Istanblue is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that makes NYC a great foodie town. The food is delicious and good value for the money. Although we were first time customers we were treated like old friends. We ended the meal with the best baklava I have ever tasted.

I got pickup here consisting of salmon kebab (that came with roasted vegetables and rice) and a lentil soup and it was so so delicious, I’m still dreaming about it days later. I couldn’t tell you what was so good about it - there was no special sauce, no unusual or unique twist, it was just perfectly cooked, perfectly juicy and smoky, and perfectly simple and delicious. I’d eat this every day if I could.

Finally there is a great restaurant in the neighborhood!!! My husband and I have tried it for the first time last night. The meat was amazing, and we really appreciated the variety of fresh ingredients on the plate. And the baklava was out of this world! We had to go back for more this morning. Highly recommend!

Noticed this new place in the neighborhood and had to try it. We ordered 2 lamb shish kebab sandwiches as a baseline test. One was on pita and the other was on Turkish pita. They were both delicious but I recommend trying the Turkish pita. The woman on the phone who took our order and the guy who rang us up were both very nice. We will definitely be returning to try some more items off of the menu.

Better than I expected. The lahmacun is thin and crispy, fresh out of the oven. Portions are big. Meat gyro is on the salty side but pretty delicious! Ezme is fresh. And the bread is served warm. Also, the baklava is surprisingly excellent! It is just the right mix of melt in your mouth sweet — not too much, not too little. I’d recommend checking this place out if you want a fast, non fussy, and pretty good tasting eating experience.

We had 2 lahmacun, large yaprak sarma, large iskender, kofte with rice, kokorec, ayran and Turkish tea… our bill was only $90 and they also gave us doner for free… I highly recommend this place.

A nice place to get a good meal. The people are nice, the food taste great, and very open area, the only problem there's no more free, Wi-Fi. There is also a problem with phone receipt. It's not the stores fault, it's just the area itself. A few other stores do not have cell reception, and the bathroom is okay if you need to go in a pinch.

My family came here tonight to get takeout. We love Turkish food and this is the real deal. Highlights include lachmacun, adana kebab meal, and the lentil soup. The lachmacun is sooooo good and so authentic. The staff is very nice and we enjoyed drinking tea while waiting for our food. I'm so glad I noticed this new spot near my job on Avenue J! Their food is halal and kosher and the people who work there are so kind! So far I've had all the soups, fries and chicken over rice and the Turkish bread is the best ive had in the city thus far. Can't wait to wait to work my way through the menu 😋

Nice little Turkish spot tucked away on Avenue J. From outside you can’t tell but it is quite beautiful inside with spacious seating for dine in. I’ve had a chance to try the chicken and lamb sandwiches. I’ve also had the lamb kofta platter and wrap. All items were cooked to order and the platters came with salad and fresh bread. Decent price as well.

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to leave one for them— the rice, lamb, salad, Turkish bread; everything was simply fantastic. I spent 20 minutes relishing the entire meal and was completely satisfied. The only minor issue I had was that there were slightly too many onions in the salad, and the portions of both white and red sauce were a tad too small, insufficient for my taste.

The restaurant is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. They prepare Turkish cuisine. They have a nice variety of appetizers, entrees, desserts and beverages. I ordered the ezme appetizer which was mildly spicy. The chicken gyro and salmon shish kebob were tasty. The islander kebob was in a platter with layers of lamb and yogurt on the side. The pita breads were excellent. The food was well-prepared and portions were generous. Friendly and helpful staff.

I love this place so much!!! I work nearby and order pickup from here at least once every two weeks. The portions are generous and the falafel is so good I could cry tears of joy. Great Turkish food for very reasonable prices. I had the Lamb Adana- the meat tasted amazing and the serving size was generous. The sauce made everything even better. One small thing to note: there were quite a lot of onions which I really liked, but if you're not a big fan then maybe add a note for less onions. Overall highly recommend!

Here is the detailed review of all the items i ordered. Lamb gyro-5/10 the worst item on a roaster terribly bland. Put some seasoning and pamb fat on it guys Chicken gyro-6/10 def better than lamb but dry Adanas- 8/10 probably their best item both lamb and chicken equally good Kofte- 7/10 solid kofte Chicken kebab - 8/10 very good considering how hard is it to don anything great with checken breast. Lamb chops- 7/10 good but lamb chops are hard to ef up Lahmacun -6/10 small and pricey Bread- 8/10 i think they swithed to making it themselves better flavor but size got smaller Overall its a 3.5 stars kinda place it does the trick when u crave turkish food but if you move u barely will remember it

Went in on a Sunday afternoon specifically for different food. Had a great experience having Turkish street food called Kokorec + (Vegetables) that I have had in Istanbul. I wish they had alternative options to white flour hero and bread though. The place was nice, clean, and well decorated. Bummer was gnats (little flies) all over the dining area and in the restroom. Lamb soup was good. They allowed me to customize the order which was great as well. Tres Leches was good but can be much better. Acili Ezme and Solsun Patalacan were both great! If they take out the gnats, lost the mainstream garbage music, and have healthier bread options, it would be 5/5 for me. Wish them much success for the future!

