The Green Gate is known for its delicious American cuisine, especially the salmon and Ahi Tuna. Many reviewers praise the atmosphere, live jazz music, and friendly bartenders (except for some negative experiences). Service quality seems inconsistent.

Craft beer, crepes, great food and service. Open mic night was a lot of fun!
Classy restaurant on one side and a bar on the other makes for a happy medium between the two. Live music!
One of the best places I have been to. Good times, great staff and amazing memories!!!
Great food at a frustrating time for all of us. Their take out is DEFINITELY worth it.
Green Gate Inn is comfy and delicious! Especially, I'm impressed with their German dishes!
Friendly atmosphere with great food and live music... loved it
Great atmosphere, delicious food. Awesome barteners!
Owner is very attentive and welcoming. Food is great as well.
Jazz in the burbs was terrific! Food was also!
Hidden gem. Local pub. Good food.
Love when they have Ukrainian night! Delicious, authentic Ukrainian food!
Great food. Great people. Always a good time!
Best place in town great food great atmosphere and great service. Love it.
Good food but a very long wait to order.
Always a good meal! Ryan the bartender does an amazing job!
Great place for food and drinks for a post wake family celebration!
Loved it. Great food, nice place.
Great Food, Great Entertainment, Not overly pricey.
Great food. Darts, pool and cold beer!
Owner makes everything from scratch...food is delicious! Homemade soups are always on point. Awesome for elevated specials and even bar food.
Was in earlier today - food was great and service was friendly. Can't wait to try something new next time. I recommend this restaurant.
Just an amazing lil place , first class menus that change frequently , great prompt service by smiling staff & on weekends entertainment...highly recommend it here weather for a quick drink at the bar or table service sampling their amazing food
Great dinner and good service and no crowd on a Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very pleasant on the deck.
Great food. Artichoke pizza. John Learner's open mic on Tues. is the best quality around. Good players.
Felipe was an amazing bartender, we always have a great time! Whether we are playing pool or listening to open mic night.
Great food and Atmosphere. Good beer choices and some decent quality food. Local crowd and friendly folks.
The Green Gate Inn has been apart of my life and family's life for over 55 yrs. We so saddened by the tragic fire. We were wondering if the Green Gate could be classified as a historic landmark?
The food here is great, especially the schnitzel.
Great food, a real gem. One of the few local restaurants serving any French cuisine.
The Green Gate is one of my favorite places ever. Service is top notch, wine is great and the food is fab!
My favorite place for a comfortable homey environment and the food here is delicious! Great burgers!
Excellent food. Accommodating waiter. Thursday night jazz was great.
Very accommodating to our party of 10! FABULOUS FOOD! Very friendly service!
Great local bar with an excellent tap selection. Polish and Ukrainian nights are a plus, too.
The Jazz on Thursdays is always great. The food is excellent. I mean EXCELLENT!
We ate in the pub & very impressed with the service & food-great choices & perfectly prepared.
We brought our 6 and 9 year olds with us, not knowing what to expect. My daughter devoured her fresh, crispy chicken tenders (not processed) and my son loved his shrimp! My husband got the fish sandwich and said it was fantastic. I got the Paleo plate, which was perfect for my food allergies! Our server was delightful, and the prices were reasonable. The pub area was bustling with happy hour guests and with the kids we sat in dining room. It was cozy and relaxed. So happy to have tried this Camillus gem. We will absolutely return and suggest it to others!
I like the atmosphere here, if you're looking for a a friendly neighborhood bar. The food can be very good, but we were there late and didn't eat. Lots of martinis available, decent drink selection.
We are Book club ladies, food was good. No separate checks We had reservations for 10
Fillipe if I'm spelling that correctly makes hands down the best Martinis in Syracuse. The beer selection is also notable and the food is amazing. His wife is the chef and she offers an amazing variety. Everytime I go I try something different except I'm sure to order an extra dirty martini or two. One of my favorite spots in camillus.
