From the moment we sat down at Old Brea Chop House, the service was incredible — attentive, polished, and genuinely warm without ever feeling overbearing. Every course was perfectly timed, and we truly felt taken care of all evening. We started with the Caesar salad, crisp and fresh with the perfect balance of dressing and parmesan. Paired with the 2021 ISOSCELES Reserve from JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, the meal immediately felt elevated — the wine was bold, smooth, and beautifully layered. The 36oz bone-in prime tomahawk was the star of the night — flawlessly seared on the outside and tender and juicy in every bite. The broccolini had a perfect char, and the potato au gratin was creamy, rich, and packed with flavor — easily some of the best sides we’ve had. We finished with their warm, decadent butter cake (absolutely melt-in-your-mouth) and an espresso martini that is officially my new number one. The ambience truly ties everything together — warm, inviting, and perfect for a special night out. With rich wood tones, soft lighting, and an intimate yet lively energy, it strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish.
Made Valentines reservations 3 weeks prior to the day. Upon arrival, the host staff girls unenthusiastically greeted us while looking me up and down, and then awkwardly checked us in. As someone who previously worked in food service - I hope that they are not typically catty like that to high paying customers or they will miss out on returning customers with that as a first impression. I will not let their attitude dampen this review because the rest of the night was fantastic. Our server Tiffany brightened up our experience - she was super sweet, attentive, and happy to recommend dishes/ drinks. She recited all current specials and popular menu items from memory without missing a beat. She also suggested sides/ cocktail pairings for our entrees. We got a scotch cocktail (don't recall the name) that had Bénédictine liquor in it - it added so much more warmth and dimension to the cocktail. We got the filet mignon, center cut ribeye, roasted brussel sprouts, and lyonnaise potatoes. The steaks were cooked medium rare beautifully with a nice crust on the top and bottom. The side dishes had bursts of flavor going on with each bite between the charring of the vegetables, carmelized onions, rosemary, etc. I forgot that I added "anniversary" to our reservation as our anniversary is only 2 weeks away. The staff brought us out a beautiful little dessert with "Happy Anniversary" etched onto the plate out of what seems to be cocoa powder. A few other staff members checked in on us - asking how the steaks were, and if we needed anything. Between the bread and appetizer, and dinner - staff came and dusted crumbs off the table. The staff boxed our leftovers up in front of us and the owner/ manager came and personally thanked us and wished us a Happy Valentines Day, anniversary, and a beautiful night. It was one of the most memorable dining experiences between the delectable dishes, drinks, and (mostly) delightful staff. Strongly recommend for a special occasion such as an anniversary or milestone birthday for someone you love!
What to start out by giving a big amount of appreciation to Bo, Arianna & Erin. They took care of my family and me today. My wife and I agree that the level of service was above and beyond, and Old Brea Chop House is at the top of our list for future business. The food & drinks were all top-tier, the speed of delivery was perfect as well. We celebrated both our promotions today, and they added a little surprise at the end, which was a fantastic end to the meal.
This was our first visit to Old Brea Chophouse, & it was a goodie!👍 Our besties recommended this place, for a special dinner, in Brea, CA. My partner & I met our friends here, for our 5:30p.m. Dinner Reservation. The host apparently couldn't seat us, at our scheduled time, but it was a short, perhaps 10 to15 minute wait, before we were brought to our table. We took this time, to catch up, with our dear OC friends, whom we hadn't seen in a bit. Our group of 4 got an excellent table, featuring a comfy padded booth, which was perched several steps above a large, central dining space, at Old Brea Chophouse. First thing I noticed about this place, was it was absolutely bustling, with activity. Servers were bringing out beautiful plates of food, all willy nilly, as a completely packed restaurant of folks were enjoying their drinks & fine meals. The din of happy banter filled the room. Myself & my good buddy ordered glasses of a lovely red Paso Cab: Austin Hope. My partner ordered a Dirty Martini, With Beefeater Gin & her bestie ordered a fruity mocktail. Each of us took turns sipping our drinks, between funny stories, that flew from our mouths. We ordered 2 orders of the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp, one for each couple, as appetizers. They were OMG good, with 4 fairly large shrimp, swimming in an incredibly tasty sauce. My taste buds were doing high fives! Service throughout our entire dining experience was excellent. Two servers tag-teamed, managing to be right there, every time we needed them, taking care of our every dining whim. Mains came out, & our table got real quiet, as each of us enjoyed Old Brea Chophouse's bangin' food. My 16oz. Ribeye came out hot, & a perfect Medium Rare. I added Gorgonzola on top of it, for added flavor, but the meat was seasoned so well, it really didn't need the extra. My partner was raving about how tender & buttery her Filet Mignon was, as was my good friend, who ordered the larger portion of this same dish. My buddies' partner really enjoyed her Salmon, as well. We ordered several desserts, to cap this great meal off, & our favorite, by far, was the Butter Cake, which was delivered to our table hot & yummy...so warm & buttery! My compliments to the chefs, & servers at Old Brea Chophouse. We'll definitely be back.
