers and servers. My only note is that the balcony has no access for the disabled and parking around can be very pricey.
This is a beautiful classical theater with great acoustics.
As a theatre it's not the best, but fine. Very pretty inside but the acoustics can be a bit wonky. Sightlines are not great for all shows.
Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous What a beautiful theater! Intimate with great sight-lines. The seats in the mezzanine were a bit close to the row in front -- think Fenway -- and I'm not a tall guy. Besides that, an incredible place to catch a show.
Quaint and charming theater! Has the classical theater ambience with popular mainstream events covering broad spectrum of genre for everyone. It's nice to be able to provide our daughter with cultural exposure to the theater from the Barber of Seville to Potted Potter without breaking the bank since ticket prices are very reasonable.
It is a really nice and beautiful theater, we all had a great time. Theres parking in the area, but can be expensive, so plan ahead if going here. The lones to the bathrooms can get long, luckily i didnt have to go while there, but my friend did lol but seats are comfortable and theres not really a bad seat in there :-) staff was nice and friendly when we went as well
Old and attractive theatre. Seating not super comfortable. Don't choose mezzanine or balcony if unwilling to climb steep stairs. Toilets a climb down to lowere level.
Beautiful theater. Balcony seats were pretty good angle. Friendly ushers. The only bar that was open was downstairs by the bathroom which wasn't convenient. That was the only downside. Across the street is a great dive bar/irish pub called the tam. Check it out before ur show
Very nice place. The sound is not so good but it is okay and there are some screen with the script if needed at some point. I took the last seats and they were perfect.
Wonderful location for shows. Be careful of balcony seats if you have concerns about stairs. Would recommend leaving plenty of time to get seated as there is often a line out the door before shows start, Lobby isn't too big.
I was very pleased with my experience overall. The staff were lovely and very helpful and the show we saw (Potted Potter) was fantastic. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because there were quite a few tripping hazards around the stairs to get up and down to the Box Seats where I and my mother were sitting without any signs or warnings, causing us bother to roll our ankles multiple times. The chairs in the box seats are also quite unstable and made me feel rather uncomfortable as a bigger girl. Just a few easy fixes and this experience would have been marvelous~
Beautiful theater. Lost a star because the only bathrooms are in the basement. Not fun when you are in the upper balcony.
I took my beautiful Granddaughter to her first ballet here. The experience was awesome..Would have been 5 stars but the theater was so cold we had to wear our coats and hats.. But the performance and theater were exceptionally beautiful
This old theater has a great history, attract lots of great performances and has marvelous facades. It has been updated with lights, sound system and such. The bathroom is an adventure to find. Parking is an adventure too - take the T, look for a deal or bite the bullet. Lots of great memories!
The theater is beautiful very well-preserved the show measure for measure however was horrible the acting was fine but we did not know that it was all done and either Russian or Austrian so to go to a play just to read subtitles on a scrolling Marquee is not my a way of spending my money
Nice enough theatre, but the bathroom situation is a little silly. Why make such a fuss.
I was sitting in the Dress Circle, row 3, and while I am not tall - 5'10" - my legs were not fitting and my knees were pressed against the row in front of me. The first part before the intermission was tolerable, but the second was ruined, even a great performance could not compensate for the pain in the knees. A lady to the right of me had to place her hips diagonally, and jumped on the opportunity to "stretch her legs" once the intermission started. Take it into consideration - maybe the orchestra has more space...