Came here after the SU basketball game for a few drinks and some food with some family and friends. Great selection of brew! These guys have everything from bud light, to some great IPA's (the Ommegang was my favorite), and even stocked Guinness and a porter or two for the dark beer fan. We ordered a few appetizers to share around the table. The wings were excellent as were the nachos and the tenders. I would highly recommend the Green Gate in if you're looking for a place that's not overcrowded with a great atmosphere, and great service. I know I'll be visiting again!
Was here for a business networking meeting and the service, food, and atmosphere was absolutely perfect! Would highly recommend this venue for your next event.
Spot on European food (German, Polish, Eastern European) and a great pub vibe. Amazing beer list (import, not craft) and good cocktails. Nice pub vibe and cool oldschool inn vibe without being unkempt.
Consistently Excellent food. Menu varies wildly. Often offering unique European dishes. Don’t be afraid to try, these people know exactly what they’re doing. Underrated gem in CNY
We had a lovely dinner at Green Gate. The menu is varied and the food was excellent. I also loved my martini. Great place for a quiet date night!
Love the food!! We had a party of 5 and there was something on the vast menu to please us all! our waitress was friendly and fun 😁
Another great meal. This restaurant never disappoints. The specials are wonderful! The food is out of this world and the prices are spot on. I would highly recommend this gem.
Great food, funny staff
Excellent food and service. Very friendly pub atmosphere with side dining areas. Had ritz crumb baked haddock and opened faced strip sirloin sandwich. Will be back.
We‘ve order take out here every Friday or Saturday since we moved to the area and it’s always so soo good!! The prices are great, everything we’ve ever ordered has been so tasty, always high quality ingredients, and beautifully cooked. The Buffalo chicken wrap (I’m actually obsessed with this and get it every time, I think about it when they’re not open it’s so good lol), the fish tacos, the haddock, the quesadillas, the French onion soup, the moose cake, the pierogis, even the French fries and tater tots are next level. The interior is a good vibe as-well with a cool French dude working the nicely decorated, well-stocked bar. They even have outdoor seating for nice days! Definitely going to be bringing my friends and family to this cool spot when they come to visit Camillus and highly recommend to everyone!!
Stopped in to have a drink or so and to listen to some live jazz boogie and some rag time music.... It was very enjoyable.... They have live music every Thursday no $$$ to enter this quaint historic building.... Dinner and other food is also available.... Well worth stopping in....
Can not express how outstanding our event went today for my future Daughter in law. Being that I live in Gloucester Va, and making plans with Natalia and Philep over the phone and email. They did nothing but blow us away with the food, setup and service. We did heavy appetizers with a open bar...the guests were blown away by the signature cocktails they received from Philep., and he had my favorite wine available!!! So thankful !!!! They opened early for our Wedding shower without hesitation. The food was on point and displayed so beautiful. This was the second time that they from a far took great care of my families Major milestones. First was my Parents 50th Wedding anniversary, in 2019 with a sit-down dinner for 16 on a busy Saturday night, and today our wedding shower!!! The Greengate is A must if you have a event needed planned. Love the entire experience.
Haven't been to Green Gate in...well...too long. Love the bar area. Nachos for dinner isn't anything outlandish but, for about $10 this was the biggest plate I've ever had. Most delicious. I will also say that, over the last few years, I've had salmon here 5 or 6 different ways & all are outstanding.
Tuesday night's #Jazzintheburbs. This nights talent was The Thirsty Ragtime Trio. They were fantastic!! We had dinner in the bar while listening . Great atmosphere, hospitality and great music! My dinner was fantastic and our bartender was fabulous!I am just sorry I forgot her name. Hat's off to this establishment and their hosts!
Have loved the Greengate for many many years. Their food is so good. Go there! Jen front Otisco Lake
Had not been here in over 20 years, and I know there have been different owners over that time. We decided to stop in last Saturday night and were a little apprehensive because the place was empty on a Saturday night. We were literally the only people there. We sat in the bar and both ordered the meatloaf dinner and it was fantastic. Mashed potatoes with gravy, what's not to like? A real bargain at 17 bucks. By the time we left a few other people came in and We'll be coming back for sure.
