Absolutely fantastic! The drinks were incredibly fresh and delicious and the service was exceptional! We came directly from kayaking and sat at the bar…it was a great experience! We will absolutely be back again!
We had such a great time with this friendly staff. Maria was our server, she was very kind an helpful with my daughter she is 8 months and she helps a lot to make everything easier for us. The Baja tacos were great as an appetizer, then I loved the enchiladas carnitas. The bartender did such a great job with our drinks the tequila espresso martini was intachable. Highly recommended the place.
Was going to cava to eat healthy , seen this place and went here with the wife instead. Didn’t even read the review and I’m glad but seeing it’s a 3,6 is a huge dishonor to this place . First off all the food was absolutely delicious, some of the best Mexican I’d not the best I’ve ever had. I got the wings which were wiped clean they were crunchy saucy and juicy. Elote was so creamy and had the perfect amount of spice. The birria tacos had what a lot of other places lack when it comes to birria , flavor.. there’s consume was more flavorful which for me is a game changer and alittle thicker than you usually see which I loved.
Excellent food and great atmosphere! Mex Taqueria had a great tequila selection, great food selection, and the roof top did not disappoint. I came here for dinner with some friends while in town on business and we all enjoyed the meal. Highly recommend the carnitas enchiladas, they were excellent! Quest was very good too
I’m from Colorado, and I underestimated just how authentic and delicious the Mexican food was there. I’ve tried dozens of Mexican restaurants around Boston and been underwhelmed. This place nails everything- great vibes, great music, good atmosphere, and how rare is a rooftop bar in Boston??? Drinks were delicious, and the food was the best Mexican I’ve had since Denver. Staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. 5 stars all around!
Got to try Mex on their first day open for lunch! Tacos were great. Love that they had a unique sushi taco. Very much looking forward to their roof deck and cocktails this summer!
Hola personas en la red! This place is really good. They kinda just stuck me in the attic tho. And unfortunately the doors that protect the boozy woozies were locked. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in my day, and man, with this being the first restaurant I’ve been to in women’s history month, I am pleasantly surprised with this turn out. I’ve never seen such strong women! And NO I’m not talking about that “brave” or “persistent” mindset. I mean REALLY STRONG. If I was in a street brawl, which I sometimes get myself in ☺️☺️ I would want THESE WOMEN backing me up. I might pull a few aside and try to start an underground fight club (jk but not). Think it could help w my personal strength even though I’m as alpha as a little Irish prick can get! Not to mention the olive oil in the guac. At first I was like 🤨🤨but then I was like 😋🤤 (yes I drooled a bit). I liked it especially because it reminded me of Italy, and that reminded me of my mother. She went to Italy for her semester abroad. I don’t remember the specific city but it rhymed with Home. Idk. Now to the main event. They have this interesting light fixture. It is a full bike they have hanging from the ceiling (see picture). First off, who rode it up there to begin with? Second off, could I be the next one to ride it? So I paused my delicious dinner to go climb over the rails and ride it. I thought it was like one of those mechanical bulls you find at a traditional Austin TX sports bar. However, when I tried to ride it, all the waitresses were screaming, “No! No! No! No! No! No!”. I was kind of confused because I haven’t taken Spanish since middle school, but I had this weird gut-feeling, they were mad at me for doing something I shouldn’t?!?! I figured it was time to get the bill. I dropped the pen though (in my defense it was a TERRIBLE THROW). Then I realized I was too scared to get down and had to call the fire department. While I was being fireman-carried out they didn’t TECHNICALLY kick me out, but they put my face on their wall. And I am NOT famous, yet. Overall though, really great guac and margaritas. Would recommend.
Great Mexican place but a bit on the price side. I expected to get chips and salsa for free but paid $6 for a few chips and salsa (not a lot of chips and no refills), but the food was good with many gluten-free options. All in all good place and prices as expected for Cambridge.
Visiting Boston for a week and OMG this place is the best restaurant we've been to here. The service is amazing, Bryan and Ali were so sweet and helpful. The manager opened up the roof top area for JUST US eventhough it was not officially open.
The drinks were not only good, but absolutely delightful, and the atmosphere was truly mesmerizing. I am certain that I will definitely return to this place in the future. Interestingly, I had no prior knowledge of the rooftop area until I overheard someone mentioning it in front of me. Intrigued, I immediately requested to experience it for myself, and I must say, it was truly a unique and enchanting space. I absolutely adored every moment I spent up there.
So fresh, food was great, the taco party was delicious, the nachos incredible. Great margaritas. Got to definitely make another trip back!
Excellent service! Maria was our server and she help us on choosing one of the best ceviches I’ve ever tried which was the tuna ceviche I’ll highly recommended and the drinks were top notch Mariano was the bartender and you can clearly tell that both of them love their job by just looking at the way they treat you.
