Vengo mucho por Cádiz y tengo varios restaurantes favoritos. Uno de ellos es "El Merodio", por su buena ubicación, su gran "Sabor a Cádiz", una magnífica atención, unos propietarios encantadores y todo ello a un precio razonable. Pido mucho la Ensaladilla de pulpo, Pimientos de asar con gambones y atún, Papas aliñás, Menudo gaditano, Cazón en adobo, Choco frito, Acedías, Boquerones, Caballa, Rabo de toro, Carne al toro, ... Ya he dicho que vengo mucho por aquí y ¡por algo será!

Buena calidad precio. El camarero, Mohamed muy amable. Nos buscó una mesa para dos super rápido. Ensalada de pulpo, cazón adobado ( de lo mejor que he comido) y merluza a a la andaluza. Recomiendo comer antes la merluza porque si comes el cazón antes, está tan rico, que todo lo que comas después ya no te sabe a nada ... jajaja

TL:DR - recommend a visit. We had an enjoyable meal here. The staff were friendly and attentive and best of all the food was lovely, highly recommend the cheese with strawberry sauce (weird but delicious)

A great dinner with dishes that really exceeded expectations. The snails were flavorful, served in a light but tasty broth. The fried calamari rings were crispy, not greasy at all. The cazón (fried dogfish) was the highlight of the meal — perfectly seasoned, tender, and with a light, crunchy coating. The grilled baby squid were tender and well-balanced with herbs. Fast and super friendly service. Honest, well-cooked food with real local flavor. Would definitely come back.

Nos trataron muy bien. La comida era correcta. Las almóndigas muy buenas! El lomo de plancha muy rico. Las puntillitas estaban un poco secas porque se habían pasado del tiempo de fritura. Pero en general muy rico todo. Lástima que las mesas están muy arrejuntás y que tienes que hacer con la cintura para moverte por allí. No entiendo por qué ponen todas las mesas juntas, con todo el espacio que tienen.

Pedimos para cenar la Tortilleta de camaron, las acedias y cazon en adobo, es comida tipica de Cadiz y super rica. La fritura al punto y el pescado fresco. Experiencia gastronomica recomendable. Servicio atento y rapido. Cierto que tienen muchos clientes aun asi han sido eficientes! Respetan turno de llegada y son conscientes de donde pueden o no llegar, tuvimos que esperar un rato, pero valio la pena. Las albondigas super ricas tambien!! Calidad precio super super correcto! Lo mejor la comida: buena cantidad y calidad. Le pongo un 3 por el servicio. El camarero que nos atendió debería estar bastante quemado con el día duro de trabajo y el servicio fue desagradable. Malas formas, como si molestaramos. Le recomendaría al dueño que pusiese más camareros y que estos fuesen más serviciales.

Local al lado del Mercado Central de Abastos de Cádiz, complicado aparcar por ser zona peatonal, hay que ir al parking público. Dispone de una terraza delante del mercado un comedor interior y una terraza detrás. Nosotros estuvimos delante del mercado y resulta que el servicio dejaba mucho que desear, supongo que por falta de personal, toda la terraza dejada y los clientes teniendo que entrar a pedir. Y la solución trasladarte al comedor interior o a la otra terraza. La comida estaba rica y es una lastima que gestionen así el local. La tortilla de camarones estaba rica.

First things first: WOW. If you check on Trip Advisor you will see that in Cadiz there are 500+ restaurants and this place sits at 411. Even though Cadiz has a rich history and it is an ancient city it is not that big. So imagine my surprise when I opened Trip Advisor to write this article and saw that number. In Cadiz I did not look at places before I went there. I just took my time, visited the town then as I was walking near the market I just stopped in a restaurant that sold sea urchins outside its door. This is not a fancy place but rather an old place, filled with locals. As I sat there waiting for my meal I looked at the simple table and the old walls and wondered about how food will taste. The staff is nice, even though they don’t speak so much English, and finally I managed to communicate with them and told them what I want to eat. I must confess that even today, more than one month away I regret not eating sea urchins. I felt so hungry when I saw the man outside cleaning, cutting them but I did not ordered it so that I regret. Regarding the food I can honestly say that this place has decent food. I did not eat a lot because it was a hot day and I was travelling next to Jerez but I think that the food here managed to keep me full without leaving something memorable behind. The fish salad was interesting and had a really ok flavor but I cannot honestly say I would return here for another meal if in Cadiz. I think I would try a restaurant in the top 50 or top 100 and see how different it is from this place. The food is simple, it tastes ok and it can keep you full until your next meal. My verdict is 3 out of 5 stars.

Frente el Mercado de Abastos, nos pareció un buen sitio donde tomar unas tapas. El chico muy agradable, nos ofreció una mesa en el patio posterior puesto que la única mesa que tenía libre al exterior tocaba el sol. Una vez sentados tardaron en tomarnos nota, y al hacerlo tuvimos que esperar media hora para que nos trajeran las.medias raciones. Las medias raciones son generosas eso sí! Pero ni los tiempos ni la calidad del producto nos ha parecido suficiente

Only good for beer, coffee and drinks. The food is relatively poor. The portions are large and inexpensive but the flavour is not amazing. The staff are good but overworked. I would not recommend this place for food. Better to eat elsewhere. Every dish we tried was disappointing in flavour.

Random quality. First day great food, decent service. Second visit was quite horrible. Same dish from first visit was inedible, and it took half an hour each to order, get the food and pay. Wasn't even crowded. Waitress seemed unable to calculate; so she postponed, tried again, and finally delegated the task. If you feel lucky give it a try. Otherwise avoid.

Fuimos a cenar y la experiencia fue bastante decepcionante. Los precios son excesivos para lo que ofrecen: raciones muy justas de tamaño y sabor totalmente normalito, nada destacable. Pedimos varias medias raciones (cazón, calamares y choquitos) y todas estaban bastante sosas y poco frescas. Las bebidas caras, y para rematar, nos cobraron 1,20 € por “servicios” sin ningún tipo de explicación, algo que deberían informar antes. Además, el servicio fue rápido pero bastante seco, sin ningún tipo de amabilidad o interés. En una zona como Cádiz, con tanta buena oferta gastronómica, hay sitios mucho mejores donde gastar tu dinero. No volveremos.

El lugar está ubicado al lado del mercado de abastos en pleno centro, muy bien decorado y en un ambiente acogedor. Las patas aliñadas y las tortitas de camarón estaban buenas, el resto fue empeorando con algunos platos muy malos. El principal problema creo que está en el rebozado. Después hay un tema del tiempo de espera.bpara sacar las patatas aliñadas 15 min, pero es que tardamos 2h en comer estando el salón vacío. Un desastre sacando platos a cuentas gotas. No sé si es que pretendían que nos tomaremos dos bebidas pero pésima gestión, más vale ir sacando platos y hacer apetito que no esté destre. El cazón inexplicablemente sabía a kebab no lo entiendo

Not at all recommended. Service was dire. SO slow, and couldn’t get simple drinks orders correct. We just sat down which seemed to be the right thing to do as others with kids were just left standing for 20 mins or so. Our table was finally laid 10 mins after our arrival, and drinks arrived probably 15 mins in. Food took much longer, around 45 mins. So a quick lunch took around 90 mins in a non-air conditioned sweatbox. Food was so salty, particularly the prawn tortilla, which also tasted less-than-fresh. Breaded prawns were not on the menu, which we found out about 15 mins after ordering. Also, shout-out to the disgusting toilets ( if you get a bad table you can actually see the toilet itself whilst you eat - mmmmmm). No toilet paper, no soap. Lovely.