Really delicious food. I am pretty sure it's called the Ahi Tuna it by itself is the reason for 5 stars let alone everything else too. Found myself saying wow throughout the whole meal. Perfect mixtures for the drinks as well. Our server was very very nice. I don't remember the price as my visit was a few week ago. However that is how good the food is I am still thinking about it all these weeks later will definitely come back.
First time at the Green Gate Inn. Heard the MacPartland Jazz trio was playing and took a chance on a new place across town. We had awesome food, great service, and to top it all off they make an amazing espresso martini. The music was five star. An entire evening of music that will make you feel good while enjoying great atmosphere. This band brought the passion and enthusiasm that all great Jazz musicians play with! Great night!
Nice atmosphere, great venue for live music and good food ....
Awesome small town bar with some games and a lot of draft beers.
A great restaurant hidden in Camillus. My husband and I have gone by this restaurant for years and finally stopped. So glad we did. Good service and owner is very nice
Go in, order some food and a drink. When the Ron Spencer Band plays, you get the blues as originally intended. You might mistake the singer for Lowell Fulsom. Open your eyes and it’s Mark Gibson, spreading the message. Good times.
Older crowd and very low key on Mondays. Perfect for our gathering. Great beef on weck.
Great place to relax. Nice restaurant/bar. Kinda like "Cheers". I'm definitely going back.
Good food, nice bar, and live Jazz Music on Thursdays. Two thumbs up.
The Green Gate Inn was a nice place to get dinner. It is small and quaint. Appetizers were great. Main course was ok. We had the fish. Service was a little slow but they were very busy. All in all a good night out with friends. I would go back again.
Love the Monday dine in Special. It's a tavern menu Mondays. Isn't really dinning room seating. Went with our usual golf league group. Everyone was pleased with their choices.
Tasty food on a limited menu. Pleasant service from a very limited staff. A worthwhile visit if you're in the area, but not worth a drive.
Great place for a bite to eat and catch some live music. The menu is always inventive and the specials well thought out. Several beers on tap and in bottles and of course other libations are available. The pizza is a great shareable dish and their German cooking is the real deal. Did not care for the seared tuna (cooked perfectly) over sweet potato topped with salsa. The burger and fries always a winner...and get there early if you want a homemade chef special. The meatloaf was AWESOME but we were told it was the last one. Worth a stop inf you're in Camillus and worth the ride if you aren't!
A group of us went to the Gate on Saturday for drinks and to listen to music. Had a great time. The only thing I can say is that it would have been nice to have table service. Instead we had to constantly go to the bar and pick up our own bottles/glasses in order to have a "clean" high top table.
We made a reservation the day before. There was no issue when we got there. The service was completely acceptable throughout our visit. My wife ordered the French onion soup and stuffed cabbage. I ordered the boom boom shrimp quesadilla. The menus is a bit strange, it was just a piece of paper that was printed. I don’t know why somethings were underlined. Some organization on the menu would make it easier to decide. The food was top notch. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and try something else from the menu. The place was clean. The bathroom was a hybrid of a restaurant and a pub. It was fine/clean. They have great music for “jazz in the burbs” on Thursdays
The food was very good... The staff was only half good... Decent waiter.
We were the only diners there, food was good. Our server had no personality....brought us our drinks etc, but not engaging in any way.
Went on a Saturday night, parking here is absolutely horrible. If there are more than 7-8 cars in the parking lot, don't even bother. Drinks were made very well but my double gin and tonic was $16?! Also, the worst part, the band was blood screeching loud, could not hear friends even when yelling, so we had to leave after an hour. Also, there was some kind of drama between the bar tenders and or several patrons.
I had good food and friendly wait staff. As it is a small dining area, it gets very loud very fast as the crowd increases. Add live music and it becomes unbearable . .
Well I was unimpressed. I tried the eggplant Napoleon at the recommendation of my server. It was ok. It was a very large portion for the money though. My guest tried one of the crepes since it's not something you see around here. It was ok. I thought it was thick/ more doughie than a crepe ought to be. We also tried a dessert crepe. Oreo and ice cream inside. I ended up peeling the crepe away.
Bartender not very friendly. Small portion with the broiled fish. Never checked on us. Never even asked us if we wanted a menu. We had to ask. It was early and not busy. We ate in the bar. Very dark.
