When I was 3 years old my Father used to take me to Ruby's Bar& Grill Coney Island on the Broadwalk and when I was 7 years old I remember my Dad told me that the same way that he's taking me to this establishment is the same way with his father will bring him when he was my age this was my father's regular thing he would do when he was young and his father had passed away he will go to Ruby's Bar and Grill and spend time there and reminisce and that's what I do now this establishment has it all ambience great customer service beautiful scenery and of course the food and the drinks I come here every summer on the weekends I get there around 11:00 so I can get the first seating I do this every year every summer it's what I love to do

Great place to get a drink and some food. It's one of the oldest Coney Island landmarks. You will feel it once you walk in. You can also sit outside on the boardwalk which is super nice.

What a great place, Ironically my Grandfather used to take me there as a kid in the 1970’s Apparently this place has been open since the 30’s. I went there at the beginning of April with my Family and we had delicious food and cold beer. The staff was great to us and even the owner Mike came out to make sure that we were having a good time. I really appreciate a place where they care about the customer . I will Definitely be back and I recommend that you go there and have a ice cold beer. We stopped by on Father’s Day around 5pm and had a beer. Great friendly environment with a jukebox-playing classic rock. We can’t wait to come back and be able to sit-relax and have a few beers.

The food hit the spot, but what really gives Ruby’s five stars is the service! We came on a Saturday afternoon, it’s busy, but a staff member (maybe the manager or owner) helped our group of 7 people find two tables we could put together, after we said no, it’s okay we will just stand. He went above and beyond!!

The best and most friendly colorful people, patrons and staff alike and I see some comments about the prices, however any boardwalk is the same ,a great view but your hours are limited and I'm sure insurance is unbelievable,,keep up the good work 😁

Came here for the first time Saturday Memorial Day weekend. The sausage and peppers was delicious. The service was really great especially when you consider the fact that it’s a boardwalk bar and the amount of people that come through, especially tourists, means they really don’t have to be so friendly and accommodating but yet, they still were. There’s also a group of characters that camp out in front that are just awesome.

I lost my phone here and one of the people working was kind enough to hold it, and give it back to me. The ice cream was delicious and the customer service was amazing!

This is right on coney island, it's a nice little spot. Has a view of the ocean if you sit at the bar. Has nice cheap meals (carnival prices I think) I got a 5 piece wing here once for 5 dollars. Beers are about 7 dollars and I think about any cocktail is 12/13 dollars. It's the smaller clear cup sizes. But they dont go cheap with the alcohol. It's a really nice spot to give a try. Really friendly people. Everyone is always smiling everytime I come. Has a joke box. Plenty of room to see the ocean.

Ruby’s soft-serve ice cream is different from the other stuff - it’s almost like ice-milk. Had the chocolate vanilla twist and it was delectable!

Wow this place was unbelievably busy during mermaid parade and they managed to return my credit card to me that I dropped in line. I couldn't believe it. The owner was there and making sure everything was the best it could be. The service was surprisingly quick for a beach cafe and the food was delicious, fresh hot and comforting ! exactly the nourishment I needed to keep enjoying the beautiful, exciting and slightly overwhelming event. I'm so glad I chose this spot.

My family and I have been going to this spot for a few years now and we really like it there. Food is 10/10 and the service is on point. They do keep the place clean as well. They have in door as well as outdoor dining and a bar. Highly recommended if you're on the boardwalk and looking for a bite to eat.

We were there for a coney island day on a Saturday plus a Brooklyn cyclones game, kids had a blast on the rides and we stopped for a very quick lunch, place was very crowded and very expensive but all places there are expensive, food was excellent, menu was very simple(very important because of the big lines), order was ready in 4-5 minutes, sitting area is not too big so we headed for a shade on the stairs right across, overall we liked it better then the other options

I have been wanting to go to this place for quite some time, but it is usually always packed. I finally got my chance this past weekend to stop in for a couple of drinks while it wasn't too busy. I didn't try the food, so this review is based on service, vibe, and beverages. I sat at the bar, and the drinks I was served were good. Place has a really cool vibe, and I didn't realize they had quite a bit of indoor dining besides the bar and outside. Prices for the drinks weren't too bad. Pretty standard for the area. Besides food and drinks, they also sell souvenir shirts, tank tops, etc. This spot should definitely be on your list to check out as this place is a landmark on Coney Island.

We visited Ruby's Bar and Grill for lunch when we went to Coney Island recently. We tried their fish and chips and veggie burger along with some cocktails. The food was very tasty, although I would say that the portion size is a bit small for what you pay. The drinks were amazing and were just what we needed on a hot day. They have indoor and outdoor seating available and are pretty quick with service.