I would give them 10 stars in all categories if I could. We have been coming here for a minute, and every single visit we are blown away by the food, service and atmosphere. From the top down, Tony ensures all guests have a top notch experience. We love Kevin "Drake" and the entire staff team. If you have not been, the scallops are a MUST. Best scallops we have ever had, my husband and I get our own order. Steaks are always perfectly cooked, there are soo many different delicious sides to choose from and they all come out amazing.
Not only did the food stand out but the service was fantastic! For context I am a larger man and when being ushered to my seat the manager who sat us noticed the seat MIGHT be uncomfortable for me and offered a quick change. He was very empathetic and at the end of the meal he even offered us something special. The location, the service, the food…all top notch. Looking forward to going back!
We LOVEEEE the food and service here! It was sooo delicious. We went on a Tuesday night and it was so busy like a Saturday night and now I know why! I loved the drink I had- forgot what it was called but it was reminiscent of a margarita but not. 🤣 We had the rib eye, salmon, Brussel sprouts, potato au gratin, shrimp scampi, and crème brûlée. Everything was so good! We will def be back. The server was so great! A professional server for sure.
Right when you walk in it has a feel of a speakeasy from the 30’s. We were greeted by the proprietor of the establishment Oscar. He had several recommendations and treated me like an old friend. Then we were seated and were entertained by Jason and Tiffany. You must request to be seated in their area. They are truly great people with an even greater spirit. Thank you so much for an amazing evening and by the way; the food was superb. One of the best filets I have ever had. Thank you
Great food, ambience and service! The lunch prix fix (2 salad, 2 sandwich/burger for $45) is a great deal! They initially brought out the wrong burger but quickly replaced it while checking in frequently. They also gave us a free dessert for celebrating our recent wedding ☺️ would definitely come back again From the prix fixe menu we got: 🥗Field greens salad 5/5 🥗Caesar salad 4.5/5 🥪Prime rib sandwich 4.5/5: lot of prime rib and great sandwich but personally just liked the filet mignon sandwich more 🥪Filet mignon sandwich 5/5: steak was super tender and flavorful. Bread was also nicely toasted 🍔Blue cheese burger 4.5/5: thick patty + blue cheese flavor was there. Patty was just a little dry 🍰chocolate cake 5/5: a giant slice that the four of us could barely finish. Super moist and not overly sweet. The free dessert was also delicious
This has to be the FINEST restaurant in the OC! From start to finish, the standards for quality of food, service, specialty drinks and the ambience are 10+++ We enjoyed the Bransino fish along with the 10 oz. Filet Mignon and sautéed spinach, loaded baked potato (Had to do it!), then poke and their scallops crudo is a MUST! Great experience from beginning to end!
Amazing food and incredible service. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We went for dinner for my daughter’s birthday. First I had the most amazing baked potato for dinner. I barely touched my entree, which. Was the Mary’s chicken and it was delish too. It came with roasted potatoes. I can’t wait to go back. The server Jackie recommended the warm butter cake for dessert. Don’t leave without ordering it. It’s life changing. Parking is the only issue. Weekends I could see being a nightmare. It does share parking with quite a few restaurants and the Improv. .
