Today I had aloo pie with beef, so good. Well worth the time, money and trip. Double so soft, sweet and nice. Im was happy as I don’t spend money on outside food often. Ladies were attentive & polite. Definitely would go back for that again. Spent 11.50 for one plain double and beef aloo pie. Within a budget, thanks for lunch
Omg this is my second time being here and the food was sooooooooo good 🔥🔥 8/5 stars 🌟 CHAI. I got one regular Double, one shrimp and one fish and I got all seasonings (hot) all for $11.50. It’s very flavorful, affordable and filling. I could only eat 2 in one sitting and saved the shrimp one for later. If I lived close y I would be going here everyday.
I love this place. The food quality here is exceptional. The employees balance assistance with genuine friendliness. Informal place to eat. I'm eager to experience different items on the menu.
Yo, whenever I'm in Bed-Stuy, A&A is the spot for lunch. It's a real find, a total "hole-in-the-wall." A hidden Gem! It is small, unpretentious, and budget-friendly. The decor isn't fancy but the food is 10/10. This family-run business demonstrates a clear dedication to their "art form" - prioritizing food quality and flavor. Although the space is intimate, seating availability has not been an issue.
I can NOT stress enough that this place needs more attention!!! Omg the ppl taking the orders are super snarky and sweet at the same time... Not rude AT ALL... These kinda places the service can be very rude iykyk and I was pleasantly surprised... Then the food is inexpensive but to drool about 🤤 Believe me you'll thank me later!!!
The restaurant leaves competitors behind. The food had familiar, expected flavors. This place has the right atmosphere, pristine conditions, and minimal style. Both restaurant personnel and culinary offerings exceeded expectations. I'm certainly returning for more dishes.
Was craving Caribbean food since I landed in NY. Staying in Manhattan where most of the food is mid & overpriced, I was super happy to visit this place yesterday. Love the taste, flavor and spice. I ordered bake with vegetables, roti with vegetables, pilaurie, doubles with vegetables, roti with vegetables and bake with saltfish, 2 drinks and a container with hotsauce, 38,- dollars. In manhattan you will get one sandwich for 40,- haha
I just had breakfast here about 30m ago. Ordered a shrimp 🍤 doubles with tamarind sauce and got a sorrel drink. Sat and ate at the counter. It was sooo good, I went back to get a shrimp and bake with sauce and a treat. Ate both so quickly. Spice was just right, so much flavor. When I come back up from VA, I'll have to stop by again. Ate so fast I didn't get a picture of the actual food 🙃 They are also a James Beard award winner for 2019. Look them up 😉
Quite a feast of comfort food!!! Very friendly local unassuming place with very interesting flavors in generous portions which were perfect for a cold day in Brooklyn. Visiting from Los Angeles I had no exposure to this type of Caribbean food before and honestly it really hit the spot and was delicious. The rice bowl I ordered had a wide variety of veggies. Really quite amazing. Honestly I can’t wait to come back and wish I had this kind of place back home. It’s also very reasonably priced. Oh and they clearly could see it was my first time here and were very patient and helpful guiding me through all the options. And were very generous with the portions so I could get a taste of everything veggie.. My friend had chicken I believe and he was happy with his choice but I think all veggie may have been better!
Doubles tasted ok but I felt a small grain of something hard when I bite into it. I hope they didn't tamper with my food because I am a good customer.
No frills place that had some really solid doubles. Delicious and filling! I challenge you to find a more flavorful deal -2 hefty doubles for $5 (or $2.50 each). The service and decor are about what you'd expect for a neighborhood Caribbean place (maybe a little friendlier than average?).
The food was good. They have many options of rotis, meat, they also have shrimp. They also have drinks in the fridge. The atmosphere was quite okay, they have a few seats as well. But the costumer service can be improved. The way they speak to costumers was not really polite and we got scared as their tone of speaking a little bit.
A&A’s is a Caribbean American institution. If you want doubles in Brooklyn, there is only one place to go — A&A Doubles!!!! An’ iz dat! Been a patron since their original location on Nostrand. The move to Fulton offers a more spacious restaurant, with space to dine in — unlike the lines of their first tiny outpost, that flowed all the way down Nostrand Ave. I love their rotis, aloo pies and saheenas; but whenever I need doubles, no other place but A&As! CAVEAT: Customer service needs improvement. They need to be mindful how THEY SPEAK to customers. Sent a first time patron and the way they were spoken to, treated, and served was deplorable. I felt so ashamed after giving them this referral. A&A’s you are serving a global audience, not solely Trinidadians who accept the BS. Please improve.
I use to frequent this place before they moved from Nostrand & Fulton. Got their bake & saltfish often. So good. But this new location. Idk. I had a veggie roti…the channa had no flavor/seasoning. I miss when the potatoes were big and chunky. Dhalpuri was dry, food was cold. I tried the roti twice, the chicken roti was tasteless as well. :( The doubles were cool.
Food went downhill. Ordered salt fish, it came with more onion than fish, I wish I would’ve checked before I left the store. I also ordered peas and rice, and curry shrimp. The curry taste like curry and an extra amount of salt. That’s it. A little disappointed with the shop. Also, be careful when asking for pepper and tamarind. My doubles ended up too sweet with no spice.
Unfortunately the chicken was not cooked. Asked for not spicy roti and both were spicy. Second time getting this thinking maybe first time ok things happen so try again, we did. Didn’t work out. Won’t be back.
The roti was unappetizing had to throw it away. Traveling from the Bronx to Brooklyn I have to say I was very disappointed. The doubles were good surprisingly. The only problem was how it was packed. The paper bag ripped from the moisture and got my car seat dirty and now the stain will not come out.
The bake & heron I ordered it was dry and crunchy. It’s supposed to be moist. Also this is not the best place to go to if you’re looking for delicious doubles. Very subpar. definitely not worth the price if you’re looking for authentic Trinidadian food look elsewhere. i’ve should’ve known if there’s no lines at lunchtime never go.
First and last time in this establishment! I came here after a meeting at my daughter’s school tonight. I hadn’t eaten all day, and my daughter was hungry as well. I ordered curry shrimp, potato and rice for her…and oxtail, rice and channa for myself. I spent $35 sat down and began to eat. I recognized I didn’t like the flavor or the texture of the oxtail I closed the plate up and walked over to the cashier to let her know that I didn’t like the food and would like to get something else instead. I explained I barely touched the food. The cashier had this stunned look on her face, and I turned around and saw an Indian man asked if he was the owner and he said yes…I then explained to him that I didn’t like the food and would like to get something else instead. And he too had this look as if no one ever was disappointed with their food before! But said nothing! So I asked does that mean you can’t do anything about it, and he said basically! I asked for his name and he said “Owner” was his name! I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life! I made it my business to also leave the uneaten plate of food!
