I've been frequenting The Garage since they first opened and have never been disappointed. Lisa, Joe and the entire crew ALWAYS deliver on great food and great service. Oh, and btw, their cinnamon rolls are THE BEST in the 716! Tonight they accommodated our party of 13 and everyone had a fabulous time. If you haven't gone yet, what the hell are you waiting for???
The breakfast burger is the perfect hangover cure. And the cinnamon rolls are a perfect sweet treat. Can’t recommend enough!
Good place for a beer and a quick bite. Italian wings are very good but rich. So 10 is enough. But very good. Stuffed peppers are great, definitely get the Italian logs and service is nice. Good time for sure.
Recently visited for the first time last weekend and it was a fantastic experience. We initially just wanted to look around real quick and see what the place looked like, but decided to stay for a few drinks because of how welcoming the staff was. We wound up sitting outside and chatting with the two bartenders, twins, for quite a while and we definitely plan on going back! The outside section was much larger than we anticipated it to be and it looks like a great place for some music. Definitely plan on going back when the have a dj or live music.
I saw a video about The Garage on my FB Feed and decided to give it a try. I know many of you traditionalist will laugh at me, but these are the best wings in Buffalo. We had the Sicilian Wings. Compared to most restaurants, they were huge. They are floored and prepared to a wonderful crisp. The Sicilian Sause was to absolutely die for; sweet, spicy and tangy. For my main course I had a sandwich called The Ferrari. If you get it, make sure to add the stuffed banana pepper. I really can't say enough about The Garage
Well, first time to this site .Intention to hear some local music ( # 1 drummer in buffalo was in the band) I was super thrilled with the endorsement of good parking next door, and service and food were good too:) Definitely going back for more local music
Absolutely one of the best places I have been to in a very long time! The only thing is I wish the place was a bit bigger. The food was fantastic had a Turkey panini and boy friend had meatloaf sandwich. I tried his omg it was amazing. My panini was perfect. The fries were perfect. Price is really great too. My son is waiting to try this place when he comes home from college this week, he's an auto tech guy and loves the story behind it. Perfect spot. Waitress was so nice and great we doubled the top. We will be back to try out the patio for summer can't wait to bring friends here!
The food here is great and absolutely love the atmosphere. Very spacious but still feels welcoming like a local bar (I hate how crammed dive bars are!) Service is always good too.
Great experience overall. Food choices are unique. Service was top notch. Got a chance to chit chat with our server and Lindsey was a doll! Highly recommended. Cinnamon bun was amazing and there bloody mary was tasty not too spicy.
Mom and I came today right when they opened for an early Mother's Day breakfast. Couldn't have asked for better food or nicer people. She had coffee and a breakfast sandwich with hashbrowns. I had a latte and the breakfast plate with over easy eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. We also got a cinnamon bun to go which we had later and it was delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked and our server couldn't have been nicer. Such a cool atmosphere too. We will definitely be returning! Thanks!
This place is awesome. Great Homemade food. Cool atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Music several times a week. Just left our first time in about a year. Many changes. The beer garden is a much better setup now. Stage inside is wonderful for live bands. Even more variety of food choices
Great food and concept! The hype around the cinnamon buns is real, so get there early before they sell out! The garage burger is one of the best burgers I've had from anywhere--simply perfect. The Cadillac is a fantastic sandwich as well.
My husband and I had lunch here on Valentine's Day. This was our first visit at the Garage Cafe & Lounge and I must say, it will not be our last. Customer service was on point from the time we walked in the door up until we left. Our meals were fresh and delicious. My husband is hard to please when we go out to eat and he really enjoyed his meal. Can't wait to try the cinnamon roll so, we will be back.
Been thinking about coming here for a while so we finally pulled the trigger. Food and beverages were great! We sat outside on a warm, not hot, night which was great. not a lot of people and it was quiet out there so we could have a conversation and not be yelling at everyone. I feel like if we had sat inside it would've been loud though, so not sure how it'll be when it's colder outside and everyone is forced to be inside.