I ordered chicken adana, small for $12. It comes with an assortment of rice, salad and one piece of chicken kebab. It also comes with bread along with white and hot sauce. The food was delicious. However, the portion of my order was smaller than expected. Another issue is that the bread was stale. It felt like it was baked yesterday.

The experience at Istanbul Kebab House (Ave J) was a letdown from start to finish! The toilet is an absolute travesty—tiny beyond belief, forcing you to squeeze through the door sideways like a contortionist. It screams of sheer indifference to customer comfort, as if they begrudgingly slapped it together just to meet some legal requirement, checking off a box with the bare minimum effort. Inside, it’s a dreary, uninspired mess—cheap, tacky finishes and furniture that look like they were scavenged from a clearance sale. The shawarma? A measly 3 out of 5—bland and forgettable. For real flavor, nothing beats the legendary shawarma from Genatsvale in Brighton Beach; this place doesn’t even come close! Save your time and appetite for somewhere that actually cares.

Wanted to check out the new joint, very disappointed. Ordered chicken over rice,small plate : rice had distinct smell. White and red sauces isn’t sauce at all, especially red sauce tasted like they have mixed chipotle sauce with water! Fake Mediterranean!

I had kokoreç at this restaurant, and it was a truly disappointing experience. While chewing, I almost broke a tooth because there was a small stone in my food. I informed the staff, but to my surprise, they didn’t take my concern seriously at all. The lack of responsibility and customer care was frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience.

They started pretty good with great food and ample amounts of meats per serving but unfortunately food quality and QUANTITY has gone down since their early days. Got 2 lamb giro sandwiches today and they had very little meat. Had to push the meats into the bottom and throw away half of the bread to make it better. Lamb was not tasty either - it looked pale with no char marks and texture was more close to the processed meets rather than thin slices stacked together. Sorry but I don’t think I will come there again.

I wanted to like this place because I had a good experience when I ate here a few weeks ago, but their service is pretty bad. Their portions are large (but a bit overpriced) and their rice is very good. However, I went in to place a takeout order but when I got home, I realized they didn’t give me all the items I ordered. When I called and asked for a refund on that item, the girl on the phone admitted it was her mistake but refused to give me a partial refund. This is bad service in my opinion when it was the restaurant’s fault.

My wife and I visited the restaurant because I wanted to eat Turkish food. We ordered a shepherd salad and two lamb kebab sandwiches. While we waited, we received a complementary humus with Turkish bread. The bread was very hot yet very tasty. The tomatoes and cucumbers in the shepherd salad were cut into very large pieces which possibly led to the taste of the dressing (oil and vinegar) being barely noticeable. The sandwiches were large, containing 5-6 pieces of meat with salad. While the bread always very tasty, the meat, however, was not, as, it seems, it wasn’t marinaded at all. No amount of the white or red sauce delivered on the side was able to enhance the experience. Afterwards, we were also served a complimentary tea. The staff is very nice. They are definitely trying to offer the best possible service. I just with the food was better.

Literally the most disgusting food ever They have 0 respect for customers they gave me cold food and they charged for $25…. For some rice with sauces that have barely anything in it, also the cooks don’t know nothing about food safety they will literally touch your food (chicken,fish,beef) with no gloves and won’t even wash their hands after they touched cash. Very very upsetting, never will visit again!

We went here with our friends and waited a long time for the order. When the food arrived, it was cold and overly greasy. The greens were very few and dirty. Although we told the owner of the restaurant, he did nothing to compensate for this and was very rude. I definitely don't recommend it, it's a waste of money and your stomach.

It’s not what I was expecting, I am really disappointed in the food. Especially the gyro was served cold and dry, they are extremely understaffed. They put me in a very terrible seating area where they had stacks of water bottles and drinks. I didn’t feel comfortable. I noticed that the cooks don’t wear gloves. I've only tried gyro platter and bread. Gyro platter was good. The bread was made from the back kitchen and it was huge but the taste was very bad. Outside looked baked but inside was undone and smelled. But the worst of it all is the bathroom. It stinks everytime I go there. Men and women use the same bathroom which is not good but please clean your bathroom! I will visit again to see if bathroom is cleaned. If not, I will file a complaint with the proper offices hi.

Horrible. I’m a big fan of Turkish food and my usual restaurant never disappoints. However, due to this one being closer I decided to give it a try. To begin, I asked for lamb and chicken got lamb only. Furthermore, the meat itself was dry and cold, the rice was sticky and completely tasteless plus they added a pita in there that was perhaps like a piece of rubber. Over all a complete disaster, this place doesn’t deserve the Turkish Food title. Do yourself a favor and drive a bit further if you want to get real food and not this junk.