Food was decent, service was curt and there was a patron that would not stop joining our conversation even after being nicely told-that we came to have a quiet conversation to ourselves. He was "offended," bartender was oblivious, or acting it so we packed our stuff to go. Disappointing, used to love going there. Cold atmosphere now-all the way around.
Plastic utensils, Styrofoam plates. Limited menu..dark . No way to get us back. Even with current restrictions this place is history.
Owner was bartending, it was busy, he was unattentive. Not friendly. Bad service all around, food wasn't great. I won't go back unless they are staffed more appropriately and have friendlier people working.
The food is medicore. My meal tasted like Chinese food. The service is ok. Not the best for your money. Would not recommend you can find much better places.
Me and my wife went here for dinner one night the band was super loud and there wasn't anything separating the restaurant from the pub side. My wife also asked for her steak to be well done because she is pregnant and it came out super raw. Wish I could recommend this but I can't.
I use to come here a lot about 5 years ago even though through bar tender always sucked i liked the homey feel. Last time I went it was nothing but pretty creepy people hanging around and the same awful bartender. I won't be back.
First visit we waited about 45 minutes for our meal. Thought we would try again - the food is good. This time, waited over an hour for our meal! Saw two other couples leave due to the poor service. Felt bad for the wait staff. They are truly overworked and the restaurant is poorly staffed and managed. Had a brief conversation with the owner. He didn’t care that we were dissatisfied customers and never apologized. Back in the day, The Green Gate was a wonderful place to visit and dine in the Village of Camillus. Not anymore.
Went there for a dinner celebration after getting married, and they had only the bar door open, which led into a party post funeral. They didn't have enough menu's for our party which was reserved ahead of time, nor did they have enough wait staff. One table received their food first and were done by the time the rest of the tables received their food. My husband ended up ordering a steak rare, and had to send it back twice, once for being well done and then the second time it was cold and raw. Food was mixed up with tables, and my own burger was so burnt that I barely could eat it. The manager also spoke very unkindly to my mother after the fact. I will never go back there
The owner bartender seems not to like his customers. Will make eye contact with you and walk right past. Not the first time I've been there. Needs an attitude adjustment
Well, that is the last time I go to the Green Gate in Camillus. I am so disappointed because really like the food there but the Bartender has put me over the edge. He was just not very nice at all. A grumpy guy who made our experience a poor one.
This was our first time here. We had heard Good reviews. We ordered 2 beers Stella and Cold Snap. They did not taste like Stella and Cold Snap They did not taste good at all. We ordered an appetizer which was good. The bartender, not very friendly.
My wife and I went here for the first time on Friday night. There was a middle aged man with an accent behind the bar who looked pissed we even walked in. He left the bar for 5 minutes at a time and anytime i asked for drink he acted like i was putting him out. Rudest bartender i have ever met.
I was given a 40 dollar gift certificate to the green gate inn about a year ago. I decided to use it recently. I ordered over the phone with Phillipe the owner. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and wings. Apparently you get three toppings choosing from a list, I didn't see much that interested me so I asked him if I could substitute extra pepperoni in which he replied yes I can do that. So he told me an exact time which I thought was weird as I am used to like a amount of minutes, he said like some weird time like 6:23 or something like that. So I arrived when told. Upon entering the place it was dark, and unfriendly. I handed my gift certificate over to Phillipe while he looked at it while shaking his head , then tells me the gift certificate was only for twenty dollars which I knew was total B.S., it was given to me by my mom she told me it was 40$. Anyways I had to pay an extra 20 on top of the 40 dollar gift certificate because for some insane reason 10 wings and a child sized pizza is 38 dollars there,I was hungry and I figured maybe It was only twenty but it wasn't I called my mom again after and she said It was for fourty. So after being at the time he told me to be there for pickup, naturally I had to wait an extra twenty minutes. No one there was even eating, and it was slow. So I finally get my pizza and it is about 9 inches long with 4 cut pieces and I counted 5 pieces of pepperoni. What a joke. If you want to get taken advantage of ....go here. If you like miserable people like phillipe...go here....if you want undesired and offensive conversation...go here. P.s. krusty the clown called and says he wants his haircut back.