Had brunch at The Garage today. Previous visit was for lunch which was amazing and today was even better. Had the breakfast sandwich, Italian style. Delicious! And purchased one of the huge cinnamon rolls to take home for a treat later. Can't wait!
This has become one of my new favorite bars/ restaurant. It has a great selection on tap, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the food has been awesome every time. The staff is attentive and very friendly. When my family was in town, I took them here and they still bring up how awesome the food was.
We love the Garage Cafe! It's a great little treasure on Hertel. The food is excellent and the staff is always so accommodating. We voted for them for Buffalo's best Bloody Mary and couldn't believe they didn't win 🙁 I love what they've done with the back and look forward to enjoying more music filled nights this summer!
Fantastic breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was delicious! I really wanted to eat another one, but I just couldn’t. And then those cinnamon rolls. Oh man. My friend would let me have more than a bite because of my diabetes, but my god, that one bite. Amazing! If you go for breakfast, GET A CINNAMON ROLL! So I can live vicariously through everyone else.
Went for a specific DJ doing 90's music. Not sure if its always that way but we had so much fun. Definitely an older crowd, but it was nice dance and the drinks were good. Very laid back with a nice upstairs outdoor floor.
Ordered the Garage Hungry Man breakfast for my partner and I to share on Sunday. We just added an extra piece of the French toast for a small added fee. We were both satisfied and happy by the end. Would definitely recommend if going for brunch with another. Very affordable and filling to share this nice offering. Plus none of the cleanup at home! The place was dog friendly and we even had a little fuzzy visitor out on the patio. We very much enjoyed our time and expect to return!
Brunch was delicious. 8 of us dined and each person left with a to go. Our server was awesome. The aucustics are loud, could use some buffers for sound.
Burger was delicious. Sandwich was delicious. Apps...delicious. Service was great and its got a whole vibe too.
Went for Sunday brunch. The food was great! (Biscuits and gravy and my wife got the Italian chicken and waffles). The service was great. The decor and ambiance were great. The only "bad" thing, if you want to call it that, is that the room is very live, so it can be a challenge having a conversation. Not a deal breaker by any means, and everything else more than makes up for it.
Nice place to relax, have some pretty good food, and some drinks. Servers were friendly and personable. I love meatballs so I had the hoagie and it was very tasty. Nice bar and front has an interesting patio. There is a spacious patio/party area in the rear which wasn't open yet. We will definitely revisit this place in the coming warm months.
Sara our bartender gave us VIP service.Very difficult to do in a very busy place.I hope someone in Upper management recognizes Sara for all her excellent customer service. We will definitely be back and tell our family and friends.
Driven by for years finally stopped by for dinner and drinks....went through the restaurant and got seated in the back outdoor eating area.... what a great find... super burger....fried egg and potato pancake.. with a solid burger with bacon 🥓 and cheese. ....loved the fries that were included....giant wedge spiral fries.... never saw fries like these and they tasted great. My wife had the meatball bomber and was totally satisfied.
We had a private party in the Wrecking Yard patio. It was excellent in every way! The setup is really unique and such a fun atmosphere! Our guests raved about it and had a blast! From the sitting bays, cornhole games, darts and music-it was the perfect party place. Great service, great food, and staff (Julie, Sara, Christina) took great care of us. They did everything we wanted to make our party the best. Thank you!!
Visited the Garage again...this time with friends from out of town that were looking to enjoy some wings. The hot chicken wings are delicious. They're not overcooked but they are still crispy. This is a family run business that caters to a local crowd, but welcomes all. Their outdoor patio is beautiful and the cornhole games out there make for a fun evening. Great place...and sometimes there is live music (not sure what their schedule is...walk or drive by and see their chalkboard - that's what I do).
Our server was very nice, she regularly checked on us to make sure we were still doing well. We sat outside on the patio and it was very pleasant. I got the giant pretzel, chicken fingers, and the garage burger with fries. Everything was delicious, but the giant pretzel and fries stood out the most. The fries were thick and crispy with good seasoning, and you can't go wrong with a pretzel and beer cheese! Their menu has good variety, with wraps, salads, pizzas, burgers, and a good selection of various appetizers. Will definitely return when I come back to Hertel!
