Loved this place and the hot dogs were amazing. Margarita was good too. Interior decor is skate themed with chairs and plates made from old boards and lots of skated themed wall art.
This is a local gem. I usually come here off hours and it’s been great so far. They have a great vegan option and awesome happy hour deals. Also just super chill at mid day on Saturdays or Sundays.
Always a fun time at Santa Salsa. The crew is amazing and so is the food. You will have a great time here all days of the week. Opens early and closes late.
I am pleased to say i was not disappointed. Staff members delivered superior service. This place never drops below excellence. You'll find every corner clean and properly illuminated. I'd confirm this place is worth visiting.
Here’s a NED-style review of Santa Salsa (Portland, OR): --- ✅ What Works Well - Venezuelan Street Food Done Right: Specializes in arepas, pepitos, and choripanes — bold, flavorful, and satisfying. - Vegan & Veg Options: Plenty of plant-based choices, like vegan choripán and soy-based fillings, without compromising on flavor. - Cool, Artsy Vibe: Located inside the Lil' America food cart pod, the spot has a fun, punk-rock aesthetic with a creative, underground feel. - Late-Night Friendly: Open later than many spots — good for post-drinks or casual night eats. - Community Favorite: Locals love the energy, staff friendliness, and authenticity. --- 👎 What to Watch Out For - Outdoor-Only Seating: Food cart setting means weather can affect comfort; limited covered seating in bad weather. - Not “Lite” Fare: It’s indulgent street food — expect heavy sauces, fried items, and big portions. - Hit-or-Miss Wait Times: During peak hours or events, wait times for food can stretch a bit. - Cashless Only: Some reviewers note it’s card-only or cashless, so plan ahead. --- 🎯 Verdict Santa Salsa is a must-try for Latin street food lovers — bold flavors, laid-back vibes, and a fun twist on Venezuelan classics.
This place has become my go-to spot for reliable good food. The difference is clear in the taste. Every staff member shows real warmth. This spot's interior has always felt welcoming. I find this place exceptional in every way.
💖💖I had such a great experience 🫶🏻🫶🏻✨✨at Santa Salsa, and a big part of that was thanks to the amazing bartender, Lucas. He had the best energy ✨🥳🥳so kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. You can tell he really looks out for his customers and makes sure everyone feels safe, comfortable, and welcome. He's an Argentinian guy, super fun and full of good vibes, and honestly, he was the one who gave me the confidence to sing that night!! My friend and I had such a cool night, thanks to him and the lovely girl who also took care of us💖💖✨
I love this Dive Bar, makes me feel like i’m at home. Cozy environment and staff that takes care of you (specially Abi, she always knows what i want to order). Karaoke nights are a must. A lot of fun and nice dancing.
This restaurant needs your attention now. Santa Salsa serves varieties that satisfy my cravings. The team showed kindness beyond professional courtesy. Their costs make sense and dishes taste just-made. I will try more items on the menu next time.
I had such a good time eating at this restaurant. The offerings here showcase expert knowledge. The personnel's attitude deserves special mention. The setting shows objectives, the team is devoted, and it creates a unique space within city confines. This establishment creates a relaxing atmosphere.
What can we say about Santa Salsa? This place is awesome! Thanks to Yuyi, we had fantastic service. A must visit if you love toppings, love hot dogs, and love chill vibes in a bar/restaurant setting. Graffiti is everywhere. The place is small and the taste is huge. Having a Venezuelan hot dog is a unique experience. All the sauces are deliciously adventurous, and so are the choices in food. Stay true to Venezuelan street food and try the Perro Con Todo. A true original in any Venezuelan Hot Dog food stand. You will not be disappointed. I wait for the moment we can go back to this place! Recommended: Perro Con Todo, Tostones, Tequeños, Yuka, Criminal Burger, and Especial Burger.
It was really good! Wasn’t sure what to expect but turned out to be really fun and a new tasty treat on a Sunday afternoon. Staff was friendly and efficient. The menu is clear and easy to read right in front of the restaurant. The outdoor seating is spacious and clean. Prices were reasonable and everything tasted freshly made to order with fresh Ingredients. Cool vibe and close to the train. We just parked and walked around afterwards.
First time having a venezuelan street food. I pretty much enjoyed the vegetarian hotdogs I swear that there is a hotdog between the buns but NO! ..just filled with goodness taste with a crunch. I love the decor inside too! A must try!
