It's by the roadside. Very easy to spot. The pulled pork, pork ribs, turkey are absolutely delicious.... Sausage.. umm...is also a plus. Inside can only have no more than 15 people including ordering. Only 2 tables inside. Plenty of seats outdoors. I can see everyone including the other customers enjoyed the delicious food with maximum satisfaction.... Recommended!
WOW! Walked in and there was no line and the place had 2 tables inside. One was available. Thinking what did I get myself into. Well…I’ll tell ya. Some of the best damn BBQ I’ve ever had. Ordered the Trinity for 5 people and still took food home. The Brussels are otherworldly good. Brisket was tender, ribs were good size and just the right amount of tug. The in-house made sausage was delicious. Owner was gracious with his time and story and I got a tour of the smoke shack. Not as impressive as Snow’s but the BBQ was just as good. Definitely worth the 3 hour round trip from Austin. Great job, guys!!
The BBQ is amazing.. The brisket is cooked to perfection. It's so tender it just melts in your mouth. All the sides are totally homemade from scratch. So flavorful and unique. It's alittle pricey but you really get what you pay for. You also have to get there as soon as the open. The lines gets pretty long. It's first come first serve once they're out they close shop. Trust me they run out pretty quickly!!!!
Line started to form around 10:30. By 11:00, the line was fairly long. Ordering is efficient and friendly. There is limited seating inside and many tables are set up outside, all under shelter or a table umbrella. The pork ribs were the star of the show today. They were the best ribs I've ever had. The sides were delicious too. The mac and cheese was creamy, plump, and even had cooked parts of the cheesy top layer. The tater tot casserole was surprisingly good. The potato salad tasted like a loaded baked potato. And the corn pudding was very flavorful. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I'll be back for more.
Perfect brisket. Best we’ve had all year. There’s no better brisket in Texas - bet me. The Heights location is in our backyard and I wouldn’t go to it. I would rather drive to Brenham anytime they’re open. Delicious sides - Mac was cheesy, corn pudding was creamy. Sides and meat had good seasoning and flavor. Healthy dark smoke on brisket without being bitter. Very dark bark beautifully smoked. Fat well rendered. Even salt distribution throughout the meat. On top of it, I loved that the guys were talkative and jovial. Great music playing. Perfect weather to eat outside. We might go back today.
We stopped in for brisket and ordered the brisket sandwiches, a side of potato salad and the mac and cheese. We wanted to try the corn pudding but it was sold out as were other items. The brisket was flavorful and delicious, tender and lean with burned ends. This is the best brisket we have ever eaten. The sides were also really good. The prices were reasonable and not too long of a wait. Highly recommend.
Have read about this place for years and finally got the chance to stop by and try it. Ordered a two meat plate of brisket and regular sausage to go with tater tot casserole and corn casserole as the sides. Also got a very generous slice of carrot cake. Once home, I divided it all in two as there was plenty enough to do so to make two meals. I'll start by saying that the brisket was probably the best that I have ever had! It was so tender and nearly melted in my mouth. The flavor was perfect. The sausage was delicious as well. I had read before that both casseroles were a must have menu item and I have to agree. They were delicious! And finally, the carrot cake was as good as any I have ever had. If you have never stopped by Truth BBQ or drove by thinking the line wasn't worth the wait, you would be wrong. The line moved quicker than I thought and it was so worth the wait!
Truth BBQ is Michelin bib-gourmand recognized. I was soo happy to see it very close to Blue bell ice cream so I made the visit, it’s small cozy has some tables to sit down. The owner’s father was in the front he was the most friendly person you can encounter in the store he genuinely cares about his customers he was welcoming making sure everyone was happy. Everyone else we’re also welcoming and happy to help. Unlike other bbqs the menu is limited which is understood as it’s out of no where, the brisket was tender and spot on. The Brussels sprouts need their own recognition. Overall I would recommend anyone who cannot make it to there original location to atleast try this.
Amazing bbq and service at a good price! The bbq sauces, pickles&onions, Mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, sausage, ribs, and brisket were all delicious. We even got a free beer! We didn’t have to wait at all on a Sunday at 12:30, although we have driven by it before when there was a line out the door! It would be worth the wait though for sure! Best bbq in town!
The epitome of Texas bbq and small town charm. Their ribs and brisket are some of the best that I’ve ever had. The brussels sprouts are worthy of their title of being world famous since they almost melt in your mouth with the perfectly blended candied sweet and salty flavors. The mac and cheese was also very tasty. The people who worked there were also very friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there. Will be stopping by here when I travel from Austin to Houston.
Truth BBQ in Brenham is Texas barbecue done right. We tried everything—brisket, ribs, sausage, and all the sides—and every bite delivered. The brisket was tender with that perfect smoky bark, ribs were fall-off-the-bone good, and the sausage had the right kick. The tater tot casserole and Brussels sprouts were flavorful standouts, but the banana pudding? Hands-down one of the best we’ve ever had—rich, creamy, and nostalgic in all the right ways. Great food, great folks, and absolutely worth the drive. 🐂🔥🍌🍰
I absolutely loved everything I ate here, but I can't stress enough how amazing their brussel sprouts and brisket were. Unforgettable. However, I would pass on the boudin and sausage the second time should I come again. I didn't get to try their carrot cake which I completely regret. I couldn't get enough of their corn pudding, but not as much as their brussel sprouts. Interesting blend of sweet and tangy. I had one problem, sadly, they had no room inside and it was wet and very cold outside.