Our server Lisa was lovely, funny, and attentive even though she was all alone and already attending to multiple tables. The . food . was . DE-LI-CIOUS!!! 😋🤤 I suggested to her that they sell their chip dip in local grocery stores and she said I was the eighth person this week that suggested that! 🤤 I ordered a smoothie that was a combination of all 3 of the flavors they offered, they happily obliged, and it was SOOOOOO FRUITY & REFRESHING in the 90° weather (we sat on their patio that thankfully has an awning)!!! I said they could name the combo smoothie after me 😄...only time will tell if they will. 😆😅
Went to the Garage and had The Ferrari ($10) sandwich and it was so good! Served on a hoagie roll, this giant piece of breaded cutlet comes with a chips and a homemade dip. Highly recommended sandwich and I look forward to heading back to try some of the other ones. Also of special note, the PICKLES! The pickles that come with the sandwiches are so good! Ask for extra. You'll be glad you did.
If you're looking for the best Tom & Jerry cocktail in Buffalo, look no further! The house-made batter is the best I've ever had, and I've tried places all around Buffalo. We also had the meatballs, a Greek wrap, a panini, and a burger when we stopped in the other day-- all DELICIOUS!
My girlfriend Valerie and I stopped in for a few drinks and food.We had the pleasure of meeting with our bartender Frankie for the 1st time.I can't remember the last time we had service this good.Frankie is an outstanding person and his service deserves more than 5 stars. We will definitely be back. Thank you Frankie.Keep up the excellent work.
Had a wonderful time tonight with a spontaneous group of friends, a party of 14. They easily accommodated us, and were very attentive to our drink needs and food service. All the entrées were delicious and I would highly recommend The Garage for any size group.
I was so frustrated when I got to the Garage and hungry, I was immediately greeted by smiling faces and a kind welcoming staff! The food was SENSATIONAL (Chicken and Waffles) and was hot & fresh! I had a mimosa but they have a full bar!!! I will certainly go back! And Kara the server was phenomenal, sweet and kind. We can be a rowdy bunch and she was super patient!
Absolutely phenomenal food! Even the home fries have distinct flavor and character. Everything our family had was delicious and prepared with a unique touch that separates the menu here from similar offerings by a wide margin. Hat's off to the chef. The atmosphere is cool and there is some really clever use of old car parts to make the décor for mirrors, shelves, and more. Some beautiful artwork of cars and people too. The owner's backstory is heartwarming and inspiring, look it up. The only thing I would change is that one table near the front that sits on a slant, it makes for awkward seating. The staff was happy to move us to another table when we asked though and the service was great, attentive and professional. I can't wait to come back!
Fantastic cafe for breakfast and coffee! I'm a huge fan of cinnamon rolls and so many people told me that The Garage has some of the best cinnamon rolls in the area. They weren't wrong! We also tried some of their cookies and that the Garage proved that they know how to bake! The best surprise though was their coffee. We just got regular black ready brew coffee and it was incredible. Some of the best coffee around and it paired so well with our baked goods! On top of that, the staff there were incredibly friendly. We'll be back for sure.
For brunch, The Garage is a perfect quick stop for couples or a family. Their menu is not too big to make an easy choice. Their confections are scratch made, including their famous cinnamon buns with cream cheese icing. The French toast casserole is a rich delight, and perfect to share between two people for a small treat.
Great place for brunch. Warm and welcoming with nice outside seating. The baked french toast delicious as was the brunch plate. Can't go wrong if you want brunch on Hertel Avenue.
4 of us ate here and we all LOVED our food. Nice atmosphere, the garage doors were open letting in the fall air.
I love this place. The food is great and the staff are very professional. Sad that this place is closing the day after tomorrow. I’ve heard that the owners are retiring and the place will be given to someone else. I hope that the place will reopen in 2026! I highly recommend this place!
