Nice little spot, very friendly staff. Food and drinks are decent, beware of the avocado toast - it was literally the tiniest little thing we’ve ever seen - definitely not worth the $11 price tag. Any iced variation of their coffee’s are on the lighter side flavor wise. Overall, it’s a nice place with friendly staff and good vibes.
Stopped here for coffee while I had to wait for my car service at Escondido Auto Tech! Great place to have some coffee with bakery treats. Courteous staff
I frequent the Escondido location. It is just a few blocks away so I can easily walk to it. The baristas are always welcoming and offer suggestions. I went in and got a hot in the mug pumpkin latte and it was so well balanced. Normally I bring my laptop to work there and they have a few tables near outlets which makes it easy to stay connected. It is a cozy place to chill and have a great drink.
Delicious latte!!! Honestly, it was great. The croissant was great too. The service was friendly, and I loved my overall experience. Will definitely be back.
Very cool and laid back atmosphere. Almond croissant to die for. Dirty chai is the bomb. Everything is made here. Large kitchen where you can see the action.
The coffee shop environment was so warm and welcoming. The employees looked happy to be working there and answered all my questions I had . I was happy they accommodated my request for my drink to be in a glass cup vs a to go cup. Will definitely come back again.
Amazing spot. You know it from the smell the moment you walk in. Great espresso, pastries, bagels. Room for working from there and all the ladies working were awesome. They even gave my wife a free drink because it’s Mother’s Day!! Our new go to in Escondido!
Outstanding. Just outstanding! We trekked down to Escondido to try James Coffee Co. and we were not disappointed. Although there is not a ton of signage or what looks like other similar businesses in the area, we were able to park and go in to get in line. They have so many options of hot and cold coffee, use glassware to serve their guests, a bathroom in shop and this is not to mention the phenomenal pastries! We enjoyed a house cold brew and cappuccino. Super rich in espresso which we loved! The jalapeño croissant and ham and cheese croissant were outstanding. We will be back. Seating inside and out.
Great coffee spot. It’s on a random street tucked away, but it’s an awesome spot. Love the vibe of this place. Who knew a coffee shop this cool was in Escondido. Staff is great, coffee is great. I will say that the pastries are a tad on the sweet side so be sure to get a coffee along side one. But any one working remotely would love this place. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the Escondido area.

Excellent hang out spot you feel at home. Great to meet family and friends. Courteous staff and tasty eats. Yummy cortado and plenty of seating

The coffee is excellent with a good selection of drink options. A standard latte is all I usually get because it tastes so good. The staff is friendly and keep the place clean. My only complaint is that it can take a while to get your drink since it looks like only one barista can use the machine at a time. This makes it better as a place to hang out than to get a quick cup. I like decor, industrial with some cool seats that adjust height. Be careful with kids though since some of the seats are missing the screws on the bottom that prevent the top from falling out when adjusting too high.
I’m so happy our small city has James coffee! The coffee is always smooth, deep and richly flavorful. I like their regular drip blend or their latte’s. They participate in a program where you can pay a deposit for a glass jar, lid and coozy. You can swap it out and save a togo cup. I know they have to pay for an employee to wash the glass but I appreciate and participate in the program. The baked goods are good quality baked goods and I’m happy to see that they have food items to purchase because originally they only offered what was in the case and once it sold out then you had your choice of what’s left. The Staff are friendly and attentive and the place is always clean and filled with people working or chatting with friends. Thank you James for bringing excellent coffee to Escondido:)
I always love coming here. The people are welcoming and knowledgeable, the baked goods are amazing, and I can always count on delicious and interesting coffees. I think it’s a great spot for a wide variety of coffee people, from people who want innovative drink recipes to people want interesting “plain” coffees. It’s always a good day when I get to go to James.
I really appreciate James Coffee. The coffee is great. The food is delicious ( be careful or you might get one of everything)! The atmosphere is warm and social. The two things I hold against James Coffee is the parking, and at times the service could be warmer. Other than that, this place is fantastic.

The staff in James Coffee & Bakery know how to make an amazing coffee. Good coffee is hard to find in Escondido which makes James Coffee even more special. They are all really kind and hospitable people. That means the ambiance is good too, great place to hangout.

My favorite coffee shop in San Diego! The iced honey cinnamon latte with extra ice is my go-to year round! Best baked goods as well! Great place to work or hang with friends.
I love their fresh roasted whole beans. They roast them at the Escondido location and their beans are awesome for my morning espresso at home. A wonderful coffee shop with a very personal touch. Also great fresh bakery items to go along with your coffee.