This is my favorite dive bar in Coney island. I try to go once a year, but missed the last 2 years. I'm glad that COVID has changed little about the place. I do miss not being able to sit at the bar, but the drinks are just as good and the staff is just as welcoming.

The food was good enough. I'm not sure if the vegetarian burgers are vegan or not, the we're okay. The sweet potato fries were good. The wait was long-ish.

This place is a hoot. We come here every year for the Kentucky Derby. Good variety of draft beer and good bourbon. Locals swing by, the jukebox is always playing awesome music, can’t complain. My only negative is that they do not have clams today, bummer. GO, SIERRA LEONE! 🐎

Our order was ready in less than 10minutes. The food was excellent, we had the chicken tenders with sweet potato fries, cheeseburger and turkey burger. (Turkey Burger was my favorite!)

the place is here since 1934, and has some history to it. The food offered is mostly fried, I sampled waffle fries and they tasted good. Has always lines to order food, really busy during afternoons. It's right on broad walk, so one can enjoy the food with the view, as there is sitting available on the deck as well as inside.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere. The two older gentleman working the bar were quite polite, and did a great job pouring drinks. They would have improved addressing customers as they came in and waited in line but I am empathetic because that place gets quite busy. I caught the subway from Manhattan to Coney Island just for a corn dog and a beer and Rudy’s did not disappoint. Great selection and good old American food

THE fun bar along the Coney Island Boardwalk. A must stop if you're thirsty and looking for a good time. Great people watching, plenty of room in the back along with a popular jukebox! Bartenders were friendly, we stuck to beer but plenty of other options. Basic menu of typical bar food, which seemed ok! Enjoy!

We came here for an early lunch after a stroll along the beach. We thought the decor was pretty cool and the old time photos of the area during summer was crazy! We both ended up having chicken tenders and fries (didn’t like the fries that much) although the chicken tenders were nice and crispy! Wish we came later in the day to indulge in some of their cocktails but a little to early at that stage!

Great location! Average fried food fare. I got a knish and a corn dog...the knish was great. The corn dog was a corn dog. My fiancé rolled the dice with the fried clams...and didn’t get sick. And they were as advertised. My future mom-in-law got a cheeseburger. Which was undercooked. Beer was served ice cold in a plastic cup.

Had a funnel cake, it was sweet and nice. But I have a question - it said 6$ on the menu but the worker said it is 7$ and charged me 7$. Has the price gone up? I was busy at that moment and didn't ask.. but I am curious.

I've been there to have lunch... Not the best experience. Seems a better place for having a drink. Staff was friendly and responsive, although a lot of people ordering and asking for things. The food was barely acceptable, but the fries where pure oily venom. Not pricey, although the location is super convenient.

Was charged more than what the bartop beer menu states. Not nice. Ah. You were very busy and it was hot. I wasn't about to ask for a manager over this. Just please print on the bartop menu what the beers actually cost, and you're done. I love your place. What I experienced was not cool.

It's fine, drinks are really expensive, food less so, veg burger was completely average/dull. It's the only place with a toilet for miles apart from the public one opposite that closes at 4pm - this place then puts up a "restroom out of order" sign which is just to deter the hundreds of desperate people on the boardwalk. It's an okay place to sit and watch the world walk by.

Crazy busy! The one bar tender is spectacular! She takes good care of the bar as the customers come and go with their demands! She is terrific. It would be helpful for her as well a bit more comfortable if she had a second person with her. I wanted another beer as i sat at the bar but too many customers crowd ing me as they ordered. But there was plenty of room, i dont get it. I went outside, didnt order a second beer. Didnt eat either. $9 a beer at all the restaurants, not happy about that. But, Ruby’s is fine.

Not much to say about this place. It's like any other spot on the boardwalk, if you happen to be there on the right day and time you'll enjoy it. Other times it's packed and full of obnoxious people. And when that happens, like it did once, you spend most of your time trying to get the attention of the bartender. Very overpriced, but that was expected, and I don't remember anything about the drinks. Which means they weren't impressive.

Service was great. Didn't order food but did see more than half of tables with food on them. Boardwalk bar and grill with really good service. Bartender was flying solo n managed to keep up with just about everybody within minutes and was attentive. We kept changing beers and drinks to try different things. Then we were told of local brewery that features their beers. Awesome suggestion for us since we like visiting local breweries. Stop in for a drink. Best Boardwalk watering hole..

Only shrimp menu is ok. French fries and the chicken wings are awesome. Beers are medium quality. I could not understand that how it was chosen number 1 in the coney island bars competition. Thus, the others are worse. The ambiance is pretty good but all it is.

Food is bad. Had fish and chips, don't recommend. Very oily, like lots of other reviews say. Beer is good, outside area is nice.