I was excited to hear there was a new Turkish restaurant in my neighborhood. I gave it a try to only be Disappointed. I ordered the lamb pita dinner special for $9.99 to only find 5 thin pieces of lamb on my takeout container with tasteless rice and pita bread alit hard & cold to the touched. I hear what look like a Manager telling the worker not too much lamb we're running out smh. Even if I wanted to I couldn't make a gyro sandwich with the amount of meat given. He showed me and instead to take my order at the cash register he left me in front of the counter. He just switched to a couple who walked in. After couple 2 officers and the lady approached. And I was still standing there until a young lady asked what I want. I placed an order with her. And I ended up leaving last. He served every person who walked after me and then I was the last who left that place without food. They got my order wrong! He started apologizing. I simply told him and he knows that I am the one of the first customer who is with them from the beginning. And I was still nice to them and I said it’s fine we will come back to have whatever was missing. I figured that man who calls himself manager doesn’t know how to run business and when owner is not there everything goes wrong 😑. I didn’t take my food cuz it wasn’t what I ordered. Very dishonest establishment, I ordered food for pickup, it took forever for the girl who was taking the order to understand me. My husband went to pickup and they wouldn't honor the 10% discount from their own flyer. Next, the overcharged every single item! I ordered a chicken soup, on the flyer it was $5.95, on the receipt it said 6.16. Lahmacun was 5 and they charged 5.18, chicken shish sandwich was 7.95 they charged 8.23, lebneh was 7 and was charged 7.25. Bill was 26.82 plus 2.38 tax. After my husband kept telling them about the discount, they finally gave back 2 bucks or so. And she wouldn't give my husband the receipt, he had to ask for it because she put it on the counter and not in the bag. Obviously they didn't want anyone to see their shady business practice! And why the difference in price when it orderd over the phone and a pickup? It is not the cents, just the principle. When I called back, she said oh I gave your husband a discount..lol. I tried explaining about the discrepancy, but she just did not get and kept arguing that I gave a discount! How the heck do they expect to stay in business if they have zero customer service? Food was bland and flavorless, the chicken sandwich in pita was ice cold, the bread was never warmed up. Every place I have gotten turkish food from always gave bread with soup. No bread for me? I wouldn't go back if they gave me free food! Believe me there are much better Turkish restaurants out there. Doors will be closed so fast if they keep up with the awful service!

Absolutely horrible experience — do not go! This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I went to this Turkish restaurant expecting a nice meal, but instead I had to ask for everything myself — plates, cups, forks, even the sodas. When they finally brought the plates, they were all mismatched, and one was clearly used and dirty. Disgusting. Then after waiting 20 minutes for my food, a waiter came over just to tell me they were out of what I ordered and asked if I wanted something else. Why not tell me earlier? As if that wasn’t enough, they served everything in disposable plastic and paper cups — yes, single-use throwaway cups at a full-service restaurant. Completely unprofessional. When the food finally came, the meat had a terrible smell — like it had gone bad. I showed it to the waiter and all they did was apologize. No replacement, no manager, nothing. This place is unhygienic, unprofessional, and downright careless. Never again

I have been to this establishment three times, and unfortunately, I encountered the same problem each time. I am allergic to rice, and I specifically informed the staff to exclude it from my dish. However, my request was ignored every time, and rice still ended up in my food. Such an attitude toward guests’ requests shows a lack of attentiveness and responsibility from the staff. If someone has an allergy, it is not a matter of personal preference but a health concern! I am very disappointed and will not be returning. I do not recommend this place to anyone expecting attentive service and respect for customer requests.

I ordered chicken gyro on a home bread. But it had strong odor of Lamb. And chicken also tasted somewhat lamb flavor. The chef used the same cutting knife for lamb (first) and chicken meat that's why it left the taste and smell of lamb on it. It was not fun. Two cashiers, one of the Busra (Nursa) working today absolutely doesn’t know their job, why this place change their employees all the time. They tried to overcharge and giving us attitude for no reason then acting like I’m getting something for free lol instead of saying sorry she is being rude. I had the chicken and lamb gyro sandwich, and unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The taste was really off, and the quality was really bad. While I can’t speak for the other gyro items, this one left us feeling uneasy after the meal. Definitely not an experience I’d want to repeat.

The poorest sandwich i ever had. I ordered a chicken Adana sandwich $13, it was like 2 very small pieces of tomatoes swimming in the peta bread along with very little lettuce and a finger-size chicken piece. I don’t recommend this place.

I ordered a plain burger and they put cheese on it and I asked them if they can make the correct plain burger, I’m allergic to the kraft cheese they put on the burger and when I asked them that I heard the chef yelling about it, But I let him be. After they “made a new one” it was the same burger they just scrapped the cheese off. I didn’t notice that till half way through eating the burger when there was cheese left on the other side of the burger. They lost a customer today. I had to go to urgent care because I had an excessive amount of rashes on my chest and neck.

Worst place in all of brooklyn. Sucks major time. Avoid at all costs. If you really need something just go the pizza store next door. Its famous. But this place (instanblue) SUCKS. i would rather get hot dogs from a cart than go back here.

I ordered a large portion of chicken jairo, they brought a small portion. I paid for the big one, although I didn't get what I expected. The food was cold and standy, the salad was tired.

Very disappointed in this platter . I got a large mix and for some reason they skimped on the portion which is crazy since the platter was 22$. On top of that the lamb was very dry
