Everything was amazing, from the service to the food. It was a little pricier than most places, but absolutely worth it. I would recommend the pulled pork, brisket, pork ribs, potato salad, Tater tor casserole, and the corn pudding.

If you’re in Brenham or just passing through, do not miss this place. We had brisket, turkey, pork ribs and sides. The price is just right for the 3 of us. I personally love the turkey. Moist and so tasty! Overall we had a wonderful experience!

Phenomenal brisket. So tender and moist. And the sausage was top notch. There is a good reason why this place is on the Texas Monthly BBQ 2017 Top 10 list.

Outstanding ribs, brisket, potato salad, hash brown casarole... great food! Very small place. You've got to watch carefully or you'll blow right by it!

Top 3 BBQ joints in Texas! Go with a group and order the Texas Trinity. My favorite side was the corn pudding. Save room for dessert and order a couple cake by the slice.

R
Ransom Fertitta

The people were so kind and the barbecue is the best in the world. I’m not joking or exaggerating whatsoever. Get the ribs. They’re sweet but not too sweet. Everything is so flipping good.

J
James Hsu

Six of us enjoyed the Trinity and the extra brisket. The meat is very tender and the side dishes are also top notch! So satisfying.

Hands down the best brisket I ever had. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Words don't/ can't adequately express and describe the heavenly food at Truth. "True" Texas BBQ at its finest. I had pork ribs, brisket, and jalapeño cheddar sausage. The sides are worth the trip. Lol. Love these out of the way places that maintain that family customer contact and provide the quality food. If you're close by you have to stop. You'll be happy.

Excellent Pulled pork sandwich. Mac n cheese is good too. The pumpkin Spice cake slice was big enough for 2 people. Price was good too. Get there early as they have limited quantities of food.

Awesome BBQ, we had a little bit of everything, sliced brisket, pork ribs, garlic sausage, pulled pork. It was so tender and the smoke flavor of the meat was perfect that you didn't need BBQ sauce! The sides were great including the corn pudding, tater tot casserole, potato salad, and mac and cheese!! Great place to stop and eat some of Texas' best bbq. Don't forget to tip and grab you a free lone star beer!!

I've heard a lot about this place from friends and BBQ aficionados. It met and exceeded all expectations. The marbled brisket melts away in your mouth. Just the right amount of heat on the sausage. The pulled pork is the best I've ever had. I went with collards, mac-n-cheese and potato salad for my sides. The greens were the star for sure. Also tried a friends corn pudding. It was great. We were there at 9:30 a.m. and were third in line. Water and free beer is available while you wait. Had a lot of fun visiting with other patrons. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I can't wait to visit again.

My husband and I have heard nothing but good things about this place. We headed to Austin for the weekend and passed it by on the way so decided to check it out on the way back home. I'm so glad we did! There was a small line but the service is quick. They get you in and out in no time. AND you can even grab a free beer while you wait in line which definitely won us over obviously (please tip though because that's the right thing to do!). We got the Texas Trinity to bring some back to Houston with us and we thought it would last us a couple of days. But it didn't. It was too good for us to save any! Definitely the best way to end such a good weekend/road trip!

Came today for lunch while on work assignment in Brenham. The BBQ was amazing! Brisket was tops and melt in your mouth. Pork ribs were also spectacular. They have a new item which is a jalapeño stuffed with brisket. Highly reccomend. Be sure and try the tater tot casserole 😀

Made a rookie mistake to visit at 2:30 pm on a Sunday :) They just had brisket left and yes, it was worth the stop! Succulant brisket, over buns, little bit of pickled onions and pickles, dash of their mustard bbq sauce and yummm!

J
Jon Lanclos

Why is there a line out front? duh - this place is legit - try the sampler and get a small order of every one of their sides because they’re so good - try the mustard bbq sauce they make. You will end up buying a bottle to take home - all of the sides are amazing - my favorite are the tatortot casserole and the corn pudding

C

This is amazing BBQ! I came early in the morning during the week. Unfortunately Beef Ribs are just Saturday I was told. And there weren't any brownies available yet. But everything I ate was amazing! I got the pork ribs with two sides: corn pudding and tatertot casserole. I highly recommend the corn pudding. The meat was falling off the bone. You have to come early before they open as this is a popular place for BBQ. Also there are lots of cake choices for dessert. And banana pudding. I got the triple chocolate cake. Their desserts are impressive. There were two tables inside. And more seating outside. I look forward to coming here again!

Wow!! The best Bbq I’ve had - Everything and I mean everything was excellent Ribs, Turkey Brisket and pulled pork . Mac and Cheese the way I like - an Out of World Tatortot casserole.

J

Go here! They have limited hours so make sure you get there! Best ribs I've EVER had. I'm hungry thinking about them. Get some of their sauces to use on your own! They're amazing!

J

This is for the location in Brenham. If you are looking for really, really good barbecue and sides - this is the place. There's only seating inside for about 8, but there are lots of tables outside.