Horrible food. Lack of customer service. Chicken tenders seemed to be straight out the pack into rhe flour then into the fire. No seasoning and that "chickeny" taste. The turkey burger didn't even come with lettuce or tomato. You couldn't tell the bbq sauce from the ketchup. I will never return to this spot. Better head to Nathan's and leave this joint alone.

I’ll give credit where credit is due in part to the service and the overall vibe of this place, it’s very chill, kind workers, old school boardwalk bar that really takes you back in time as u look around at their decor. With abundant seats, ceiling and oscillating fans this place was very comfortable to be in. However getting down the food, it was pretty bad. Super greasy for no reason, ordered chicken tenders, waffle fries, funnel cake and a veggie burger. Funnel cake was amazing not gonna lie. For the chicken tenders, I was not expecting enlarged Kid’s cuisine chicken breast strips dipped in the deep frier that left oil oozing with every bite, and left me to deal with severe nausea throughout the night. The waffle fries were also unnecessarily super greasy, not the worst thing from our order though.The veggie burger (tasted more like a nyc public school lunch burger) gave my boyfriend food poisoning for sure, he’s still dealing with plenty of abdominal pain and all the other unsavory symptoms that come with it. If you come here, go for the alcoholic beverages and funnel cake, that’s it. Even the blue raspberry Slush Puppies were garbage, tasted more like cough syrup with an absurd amount of sugar with no flavor payoff.

I visit the boardwalk quite frequently in the summer time. I wanted to try something other than Nathan's so I tried Ruby's. Big mistake everything tasted off. The chicken tenders didn't look like chicken. The burger was bland,2 pieces of lettuce. The sausage sandwich was another story. All in all I won't be visiting this spot anymore. It's a prime location, just needs better food.

Service was fine and they were nice. So this review is not meant to reflect badly on the workers. But the food is awful. The fries tasted like cheap store bought stuff that were left in a freezer, and the burger, while not offensive, just lacked flavor and was incredibly dry. The bun itself seemed stale. Bar drinks were also disappointing. It all just tastes fake; and piña colada was like nothing but syrupy imitation coconut with no noticeable pineapple. The music playing on the jukebox was also extremely loud and annoying, which made it difficult to hear them call when the order was ready. overall 2/10. would not recommend unless u like throwing away money

i ordered a personal pizza it was small for over 9.00 not worth the price. It took forever to be handed to me and it was burnt when i received it. Their "system" seems really disorganized and chaotic I think most patrons go there for the drinks and for the atmosphere.

First of all the customer service is the worst I’ve ever received. Second, the food was disgusting. Ordered the mozzarella sticks which were undercooked. & the Pepsi i ordered was flat. Third, not clean at all lol. Seriously a joke…never coming back here.

Worst pizza I've ever seen in my life. I went to this place on Coney Island and wanted Chicken Tenders but in order to pay with my card, I had to spend at least $10 so I ordered a pizza and a drink. They didn't have any more of the first two choices of drink I wanted so that was already bad. I got my tenders and then had to wait another 10 to 15 minutes for the pizza. When I got the pizza, it legitimately looked like a piece of toasted bread covered in two layers of melted white American cheese. It looked disgusting. I tried to take off a little bit of the cheese and it came up like a carpet, and the sauce under it looked like a thick tomato paste. I tried to make the best of what they gave me, but the pizza crust was really hard and I couldn't even bend it without breaking the pizza...and to make matters worse, I threw it up when I got home. I can't remember the last time I threw up, it may have been in Elementary school. Stay away from this place, unless you're just going to the bar or you want some chicken tenders (they were alright, although they gave me no sauce/ketchup), there are plenty of better food places right near it and I will never make that mistake again.

To be fair, I was there on an unusually warm day (02/20/17), off season. I HOPE TO GOD they have an "A-Team" with professional equipment for High Season. The people that were "Working?" there yesterday..... There are no words to describe... I just haven't stopped laughing. There are times when it is just so bad, you don't get mad, or insult people.....you just walk away and laugh. I worked in a place like this for many years as a boy, i know how it is suppose to work. Now the food..... Supermarket, cheap frozen food, prepared in a $50, single mini-basket Hamilton Beach Fryolater. PS- Lady? peal your cheese and quarter turn the slices back for easier pealing when you need it in a hurry, and don't smash the burger to get the juices out and try to make it cook faster....just turn the grill up higher. I understand at this time, you are the only place (or two) running, and it is off season, but that is no excuse to not get things done correctly. it doesn't take much. My Corn Dog was barely warm inside. I think If you can't "Run it" right during off season...leave it closed? until the Big Boys come back?

The worst experience ever, the waiter kicked me out of the table while I was waiting for the beers I told him my husband was getting beers and I was waiting for him and he said "those are the Ruby's rules". By the way, the beer was warm and gross. Please, if you are having a wonderful time in Coney island, as I was, don't go to that place.