WAY too overpriced. My family's meal combined was a pizza, a wrap, an overdone burger, tater tots (app.), and jägerschnitzel, which came to over $80 with the tip. The menu makes no sense (I never trust a menu that has escargot, schnitzel, and burgers near each other). The waitress was practically non-existent and don't even get me started on the owner.Overall, just go to Coppertop or something else way cheaper and better food.
went there last night for dinner 9/26/15 and ordered a german pork cutlet deep fried with noodles and red cabbage. before the fire, we used to go there many times. liked it then. so the dinner was overcooked and dry. I politely asked if I could exchange it for something else and Natalia (owner) had her server come out and say I have to pay $16.00 for the dinner I couldn't eat and yes, I could order something else. I just was going to leave as nataila's attitude was unprofessional when her daughter came up and said I didn't have to pay for the meal I couldn't eat. so I ordered wings to go and went to the ladies room while we were waiting for the bill etc. Natalia came to out table in front of everyone in the restaurant and told my husband that "he and his wife are never allowed to come in her restaurant again and we had upset her whole staff". we were shocked anyone would act that way. there was a written apology on the receipt for what we had been through. we left a $5.00 tip for the server and left without the wings. I figured they probably would not be "ok" to eat either. I would highly recommend never going there unless you like being treated unprofessionalism. no one should be forced to eat or pay for something that is over cooked and under seasoned.
The beef on weck was delicious as was the cocktails. We would have absolutely loved our experience but our server was quite rude and difficult to deal with. Honestly I dont know how he has a job considering how he talked to our party. Very disappointed with our experience here
The bartender, who was also the server, was rude from the moment we walked in the door. Then, when taking our order, told my mother to get something else because she didn't want lettuce on her wrap. I didn't realize he was eating the food, not my mother. The food was okay at best. Don't go if you expect to be treated nicely. Sad, very poor customer service.
My soup was very good, but my dinner entrée wasn't as expected. Had my dinner been prepared properly, I would give more stars for the food as I think there is potential there. The biggest issue was the service. In addition to being inattentive, the service was curt and uncivil. I know the waiter was busy, so I would give a lot of accommodation for being very busy, but his behavior was really unpleasant regardless of whether he was busy. Our party was afraid to even talk around him given the way he treated us and it brought down our experience considerably. He kept bumping into one member of our party when reaching over to set food and drinks down on the table and it was uncomfortable. One person didn't get their drink and we had to keep asking for refills. One of our party said it was the most awkward dinner she had ever been to, and it was all attributed to the service. I suspect regulars have a better experience considering the positive reviews I see, but I wouldn't think it should matter how often you go. Never returning here. I hate not supporting local restaurants, but this was just so unpleasant, I had to be honest.
Tried calling to do takeout February 9,2024 about 6pm and phone busy.Tried few more times, still busy.Went elsewhere to order food. This happened few months ago-took an hour to get through. When went to get food, guy at bar(believe an owner) told me takes phone off hook when bar gets busy. Their food generally good but no longer worth waiting for phone to be operational.
Unfortunately, my birthday celebration at Green Gate was a letdown. My parents, especially my mom with mobility difficulties, struggled to get in. The bartender's rude comment about not serving us until 4:30 didn't help set a positive tone. The website states they open at 3pm and we went at 4 to beat the Saturday night dinner rush. No rush no one besides bar customers were present , Things only got worse from there. The bartender also acted as our server, and his attitude was appalling. He seemed angry and resentful, like he didn't want us there. He kept telling us they were out of various items, then disappeared into the kitchen, leaving us waiting. When he didn't return promptly, we decided to leave and find a better experience elsewhere. What really took the cake was his complete lack of concern or apology when we let him know we were leaving. It was clear he wasn't bothered in the least. I wouldn't set foot in this place again if you paid me. The atmosphere was uninviting, with an old, unpleasant smell. It seems to be more of a bar than a restaurant, and not a very welcoming one at that. To others, be forewarned: Green Gate is not worth your time or money. *1/5 stars* would be generous.