I love this place! The baked goods are so delicious. If you like sweets, try the "pull apart muffins". They are a cross between a cinnamon bun and a muffin. If you like savory, get the jalapeño cheddar bagel with cream cheese. It's filling and has a spicy kick that is so much more interesting than a plain bagel. They also serve jasmine tea, which is my absolute favorite. Lots of seating indoors and outside, so you will have lots of choices.
Nice little cafe in downtown Escondido. Nicely decorated and the vibe is very chill. Coffee is decent, and I would choose it any day over generic Starbucks. Still a bit expensive for the quality but worth it for the atmosphere. About $6-7 for a drink. The selection of pastries is a bit limited, would love to see more. Super friendly stuff!!

My wife and I woke up wanting to try something new today, so we went to grab some breakfast at James Coffee. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant had plenty of seating for both. The inside was very minimal with a nice clean esthetic. They also offer free wifi, which makes for a great place to get some work done. The pastries and other food items are displayed behind a glass and labeled making got easy ordering. We ordered a Ham and Cheese Bear Claw and James Breakfast bagel. The Ham and Cheese Bear Claw was very simple, honestly just ham and cheese, nothing special but enough to satisfy you. The James Breakfast Bagel had a Chipotle mayo on it, which caught my attention. soni ordered it on an Everything Bagel. The bagel was very small for $14.. and when I took my first bite.. the Chipotle mayo was very spicy. There were chili flakes and other spices added to it that were way too overpowering that i couldn't take the Chipotle. All the spice is absolutely not needed. Chipotle is a darn good flavor, and if done right, it could make for a great Chipotle mayo. I took too bites before I couldn't stand the heat around my mouth, very disappointing for what we paid. Overall, James Coffee is a very cute spot but not worth the money to me. I dont think I'll be back.

The place was decent, but a bit dirty on the outside and the service was only okay, with one staff member coming off as a bit rude. I’d never want anyone to comment about a customer after they leave, because that just creates a negative impression for others. The avocado toast is by far the worst-looking and worst-tasting toast I’ve seen, and the food overall felt very basic and didn’t match the price or quality I expected. I’m not blaming the cook—maybe that’s how they’re trained—but this was one of the worst spots I’ve tried for food preparation. Please look at your foods and ask yourself if you’d eat it as a customer. First photo from James ( I took a bite before taking photo) and the second was from nearby shop.
I met my mother at James Coffee for a visit, but I delayed to post this review. The service was quick and prompt. The baristas carried delightful conversations. Moreover, James Coffee was busy with many customers. Some were working on laptops, while others were enjoying a coffee moment. But my hot coffee was luke warm, a bummer. Though I did not noticed, my mother complained about the comfort of the chairs. I want to be sensitive about operating cost; after all, the business must make a profit. However, the lighting of shop was harsh white lights. The store could use some warmer lighting. I would like to think this was an off-day for the shop. I will return on the near future for another coffee experience.

I hardly like to write bad reviews, but this place was my usual go-to coffee spot. However, the last 5 visits, their service is extremely slow. I was waiting for at least 30 minutes for my drink, and by the time I asked, it looked like they didn’t have my drink on their radar. One of them mentioned there were 6 other orders ahead of me, and I hardly saw anyone else waiting for their drinks before me. There were also at least two other individuals who asked for a refund for slow service. It’s a shame because I really like this place, and I want to continue going here, but waiting for one drink for 30 minutes is ridiculous.
Needless to say I won’t be back. I genuinely appreciate when customers give an honest review of their experience, which is why I try to do the same. Mexican Mocha (iced): 1/10 - why is it so spicy? I asked for a recommendation & was told this was a favorite, not sure why it tastes like a spoonful of cinnamon coming down your throat. Matcha (iced): 2/10 - tasted exactly like the milk of choice, which was oat milk, as a matcha lover, this genuinely did not taste of matcha. Customer service: 2/10 - barista and cashier could have been welcoming, friendly and more enthusiastic, this is the atmosphere one wants when trying out a new place for the first time.
Terrible experience. There is only one person working the entire place — taking orders, working in the kitchen, and making coffee. He works extremely slowly and clearly doesn’t care that customers are waiting. Three visits in a row, and three times I left without coffee, in a bad mood, with wasted time. I only kept coming back because the downtown San Diego location is great, but this Escondido location is absolutely awful. Not recommended.

We stopped in for an afternoon coffee and pastry. We ordered an iced coffee and a hot coffee. The hot coffee was just flavored milk. The iced coffee (Mexican mocha) was undrinkable. We asked for it to be remade. Which they did but the next drink wasn't any better. I also feel they didn't use oat milk which we were charged for. There was absolutely no coffee flavor in the drinks. The pastries were good- Almond croissant and chocolate croissant. The atmosphere is so industrial and uninviting. Very disappointed that I spent that much for coffee and pastry and didn't enjoy it.
