Great place. Perfect food and friendly environment. We tried branzino in caviar sauce and roasted duck. Both were perfect. Everyone was so nice and friendly. It's definitely our favorite place in Park Slope.
Staff was very helpful and kind. Great service. The drinks were great. The area dinning area was spread out. Proper protocols were adhered by. Food was awesome. All and all a great experience.
My wife and I spent an elusive date-night here last night and loved every minute of it. There's a warmth to the place that complements the delicious Italian food. We both got different specials, my wife getting the gnocchi with beef short ribs while I enjoyed the duck breast with fig sauce over polenta. Everything was surprisingly good, and we would have gotten desert had we not been so full. We sat at the bar and the service was great!
Love this place. It’s always reliable. Service is prompt and they are great with kids. We’ve been there 20x easily.
No matter how many times I try other Italian in the neighborhood, I catch myself coming back to Mariella. The pasta is always comforting, there's rotating seasonal menus, and always a decently-priced bottle to split with my spouse or a friend. Service is quick and friendly. Eating on the cozy patio during spring and summer makes the meal perfect.
Delicious food, my friend and I came and had two appetizers, a pasta dish and some wine. Everything was wonderful and I felt extremely affordable. Our waitress was great as well. Will definitely come back
Short rib hash for brunch has a large portion (good amount of meat). Their service is truly great! Everyone was smiling sincerely and they truly welcome and take care of you.
Went here last night and loved it. Great improvement from Sweet Wolfs. Delicious Italian food that's decently priced. Menu is concise and sweet, but with 5 specials there was lots to choose from. We had the braised spare rib and penne burrata and it was very good. They accept credit card, but don't have their liquor licence yet (but said it's coming). Great addition to the Slope.
The best way to go to any good restaurants is the word of mouth. I am glad they told me and I have visited there twice with my friends since last month. This nice Italian restaurant is also located in area Park Slope (there are several nice and authentic Italian restaurants in the area unlike the rest of Brooklyn). It has a nice ambiance and super friendly staff (everyone was so nice and friendly!). This is not a place to Bring Your Own Wine. Nevertheless, the wine by the bottle is very reasonably priced (several $30-35 options, so, it fits my budget perfectly to share with my friends). I loved the Shrimp & Avocado Salad. The gluten-free pasta with lobster special was also amazing. They also have an outdoor dining area for summer months, and I am really looking forward to it. They served Mahattan quality food with Broooklyn price (It is very reasonable price). I highly recommend this restaurant.
My favorites here are the eggplant cherry tomatoes and burrata cheese appetizers and pasta. The wait staff is so friendly. It's a place you can feel very comfortable relaxing in. The music is always good and the decor is attractive and down to earth. Plus, a beautiful patio in warmer weather. It's really one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Park Slope.
My favorite restaurant in Park Slope! Amazing & fresh food (everything seems delicious), cozy & warm atmosphere, super friendly staff, affordable prices, locally produced ingredients from sustainable farmers, AND gluten-free pasta available (great for intolerant people like me)! You just can't go wrong with this place. My favorite dish is the salmon, but I also LOVE the pasta with kale pesto and walnuts. I will come here again, and again.. and again! So happy it's in this neighborhood!
This place was outstanding. We had a miscommunication with the waitress regarding my wife's dish and unfortunately, only one plate came out. We asked the waitress about the problem and they promptly corrected the situation by not only making her food and bringing it out with five minutes, but they also made her meal free of charge and also gave us a free dessert after the meal! This is some truly exceptional customer service and we'll most assuredly be back! Mariella's, keep up the amazing and outstanding work!
The food is incredible here. The wine is also good. Gorgeous space on a really beautiful street. Plenty of room to social distance from other tables. Best of all, the sweet staff!
I've been all around the world eating at restaurants, but Mariella might be my favorite. Me, my wife and son went on a rainy summer day and it was perfect. Mariella is cozy and warm and the staff are nice and attentive. Great place to bring your kids. Have the Pork Rigatoni, it's fantastic!
I don't usually give out five stars, especially on a first visit, but this place was quite good and checked pretty much every box. The menu is surprisingly varied, with plenty of pasta and non-pasta options. There are several specials in addition to a varied menu. There are lots of gluten free options; they seemed willing to substitute gf penne into any of the sauces they offered, and the people who tried it said it just tasted like any other pasta. Everything seems fresh. The short run was a good size portion. The staff are very friendly. They didn't have an issue with us hanging out until closing and chatting. There's a bunch of dessert options. We tried the orange gelato and the tiramisu, both of which were very good. Nobody was unhappy, and we came as a group of six and each got very different foods. I guess my only complaint was that the bread was cold, and we had to ask for balsamic for it, although as to the latter, they brought balsamic without issue. Overall a great neighborhood find with reasonable prices.