Santa Salsa, Bushwick’s Late Night Love Letter to Venezuela (with a few typos in the bun) Santa Salsa doesn’t try to be cool, it just is. The kind of place where music spills out onto Starr Street, and the neon glow feels earned, not curated. It’s Bushwick personified, gritty, joyful, and a little chaotic in the best way. Paula from Spain was my amazing server, friendly without the performative charm, knowledgeable without the ego. You get the sense she actually eats here, which is always the right kind of endorsement. Now, the food. Let’s start with the hot dog, which is less a dish, and more a dare. The toppings, crunchy, creamy, tangy, and unapologetically maximalist, are a triumph. Whoever’s in charge of the sauce choreography deserves a raise. But the bun? A tragic miscast. It’s the kind of supermarket afterthought that dissolves on contact with joy. And the frank itself, plain, forgettable, a background actor in its own show. The result: a glorious mess that begins with a landslide of toppings, and ends with you wondering what could’ve been. Swap in a sturdy, toasted roll, and a sausage with some snap and seasoning, and you’ve got a contender for NYC’s best dog. As it stands, it’s a beautiful disaster. The Tostones Carne, though? No notes. Thick tostones with just the right crisp / chew ratio, topped with tender steak that’s charred like it’s been kissed by a Brooklyn summer grill. Cheese, sauce, and meat all play nice, no one overpowering, everyone contributing. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite, and nod to no one in particular. Santa Salsa is open until 2am, which feels spiritually correct. It’s the kind of place you stumble into after midnight, half hungry, half heartbroken, and leave with greasy fingers and a renewed sense of purpose. The vibe is dive bar meets Venezuelan street party, and the menu leans hard into comfort food with flair, burgers with ham and avocado, fries topped with steak, and sandwiches stuffed with chorizo and grilled cheese. In short: come for the tostones, stay for the chaos, and pray they upgrade that bun before your next visit.
Came here looking for salsa dancing expecting I may have found my people that like to dance at 8pm like the flyer said…was not the case. Apparently it may have started much later, like 10pm. Anyways, was able to try the hotdogs, they were good. It’s a cool vibe, def a place I’d bring my friends to try something new ish and good music
Perfect hippy atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Amazing music. Delicious food. We took “La Bomba” and “Doble Play” burgers and enjoyed a lot. Although we were starving, we were real full at the end. I just didnt like the French fries and the table outside was really dirty. Even the guy cleaned it, it couldnt before clean. Prices are fair, for the taste I can even say they are cheap. Venezuelan people are what they eat! Put one star away due to the dirt, but still recommend high!
The perro con todo used to be fantastic, but I ordered it after a while and it was cold and there were no chips on top. Very disappointed. Please go back to the old style of hot perro con todos
Travelled from Toronto and came to try the "best" hotdog in NYC and it didn't deliver on the experience... also, Polar beer must be served ice-cold. Food was okay but I guess the server/bartender was not having his best day.
I spent almost $40 on DoorDash buying 4 “perros con todo” and they’re dry and cold they don’t even put garlic sauce on the side. So mad and disappointed.
Went there for karaoke, the Argentinian bartender was hogging the mic the whole time, he probably did 40 percent of all the songs that night. He was also rude and when I tried to order a Drink he told me explicitly to not order from him and to wait for the other bartender, she was very sweet and I saw him do the same thing to other guests that had a darker complexion. Maybe I’m overthinking but it came off colorist and I’ve been to Santa salsa time and time again and never felt like this. Maybe it it was a one off but other people in the space that were my skin tone agreed and also felt this way
feel terrible about leaving a negative review for this place. I’ve known Sergio for a long time and truly admire what he’s built with Santa Salsa—from a humble cart to a Brooklyn institution. This was my neighborhood bar for many years, and I’ve met some wonderful people here, including several staff members I respect greatly. Unfortunately, today I had the worst experience I’ve ever had here, with a bartender who appeared to be from Argentina. His attitude was extremely rude and arrogant. He accused my girlfriend of being racist simply because she spoke to him in English how were we supposed to know he spoke Spanish? His behavior remained rude and sarcastic, and when we received the check (we had planned to tip in cash), he threw it in our direction and told us to get out. I was with my service dog, who has been a regular visitor at Santa Salsa for years. Shockingly, the bartender threatened to call the police on us. I told him to go ahead, as my dog has a federal service animal ID. I’ve always loved Santa Salsa and never imagined I’d have an experience like this here. As a business owner myself, I would never hire someone who treats customers this way. I truly hope action is taken so this type of incident doesn’t happen again.