Easily some of my favorite tacos in the Boston area! Great for sharing. Al pastor tacos in particular were fantastic and flavorful! Liked the outdoor eating option with heat lamps. Great atmosphere.
We love the food, chimichurri and fish tacos was amazing!!! Aleja and Mariano give us amazing service! We fully recommended!
This place is really good. The food was awesome and the service was great. I had a watermelon, basil, margarita, and it was to die for. I had the Carne Asada bowl. So amazing. My son had tacos and he loved them. The Carnitas was delicious.
A lot of outdoor seating, open windows, etc. Atmosphere is nice and fun. Their strawberry lime margarita special was the best drink we've had all summer!!!! The tacos are a little over stuffed, so it falls out everywhere but honestly can't really complain about getting extra food lol. They're dog friendly and they were so sweet to my pup.
Booked reservations for 11 for my boyfriend’s 21st birthday and let me tell you, the service and the environment was absolutely fantastic and deserves 5 stars. Amazing service, very attentive and friendly. They took care of, gave him shots and a free churro espresso martini. What a great experience and what a great place. Everyone needs to try out Mex, bring your friends and family because this place is awesome.
As a Celiac, I came for the gluten free churros but didn’t expect much in the way of food quality based on the reviews. I was quite pleasantly surprised. I found the food fresh, delicious, and well-presented. Everything was cooked perfectly — the churros crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and served warm. The taco slaw was fresh and crunchy, definitely made day-of. Our server was super kind, reassuring me that there was no issue with the fried items with regard to cross contamination. The empanadas were well-filled and delicious! We enjoyed the roof deck atmosphere and really had a nice evening. Very relaxed, cool vibe with great staff. Drinks also delicious and heavy handed! If I were to make one criticism, I did see multiple staff snacking on chips and guac periodically from the bin and container where it was served for guests next to the bar, reaching in with their hands. Maybe don’t do that? Lol. Otherwise we would so come back here! Great place.
What can I say besides AMAZING!!! This place knocked it out of the park!! The food was prepared quickly, and the portions were large with a good price point! The service was above and beyond, and we couldn't have been happier with our meal! For reference, we ordered: 1 x Enchiladas carnitas. (Gluten-free) 1 x El pastor tacos (gluten-free) 1 x nachos grande (appetizer) (gluten-free) The enchiladas were some of the best I've experienced, whereas the meat was cooked appropriately. There was a plentiful amount of cheese, and the beans and rice placed to the side were plentiful but well proportioned. El pastor tacos were filled to the brim with a very tasty and well cooked and prepared meat. It comes served with a lime that pairs perfectly with the other fillings. THE NACHOS were beyond any expectations I believe anyone could have! They were truly layered, so unlike most places, the lower chips were also entirely covered with cheese, salsa, and other flavored goodness! Overall, we loved it here! Our server, Khali T, and what we presume was her trainee were spectacular and definitely were more than willing to help with anything needed! The seating specialist at the front was extremely kind and even made sure the air was not too cold by closing the windows. We were beyond impressed!! - Joel and Molly
Really amazing place! I loved Hibiscus margarita and tacos- especially the lamb taco. The place looks great, really Mexican vibe decor, all 3 Floors +bars will be definitely great venues for casual dinners and events. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Just great place to enjoy your Mex-fix 😃
I loved everything about this place, Great music, Great vibes, Great Customer Service. Food prices are reasonable but tacos were super expensive just for 2, So I didn’t get to try! Definitely coming again! Our waiter was amazing he was so nice and friendly had conversation with us! I’ll be coming again!
GLUTEN-FREE CHURROS!!!! All I have to say is WOWOWOWOWWOWOWOW!!!! Finally! An establishment that sells GOOD quality churros!! I literally tried to get to this place all week and finally yesterday I was able to! I tried another place that didn't sell good GF churros so I was super exicted to try this one. And let me tell you, this place did not disappointment! The churros smelled like fresh fried dough that you would get from the fair! Mouth-watering! The first bite was magical (haha). The churros were coated perfectly with sugar and cinnamon and were soft and moist on the inside. The sauces were also great! I loved the dulce de Leche (I think it was that) the chocolate was okay. Also! I think he's the manager. I missed his name but he was also very patient with taking my call and answering my questions. Overall great establishment and can't wait to come back and try more menu items! Ps. I apologize in advance for the poor photo quality. I was in a moving car while trying to take a picture!
Absolutely delicious. We ate on the roof deck on a beautiful evening and had a tremendous time. Personal favorites: the birria tacos (unreal), the shrimp ceviche, the agave wings, and the standard margarita with Siete Leguas Reposado. Highly recommended.
I love our weekly trivia nights at Mex! The food is good, I often get the octopus tacos. There are lots of places to sit including outside and on the roof when the weather is warm.