We searched for a breakfast spot on Father’s Day being from Florida. We found the Garage Cafe on our Waze. We went and it was the best experience ever. Amazing breakfast. Amazing Irish coffee that we cannot find anywhere like that in Florida. Grrrr. I am speechless with our breakfast. Over medium eggs cooked perfectly. Can’t get that here. lol unless I make them. What a gem. Staff was amazing. Truly miss it. One of a kind for sure. We will be back soon. ❤️🙏🎄🌹Merry Christmas.
Haven't been here in a while but glad we came back. Food was excellent. Burger was excellent. Waitress was great and very attentive. All staff were friendly. Everyone was in a festive mood. Santa made a surprise visit too. The band was setting up right as we were leaving so not sure what the noise level would be with a band. Parking is always a challenge but we expected it so we were prepared to drive around a bit and walk a few blocks.
OMG Yum!!!! Food was INCREDIBLE!! Service was AWESOME! Atmosphere was fantastic. We had an early dinner there when we came out to meet our college kid and take her out to dinner. We had our younger super fussy son with us, but they made him a grilled cheese with ff and he said it was delicious!! There were a couple of dart boards towards the back that helped to keep him entertained while we waited for food. We had the pretzel for an appetizer and split it between 3 of us. My husband had the stuffed banana peppers for an appetizer and he ate the WHOLE thing! I highly recommend the Wagoneer (a grilled chicken sandwich)! My sister had a burger, our daughter had the Turkey bacon wrap, and my husband had the Garage Burger. After all he ate, he was only able to eat a little less than 1/2 of it. We spent about $20 per person average including appetizers and regular drinks (my husband and I each had a couple of drinks). I would not only recommend this place, I would like to come back during the summer when the garage doors are open!
The Garage Bar & Restaurant in Buffalo has quickly become a favorite spot of mine. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, perfect for a casual night out with friends or a relaxing solo dinner. But what really sets this place apart is its incredible selection of bourbon and its mouthwatering wings. As a bourbon enthusiast, I was blown away by their extensive list, offering something for every palate. And the wings? Simply outstanding - crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. To top it all off, their Bloody Mary is a must-try. The addition of spicy sweet pickles was a surprisingly delicious touch, adding a unique twist to the classic cocktail. The service was also excellent - attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Overall, The Garage Bar & Restaurant offers a fantastic combination of delicious food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a bourbon aficionado, a wing lover, or just looking for a great place to relax and enjoy a good meal, The Garage is a place I highly recommend checking out.
Cool garage themed decor. They committed and went all the way with it. Not a huge dining space but the tall ceiling makes it look bigger. Very friendly server and the food came quick. The meal itself was excellent. A little twist on American fare. The fries were excellent. Definitely will go back
I love this place strange hours (closed mom-wed) but they have excellent brunch Saturday and Sunday. The building is bright and inviting, the portions are generous and the menu is surprisingly well rounded. The bar has a few staples advertised (think bloody Mary, mimosa, Wine slushie) but is well stocked so you could theoretically order anything
We loved this place. We sat and had a delicious breakfast and watched the World Cup on the beautiful televisions and everyone we interacted with was nice. Then we went outside and had one drink on the porch and stayed for 3 hours because we met the family and they were so great. It's nice to see a family operated business that loves each other in a family neighborhood. We will definitely be back!
This cafe is located in what used to be a autoshop. Awesome idea! I needed a tune-up in the form of coffee. The cafe has developed a reputation for their cinnamon rolls. This cafe acquired a liquor license, and just opened a beer garden called "The Wrecking Yard" that ranks high on character. It's Hertel Ave's first true beer garden!
This was our second visit and it was just as awesome as the first. The cinnamon bun is a MUST have. It’s seriously incredible. Their brunch French Toast Casserole is also very good. My wife had a mimosa and I had coffee. Coffee is great. Only downfall is that there are not free refills so anyone who typically drinks more than one mug should be aware of that. EDIT: As noted below by staff, there are Free Refills, just not to-go refills. I highly recommend the place and their outdoor patios are awesome too! One last thing...the customer service is fantastic. Very personable workers that really make you feel welcome.