Quite possibly the worst cheeseburger I've ever had in my life. Completely bland beef, no salt, buns weren't toasted, and the cheese was cold. The only thing on it was a single piece of lettuce. The funnel cake is the only reason we stopped by this place and even that was bad. The dough was stiff as a rock and there was a diabetes-inducing amount of powered sugar. I know its not meant to be a healthy food but you don't need to dump the entire bag onto it.

Went on a Monday and got two frozen pina coladas. $17 a piece. Didn't know the price until the bartender said it and honestly was pretty blown away by the price. This place is a bit pricey normally, but not posting the prices of the most expensive drink you have is shady.

I was trying to be kind to this business by holding off on my review or contacting any press/media giving them chance after chance to make it right but I’ve been ignored consistently on June 18th 2024 after traveling from Massachusetts I dined here at rubys with my best friend from Finland in the picture as u can see there is a bag of ice on the table I was severely injured by an umbrella that wasn’t properly secured by the establishment staff in one of the tables next to me as I was chatting with another group of customers I was hit pretty hard in the head as it flew out from one of the tables when it was a bit windy other customers rushed to help get it off me my best friend as well as many patrons and employees witnessed this incident but failed to accommodate me, didn’t care if I was ok no manager came out when I asked to speak with one multiple times no incident report has done I didn’t wanna make this public and I didn’t wanna have to make this a legal issue but this restaurant has done nothing to help me and this is completely there mistake they have a duty to keep there guests as well as employees safe and since they haven’t answered my numerous phone calls over the past month except one time and told me to call back at a time which I did about 5 times and had no answer I’ve been suffering severe migraines since the incident has occurred and this is not ok I’d never recommend this establishment unfortunately I had a horrible experience and nobody cared not ok at all!!! A bag of ice you see on the table is all they did to account head injury after we had to ask the waitstaff multiple times this is ridiculous customer service I’ve waitresses for over 10 years and never seen another restaurant establishment handle something so poorly in my life.

I was assaulted in their establishment... right outside by the tables and chairs on the boardwalk. I ran inside for help. And the male and female server or bartenders I'm not sure... we're rude and told me to leave. Common sense if I'm asking for help and for 911. You should call ... but no they just turned me away. Stopped going to couple of bad customers. Owners weak trying to please all as people pleasers backfired. I stopped going. Update 1st June 2024. Seems owners learned that trying to keep everyone happy including bad people causes good people. So they changed their outdoors seating now with cocktail tables and limited tables with just one table in the area bad customers sat all the time so maybe the bad customers will stop going and I will start coming back giving them a new try and up their rating. Is good owners listen to good customers so that is positive. Update 8th June 2024. Well back to sit down tables so bad customer is back. Wow I just clicked on sort by lowest and seems lots of bad reviews so I am not alone. Update mid-July 2024 heard they jacked up the prices on July 4th. They look to make a killing with jacked up prices on memorial day and mermaid parade day and 4th july and labor day that drives customers away for the rest of the year. Being a nice guy/girl to try to please all customers does Not work as in pleasing the few toxic jerks you lose all the non-toxic good-character great customers! The owner needs to read the book "No more Mr nice guy" by Roger Glover.

I don't appreciate the way that one of the male employees was confrontational with my mom and I during our visit to the beach this afternoon. He kept complaining that her and I were taking up seats for paying customers. However, I was able to produce three separate receipts for purchases that I made at this establishment. Granted we had already got rid of our trash. However, he continued to be quite adamant about making us leave despite my mom's physical limitations.

Once again the owner is still standing around like a mob boss taking account of who is eating what. Get over it, get over yourself, people eat different food on the boardwalk and we pay to eat yours as well as others. If you don’t like it and can’t handle it, shut down your restaurant and move to a private location.

Food was awful. Burgers tasted like bland corned beef; even with hit sauce I couldn’t eat half if it. Chicken tenders were slightly burnt, batter was too thick and tasteless. The music was good and the seating outside a welcome rest spot.

I ordered a lobster roll to go and I’m certain it wasn’t lobster at all. It was more than likely imitation crab in its shredded form with an almost identical taste and texture of a Kani salad you would order from a Japanese restaurant. I have never had a lobster roll in which the meat was completely shredded and bathed in mayo. Not one single chunk of recognizable lobster meat. I wasn’t able to come back and voice my suspicion or concern as I was headed to the aquarium with my family. That being said, I wouldn’t give this place a second chance.

DO NOT GO HERE The food was okay, but i got kicked out while eating there because of “Rubys rules” whatever that means…. I had just gotten my food and the chef literally came from behind the grill and said no outside food as if I wasn’t just at the register.
