since covid we have started doing ice cream fridays. Previously we would order and end up getting from ubereats. Since getting vaccinated we decided to try a new place every week. That's how we ended up here. We had Oreo sundae and starwberry Sundae and their fosters fries (cheese and onions). I must say I have lived in this area for so many years, drove by this place millions of times and why did I not try it sooner. Their fries were so crispy Inspite of their special sauce on top. And there was enough sauce not just drizzle on top. The kids loved their ice cream. I tried out a few bites from both and I would next time get an ice cream for myself and not share 😋. Highly recommended.

While doing laundry at a nearby laundromat, I came across this little gem of a restaurant bordering Las Gatos and Campbell. Delicious ordered the Double Combo with waffle fries and everything was Fantastic, cashier took my order ( sorry didn’t get her name ) and prepared it all within 5 minutes. I have to say it was lunch time and there was only 1 person other than myself, Why?? We as consumers really need to support small businesses like this from extinction. Take me word for it stop by and give them a shot you won’t regret it I promise. Only thing that could have made the experience better is if they offered car hop service but due to small parking lot, I guess that would not work. To the Owners keep up the good work and I’ll be stopping buy again real soon.

This location puts what I think is thousand Island dressing kinda like McDonald's but I come here because it NOT McDonald's.They probably would have given me real mayo and mustard if I had asked so not really a negative on them.I dont remember the SJ 4th st. Or Milpitas using this sauce instead of mayo..o well. Burgers are so much better than other places and no one can beat there Ice cream products : shakes, soft serve cones, banana splits on and on!

So I went here on Christmas Eve night and they were open... I was actually across the street in a drive thru that wasn't moving. All I wanted was a couple shakes. We got a Rocky Road and a Butterfinger shake and some hot and fresh Fries. It's a little pricey but it was exactly what I was craving.

They will turn any Shake into a malt and have an entire additional menu of flavors that cannot fit on the main menu!

Had driven by, never thought to stop... but you should stop here. Especially on a cold damp autumn night. I had the Fosters Double Decker combo! Yum! The crinkle cut fries were tender and crispy... she had the Old Fashion w/ Cheese but mayo instead of Fosters sauce... I had a bite of that -- so good.

Super classic spot! Super simple, get a cone! Great price, great taste, cannot be beat on a hot day. Also, banana shake is my low key favorite. My wife and I argue it's between this spot and Falafel Drive In for rights to the best banana shake. Try it and be the judge! Enjoy

I wouldn't mortally go five star for a fast food place. We went here to take a unity photo supporting a friends cancer battle. We needed a photo (shown) so we were about to take a four person self and include the sign and all. There was a young man sitting near us and in Foster Freeze uniform on his phone and obviously on break. Thinking it would be too much trouble however I asked anyway. Eli jumped up and with warm smile, enthusiasm and just the right amout of vigor and temperament; took several pictures . He caught exactly the image we wanted and had described to him. Eli thank you! And to the owner or hiring manager thank you so much for having the wherewithal to hire quality people like Eli. Oh yeah ...dessert was awesome also! Mmmm....ice crem:)))

Got the double cheeseburger, French fries and a vanilla shake. Best burger I've had in a long time. The shake was creamy and thick also the best I've had in awhile. Worth the money!

This is a wonderful little ice cream shop I stopped by while I stayed one night in San Jose. Beware! The line can get long. I like the fact the place is open late, thus catering to a variety of audiences who like to stay up later at night. The shake was great. There wasn't anything else to mention, except the fact the prices have gotten so high in the last few years (no fault of foster's freeze of their own).

I love finding these cool little places. I wanted some ice cream and we found this little place. It was really good ice cream and there food was really good. My husband ordered Worm N Dirt twister and I got the Rocky Road twister. I do suggest ordering a small if your not wanting a lot of ice cream. I know we couldn't finish our mediums. We also tried their chili cheese fries, that chili was good. I tried out the corn dog and it was yummy. So try this place, you will not be disappointed.

Same as it ever was. Just like when we were kids. Great spot for a softie. Order from the window like the good olde days. Just needs waitresses on skates with window trays, a big softie statue and a bunch of hot rods parked outside. When's the next sock hop?

Prices for the small cone alittle high, with all those I would need to buy for. I understand the inflation issues higher wages and such. But I would have to keep it for a date night or treat with my husband, not for family treats.

Always a good place to get your sundae, parfait, soft serve or milkshake fix. It is getting pretty pricey, like everything else these days, but worth it for a nice treat now and then.

Fosters Freeze is good spot for fast food. The quality of the food has changed from yester-years but still better than other fast food restaurants.

