Boat is a popular dive bar known for its late hours, friendly bartenders like Hannah and Clarice, and a lively atmosphere. Customers appreciate the reasonable prices, especially the $5 draft special and $4 Hi-Lifes. The removal of the ping pong table is a common disappointment.

Great place to grab a drink and hang out.
Expensive for a dive, but great bar all around. Ping pong ping pong ping pong
Great little bar hangout in the neighborhood!
Great vibes, from the tunes, patrons and drink prices !
Good pool spot with nice drinks.
Bartender (Ash) is great... friendly, fun place

Nice bar
Cozy Cozy Cozy and bartender on Wednesdays is AWESOME!! She Rocks
Awesome vibe great drinks cool music playlist
The last dive bar standing in the neighborhood. RIP Wade's.
Never walked out of here sober. Love it.
Oldest dive bar in the neighborhood. Full of character
Used to be a great dive bar. Then they cleaned it up quite a bit and now it's just a great bar.
Boat awesome Ashley the bartender is more awesome drinks are good drinks are big drinks are cheap people are nuts I've said mic drop come out
Great place to play some ping pong and drink
MOJO's home bar. What a character that dude is. Had a good time here on a warm night last August.
Greatest dive bar in the area. Cheap drinks and a nice and dark atmosphere.
Great bar staff. Pinball and pool. Solid Brooklyn dive bar.
Great music - all early 2000d emo which was fantastic, great bartenders, and great vibe
For not being at sea or even in the water it floats pretty well. Also good drink prices and late night vibes
This is a treasure of a dive bar, no fancy drinks just shots and beers.
Great place to meet friends. It's the new Cheer's of Brooklyn, Where everyone knows your name!
Really cool bar. Good vibes and affordable drinks
Easy going local watering hole. Friendly bartender, reasonably priced drinks.
Best bar in Brooklyn. Perfect dive
Today I paused to look up Boat, the cozy dive bar near where I used to live, to see if it had gone under in these tumultuous times. Happy to see it’s open right now, though I noticed they added a sign. One of the charms was that it was a red unmarked door. Not in a cool speakeasy way but in more of a the-sign-fell-years-ago-and-we-were-having-too-much-fun-to-care-and-don’t-like-outsiders-anyway sort of way. Inside was a juke box filled with home-burned CDs from locals. It was my dream to get to make a mixed CD for Boat, a true Cobble Hill honor. I got knocked up, stopped going often, and my dreams of one day being immortalized as cool were dashed. 10/10 would revisit.
Rear Admiral Mark Singleton Highly decorated veteran of WW 2 as a famous North Atlantic German U-boat sub-Hunter, sinking 3 and disabling 2 others, assisting in numerous Atlantic convoy crossings and key in implementing the “MAD” (magnetic anomaly detector) technique of sub-hunting. After the war, Admiral Singleton settled in Brooklyn, and opened a local drinking establishment, offering a comforting place for sailors and seamen to regale in the tales of naval warfare and voyages. Notorious for New Year’s Eve party’s where the entire community would join in celebrations of a festive year ahead, topped off with the “Boat Job” drink which consists of a shot of Singleton scotch and soda. Admiral Singleton’s photograph is framed magnanimously behind the bar, paying tribute to his character and stature.
Local spot where everyone is just friendly. All walks of life. Quarter machine pool table in the back really brings random people together. Always a blast
Classic dive vibes. Every game had pieces missing, the pours are heavy, and the music was banger after banger.
Came here for the first time with a few friends let me just say that from the really nice bar tender and the atmosphere everything was amazing and everyone was so nice and I’m glad I had a really great time hope to come again soon
Go-to dive (well it's a bit nicer since they fixed it up) bar in the neighborhood. Reasonably priced drinks and the staff is delightful.
Victor made our night special. And he's good at giving directions around the 'hood. Thanks Brother
Dive bar atmosphere, fun time.
Great bar with great staff. Will come back over and over for the good company. Also Mikey gave me chicken and it was great.
This is a bar and not a restaurant. Good fast service and reasonably priced drinks
if youre looking for a good dive spot on smith, look no further. this place has great ambience and even better pricing. with out expensive drinks are getting these days you can still get a beer and a shot for 8 dollars, i mean come on, thats great. if you live in bk and are looking for a spot to either end or start or even spend your night, boat is it.
My friend affectionately describes this as the only s***hole bar in the neighborhood. He's probably right - nothing around here is as much a dive as this. We came here around 1 am and played a few sloppy rounds of ping pong. Friendly crowd.
Excellent cheap bar on Smith St. Happy hour can't be beat, and the jukebox rules. Bartenders are always friendly and quick. Best go-to spot in the neighborhood.
Love this spot so much. Bartenders are great. Pool is great. Pinball machines up front are tight but often out of order. Swing by. Grab a drink. Hang out.