Some of the best bbq that we've had in Texas and ever. The pork ribs BLEW our minds!! One bit, and it melted like butter, fall off the bone DELICIOUS! The brisket, turkey, and jalapeño sausage were AMAZING! The mac was a hit, and so were the collard greens. Overall, it's the best bbq we've had. Definitely suggest going if you're in the area or traveling by like we did.

You can’t go wrong with Truth! All the food is great and its service with a smile! The boudin sausage is the sleeper on the menu that you gotta try! It’s our go-to bbq spot on trips through Texas.

This is Texas Barbecue! The Chopped brisket sandwich is huge and served on a delicious bun. The #brisket is about 3 iches thick? The mac & cheese is home made and so is the cole slaw. The beans are well seasoned. The sliced sausage is seasoned very well. It is the best #BBQ place in Washington country, hands down. It is literally a hole in the wall, tin roof road side shack. Do not drive too fast you will miss is. It is near #Berlin Texas. I rarely give 5 stars. The price is a wee bit high but..the serving was huge. #homemade. The issue was the bathroom. It was not nice.

If you are serious about BBQ, you must check out the best in this part of Texas. Be ready for long lines but the wait is worth it! Clean facilities, friendly staff and plenty of outdoor seating.

Delicious! Meats are moist & full of flavor. Doesn't need sauce but omg...that's amazing too! MUST add the tatertot casserole & corn pudding as sides too! Friendly & clean. You won't be disappointed!

Great food, I had the chopped bbq sandwich and I loved it, cole slaw was good too, my husband got the jalapeño cheddar sausage I loved it, atmosphere was really nice, we sat outside and the music was nice country music, definitely good place

Austinite here. I’ve eaten plenty of good bbq. Had the brisket and sausage. Really tender brisket. Corn casserole stole the show. Glad we went on the way to College Station. Line out front tells you it’s good. Worth the drive to Brenham

Been here twice now in the past month, both times on Saturday mornings. Great BBQ, terrific sides (esp the tater tot casserole and corn pudding), and the desserts (all made by the pitmaster's mom) are to die for. I arrived around 9:30am each time (opens at 11), and I was first or second in line each time. By the time Truth opened its doors, there were at least 50 others behind me in line. Yesterday on my most recent trip, I got back home 80 miles away to find a couple side items missing from my order. I was bummed out! I called to try to get credit, and Corey, the general manager, could not have been more helpful. I know they were super busy at the time, but he was able to apply the credit to my card in no time (and had even promised to mail me a gift card had he been unable to do so). Even when they make a mistake, Truth does things right. 👍

Man man man was this joint good! 3 hour roadtrip and worth every minute. We went as part of the Top 50 Texas Monthly tour and Truth was one of my top 3 favorites. The brisket is simply amazing! I ordered a moist cut with bark and it it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also ordered turkey which was some of the best turkey I've ever ordered as was the sausage and ribs. The bbq here is fantastic and worth the drive from where ever you are coming from. Oh, the chocolate cake. How could I forget. My wife ordered a slice(huge) slice of chocolate cake and hands down the best cake I have ever had. Do not miss out on dessert. It's a must, even if you take it to go.

Great Country BBQ. Hit this one for sure. I drove past it for years at night after they were sold out. Had my chance last month, and I took it! I'm so glad I did. I tried the brisket, pulled pork, and turkey. Beans and cole slaw were my sides. The pickles are perfection. I liked it all. The price per pound seems steep but comparable to good, family run BBQ businesses. Even though they expanded to big city locations, this Brenham treat is the real deal.

I haven’t had GOOD BBQ in a while! Fatty brisket was amazing! Jalapeno cheddar sausage was delicious and so were the ribs! Get the tatortot casserole as a side, you won’t regret it!!!

We were visiting Berlin and this place showed up on the map. Happened to be there 10 min prior to open and saw a short line. If there's a line it must be good! There were about 6-8 people in front of us, by the time we sit down with our food it was 11.30 so a good 40 minutes wait total but the food was worth it. Corn pudding, brisket, sausage and ribs were very good. The burnt ends are on the sweet side but not bad at all.

A
Amanda Centofanti

Amazing!!!! Got the beef brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich- the pulled pork was great but I was so blown away by the brisket it made it hard to compare. Mac and cheese with bacon was amazing, and loved the pickled veggies and pickles that came with the sandwich . A+ all around! Nice outdoor patio area as well, was good for us with our dog!

By far the best home cooking I ever had in my life. Truly amazing. The collards were melt-in your mouth perfect. So much love in everything. No need for salt or pepper. The brisket melted in my mouth and was very juicy. Brisket is my favorite. Corn pudding, Mac and cheese all flavored naturally. You will not be disappointed it's like good homemade southern cooking. I think the bread was homemade also. It sure tasted like it. They have three layered homemade cake. We got the carrot cake to go. Haven't eaten it yet. Will dig in when we get to Houston at the Hotel. You want to take desert with you for latter or you will wonder what it would have tasted like. We are some of the meat already. But this is a three meat platter. You pick the type of barbecue you want. There are many options. Stuffed baked potato with brisket. Yum!

