Haven't been back since the pandemic, just a promising as I remembered. Completely worth the time and investment. Best with company, so you can be reassured how lucky you are to experience the pleasure of this food.
A really lovely place with really delicious food. I had their spicy momo, chili chicken, and chana katsa. The chana tasted a lot like boiled peanuts but more flavorful, which was a delight. The spicy momo was incredible, I literally ate spoonfuls of the sauce once we had eaten all the momos. Chili chicken was good, but next time i’d opt to try a noodle dish. The atmosphere was nice, a perfect date night. Highly recommend!
Cash only. Wow, this place is delicious and the service is excellent. First time I've had Tibetan food, and this place has made me a fan. I was looking forward to coming back right after my first visit. I'm currently working in this neighborhood and have tried over a dozen of the local restaurants, and this one is my favorite. Prices are very fair. Typically, lunch/dinner is $15
I have been here so many times in the past 10 years. Finally, I am writing a review. I tend to get the same dishes every time because they are consistently good. My go-to dishes are lamb Thali, pork chili, and momo. We tried fried momo this time and the fried version was perfect with the crispy texture. The service here is very friendly but slow. But once your food arrives at your table, your hanger will be gone within the first bite. So it is worth the wait but best to go there when you are not so hungry. Updated (03/05/23): this is still my favorite spot for Himalayan restaurant in the neighborhood. I just cannot help it to order lamb Thali again. So delish!
If you have not tried Tibetan food before, this is the place to go! This neighborhood restaurant is LOVED by the locals and is a true gem. We were told by a local that this was their favorite restaurant in the neighborhood so we went and tried it. They cook delicious authentic Tibetan cuisine served by a welcoming staff. We recommend their Momos which are their traditional Tibetan dumplings. We ordered Combo Momo's which comes with 3 beef, 3 chicken & 3 veggies. The beef and Chicken filling was juicy and seasoned very well! Overall they were all savory and delicious, with a slightly chewy texture from the dough and a flavorful filling. It is cash only restaurant if you plan to eat here but worth every penny! We also recommend garlic noodles. The noodles are tender and full of flavor, with the beef and vegetables making it a perfect dish. It was savory and slightly spicy, with a strong garlic flavor and the sauce has a slightly sweet and sour taste. We can't wait to comeback to this neighborhood again just to eat here.
Love this place. It’s cash only. Usually order the mango lassi which is amazing. The app I got were the chickpeas which were a little dry and the cabbage salad. The lamb curry which is good it used to come in a bigger portion also it used to taste better but it’s still good. The other main dish was the chicken mango which was really good. I highly recommend this place and trying new dishes every time you go.
Wow I literally just finished my food and I needed to get on here to tell you all how good it is. Truly a hidden gem in Brooklyn. I got the traditional “then thuk” noodle soup with beef. I had to tilt my bowl and to get every last drip in my spoon lol Amazing scenic view, enjoy it! Part 2 I came back with a friend and we ate inside. They’re not about social media so only locals know about this hidden gem
Very good and cosy little spot for Tibetan food. Easy to miss, right by the subway entrance! Loved the setting with the green walls and decorations. Most of the food was delicious and quite new to me. The curry was excellent and creamy. The soup was hearty. Try also the platter which comes with many delicious little sides. Sadly, the momos (Tibetan dumplings) were a the only disappointing part of the meal, a bit dry, under-seasoned and under-filled. I would definitely come back if I’m in the area!
Excellent and unusual food. I'd call the service "laid back". A VERY small place - one table for 4, all the others for 2.. But nicely decorated. The menus has changed slightly - prices raised. Waitress said that someone is working on updating it. Sunday note: official opens at 12, but "we get shipment from Queens", so they can open later. Have a cup of coffee in Dunkin Donuts 2 doors over and wait.
Fantastic experiences at Cafe Tibet! Get their Mango fried rice! And their soup dumplings! Their delicious 😋 if you're looking to try Tibetan food for the first time this is the place for you! It's super casual and super cute ambiance. Right next to the Cortelyu metro station. Has cute outdoor seating too. The only problem is there isn't a bathroom and their stuff is a bit pricey for the portion sizes which are definitely on the smaller size. Otherwise I love this place and am looking forward to be back ☺️
Next to a train station this spot is great for quick bites, take outs, offers vegetarian options, but prepare to pay cash only. This place has Buddhist attributes on the walls, and gives you a sense atmosphere of Tibet. I would suggest to try Thalli with meat or vegetarian option. Another popular dish here is Momo which is made with meat or veggies. Asking about a spicy level of a dish might be necessary for those who like me not a spiciness lover. Enjoy this traditional Tibetan cuisine!
A very warm, quiet spot near the subway station. We had been here on a cold afternoon for some warm thukpa. We got chilly chicken, chicken thukpa and spicy chicken momos. The food was good, quick and friendly service. Chicken thukpa could have been slightly better with more flavors. Chilly chicken was delicious, served with white rice. Spicy momos were served with red sauce. They were not very spicy but very flavorful. PS. They only accept cash so make sure you carry cash with you. There’s an ATM inside a convenience store next door but they’ll charge you fees.
This is disappointing, as I very rarely post reviews, but the food I ordered was atrocious. I asked for the Shrimp Curry dish and I got this pathetic meal, with six freezer-defrosted shrimp and 4 slices of zucchini in a watered-down sauce. It's sad because I really like the concept, true hole-in-the-wall, but the food is barely passable. Last time I eat here.
