Went here recently for a friend’s engagement party - not only was the vibe awesome and nerdy good fun, but the bartender was INCREDIBLE. One person did the work of like twenty people and barely broke a sweat - they were slinging (delicious) cocktails and shots and beers and making food and delivering it to tables and toasting the newly engaged couple and even checked to see if they had a bar-branded shirt to purchase for me and no one was waiting around for a drink even though we crammed the bar and they were the only one working. Truly chillest and most on point bartender ever !! *chefs kiss*
Nice environment and service. Enjoyed a very tasty Irish coffee
This place is a hole in the wall! I went alone once and the guests sitting at the bar and I were able to hold lovely conversations. Bar staff is super sweet. Also went on a Friday and they had Karaoke night (boy did we have fun). I strongly recommend a visit if you’re from the neighborhood.
This isn't really a dining in space, but it's a great neighborhood bar with a great staff and vibe. Warhammer themed bathrooms are a definite plus.
The neighborhood bar for the hipper parts of north Kensington + spillover from Windsor Terrace. Wish the location was slightly better, but the vibe is great, and the prices are solid, even as they've gone up a bit. Trivia on Sundays is consistently good as well. Can't really recommend the food, but plenty of options around to bring things in.
My wife and I were visiting the city to see a Broadway show. I wanted to check out this bar because it is owned and operated by one of my favorite podcasters, Stuart Wellington. We arrived at the bar early in the afternoon and Stuart was there. We had a very pleasant conversation with him and the bartender who was from Ireland. I think her name was Angela, but I could be mistaken about that, sorry. The atmosphere was friendly, comfortable, welcoming and unpretentious. We ate some tater tots and pigs in blankets that were very tasty, and we drank some really good Singlecut buckwheat stouts. If I lived near this place it would definitely be my regular spot to enjoy a pint after work. I look forward to visiting again sometime. The only slight bummer was that they were sold out of Hinterlands t shirts in my size, but I will get one online when they are available. Thanks Stu! It was really nice to meet you!
A great bar with friendly staff and a good atmospere 🍻 It was karaoke night when I visited and although I didn't have the nerve to show of my singing skills others where very into it, and it was surprisingly good! 🎤🎶 A nice place to have a beer and meet the people from Brooklyn!
The Hinterlands Bar in NYC offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed evening. Their creative cocktail menu features unique and delicious concoctions, while the friendly staff provides top-notch service. The dimly lit space creates a warm and inviting vibe, making it a great spot for conversation and connection. Whether you're looking for a quiet night out or a place to catch up with friends, The Hinterlands is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend their seasonal specials!
UPDATE - SEPT. 2024: They have an official game night most Tuesday nights run by a super welcoming group of regulars if you want to learn fun new board games. There's karaoke on Friday nights! And "Lit Up Trivia" with Craig Reid every Sunday night. Not to mention a literal Happy Hour twice a day from 2-3. It really is a fun local vibe that anyone and everyone should pop in and check out. Pop in and say hi! 🖖🏽 -----🪴 You gotta love a low key bar catering to the geek crowd. Has a back yard for spring time fun and enough indoor space to house an impromptu strat session with your DnD group (the main reason we seem to go). The bathrooms are a true delight to pee in. All of the current staff are lovely, and the owners are very kind. For better or for worse, this place is open until 4am so if you need a late night fix in Kensington, Hinterlands is the spot.
Nice space with a good selection of IPAs and other beers. Food selection is minimal including pretzels, chips, tater tots, pizza and pigs in a blanket. The atmosphere has been pretty relaxed every time I've been here. There's a nice outdoor space. The bathrooms are wall papered with old dnd pages. Pretty cool.
Leaving review after we finished our food :) First time here. Place is great! The bartender is super friendly even though she was very busy. We live just around the corner and I think will be coming back more often. The inner decoration and walls are delivering a special cozy vibe. Try their panini brioche burger, it’s delicious.
Great neighborhood bar with a bit of a rpg theme to it. The decor is top notch, service always great, wide variety of space to sit sit and enjoy one of there 12 tap beers and cider. You can take up a seat at the window to people gaze, get social at the bar or move with a crew to the back room or backyard. They have great sandwiches on offer and a few other food items, so you don't have to leave.
Funky and eclectic bar, but a very small wine list. Pours on wine and prosecco are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than at similar bars nearby though, so I'm not really interested in going back because it feels like the drinks were kind of a rip-off (for a lack of a better term). But if you like beer and other hard liquors/ mixed drinks, this would probably be a great place for you. Know before you go: large patio is open in the back till 12, but since it’s getting cold and we’re nearing winter — make sure to bundle up.
Over priced. It's not Manhattan, it's a small bar in Brooklyn, there's no need to charge $17+ for one single cocktail, be realistic. There's a reason it's empty.