Among my favorite bars in BK. One of the few old guard dives that stays open late. Great prices on beer/shot combos. (Sadly I just got charged $9 for Heineken zero while on wagon. How is that possible? I was so distraught I fell off the wagon and got an $8 beer/shot)
BOAT BOAT BOAT BOAT ! I go there on Tuesdays. Bartend is amazing, she plays the best music and great shows/movies on the tv. My fav dive/ unpretentious bar. Even if it’s far from me I still go because of how well I’m welcomed there.
The perfect dive. Open late, crowd is somewhere between lively and rowdy but actual fights are rare. Pinball and ping pong, though good luck getting a game in on a busy night. Cheap by Brooklyn standards, if you’re polite you’ll probably get a drink or two comped.
If you're like me, sometimes you find yourself walking around Brooklyn Wednesday morning at 2AM wondering where a fella can find a drink. Well, look no further. (From my 2 am experience) it was a fun, small bar. Good drinks, friendly staff. They say any port in a storm, I say go to Boat in the morn. **Update** Went on a Saturday Night. It was pretty busy and the bartender was taking no nonsense. It is advised you read the signs, as the bartender is busy and doesn't want to waste time. Note: while the bartender was very strict and no-nonsense, she was very skilled and very good at her job, whether or not you find shortness to be a demerit is on you. I ordered a long island iced tea, which I was warned would be $25. I went for it, and it was one of the best I'd ever had. So still 5 stars, fun place, water's at the end of the bar, $15 minimum on cards, and read the signs before you order.
A very nice bar with a good atmosphere and pool table. The prices are quiet reasonable. A special mention to Hannah , the bartender who was friendly, gave me good advice about some drinks and was very knowledgeable. Very tentative and lovely.
Solid dive - Great bartenders, pool, pinball. Higher than average beer prices for the type of place. Open until 4am most nights but they sometimes close early though so don't count on it.
It was a decent spot! Drinks were good.
Went in for a very late nightcap. Not too crowded, good tunes, cheap drinks.
Boat Bar is the perfect place to fall off the wagon. They have your poison as your lifesaver.
Cool bar with a pool table and pinball machines!!!
Gem of a dive bar. Billiards table, converts to ping pong table. Dim lit. Good vibes here.
Great place to hang out. Put a few bucks in the jukebox and play your favorite songs while you drink.
A nice quiet bar with friendly staff and a good variety of drinks.
Great dive to go in and get a drink. Atmosphere is fun and welcoming
Divey bar with good drinks. Good for a large group if needed
Great bar to stop in for a pop......always packed but not too packed. A lively diverse crowd but def a little younger than older. Good for groups or couples who are jus hanging.
Gritty, but fun dive bar with customer friendly drink prices and limited ambiance. Good for groups looking for an unpretentious hang over some cheap beers.
Drinks a good depending on the bartender but there are times where it gets very very packed like holidays and stuff
Unlimited free juke box build on customer mix tapes featuring classics and deep tracks. Fantastic happy hour prices with nautical decour.
Bathroom small, drink is decent and atmosphere is quite laid back but I visited on a Thursday night.
Boat is a solid dive bar. Go for a cheap drink & stay to play Big Buck Hunter. Open later than many spots in the area.
Very relaxed, casual place to grab a drink. Big enough for large parties and as a bonus, they have Buck Hunter.
Great bar but used to be way better when they had a ping pong table. Came here looking to have fun with friends playing ping pong and it disappointed. What happened??!!
Cool dive bar. They have some good combo specials but even without that the prices are very good. The place is a good size. They have three pinball machines and a ping pong table. The bartender was nice. It is a very laid back atmosphere. I recommend stopping in for some 🍻 and drinks if you're in the neighborhood.
So this is a review of the roof of the building, cause I live right behind this place and I'm just amazed at how much water this roof holds! It's become a bird bath for all the avian population. The gutter and drain going down the left side must be totally blocked as it's just a pool up there, stays like a mini lake after even the shortest rain. Fun to watch but probably should be fixed, lol!
Came here with a friend. Bartender was nice! They did not have amaretto. I had a dark rum. It was pretty good. Place was not very crowded, only a little noisy when some people were playing pool in the back. Nice for a Thursday night.
Four stars because they stay open till 4am seven nights a week and the place is never empty or dull. Basic dive-ish type bar but that's part of the draw to the place. Good dive. There are few tables as soon as you walk into Boat , a long narrow bar area & additional seating in the back. The inside is dark & not fancy at all with 2 bathrooms that are very small, rather dark & get pretty messy but not disgusting. The jukebox is pretty good & there's always an interesting mix of people of ALL kinds here. Locals, young crowd, over 40 crowd, tourists, visitors from everywhere & a mostly friendly atmosphere. Bartenders are nice enough. Nothing spectacular about the place or drinks but again it's open late, diverse and usually busy. I'd recommend it if you're in the area!