The BBQ was excellent. We had the chopped beef and it was crazy good. The pickels put it over the top. They sell out early so get there as early as possible

This is where I ate one of my favorite Texas meals. First of all, we went on a Saturday for lunch and did not wait long at all. Maybe 20 minutes and they had a tent up for shade. All the outdoor seating has shade as well. And a free water station. Second, my husband and I spent about $30 total I think, and we had leftovers for dinner! I feel like I robbed the place it was such a good deal. Employees were friendly and the food was incredible. I would just advise you to find somewhere else if you need a bathroom, this one was questionable. Still worth it.

F

I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and two sides. The two sides were macaroni and cheese and tatertot casserole. Dessert was a chocolate cake. Everything was delicious.

Incredible BBQ Just an hour drive from Houston. When I went I ordered a pound of fatty brisket, a 2 pound beef rib, 4 spare ribs, 4 sausages, 2 sides of beans, pickles, El Jefe sandwich, a coca cola and a big red. The food was phenomenal fatty brisket just melts in your mouth, beef rib shreds like pot roast, spare ribs have a thin layer of sauce on then. The El Jefe sandwich was awesome as well I can not say enough good things about Truth BBQ.

The wait is long, but it is 100% worth it! We picked Truth at random as we were traveling along 290, and when we got there and saw the wait we second guessed our choice. People in line told us this was actually a short wait and that we would not regret it. They were right! I don't normally care much for brisket, but theirs was tender, moist, and flavorful without tasting fatty. The sides were also delicious. We tried the collards, corn pudding, and hash brown casserole, all of which I would recommend. My picky kids had the mac and cheese, which you can order with or without bacon on top. We wrapped up our meal with a slice of cake so big we all shared it and then brought home leftovers. The cake was perfection -- rich and delicious but not overwhelming. We got the birthday cake because kids couldn't resist the sprinkles, but all the flavors looked amazing. The other choices that day were coconut, red velvet, and banana caramel. The staff at Truth were helpful and friendly. They were working as fast as they could to get through the long line, but they still took good care of us. There are three tables inside and then more in a shaded area outdoors. Most people seemed to be getting their food to go, so we were easily able to eat inside on a hot day.

J
John West

I thoroughly enjoyed both the brisket and turkey. The brisket was really good as was the turkey. I often find turkey to be too dry, but not this turkey. I also had beans and potato salad for my sides. They were also very tasty. I know wonder why I haven’t come here sooner. Be sure to stop at Truth BBQ. You’ll be glad you did.

here is what you need to know about this location before coming here: free beer to get the guys who then bring their wives who then bring their families which is actually quite brilliant Your course have to drink the beer while waiting or on site not off premises they have one restroom but thankfully clean but tiny so just keep that in mind that this is not necessarily a place to come to for a pit stop and parking is somewhat limited you'll have to park around the building so not very handy cap accessible either unless you can get parking at the front which is very limited but from there plenty of outdoor tables to eat at and then two tables to eat at inside if you can get them To my surprise to have the original sugarcane Dublin Dr pepper Big Red and root beer with no high fructose corn syrup! in the glass including as well Mexican Coke! also the pickled onion and pickles were phenomenal which they serve with just about any order we made it on our way back from Houston to Austin just in time before they ran out of barbecue today so keep in mind even if this place is open they can run out of meat My mom and I shared brisket which was phenomenal not to moist not too hard not too soft not too rough not too much fat well balanced smokey charcoal kind of texture to it but you could tell was definitely marinated and done And they Texas old school kind of fashion which is my kind of beef hit the spot as the brisket came out tender which is exactly how I like it being a born and raised Texas :-D also they had pork options different kind of special jalapeno links and apparently a combination of sides of macaroni and cheese coleslaw coriander greens tater tot combination and some kind of okra but I think is fried as for the barbecue sauce that would be my only plane and I tried to barbecue sauce it was definitely not to my liking thankfully they have a mustard sauce that was much more appeasing to me and my mom and went perfectly with the pickles and pickled onion which were a huge fan of with our beef! also the customer service here was top-notch the two Hispanic gentlemen made us feel like family even called me boss twice and many times with the smile and passion that's hard to find had attention to customer service :) if you're ever out these parts this is the barbecue place to find a way to navigate traffic to find parking to get to that's worth it

Amazing place! The people are super nice and the food! Wow! No wonder they are on the top of Texas BBQs! You can see the smokers and the meet right there as you order! Loved it!

What a treasure right off of 290 in Brenham, TX! Cold beer or water while you wait, friendly staff, great service, THAT BBQ THO😋! We chose 3 meat combo (pork ribs, brisket, & jalapeño cheddar sausage). All three delicious. Pork ribs were my favorite (best I’ve ever had)! We also tried the tater tot casserole & mac n cheese! Both were extremely tasty! Will be back for sure!

R
Rose Hinojosa

What a treat to go to the original location! I have been to the spot in the heights a few times and it’s a must go to — but being at the original location was too special. It’s a smaller spot but it feels like home and the food still slaps. We dropped by after checking out the blue bell creamery and milk honey ranch and it was a true experience. I always order extra sides cuz I can’t get enough — you HAVE to get the tater tot casserole, corn pudding and baked beans — the potato salad and Brussels are also so so so good. As far as meat, get a little bit of everything it’s worth it. Oh and the carrot cake is the LITERAL best carrot cake of all time. Seriously — go hungry and take home leftovers or seconds.