Mariella is a delightful gem in Park Slope. I've eaten here a handful of times over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. The wait staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions and their wine selection is great. The outdoor seating, both immediately in front of the building on 6th Avenue and additional seating on 12th Street, is ample and provides shade on a hot summer day. Looking forward to trying the risotto with sea scallops in the near future!
Great food, always consistent never disappoints me. The people that work there are always so gracious and the owner is always so hospitable. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys eating a good wholesome meal.
Service/atmosphere is relaxed elegance, which makes it a delight to dine here. Good food, excellent desserts & cocktails.
Had a lovely dinner there, it's a small place with tables too close together but the service is great and the food is really good. Definitely recommend!
Very friendly staff, and the food was so Good!!
A nice place. My wife and I were scouting new places and found an attractive place with an intimate cozy atmosphere. The food was great and creative. Prices were good. We enjoyed being there. Mira the host was very nice and welcoming. We will go back.
The food is delicious. I am a Cake Artist/Baker and let me tell you I had the best Chocolate Mousse. If you are a school lover get the chocolate mousse. I enjoyed their boneless short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes & vegetables. The best garlic mashed potatoes I've experienced in a restaurant. ❤️❤️🙌🏽 Reservations are strongly recommended
This was truly an amazing experience from being seated to paying our server for the delicious meal and excellent service. We had the sauteed/Pan seared octopus for starters which I highly recommend, the braised rib cannot be passed up, and the chocolate souffle was perfectly baked. The drinks from the bar were prompt and well mixed. Altho we never mentioned it, you made our birthday celebration a memorable one. 6 stars for this place!
I've only eaten here once, but I've stopped in for drinks many times. This is my go to place for a glass of wine after a summer show at Prospect Park. The bartenders have always been great. The one meal I had was amazing. The food was wonderful and the service was fast and friendly. I love the portion sizes. You get enough to be full, but they aren't there enormous ones that do many places serve nowadays. They have tons of out side seating.
The service here was very nice. No cocktails, but they do have wine and beer. The food was tasty.
That was totally delicious. My sister and I stopped in after a day of shopping. We picked this restaurant based on Google reviews alone and weren't disappointed! We had the brussels sprouts appetizer and the BLT that was on their brunch menu. Incredible! Then, dessert. Again, incredible!
One of our most favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food is always delicious, great wine list, and the service is fantastic. Not to mention, they have beautiful outdoor seating. All in all a great place to get a relaxing, charming, and delicious meal!
Nice looking space with super friendly, attentive service. Not bad prices either for the quality, even the wine list. Shared the octopus and saffron risotto .. the octopus could have had a little more char but very tasty; risotto was perfectly creamy with perfectly cooked shrimp. The branzino was cooked just right and could be shared the serving was that big. The other entree was a special, gnocchi with a short rib ragu and ricotta. While tasty it needed a little bit more flavor, seasoning .. something. Highly recommended
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mariela Italian Cuisine, and I must say, it was an exquisite experience from start to finish. This charming Italian restaurant offers a delightful culinary journey that left me eager to return. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The decor was elegant yet cozy, providing the perfect backdrop for indulging in the rich flavors of authentic Italian cuisine. Speaking of which, the food at Mariela Italian Cuisine was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish was expertly prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, showcasing the chef's mastery of traditional Italian recipes. From the homemade pasta to the mouthwatering sauces, every bite was a symphony of flavors that delighted the palate. But what truly set Mariela Italian Cuisine apart was the impeccable service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. From friendly greetings to attentive recommendations, their hospitality was second to none. Overall, my experience at Mariela Italian Cuisine was nothing short of delightful. The combination of delicious food, cozy ambiance, and exceptional service left a lasting impression, and I can't wait to return for another memorable meal. Whether you're a fan of Italian cuisine or simply looking for a top-notch dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend paying a visit to Mariela Italian Cuisine. You won't be disappointed.
The food was delicious. My sea bass was out of this world. My hubby's pasta too. I had the arugula salad and it was so good. Even the bread on the table was delicious. Service was excellent, attentive and professional.
Relaxed, rustic elegance - a magical spot with great food and wine selections at excellent prices. We loved the meatballs, braised short-ribs and the staff - hilarious and smart people who wanted us to enjoy ourselves. -- Next time, we'll work our way through the pastas - which looked delicious on the tables of our fellow diners.