We came for a birthday dinner with a group of 10 and it was a perfect celebration! The food, drinks, and service were amazing! We definitely recommend!!
Every single time I eat here I am so impressed by how good both the food AND service are. Truly outstanding. Also, I have Celiac disease and they have so many excellent gluten free options, including gf churros which are hard to find.
We loved this place. I had the lobster birria tacos which were incredible. Nachos were amazing as well, super fresh and full of flavor. Churros for desert were also great. Highly recommended Service was outstanding. We were visiting for the day and wish we can come back soon. Foods fresh and service is great !! One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been too.
Popular for its modern and casual vibes, Mex Taqueria is a solid place for a trendy taqueria experience near Kendall Square. My friends and I recently took a visit for dinner after work. The famous rooftop terrace was unfortunately closed for a private event, but we were able to grab a table on the second floor. The hot queso dips and a pitcher of Modelo especial gave a satisfactory start to the meal. The chips were fantastic and kept our expectations for the food high. The presentations of the dishes that came afterwards were top notch, and we were especially intrigued with the ceviche which came in a cocktail glass. However, it wasn’t as good as we hoped it would be. The tortillas for the tacos were also lukewarm and a bit soggy, and there weren’t any other dishes that we raved about. Mex Taqueria may not be a great place a filling dinner, but they are still a decent new addition to the area for drinks. The service was also better than what was mentioned in some of the reviews, and I would probably come back just to grab some drinks.
Overall, a good experience. The service was attentive and the food came out incredibly quickly after ordering it. The food was tasty and the menu is large enough to try different items. Be prepared to pay for the chips at your table though. The prices are a bit high, but expected given the location of the restaurant.
Four stars + esp for staff, with another pending. I was eagerly anticipating the opening of this hip looking new joint in Kendall and wanted it to take my breath away. I think the drinks are fantastic, maybe best in the area since CAS closed. Worth the visit alone. Butttt the vegetarian option is one and lacking- same eggplant taco as their sister loc down the street. I had tried to reach out to the team before soft open but no one got back to me. During soft open, I was disappointed to see a singular veg option despite my begging. I met Isaac who's part of the team behind Mex and he and chef were able to bring me out a test plantain taco on the spot! I hope it makes it to the menu because it was dope. The nachos were good too but the spice levels need a kick, as does their hot sauce game. I'm rooting for you and will still come often while you work out the kinks. Eager for the rooftop!
Great vibes especially on the roof top! Food & drinks were good.
Place is nice , good food , guacamole a Bit sour because of lime juice , chips are good . House margarita decent
TLDR: good food, good vibe, expensive everything, solid 3/. Everything except BURRITO AND QUESADILLA IS GLUTEN-FREE! Went here with a group of 4, and was very impressed by the vibe. we got seated relatively quickly, though got seated upstairs and the spots were surprisingly cramped. There’s a purple light that was mildly blindingly bright behind us. The food came reasonably quickly and our server was super nice. The drinks took a bit of time. we got a pitcher of the house Margarita, but surprisingly there was only enough for four people (so perfect for us) but the cost would’ve come out to the same if we just ordered 4 separate margaritas (and it would’ve allowed us to try different ones!). The food was also tasty. Some of the tacos had a bit of a spicy kick with no real indicator on the menu. Can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer out and they’ve got rooftop seating!!! Overall, the bill came out to be roughly 40-50$ a person, with chips and a few tacos and a drink. Definitely on the pricier side, and a tier above Naco Taco. Not sure if I would go again- maybe on a special occasion.
Nice ambience and food is great and portion is good too. Went for lunch and got myself a chicken enchiladas. The staff are friendly as well. Overall, nice Mexican place in Kendall and would be back to try out other dishes!
The inside is great, the bar is gorgeous. Food was ok, it came out lightning fast. Like many things in the area, wish it was open later Sun thru Wed because would be a great spot for late drinks.
First time in Boston and instead of chowder I of course have tacos...a Boston tradition I'm sure. My skepticism was swiftly met with surprisingly delicious and creative artisan tacos. Let me just say that these are NOT street tacos. These are designer tacos. I went with the lamb barbacoa and it was served with strange delicious spices and pickles. PICKLES, on taco! But it worked! I also tried some octopus chorizo which makes zero sense but it was freakin amazing. Aside from tacos, I love wings. So I tried their agave and whatever wings. Don't remember what all was in them but they were delicious too! Washed it down with a La Flaca maragaita (a low cal drink, sue me!) From the tacos to the drink and youthful atmosphere, loved it. Even if I've never felt so old surrounded by so many young people. Highly recommend!
Strong and unique cocktails. I didn’t expect to like a Jalepeno in my drink, but it was delicious. The steak and cheese eggrolls were awesome, but probably because of the sauce. The nachos and guacamole were pretty standard. Perfect location!!!