C
Carlton Epps

We ordered ribs, pulled pork, collards, corn casserole and hash brown casserole. All the food was 10 out of 10. Will be back with some BBQ snobs.

O
Ormand Deen

We just got there before they ran out of brisket! The gentleman at the counter was kind enough to give me 2 meat servings rather than 1 as they were about to run out. Exceptional brisket and sauce, excellent onions and good bread and creamy corn. Not a fan of the potato salad - it will make neither mustard or mayonnaise devotees happy. Definitely could use a bug zapper to get rid of the flies indoors as they were distracting us from enjoying our meal. They ran out of mac and cheese but I am told it is excellent...I'll try it next time for sure!

R
R. Dino Talamo

There's a reason this place is in the top 5 BBQ joints in TX! Not enough descriptive words to explain how fantastic the BBQ tasted here! Expect a line. We arrived 30 minutes before opening and were already 30 people deep. Free ice cold beer to those in line! The best part about the BBQ here is its perfect amount of seasoning. You can still taste the individual meat that you are eating and not just rub or sauce. Best brisket I've ever put in my mouth. Ribs were large and just enough tug on the bone. Sides were plentiful and tasty. The homemade cakes here rival any standalone bakery, huge slices and huge flavor! Make the trip here!

S
Scott LaRoche

Very good, pricey and you will face a long waiting line unless you get there 30-45 minutes before opening. Keep in mind you will be standing outside for about an hour during the lunch rush and you will be eating outside. Is it worth it? I can't say. It was very good, particularly the brisket, which was so good we were relishing the fat. Is it worth the drive and standing in line for an hour? That's your call.

C

Brisket was moist and flavorful. Turkey breast was spectacular. Portions were generous. Service was friendly and efficient (considering social distancing requirements). All around great BBQ joint!

J
J.C. Clements

Great Craft BBQ! After some time between visits I have to say this is still some of the best brisket around. Ribs on point, and that spicy pepper jack cheese sausage, amazing! I got the tater tot casserole and the corn pudding both of which were tasty also. Glad I stopped by ony way through Brenham!

T

No wonder this place is on lists for greatest BBQ in Texas!! I live in Richmond and it was definitely worth the short drive! We went on a Saturday and got there at about 10 and there was literally no line. The line never really got longer than maybe 20 people the entire time for the couple hours we were there. As many people have already mentioned, they have free Lone Star beer and bottled water for you while you wait. Tips greatly appreciated 👍🏻

M
Monica Ro

One of my favorite bbq spots. I love making the drive out here and then stopping by Bluebell for ice cream with the kids. The location is right off a main hwy, seating is all outside and is limited, but there’s lots of grassy area you could easily bring a blanket and eat picnic style. They do run out of bbq later in the day, so if you are traveling far, keep that in mind and give them a call or go early enough. The brisket, macaroni and beans are amazing. Beans are not spicy, but are flavorful. They do have fountain drinks and bottled waters. It’s also byob, so you could bring your own drinks/beer.

Beat the line, get there on time, open until sold out. You will not be disappointed by their well cooked and delicious BBQ and sides. Don't forget the awesome homemade condiments (pickels and peppers are top notch). Also suggest getting a bottle of their golden sauce, a surprisingly good mustard sauce for Texas!

So this place was referred to me by a friend in North East Texas who owns Wright On BBQ in Harleton. We moved to Brenham in May and let me say I am now kicking my self I. The butt for not eating her sooner. My wife and I got the three meat plate and brisket boudin. Our sides were Mac and cheese and tatter-tot casserole. The brisket, pulled pork, and turkey was amazing. All super tender, moist, the smoke taste and smell was on point but not overwhelming. ( not that dry " Washington county BBQ " the locals rave over. ) The side where large and the portions of the meat was pretty healthy. Also, while waiting in line there is free beer, just throw in money to the tip jar. We will be backk!! Loved the outdoor environment!

S

Top brisket location in Texas alongside Franklin’s, Louie Mueller and 2M Smokehouse! Amazingly friendly staff. Little inside with two tables. Huge cake slices. Baked potato heaven. Only 1.5 hour east drive from ATX. Leonard is front and center slicing that juicy fatty brisket! Loved this BBQ joint and will Dave to all co-workers about it. Limited parking, but patrons make due and use every available inch of street. Highly recommended! Beef ribs are Saturday only. We arrived at 8:30am on Sunday and were easily the first ones. Everyone started showing up close to 10am. Doors open at 11. Free beer (LoneStar) and water while you wait.

Originally i had given 3 stars : Boudin was super salty and the pulled pork was extremely dry , the brisket saved the day , sides are always good Edit : came back and got 3 meat plate and the bbq was top tier, the brisket ,pork ribs and turkey did not disappoint, some of the best I ever tasted

D

Went out to try the O.G. location. So impressed with their brisket and boudin sausage. We ordered the Texas Trinity with a bunch of sides. The tater tot casserole and corn pudding are where it’s at. Can’t wait to go back.