We went to several “must-have” BBQ spots in Austin, but on the way back to Houston we stopped here. By far the best! Very clean bathroom with warm water, soap and paper towels. And for the cherry on top? Free beer. It should be the only BBQ you eat day after day whilst visiting Austin. We unfortunately were only stopping for a snack because we had had breakfast, but it was lunch-timeish. We wished we ate more. We went with the recommended Brussels sprouts, tater tot casserole and the brisket.
Truth BBQ is the real deal! One of the best Texas BBQ restaurants I’ve ever had was here. We had two 2 meat plates and it fed my family of 4 easily. The brisket was the highlight, super juicy and tender. All the meats were moist and surprisingly was the turkey breast. Ribs were generously seasoned and fell off the bone! The jalapeño cheese sausage had a great snap to it and was perfectly flavored and not too salty. Out of the mac & cheese, tater tot casserole and potato salad, the latter was the best. We came early (11:30am) before the rush so a short wait. There was plenty of outdoor seating with shade and free beer on ice! Great friendly service! We’ll be back on every roadtrip from Houston to Austin for now on!
We waited for half an hour on a Saturday. There was free beer while waiting. There was no sausage and half of the sides left. We had brisket, was good, turkey good too and pulled pork that was awesome. As a side we ordered Brussels sprouts (because there was no sides left) and we loved them! On each table you have two sauces, the red one a little bit acid and the yellow one really good. There are two tables inside and several tables outside, really close to the road.
Finally got to try truth BBQ on our trip to Houston recently. We came Saturday, December 14, 2024 a little after lunch and it was a little rainy outside, very limited parking but they do have street parking in the back which I recommend because if you follow the road, it is very easy to get out as that is a very busy road Truth sits on. Luckily, we were able to get right in the door and there was nobody in line in front of us. The older gentleman working there made our time and ordering enjoyable and was very friendly. I ordered moist brisket, spare ribs, Brisket Boudin, sausage, turkey breast, tater tot casserole, brussels sprouts, potato salad, and pinto beans and it comes with Martin’s bread (I think) and some pickled onions and pickles. Self serve drinks and they even offer free alcohol to those over 21. They were out of mac & cheese, but they had everything else still available. They have outdoor seating and a tiny bit of indoor seating. The most brisket was absolutely delicious and it was everything you want it to be. The turkey was moist and flavorful. The brussels sprouts were absolutely delicious. I’ve had similar before and this was the best I’ve tried. The tater tot casserole is an absolute banger and a must try. I also thought the pinto beans were flavorful and cooked to perfection. I gave my total visit a four out of five because of the following reasons. Brisket Boudin sausage was good, but it’s not a sausage. It just falls apart and it was very difficult to eat, and I just thought there was a better way they could have served this to me than inside a sausage casing. The pork spareribs had a very noticeable and strong, dirty smoke flavor that I was very surprised by being a Texas top 50 restaurant. The potato salad lacked flavor so much so that I questioned if they tasted their food at all. I found both barbecue sauces to not be very good in my opinion, and my partner believed that one of them was actually rancid. Their outdoor seating was nice, it was wet, but that’s not their fault. There was an abundance of flies at the time so much so that their trash cans were overflowing with flies. they have baskets they keep their barbecue sauce in in the baskets had dried up barbecue sauce on the bottom of them. Also, I tried to use their bathroom twice and it was locked. Maybe there was somebody in there but it’s an exterior entrance so I thought maybe they needed a key but I did not see any postage on what the requirements were to use the bathroom. I collect hats from every barbecue place I go to and I thought a $30 price tag for a hat was quite high for one that turns out to be relatively low-quality compared to the other barbecue restaurants, I’ve purchased much higher-quality hats at for around the same price. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and it was not a bad experience, but as such a high ranking in the Texas top 50, I was surprised by the experience.
My husband and I visited Truth BBQ in Brenham, Texas on Super Bowl Sunday. We had heard rave reviews about Truth, and have been dying to try it ever since we moved to Texas a couple months ago. We arrived about 10:45am (they open at 11:00am) and there were only four people ahead of us in line. We ordered for takeout a half chicken, one link of spicy pepper jack sausage, 2 pounds of turkey, 2 pounds of pork ribs and a pound of brisket. For sides we had mac and cheese, tater tot casserole, corn pudding, and collards. Everything was amazing!!! My husband loves ribs so he pretty much ate all of those by himself. The sausage was wonderfully spiced! All the sides were wonderful, but my favorite was the corn pudding. A must try for “True”Texas barbecue!!
I recently ate at the Houston location and wanted to try out this location to see how they compare. This location is a LOT smaller so it was easier to find a parking spot. There was a table outside saying "Enjoy a free beer while you wait." My husband and I do not drink beer but once we got inside, the employees were telling customers to put money in the tip jar for the beer so it really isn't free. 🫤 I ordered the 2 meat plate with brisket and pulled pork and my sides were mac and cheese and tatertot casserole. The brisket was delicious and the pulled pork was tender but they lacked the flavor that the Houston location had. The portions of the sides were also smaller but tasted good. I wanted banana pudding but they said they ran out of it a few days ago. I guess they don't make their desserts daily so I ordered a slice of chocolate cake and was disappointed that it was dry/stale. I threw it away when I got home. Spent $80 on 2 meals, 2 drinks and 1 piece of stale cake. Not worth it. I used their TINY unisex bathroom before I left for my 1 1/2 trip home and although it was clean, the soap dispenser was broke! If this is the only restroom for the employees.....they are not washing their hands!!! 🤮 I do not recommend this location.