Love the vibe of this fun restaurant. Arrived with the brother and niece. The food was really delicious and the bartender was really attentive to our orders. I ordered the Greek chicken roll up and it was delicious. Brother had the steak hoagie and the niece ordered brunch. The amount of food was amazing and very delicious. Cooked to perfection. This is a neighborhood place as we ran into other people we knew . I am definitely coming back!!
A really chill neighborhood cafe. They have pretty solid brunch offerings in a laid back atmosphere. I took one star off because I didn't like the French toast bread pudding and the latte my husband ordered was really sweet and barely tasted of coffee (he liked it, but he's not much for coffee. Everything else we ordered was good. People rave about their giant homemade cinnamon rolls. I'm looking forward to enjoying their outdoor beer garden this coming summer.
We had a lot of fun here. The place is quaint and nice. The staff is super nice. Don't have gluten free offerings. Had hot wings that were very good. Wish they had gluten free rolls or pizza dough. Will go back.
Everything was amazing. Couldn't give full stars due to parts of the experience being seasonal. Definitely going to return and give a full review in the future. Great spot to watch sports events.
Enjoyed dinner here last night with my friend. I had the basket of meatballs (great option when you don't want all the bread) and she had a turkey wrap. Definitely recommend it. Good atmosphere and good food.
We came in here to eat lunch during the Italian festival to get out of the extreme heat. They had a special menu for during the Italian festival. I had lazy lasagna. It was excellent. The waitress was attentive. After lunch we went to check out this new beer garden. We were quite impressed and made plans to return from music.
Cinnamon rolls! Very tasty, get some to go! Breakfast are well portioned, the eggs are baked so they are fluffy. Potatoes are well seasoned. My friend loved her waffle and bacon too. Going back soon!
Atmosphere was really cool and I bet they have amazing live music in the evenings. The food was good. I had eggs Benedict for brunch, but my corn bread or muffin tasted bland and kinda dry. The mimosas were on par and our waitress was wonderful!!
Food tasted great I just had the Bel air burger and a side of wings which were also done well ...full bar and had three cord spirits ..the blended bourbon seemed to me a tad hot on the back end but it did the trick after one I was feeling no pain then on to the amplify rye which I felt was better tasting and smoother ..or I was just drunk after the first drink either way I had fun and good food can't ask for alot more ..
Stopped here about 1 pm Sunday for brunch. It was busy and it took a long time for anyone to greet us. We were sent to bar to wait, but they lost track of our name somehow. Finally got a table but were told the breakfast food was all gone. The sandwiches and chips were really good but service was poor. Waitress told us we have to come early for brunch.
A little hard to hear my partner, and it wasn't that crowded! Our waitress was wonderful. I had the corned beef sandwich. The meat was tough. French fries are GREAT!!!
Food was good, couldn't get our waitress to come back to the table though. All we needed were some napkins 😶 maybe we were just there on a rough night but the crowd was loud/rowdy for a weeknight. Might try it again sometime but nothing stood out to make me go WOW
Decided to go in for dinner last night I ordered Mac and cheese , now ive been here before and the food is usually on point but....my Mac and cheese was dry like it was microwaved and stuck to the plate and the pulled pork was either going bad or frozen as well because it was inedible and honestly they didnt care , they offered to get me something else but by then I was definitely turned off , my suggestion dont order pulled pork or Mac and cheese from here ever super disappointed on a positive note the Italian egg rolls are fantastic and the young kid that brought our drinks , he was very pleasant
They pride themselves on their cinnamon rolls, however, you can’t get them to-go unless you order them 4-5 DAYS in advance (Wednesday or Thursday). This NEVER used to be the case. In fact, I’ve gone in on Sundays before and had them packed in a white bakery box with a smile. Now, In case you’re planning to pop in Sunday morning when they open to ensure you can bring some cinnamon rolls home, I DONT advise you do that, because they only serve their rolls for dine-in, they will explicitly NOT allow you to take them to-go, unless you give them 4-5 days notice or sit at a table first. How foolish. Good luck and go to Kaylene Marie’s, they’re better anyways :)
I came to this establishment on Sunday, February 25, 2024. I first called asking if there was a wait time for a table. I was told there was none. I get there and there is a 20 minute wait. Cool my partner and I waited. We were then seated and I attempted to place an order for a Bellini. I was carded. Despite me being over 21, I was denied the chance to receive the drink. I was told many things from my ID has expired to I am under 21. lol this place needs people who can actually read to serve drinks. The crazy part is I have been here before and have been served bellinis. The waitress had dark hair and was small and had a tattoo on her head. This feels racially motivated and especially during black history month. My fellow black people please watch out for this place!