Super fun place, the balcony is where it’s at :) A ton of space to spread out and lots of room for private events. They have quite an innovative take on Mexican inspired brunch. Came here with a couple girlfriends and got lamb barbacoa tacos - and I have to say I was impressed. Tacos were pretty jam packed with flavor and lamb was shredded perfectly and very tender. I’m going to come back to get a proper brunch and try their chilaquiles (they looked pretty fun and satisfying!)
Outdoor rooftop vibes are super nice, though the table and seating was pretty dirty when we sat down. Service was great though and the food was good for the price. Note that Tuesday night trivia isn’t available on the rooftop (you need to sit inside).
Had brunch here yesterday for the first time and it probably won't be my last. We were there as soon as it opened(11am) and had our choice of seating. This place has 3 FLOORS y'all! Top floor is a small cute rooftop with a fireplace. Of course we chose to sit up there. I had a margarita(never too early) and huevos rancheros. They were both good. Everyone liked their food. Only thing was service was a little slow. Make sure you have time and patience when you go.
They have indoor as well as rooftop seating. The service is quick. The food is decent but slightly overpriced in my opinion. They also have plenty of drinks options.
Mex is not a place I would go back to for food. The ceviche had way more liquid than fish. The food fell flat overall. On the other hand, the rooftop vibe is nice and I imagine it’s a great place to watch a game and have a drink with friends. Nice staff too! If you want a good meal, however, the quality of food / drinks isn’t really worth the money.
Cocktails are great and reasonably priced but the food was more expensive than it was worth. The corn tortillas of the tacos had an unappealing texture that was somewhat leathery (but you won't know the difference if you're drunk lol). Regardless, the service was great and friendly. I would recommend the sushi taco though. It was very unique. I also highly recommend the street corn.
Made reservations for 8:15 pm on a Friday for the roof top. Arrived at 8pm and informed host of our reservation for 2. He stated I don’t have any rooftop. I was confused as we made reservations. He then sternly stated there is no space for any others on the roof top and told us to follow him. We then we’re led up stairs to a tiny table in front of the stairs and elevator. Asked for another table if possible as there were some open we could see away from the stairs and elevator. Host said no. We didn’t want the host to ruin our date night so we tried the food and the “la comida el jefe” was really good portion and taste. The Iberia tacos were ok. The street corn in the bowl was amazing but a little spicy and the empeñadas with sweet potato was delicious but kind of pricey for 2 small empeñadas.
Decent food and drinks but could have more vegan options. I was able to modify the fried eggplant taco and they also had chips and guacamole. Came in with a large party and was seated immediately
Pricey but a fun place to enjoy drinks and food in the heart of Cambridge. A pitcher of spicy margaritas (delicious) will run you about $60 and a gin/tonic was $16. Food is good. The rooftop patio is very nice and it’s in a great walkable location.
Food was not very flavorful for Mexican food, but not bad. Service was ok, didn't really get refill or anything but maybe it was a one off experience.
Mex Taqueria & Bar had a disappointing evening with our family. The lack of working AC made the 90-degree weather uncomfortable, and service was slow to respond to our needs. However, the tableside salsa was a standout, delivering fresh and vibrant flavors. Despite the setbacks, Mex Taqueria & Bar shows promise with their flavorful offerings and could benefit from improved service and ambiance management.
Overpriced American Mexican food that you could get anywhere else for much cheaper. I would describe the food as boring and inoffensive, it just looks flashy. But I guess if your location is in Kendall you are serving the tech people that don't look twice at the menu prices. $70 for a plate of 10 tacos is insane, that's $7 a taco and they weren't even that good. The service was great though. If you want good Mexican or Tex-Mex without breaking the bank, go somewhere else.
Probably one of my worst experiences at a restaurant, I booked a table for my birthday dinner. The server wasn’t attentive. We probably seen him a total of 3 times. The food was absolutely disgusting. We took a bite of each of our meals and spit it out. I ordered the birria tacos one of their specials and it was just covered in tomato sauce. The other meal we ordered we asked for enchiladas with only the queso in it, when the plate arrived there were no sides on it. No rice with the meal as it’s supposed to be apart of the meal. The nachos were okay, the chips were pretty hard and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We also ordered a pitcher of passion fruit margarita which i believe we were over charged, on the menu all the pitchers were ranging from $50-62 we got charged $72 for it. We were on the roof top which was nice. But it was extremely over crowded we were placed in between a very loud drunk group and on the other side a family playing a heads up game with a bunch of little kids just screaming and yelling. When we handed our plates back to the server he didn’t offer to fix it or asked if we would like anything else. The only good thing that came about the situation was that the meals were taken off the bill without us having to ask for it to be taken off. I left pretty upset as it was my birthday and I couldn’t even get to enjoy dinner and was now starving after just spending over $100 on just drinks and nachos.