My husband and my 3 children (grown-ups) took me to this Italian restaurant for Mother's Day. The best choice they ever did. The food was amazing, let's not forget about the staff and manager. Very polite, sweet and respectful staff. Our waitress was the best, she made us feel comfortable, she made us laugh a lot. The manager was very attentive to us. Sorry to hear that other customers had bad experience. It wasn't our case. I recommend Mariella.
We had a delicious dinner in a lovely room with bar and open kitchen. The wait staff is friendly and relaxed. We had the cabbage salad, which was refreshing and delicious. I had the salmon with kale, which was exceptionally delicious and beautifully prepared and presented and my husband had black linguine with clams, which was also lovely. Delicious bread and very tasty olive oil. I enjoyed my evening special white wine. We will go back.
Mariella is favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. The food is always absolutely delicious and well prepared. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We bring our toddler with us everytime and they are always welcoming and accommodates our seating preference when possible. They deserve the 5+ stars! Looking forward to my next visit.
This is a great neighborhood spot for authentic Italian cuisine. They currently have a good outdoor seating setup with heaters...truly the warmest outdoor heating dining situation I've experienced during covid. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back!
My experience the moment you enter the restaurant. You feel a positive, comfortable vibe. The atmosphere is very welcoming and pleasant. The service is prompt Very good drink and food menu. And the food is wall satisfying. Next time I go back. I will try out the outdoor seating.
Lovely mother-daughter Thanksgiving with no muss nor fuss.
Always delighted to eat here. The food, the atmosphere and the staff are all excellent. Squid ink pasta with salmon is my favorite. And they have great crème brûlée. Also loved the americano there.
My husband and I dined at Mariella tonight and were simply blown away! If we could give the food and the service 6 stars, we definitely would. I had the best gnocchi I've ever eaten, and my husband had tagliatelle with mushrooms and said the same. The waitress staff was quick, friendly and very accommodating, the restaurant itself was small, quiet -- what a blessing! -- and comfortable. And the parking was easy, just a few steps from the front door. We will be back bringing friends and introducing other diners to this terrific place!
Tempted to not share a 5 star review because I want to continue to be able to go last-minute BUT reviews are good for the restaurant so FINE I love this place. Been 3x, the waiter is so speedy, the bread is great, the prices actually feel like Brooklyn and not Manhattan (you can still find a bottle of wine for $36??) and even tho the plates are comically oversized the food is absolutely delicious. Wish there were more spots like this!
They really don’t make ‘em like this anymore! Charming corner spot in the heart of lower Park Slope, away from the over-saturated 7th Ave/11st area that has mediocre Italian options. Authentic, traditional, with some fresh twists on the classics. Service is always so warm and attentive, very efficient but not rushed, and very intuitive. The daily specials are always a hit. They are very patient with families with kids. Happy to have Mariella nearby!
While it isn’t a Michelin star restaurant you can’t beat it for a lovely night out. Food is fantastic, but if you aren’t a garlic fan DON’T order something with garlic… the kitchen loves garlic.! And that’s fine. Most importantly the service is fantastic. Servers knew the menu & wine list and we quick to make good suggestions based on our …. Suggestions as to what we might like. They Were super sweet and if we lived in the neighborhood we’d be regulars!
I feel like that was the best steak I’ve ever had! It’s four days later and I’m still thinking about it! My fiancé had the Ravioli Burro and I had the Hanger steak. She was very pleased with her plate as well. The service was great and it wasn’t very loud there at all. Will be back again! I would have added a photo but the food didn’t even make it😂
I have brought so many people here and everyone loves it. Bottles of wine under $40, great daily specials, a super sweet staff always (they really get hospitality!) and always a satisfying meal and a great atmosphere. A tasty and extensive dessert menu, large portions, and plump and pillowy large gnocchi. I hate to pump up a hidden gem in the neighborhood but they deserve the biz. Hopefully this review lets me cut the line if there’s a long wait next time.
I love this spot! Family friendly ! I messed up and was 30 minutes late to my reservation - this neighborhood spot is my kids’ fav spot. But the owner took pity on me and we had a blast!! Thank you ! Always get the penne with the Mariella sauce !
best Italian for miles. super fresh, outstanding menu, respectable sized portions, chill vibe.
I hope Mariella and I never break up. I fly to NYC twice a week just to eat here. I am NOT Taylor Swift.
Really nice Italian spot in a brownstone-style setting. Much more neighborhoody than the places on 5th or 7th. Food has been consistent and good, staff has always been nice. Go on a nice night and sit outside.