Thank you for the best collard greens! All the food was great but those collard greens are phenomenal! Minimal indoor seating but lots of outdoor seating. The service was very friendly! I can’t wait to go back!

Seriously my favourite bbq *in the universe* 💙💙 Its incomparably good!! Truth pork ribs are THE BEST bite of smoked beastie EVER - honestly my favourite bite in the whole wide world of bbq - and brisket and turkey are fantastic as well. It's that friggin' baby-head-size smoked POTATO 😍😍 that totally seals the deal for me though...loaded down with toppings and weighing in at roughly 37 pounds and SO. DANG. GOOOOD!! (Oh yeah... and the corn pudding!! 😍 Annnnnd the cakes that are just as gorgeous as they are deeeeeelicious!! 😍😍) Oh oh oh and BYOB, or free peasant beer! I just can't say enough good things about Truth, no lie 💙

A very busy place but worth for waiting. Came in Sunday Morning and waited almost an hour. In general, bbq was good but not special. However, ribs were amazing and they have many good side dishes. Free beer while waiting is a plus point and makes everyone happy.

I was really impressed with their meats and sides. The pork ribs and sausage are standouts among a complete lineup of excellent bbq. Corn pudding and potato salad are also superb!

J

Texas Barbecue doesn’t get any better than this. I’ve tried Killeen’s, Corkscrew, The Pit Room and more and Truth BBQ is up there with the best. Masterful cookery, spices, and overall flavor. The sides matched the meat in quality, they simply didn’t cut corners on anything they served. Our only regret was not knowing how much the beef rib cost before we added it to our plates - but it was still delicious, just not worth $31/lb. Overall, an incredible BBQ experience!

A

Truth is the best Barbeque in Brenham by a landslide and one of the best in Texas!!!!! Delicious and moist meats. Great rubs, not laden with salt like some other joints. Smoke flavor just right. Good bark on the Brisket. Pulled Pork and Pork Rib Heaven! The sides are all other worldly! Truth hits a Grand Slam on the Holy Four--Beans, Cole Slaw. Collards, and Potato Salad. Super Three-Layer Cakes for dessert. Now selling bottled Sauces, Pickles, and Escabeche. The staff is Texas and Brenham-friendly. The must-go-to spot for Barbeque in Brenham.

Pit Master Leonard Botello really makes this place special. We’ve been there twice (from HTX), and been welcomed like you’d expect in a small town restaurant. Come early but the line moves quick. The people are friendly and the food is superb. Their brisket doesn’t miss. Beef rib Saturdays are 100% worth your time. Can’t recommend the tater tot hot dish, corn pudding and Brussels sprouts enough. Mac-n-cheese is rich and gooey. Secondary - but still better than most, recommend the turkey, brisket boudin, and sausages generally. For groups, ask for ‘the trinity’ and you can’t go wrong. 3 lbs of meat, plus 4x pints of sides and you’re set. The original joint still stands, and the outdoor seating is great (most days). Don’t be afraid to park out back if the lot is full - the line really does move.

J
Jim Palmer

Wow, the original location is so much better than the downtown Houston restaurant. Its worth the drive up to Brenham. The ribs were truely some of the best i have tasted in Texas. They were out of the Brisket and pulled pork. i will have to come back and try again.

Had The pleasure of enjoying Truth Barbecue in Brenham Texas today! It was an excellent experience and Meal. The brisket was amazing and I would rank it in my top three. The sausage was outstanding as well. We also had pork spareribs which were great, but definitely not the best I’ve ever had. They did, however, I have some of the best side items I’ve ever had any barbecue joint. We had mac & cheese, cornbread pudding, pinto beans, and tater tot casserole. Overall, an excellent experience

K

This place has been on my list for a while and it did not disappoint. Overall, excellent BBQ and sides! I'll be back. We had brisket, ribs, and jalapeño cheddar sausage. For sides, we had corn pudding, potato salad, and brussel sprouts. The brisket and ribs were very tender and flavorful. Both had great smokiness and a nice bark. The sausage had a good flavor, but it didn't wow me so I'd probably just get brisket and ribs next time. We loved all the sides we got. The corn pudding was probably our favorite. The brussel sprouts and potato salad were also great. We would eat all those sides again. We arrived about 10:10 on a Saturday and were the first ones there. The next people showed up about 10 minutes later. They opened a few minutes early. We left about 11:30 and the line was not too long and was moving steady.

Had been hearing about this spot on social media so we had to try it. The workers were extremely friendly. The food was great. I loved the sauces, especially the mustard one. we enjoyed it so much we’ll be stopping again before we head out of town

Hands down the best ribs I've ever eaten. Bbq sandwich was amazing too but close to other great places like corkscrew and killens. A bit on the pricey side but worth it. Smaller on the inside too so try and go on a nice day to eat outside.