Not nearly as cozy or fun as it's neighbor Camp, but it gets the job done in the diviest sense.
Good spot to chill with friends and great happy hour
Classic dive bar. Pros: open till late Cons: poor selection of beer and rude service
Typical neighborhood bar. Decent amount of seating, but nothing really stands out. Pretty basic, middle-of-the-road. Fine for a casual drink.
Came for the ping-pong table. Unfortunately they got rid of it. Those still down to pong, post new spot here. Industry City game room, Route 66 Smokehouse in Lower Manhattan have tables. Any others?
Great bartenders but it is a sad, small dive.
Nice for pool playing okay for drinking has pin ball machine quite
$14 for 2 Budweiser bottles and no more ping pong table
BRING BACK THE PING PONG TABLE! Two stars because I did meet my girlfriend here otherwise this new change makes the bar worth only one. We made the trek there for our anniversary just to play some ping pong and now that it is gone I don’t see what the value is going to this spot instead of the other 10 bars on Smith. So disappointed.
This lady who was bar tending on August 27 2019 at night was soo rude, we didn't even get anything, we left asap...
Too dark. Drinks are not strong. Bad service.
Awful customer service and rude bar staff Will not be returning
I came here for my birthday and when I told the bartender she told me that I wasn’t an adult…I’m in my 30s, honestly never experienced worse service
They tried telling me my real ID wasn’t me and then tried to take it. Then made a HUGE issue abt it and was extremely rude. They Were completely disrespectful
Regularly harassed by patrons of this bar when I’m walking by late at night. Draws an unsavory crowd. To be avoided.
The chubby pale girl behind the bar makes people who work at the DMV seem friendly
The bartender had a terrible attitude but she was only like that with us (the only two black folks in the bar) defiantly not a colored friendly bar! She did not want to serve us! We ask for a margarita with but one with a certain type of alcohol her words to me was “I’m not making that for you” but attended to every one of those people needs. She was a Caucasian with brown/black hair. BOAT IS NOT COLOR FRIENDLY & I will be making a Tictoc about this place.
female bartender (white, black hair, glasses wearing a ‘thank god for abortion’ shirt, didn’t catch her name) was rude as hell when the bar wasn’t even busy (at 1am) gave friend A attitude bc all he ordered was soda. shortly after friend B ordered white claws. told friend C not to be rude (friend C interrupted bc she was trying to pay for friend B). then bartender slammed the white claws down on the counter, splashing the drinks on their hair, and aggressively screamed the price at my friend so loud that i was across the bar and still heard her over the music. i was observing up to this point. i told her she was being rude and she told me maybe we shouldn’t be at the bar and took the whiteclaws back. we left after finishing the margs that tasted like acid. will never return.
Don’t trust their “hours” you might decide you want one drink before going to bed and its 42 minutes before your closing time and they tell you, not even apologizing that they gave “last call” before you walked it 45 mins prior closing time, so they wont serve you hahaha yeap.. published hours and mood of the bartender are not synced.. and employees decision weights more.. even after you very politely explain you just wanted one drink before bed and you went ALL the way there to get it.. they couldn’t care less.. thats worst than poor customer service to me.. that’s zero.. i would give no stars if possible and make sure ALL my neighbors know..
Went three times to this dive bar and it was cool. But on Friday (4 Oct), the barman lost it completely. There were four people left at the bar and nobody was misbehaving. The barman suddenly jumped on the bar and threatened everyone to leave immediately. He was very aggressive and was really looking for a fight. I don't know what he was on but this was completely out of order. He didn't ask a single time before; and we didn't do anything wrong or inappropriate before.
Stopped in, asked if they had a cocktail menu. Tall, bald headed guy, with a beard, pointed to the beer list on the wall. Then he quickly turned his back and walked away. Despite the gesture, I waited for him to return so I could order an Old Fashioned. He said, "I have no sugar," and turned his back again. Apparently ordering standard cocktails at this place is unwelcome. Boat in clearly a dive. And according to its service, it reeks
I really hate to give this place 1 star. I live in the neighborhood and been coming here for years. Vic is amazing. But there’s this one other male bartender who always has an attitude and is miserable and complains about not tipping cash. I definitely will find somewhere else to go on days he is working.
This place is alright BUT *watch your pockets/bags*!!!A friend and I both had our phones stolen on a monday evening. They were at no point unattended so whoever it was Munster have been taking notes. Mine looks to be up on 65th street in Manhattan and I am not expecting to get it back. This is not the first time I’ve heard someone experience a theft there. Gonna stay away from now on.
I wanted to like this bar as my neighborhood go-to but I really had such a bad experience with the black male bartender working that night. He was taking shots and giving free ones to all the women in the bar and could care less about serving our group. On top of that, anytime I wanted to order a drink I was confronted with the most aggressive response from him. I can take my business where they appreciate me.