We come here yearly for our wedding anniversary. We love the atmosphere and especially the food. Our favorites are definitely the rib eye which we have to get each visit. This time we tried new dishes which were all delicious, but we especially loved the French onion soup this visit. Their complimentary celebratory dessert was delicious and a great way to end the night. Thank you Old Brea Chop House for being a great place to celebrate our special occasions!
A friend recommended trying the Old Brea Chop House when we were down in Orange County. We called ahead for reservations on a busy Friday night. The restaurant had everything which someone would expect from an upscale steakhouse. The staff were very friendly and our servers gave great food recommendations. The restaurant has a full bar and many different wine options. Old Brea Chop House had a very calming atmosphere even though it was a packed restaurant. A perfect spot to celebrate an important day or go for a date night. Everything we ate was delicious. As one of the sides the server recommended the ricotta gnocchi, which was fantastic. It had a creamy sauce with mushrooms and I can see why it is a restaurant favorite. Honestly we will be going back one day just to have this dish. We noticed a lot of people had the mac & cheese as a side so we tried that also. The meat was perfectly cooked, I had the lamb and my wife had the filet mignon. We had to save room for dessert because the reviews said to try the warm butter cake. I am glad we did because warm butter cake was a fluffy, delicious dessert, paired with ice cream, fruit and a side of whip cream. Old Brea Chop House is a must dine in experience because of the excellent service and savory food. Thank you for a great experience.
In downtown Brea, we hit the Old Brea Chop House and absolutely loved the vibe cozy, stylish, and buzzing with energy. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We treated ourselves to the tomahawk steak, which came with two standout sides: caramelized onions and fries, both delicious. The steak was juicy and top‑quality. It’s so popular spot and you’ll want to reserve ahead.
Went here for a birthday dinner. We ordered the 32oz Tomahawk steak with asparagus with hollandaise sauce and Mac and cheese. The Tomahawk was cooked medium rare plus and it was perfectly done. Not dry, not too salty. Asparagus was soft and Mac and cheese was cheesy. Our meal also came with buttercake. This place didn't disappoint us. It was all worth the price we paid for. Will definitely be coming back. It's highly recommended.
Tried to make a reservation a few times, finally was able to get one last night. First time dining here at Old Brea Chop House. The place is very vibrant, professional servers, great night out atmosphere! They're only two of us so we didn't get to order many dishes, but you must try the the grilled oysters. So delicious! We also shared the pepper steak. Also the strawberry sorbet dessert! Nothing like it! Highly recommend this wonderful place!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here it was really nice. The ambiance was very romantic and warm. The service was great! The staff was very tentative to our needs and came to check up on us very often. We waited for 40 minutes since we didn't have a reservation. It was no issue since we walked around the shopping center. We ordered the gnocchi and sirloin steaks since it was our first time. The gnocchi was delicious it was very creamy and savory! I definitely recommend it. The sirloin steak was good I had it medium rare. I do have to say that the sides are family size so keep that in mind for those who don't eat much. Will definitely come back.
Not bad over all but steak burned on surface. Onion soup was really good, salad all right, sprouts side dish not bad too.
Service was great and the staff were very friendly. The salad with salmon and crab cake were fresh and delicious. The Bone-in Ribeye and Lobster were tasty and well-cooked, and we absolutely loved the Warm Butter Cake—it’s a must-order! Unfortunately, the Bone-in Filet was a letdown. The plate presentation looked a bit funny and the plate itself didn't look clean, which was especially noticeable under the camera. Additionally, despite ordering it medium-plus, the meat was still quite raw near the bone. While the vibes and service were excellent, the inconsistent cooking on the steaks was disappointing.
The only thing that's stopping me from rating it a full 5 stars is just the atmosphere. Maybe I'm just being too critical about the Brea crowd and just the area itself but I just feel like it could have a different vibe. However what's 5 out of 5 always is the food. Although very very expensive it is really worth it. I am typically disappointed of a place that says that there is a steakhouse however this is the spot that does steak how you want it cooked. The lobster mashed potatoes this time was insanely rich, creamy, and delicious. Love coming here for a treat and celebration!