It's by the roadside. Very easy to spot. The pulled pork, pork ribs, turkey are absolutely delicious.... Sausage.. umm...is also a plus. Inside can only have no more than 15 people including ordering. Only 2 tables inside. Plenty of seats outdoors. I can see everyone including the other customers enjoyed the delicious food with maximum satisfaction.... Recommended!

WOW! Walked in and there was no line and the place had 2 tables inside. One was available. Thinking what did I get myself into. Well…I’ll tell ya. Some of the best damn BBQ I’ve ever had. Ordered the Trinity for 5 people and still took food home. The Brussels are otherworldly good. Brisket was tender, ribs were good size and just the right amount of tug. The in-house made sausage was delicious. Owner was gracious with his time and story and I got a tour of the smoke shack. Not as impressive as Snow’s but the BBQ was just as good. Definitely worth the 3 hour round trip from Austin. Great job, guys!!

This is our favorite barbecue so far! We came here June 14th, 2025. Everything on our plate was amazing. The ribs were our absolute favorite 😍 Look at that brisket! Perfect 👌 Thanks! Cerissa & Holiday 💚

The BBQ is amazing.. The brisket is cooked to perfection. It's so tender it just melts in your mouth. All the sides are totally homemade from scratch. So flavorful and unique. It's alittle pricey but you really get what you pay for. You also have to get there as soon as the open. The lines gets pretty long. It's first come first serve once they're out they close shop. Trust me they run out pretty quickly!!!!

Line started to form around 10:30. By 11:00, the line was fairly long. Ordering is efficient and friendly. There is limited seating inside and many tables are set up outside, all under shelter or a table umbrella. The pork ribs were the star of the show today. They were the best ribs I've ever had. The sides were delicious too. The mac and cheese was creamy, plump, and even had cooked parts of the cheesy top layer. The tater tot casserole was surprisingly good. The potato salad tasted like a loaded baked potato. And the corn pudding was very flavorful. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I'll be back for more.

Awesome pit stop on our road trip! Parking was a bit dicey and there was probably a 15 minute wait for food (outside) but we'll worth it! Everything was delicious and juicy, fairly priced as well. Definitely stop in next time you're between Austin/Houston

Perfect brisket. Best we’ve had all year. There’s no better brisket in Texas - bet me. The Heights location is in our backyard and I wouldn’t go to it. I would rather drive to Brenham anytime they’re open. Delicious sides - Mac was cheesy, corn pudding was creamy. Sides and meat had good seasoning and flavor. Healthy dark smoke on brisket without being bitter. Very dark bark beautifully smoked. Fat well rendered. Even salt distribution throughout the meat. On top of it, I loved that the guys were talkative and jovial. Great music playing. Perfect weather to eat outside. We might go back today.

We stopped in for brisket and ordered the brisket sandwiches, a side of potato salad and the mac and cheese. We wanted to try the corn pudding but it was sold out as were other items. The brisket was flavorful and delicious, tender and lean with burned ends. This is the best brisket we have ever eaten. The sides were also really good. The prices were reasonable and not too long of a wait. Highly recommend.

Have read about this place for years and finally got the chance to stop by and try it. Ordered a two meat plate of brisket and regular sausage to go with tater tot casserole and corn casserole as the sides. Also got a very generous slice of carrot cake. Once home, I divided it all in two as there was plenty enough to do so to make two meals. I'll start by saying that the brisket was probably the best that I have ever had! It was so tender and nearly melted in my mouth. The flavor was perfect. The sausage was delicious as well. I had read before that both casseroles were a must have menu item and I have to agree. They were delicious! And finally, the carrot cake was as good as any I have ever had. If you have never stopped by Truth BBQ or drove by thinking the line wasn't worth the wait, you would be wrong. The line moved quicker than I thought and it was so worth the wait!

Truth BBQ is Michelin bib-gourmand recognized. I was soo happy to see it very close to Blue bell ice cream so I made the visit, it’s small cozy has some tables to sit down. The owner’s father was in the front he was the most friendly person you can encounter in the store he genuinely cares about his customers he was welcoming making sure everyone was happy. Everyone else we’re also welcoming and happy to help. Unlike other bbqs the menu is limited which is understood as it’s out of no where, the brisket was tender and spot on. The Brussels sprouts need their own recognition. Overall I would recommend anyone who cannot make it to there original location to atleast try this.

Amazing bbq and service at a good price! The bbq sauces, pickles&onions, Mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, sausage, ribs, and brisket were all delicious. We even got a free beer! We didn’t have to wait at all on a Sunday at 12:30, although we have driven by it before when there was a line out the door! It would be worth the wait though for sure! Best bbq in town!

The epitome of Texas bbq and small town charm. Their ribs and brisket are some of the best that I’ve ever had. The brussels sprouts are worthy of their title of being world famous since they almost melt in your mouth with the perfectly blended candied sweet and salty flavors. The mac and cheese was also very tasty. The people who worked there were also very friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there. Will be stopping by here when I travel from Austin to Houston.