This place is so gosh darn cute!!! Me and my family have been going since it opened, and we've probably been there at least thirty times over the years. We have never, not once, ever had a bad meal here. This is New York Italian done beyond well!! The flavors are present but not overwhelming or stodgy, making for a light yet undeniably delicious meal. The interior is small but what it lacks in size it makes up for in both comfortability and also chic-ness! The tables are also not directly next to one another ( a symptom I've seen at places in the neighborhood ), giving you room to not only breathe but also not be overhearing every single word of the next table's conversation. The service is AMAZE!!! We're often sat in a brunette lady's section ( I've unfortunately never caught her name ) Even on their busiest nights, the waitress always stops and says hi - her service not only friendly but also efficient. We've never had to wait more than 20-30 mins after ordering to get our food. We go there so often I'll bet that she has our orders memorized! Great place, would so recommend.
Nice spot. If you go, try to have Gonzalo be your waiter, he was much friendlier than his colleague. He was so sweet and always had a smile on his face when engaging with customers. For food, we had the lobster ravioli, hanger streak, heirloom tomato salad and crostini. Wow, so so so good.
I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend, and we had a great experience. The food was really delicious, and the portions were big. We ordered pasta and chicken parmesan, and both dishes were full of flavor. The pasta was creamy and had a nice mix of ingredients, while the chicken was crispy and covered with melted cheese. The service was also really good. The staff was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The place had a cozy and romantic atmosphere, with candlelight on the table. The food was high quality but not too expensive, which made it even better. They also gave us fresh bread with olive oil, which was a nice touch. Overall, I would definitely come back. It’s a great place for a nice meal without spending too much.
Don't let the quiet Sunday atmosphere fool you – Mirella's ingenious Burrata BLT is a revelation. Went there with my partner for Sunday brunch. No expectations. Walked away with a smile and a promise to return for dinner. On this particular Sunday 2PMish, the restaurant was quiet, mostly empty, offering a calm, unhurried vibe. Our server was attentive and friendly, setting the tone for a relaxed meal. We ordered the BLT and the frittata. Both arrived before we'd had a chance to even sip the Cava. The fritatta's delicate mushroom notes proved the kitchen's talents. But it was the BLT that stole the show and will bring me back. Mirella has transformed the classic sandwich by introducing creamy fresh burrata cheese - slightly melted against crisp bacon, against even crispier ciabatta bread. The interplay of textures was masterful: The crusty bread crust gives way to the pillowy burrata, while the bacon provides a satisfying crunch. The study in contrasts simply works. Mirella's has managed to elevate the BLT - reinventing it while honoring what makes a BLT great in the first place. And isn't that what we're all hopeing for on a quiet Sunday afternoon? A reminder that sometimes the best discoveries happen when you least expect them?
Really cute cozy spot with amazing fresh Italian food. I really enjoyed the fried fritters (arancine) which were so nice and crispy over a bunch of delicious butter cooked mushrooms. The lobster ravioli was really flavorful with the cream flavor being extremely rich. I also really enjoyed the squid ink pasta with salmon, capers, olives over white wine tomato sauce. Extremely fresh tasting and you can really taste the great ingredients. Definitely will come back to try more of the nice little menu.
This place is a great Italian restaurant to go to for gluten free pasta! All their main dishes can be made with substitute gluten free pasta. Came here with my celiac friend and she was very happy to be able to choose. The ricotta ravioli were good, but I would mainly come back for the octopus appetiser! Cozy place, good service. Had a really nice time!
Mariella is the ideal neighborhood restaurant. It's cozy, delicious and the menu is priced reasonably enough that you can easily become a regular. Their food is very fresh, service is attentive and they have a nice wine list. They were smart to price bottles of wine very reasonably. Highly recommend it!
Really solid and flavorful food. No complaints. Definitely some of the better Italian in park slope
This was a place that has been on the radar for a few weeks. I must say the buffalo mozzarella special was good, and my salmon entree was delicious. The outdoor seating was nice but slightly crammed. I thought there should have been one more waitress/server. 4.5 stars.
Marcella is a pleasant neighborhood restaurant serving well prepares Italian food. It is small with a lovely outdoor area so be prepared to wait. I've been there 3 times and been happy with the dishes as have my companions. Reasonable prices, attentive service and a friendly atmosphere.
Taste Okay, Ambience Quaint The 4 of us went here for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was full, but there was a table outdoors. Service was great, the menu limited, food just okay and location and setting good.
Nothing is wrong with this restaurant, but certainly not my favorite in the neighborhood. I went for brunch the other day and my poached eggs were a bit under cooked, as in part of the whites of the egg were still transparent. I probably won’t be back for brunch, but I will give it another chance for dinner or lunch.