Rude customer service , the waiters were so mean and talked down to me! I ordered a pretzel from the menu and the waiter made comments like “do you think this is Auntie Annie’s, do you think we just go around selling pretzels” Also Very expensive and not worth the price My one pretzel was 15 dollars!
Called more than an hour before they closed. Phone rang until an answering machine picked up. Called back, this time I got an answer but they said they no longer were doing take out orders. Either your website lies about you doing take out or you stopped doing takeout more than an hour before the end of buisness. Either way you lost my business. Not sure if that was the goal, but what else do you expect when you just don't serve people. Edit: went in for a brunch because I believe in second chances. Food was ok. Not great. I had a breakfast sandwhich which tasted heavily of garlic like the griddle hadn't been cleaned. Also got one of their vaunted cinnamon rolls and was extremly disappointed to find it dry and flavorless. Mostly just bread.
They do not have air conditioning inside I was sweating while eating dinner. So because it was so hot inside without air conditioning and I went outside but then they allow people to smoke cigarettes and marijuana to the point where they promote it by haven't ashtrays outside in the back. They also charge you for reservations.
What was once one of my favorite local brunch spots, is no longer the case. Upon ordering the “Giant pretzel”, which is one of our favorites, we were given 3 nearly raw, bread pretzel sticks. When we complained, the server stated they no longer carry the giant pretzel due to supply issues and haven’t changed it on the menu. The 3 pretzel sticks were 10.99! The server never told us this upon ordering. I couldn’t believe the price wasn’t changed given it’s no longer the same item. The chicken and waffles , also another favorite, was not the same. The chicken fingers were inedible. We likely won’t be coming back any time soon, however we are hoping it was just a “bad” day.
As a black person I did not feel welcomed in this establishment. When I entered the host was not friendly and I did not get seated. Instead she told me I could sit by the bar, I wasn’t sure where exactly but I figured it out. After about 10 minutes waiting no one came over with a menu or to check in on me so I left.
Asked for EXTRA EXTRA CRISPY WINGS with hot sauce, shared with another person at our table. You could hardly bite into them, as the skin was stretchy and uncooked. Husband got cheeseburger with fries and they must of dumped a container of salt on them. Told waitress the wings were not cooked and fries would give anyone heartburn. She took wings back and told us they couldn’t do anything about them as they already had sauce on them. The fries she basically ignored. Not her fault I get that. Niece had plain chicken fingers that were not near cooked enough with ungodly salty on the fries. Would I recommend the place, no way!
Really would appreciate if this establishment would get take-out & to-go orders correct the first time. How do you charge individuals extra but the extra-food you pay for isn’t included in your meal. Like seriously! Then you have the nerve to take credit cards only over the phone and not allow patrons to pay once they know their food is correctly ordered? What’s up with that! Get it together Garbage bar🤦🏽♂️or is this just a normal practice of the establishment!
Update summer 2022. They did some remodeling but still have the same problems, no music outside, no tv outside, no fan under the bar which feels like and oven, nothing to do in the back patio, etc. panini was good, sandwich was good, bartender was nice, but it was a boring experience… What a gorgeous hidden gem. The food is really good, the drinks are really cold, there are tons of games, Jenga, bag toss, ring toss, darts etc. Great vodka seltzer drinks, local craft beers, and a nice overall vibe. Maybe live music on Fridays and some speakers in the far corner, and maybe a nice propane firepit or two :) will visit again! Update 3/13/21- came for brunch. Draft selection is weak, food was mediocre, not a lot of selections. Also, so drab in here for brunch. Play some music or something. TVs silent, music turned down, feels soooo bland