Truth BBQ in Brenham is Texas barbecue done right. We tried everything—brisket, ribs, sausage, and all the sides—and every bite delivered. The brisket was tender with that perfect smoky bark, ribs were fall-off-the-bone good, and the sausage had the right kick. The tater tot casserole and Brussels sprouts were flavorful standouts, but the banana pudding? Hands-down one of the best we’ve ever had—rich, creamy, and nostalgic in all the right ways. Great food, great folks, and absolutely worth the drive. 🐂🔥🍌🍰

I absolutely loved everything I ate here, but I can't stress enough how amazing their brussel sprouts and brisket were. Unforgettable. However, I would pass on the boudin and sausage the second time should I come again. I didn't get to try their carrot cake which I completely regret. I couldn't get enough of their corn pudding, but not as much as their brussel sprouts. Interesting blend of sweet and tangy. I had one problem, sadly, they had no room inside and it was wet and very cold outside.

We went to several “must-have” BBQ spots in Austin, but on the way back to Houston we stopped here. By far the best! Very clean bathroom with warm water, soap and paper towels. And for the cherry on top? Free beer. It should be the only BBQ you eat day after day whilst visiting Austin. We unfortunately were only stopping for a snack because we had had breakfast, but it was lunch-timeish. We wished we ate more. We went with the recommended Brussels sprouts, tater tot casserole and the brisket.

Truth BBQ is the real deal! One of the best Texas BBQ restaurants I’ve ever had was here. We had two 2 meat plates and it fed my family of 4 easily. The brisket was the highlight, super juicy and tender. All the meats were moist and surprisingly was the turkey breast. Ribs were generously seasoned and fell off the bone! The jalapeño cheese sausage had a great snap to it and was perfectly flavored and not too salty. Out of the mac & cheese, tater tot casserole and potato salad, the latter was the best. We came early (11:30am) before the rush so a short wait. There was plenty of outdoor seating with shade and free beer on ice! Great friendly service! We’ll be back on every roadtrip from Houston to Austin for now on!

Great pulled pork and brisket. Side dishes were also good. I was not a fan of the BBQ sauce as it was a bit too heavy on the vinegar for me.

J
Jeffery McCullen

Good brisket, good turkey, good ribs. Sides were not great. Not sure how the brussel sprouts are “famous”. Maybe they had an off day? Nothing that I would make the trip back out here for.

So the "Truth" for me is the slice brisket sandwich was good. I would suggest a larger bun though. You can still supply the same amount of meat but for $15 the bun needs to be the size of a Whataburger. Also some plain potato chips or Jalapeno maybe. The voodoo was all that was on the carousel and did not go well for my taste buds anyway. I'll definitely go back as I've been trying to get there during business hours. Of course they were already out of what I wanted, the jalapeno cheese sausage!! I should have stayed and had a free beer but had to run.

Great food. Line out the door on Sunday. Free Lone Stars with your meal too! What's there to complain about? The tater tot casserole was bomb 💣 and the pork rib meat was falling from the bone. Turkey was melt in your mouth. Great flavors! Will return on my next outing to Brenham.

The roadside location and atmosphere was very Texan BBQ in a way. The sliced brisket was a little dry for my taste. The House Sausage was okay and the pork ribs were solid. The tater tot casserole was excellent as were the pinto beans. Potato salad was mayo based versus mustard so, not really to my taste but it was still pretty good.

We waited for half an hour on a Saturday. There was free beer while waiting. There was no sausage and half of the sides left. We had brisket, was good, turkey good too and pulled pork that was awesome. As a side we ordered Brussels sprouts (because there was no sides left) and we loved them! On each table you have two sauces, the red one a little bit acid and the yellow one really good. There are two tables inside and several tables outside, really close to the road.

Finally got to try truth BBQ on our trip to Houston recently. We came Saturday, December 14, 2024 a little after lunch and it was a little rainy outside, very limited parking but they do have street parking in the back which I recommend because if you follow the road, it is very easy to get out as that is a very busy road Truth sits on. Luckily, we were able to get right in the door and there was nobody in line in front of us. The older gentleman working there made our time and ordering enjoyable and was very friendly. I ordered moist brisket, spare ribs, Brisket Boudin, sausage, turkey breast, tater tot casserole, brussels sprouts, potato salad, and pinto beans and it comes with Martin’s bread (I think) and some pickled onions and pickles. Self serve drinks and they even offer free alcohol to those over 21. They were out of mac & cheese, but they had everything else still available. They have outdoor seating and a tiny bit of indoor seating. The most brisket was absolutely delicious and it was everything you want it to be. The turkey was moist and flavorful. The brussels sprouts were absolutely delicious. I’ve had similar before and this was the best I’ve tried. The tater tot casserole is an absolute banger and a must try. I also thought the pinto beans were flavorful and cooked to perfection. I gave my total visit a four out of five because of the following reasons. Brisket Boudin sausage was good, but it’s not a sausage. It just falls apart and it was very difficult to eat, and I just thought there was a better way they could have served this to me than inside a sausage casing. The pork spareribs had a very noticeable and strong, dirty smoke flavor that I was very surprised by being a Texas top 50 restaurant. The potato salad lacked flavor so much so that I questioned if they tasted their food at all. I found both barbecue sauces to not be very good in my opinion, and my partner believed that one of them was actually rancid. Their outdoor seating was nice, it was wet, but that’s not their fault. There was an abundance of flies at the time so much so that their trash cans were overflowing with flies. they have baskets they keep their barbecue sauce in in the baskets had dried up barbecue sauce on the bottom of them. Also, I tried to use their bathroom twice and it was locked. Maybe there was somebody in there but it’s an exterior entrance so I thought maybe they needed a key but I did not see any postage on what the requirements were to use the bathroom. I collect hats from every barbecue place I go to and I thought a $30 price tag for a hat was quite high for one that turns out to be relatively low-quality compared to the other barbecue restaurants, I’ve purchased much higher-quality hats at for around the same price. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and it was not a bad experience, but as such a high ranking in the Texas top 50, I was surprised by the experience.