Very small neighborhood Italian neighborhood restaurant. Indoor and outdoor; there is even a tiny table for two at the curb. My wife & I were seated quickly. The staff was nice enough, and attentive, even though it was very busy. Three servers taking care of everyone. Open kitchen, which I always find nice. I had veal and water (beer and wine only), my wife shrimp risotto & a Bellini. Everything was fine. But the place is just too cramped for me. And exhibits zero personality.
Delightful outside dining in a quiet residential neighborhood. Great friendly service and most importantly great pasta. In these troubled times, this is a place of refuge. No complaints with my dog accompanying me for this pleasurable dining experience. Wished I had room for the tartufo.
Great food and atmosphere. Prices are what you'd expect from a somewhat upscale Italian place in Park Slope. My only complaint is that the portion sizes were a bit off. But that's comparing it to cheaper pizzerias in the area where I've gotten similar food, so not a completely fair complaint from me.
We ordered two of the specials: the beef ragú gnocchi and the wild mushroom truffle tagliatelle. Honestly I wasn’t impressed… Portions were large. Quality was lacking. The gnocchi was too bulky and unflavorful, though the ragú was alright (beef was nicely braised). The tagliatelle was a bit better, creamy with tons of mushrooms. All in all food was decent and we ate it all cuz we were starving, but it wasn’t particularly great and it left me wishing I stuck with the spots I know and love. Not worth the money for me.
I was very disappointed with the quality. I ordered stuffed zucchini flowers. The coating was very thick and hid the flavor of the flower itself. The Arincini, which is traditionally a rice ball was served flat as a pancake. Not a good presentation.
Our food was good, but we felt very rushed. From the moment we sat down, I felt like the staff wanted us to order, eat, pay and leave with the utmost haste. If you’re looking to eat and promptly leave, this is someplace you should consider. If you’re looking to enjoy a meal with your family or group, I recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of other options nearby.
Good but not great food at the neighborhood Italian restaurant. There starter of octopus was excellent, although I'm not sure that the combination with squash worked. Not enough contrast of texture. I was a little disappointed with the main course offerings on the menu. Nothing very interesting or adventurous. I went for the pork medallions with prosciutto and fontina. The pork was actually escallops rather than medallions, better put a dictionary in the kitchen, so it was rather dry and tasteless. The sauce was also a bit boring. My wife had the prawn risotto, which was ok, but again lacked the flavour punch. It wasn't terrible, but not great, although the atmosphere was great, as was the service.
Love the wine and service here! They have a decent menu and ambiance. I was disappointed in my food unfortunately. The homemade squid ink pasta was super sticky and the sauce just wasn't good. I do think we will try it again and hope to have better dishes.
Great spot and amazing service. Unfortunately, the food was pretty lacking given the prices of $25 plus per plate. We started with the eggplant burrata. The eggplant and sauce was very good, but the burrsta was very underwhelming and not at all creamy. For our mains we got the black fettuccini with salmon, and veal w/ potatoes. The black fettuccini was good as was the sauce, but the salmon tasted a bit overcooked and honestly not fresh. The veal was unlike any veal I've had, with random lemon telling me the seasonings weren't spread evenly, and was incredibly chewy. Again the service was great, solid wine and beer list, but the food was underwhelming given their prices. I'm hesitant to recommend, perhaps a good stop for drinks after a meal or maybe stick to the regular menu pasta dishes?
lovely setting, outside seating, friendly staff . the food is a very different and a truly sad story though. had the ribs hash for brunch - tasted like something improvised by a bunch of hung over frat boys at the dorm from three days old leftovers. an epic heartburn ensued.
This review is just for the orzo --- there may well be perfectly better dishes at this cute restaurant. But the orzo was awful. Tasteless and gloppy.
I was expecting so much from this cute, highly rated restaurant. The red wines by the glass were not drinkable. The Octopus wasnt grilled and wet,the expensive Halibut had a Caramel sauce, which should have been on my ice cream. Service was great and staff very friendly. Would not go again.
Overall items were okay but lacking flavor - I wouldn't go again. Short ribs looked like a box - moist but bland like the vegetables. Ravioli was a bit dry, sage flavor stood out awkwardly. Papardelle with lamb was missing any distinctive flavor. Grilled octopus was nice and bouncy but the vegetables adjacent were bland. Lots of other better options in the area
We were so excited for our dinner as this place has exceptional reviews. On the plus side, great kind service and ambiance. When it comes to the food, much was left to be desired. We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 mains to split. Out of everything, the burrata and truffle mushroom pasta were nice. Every other dish tasted like tomato paste/sauce with few seasons or flavors. Most notably was the lack of salt. In all, this place could be great but seems they left all their spices at home that day. Wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.