My husband and I visited Truth BBQ in Brenham, Texas on Super Bowl Sunday. We had heard rave reviews about Truth, and have been dying to try it ever since we moved to Texas a couple months ago. We arrived about 10:45am (they open at 11:00am) and there were only four people ahead of us in line. We ordered for takeout a half chicken, one link of spicy pepper jack sausage, 2 pounds of turkey, 2 pounds of pork ribs and a pound of brisket. For sides we had mac and cheese, tater tot casserole, corn pudding, and collards. Everything was amazing!!! My husband loves ribs so he pretty much ate all of those by himself. The sausage was wonderfully spiced! All the sides were wonderful, but my favorite was the corn pudding. A must try for “True”Texas barbecue!!

My girlfriend and I went here after the Blue Bell fun run. We waited an hour in line but we didn’t mind. This place is just really busy. The atmosphere is nice. The inside has a couple of areas to sit down and eat but the majority of the seating is outside where you can find a seat at any of their spacious tables. As for the food, we were disappointed. The brisket had nice flavor but it was dry. The pork ribs were moist and had a nice flavor. The cornbread, like the brisket, had great flavor, but was very dry. The Mac n cheese was nice. The pinto beans were about average. Lastly, we tried the banana pudding. Pretty good! It’s like this place has great food but is maybe inconsistent in the quality? It’s worth coming here if the line isn’t long.

Maybe the problem is that I went to the Houston location first. Food wise quality is a lot better in Houston. Waiting and parking is a lot easier in this location, and the vibe is great. Price is as expensive as the one in Houston.

Brisket was a bit salty and dry. Had to definitely add bbq sauce. Jalapeño and Cheese Sausage was on point. Mac and Cheese could use a little more depth with an additional type of cheese. I'm from Louisiana and the greens weren't as savory. Overall it was a decent meal though. Friendly service and a free beer while you wait. Wasn't a long line for Saturday.

Am sadden to give this place a three stars rating however, my reasons are valid. Short version, expensive and just not that good. Long version.. I loved that I didn't have to wait hours for some BBQ which is nice and all but I rather wait a couple of hours and have some mouth watery food. The environment was amazing no doubt, the authenticity of the location is great, they had a huge smoker in the front which was very interesting! The people were amazing, informative and very polite. However, the food did not match the price, I paid about 115 dollar for what you see below and a drink. The brisket had this weird discoloration on it which wasn't too appealing also very grease not moist but just very grease but still dry. The pork ribs were just okay. The sausage was definitely good and THE MAC AND CHEESE was amazing!! Its been a while since I had some good m&c. Ultimately, I had a great time but the food does not match the price unfortunately. P.S. I might've gotten a better meal if I went there at open, I got there around 12-1 and they were out of most stuff :(.

Arrived right at opening and waited about 45 minutes in a line of about 20 people. Service extremely slow but the do offer free water and Lonestar if you want it. Got a 2 meat plate and to be honest, was extremely underwhelmed by both the brisket and pepper jack sausage given the reputation and price ($30 with a drink). Sides were great, but the meat was fairly dry and not as flavorful as others. In comparison to other BBQ restaurants of same level in SE TX, not worth it in my opinion.

I recently ate at the Houston location and wanted to try out this location to see how they compare. This location is a LOT smaller so it was easier to find a parking spot. There was a table outside saying "Enjoy a free beer while you wait." My husband and I do not drink beer but once we got inside, the employees were telling customers to put money in the tip jar for the beer so it really isn't free. 🫤 I ordered the 2 meat plate with brisket and pulled pork and my sides were mac and cheese and tatertot casserole. The brisket was delicious and the pulled pork was tender but they lacked the flavor that the Houston location had. The portions of the sides were also smaller but tasted good. I wanted banana pudding but they said they ran out of it a few days ago. I guess they don't make their desserts daily so I ordered a slice of chocolate cake and was disappointed that it was dry/stale. I threw it away when I got home. Spent $80 on 2 meals, 2 drinks and 1 piece of stale cake. Not worth it. I used their TINY unisex bathroom before I left for my 1 1/2 trip home and although it was clean, the soap dispenser was broke! If this is the only restroom for the employees.....they are not washing their hands!!! 🤮 I do not recommend this location.