We stop there a couple/few times per month on our way home from Good Samaritan Hospital or one of numerous doctors we visit near there. Shakes are way better than most burger joints. The Vanilla is just super, but the Very Berry is outstanding. Burgers are always a cut above any other burger place like McD/BKing/C-Jr/etc. Onion Rings are nice and crunchy, but NOT soggy and don't dripping with cheap oils. Almost 5 ⭐. Not quite. I stopped to get ice cream treats for my old friends. No chocolate double dip topping! Still, the naked ice cream cone was good. What would U do about it? The building is old, it sure if it should be torn down and rebuilt or just supper cleaned. Floors looked dirty not all tables were cleaned even though at the time I was there there were only 2 other customers. One customer at the outside window when I showed up. Long time neighborhood staple. Love their crispy chicken sandwich with extra lettuce & tomato added. They have external order & pickup windows, and of course the legendary chocolate dipped cones.

Empirically there isn't much reason to eat here if you don't know why you are doing it. The soft serve is pretty typical, the things from the griddle and fryer basket are also unremarkable. You can find more modern, cleaner places with better food for less money. So why eat here anyway? Well, that's the interesting thing really... Foster's Freeze grew up out of the same post WWII social and economic conditions that launched so many famous fast-food chains but somehow they never quite made it really big. Born in a time of hopefulness and never quite making it big yet also strangely hanging on even in the face of what are sometimes long odds. In this way they are emblematic of the American Dream. As a result of being present but never saturating an area, the locations tend to stand out as a bit unusual, and since there isn't such corporate pressure toward conformity (that's expensive) the locations tend to more closely reflect their local area and also be a bit dated. If you parents and grandparents took you for french-fries and soft-serve here and you remember the building, well remember it in better days perhaps but it's still comforting. So if the building and fixtures are dated, the menu a bit simple, and the whole thing is a bit shabby... well that's an American institution in it's own way, now isn't it?

They offer cash discount, but I still felt like old people reading the menu like $5 small cone, $10 cheeseburger? I kept hearing a grandma in my head saying "in my day it was a nickel!" Count me sticker-shocked

I love their milkshakes, but their prices have gone way too high. For example, for the same price I can get double the amount at well known diner that's name starts with a D ends with a 's! Unfortunately D doesn't have the pineapple flavor. 🙁

It’s a Fosters freeze just like it’s intended… nothing fancy, but classic burgers, fries, and onion rings… of course the various soft serve concoctions and milkshakes are a must. This is old skool Americana and it’s great this place is still around so I can get a taste whenever I want to go eat at a Classic American Time Machine…

The food was very delicious!! But customer service was not so good, so needs improvement. We tried calling this place multiple times and no answer because on Yelp it appeared to be closed. Since we were driving by the area and looking for a place to grab and go meal. Eli was really helpful and understanding. Our order was wrong we were missing some fries and shakes. Good thing we checked before leaving the parking lot. I usually take pictures of the location and food but was too busy checking everything. Overall compared to the pictures of the menu taken a month ago to 12/10/21 the prices have increased to what we paid if I compare it to my receipt. In my opinion, it was pricy but worth a meal! The pumpkin spice shake was so delicious! Next time I’ll try their twisters and other yummy sweet desserts. The fries from this place were great haven’t had fries like that elsewhere. For reference, we ordered 6 people. 1 grilled chicken combo L fries, L soda, 1 grilled chicken, 2 corns dogs, peppermint shake M, double-decker combo with L fries and L oreo shake, chicken spicy como small fries, medium lemonade, a double-decker with L fries and Medium pumpkin spice shake with whipped cream. Everyone enjoyed their meal! Overall we paid $95.04 with taxes.

Don't get a dipped cone on a hot day unless you're prepared with lots of napkins. It tastes great (not as good as DQ), but it's drippy, sticky, and messy, so be ready.

I walked up and noticed the Conditional Pass sign on window. I didn't want to eat there ... but friends did. I just got a half and half dipped cone. Slightly "melty" and "drippy" on side. I ate it fast so no pics.

Unfortunately not a good family atmosphere. They do not enforce no smoking in outside area within 25 feet of the door for inside seating. Couldnt enjoy a family night out to get an ice cream cone. Outside tables were dirty and sticky. Definitely no longer the place they were years ago. They don't enforce handicapped parking. We pulled into the handicapped and there was a corvette in the next spot which was for handicapped person to enter or edit the car. I am handicapped with a walked. This parking is right in front of the window where you order. No one told the guy in the corvette anything. When my son said respectfully thats not a parking spot. The guy stepped up to my son and tried to start a fight. If Foster Freeze would have enforced the handicapped policy this wouldnt have happened. I'm going to report this to Campbell police so they can start to patrol. Needless to say I wont be back.

Staff is very friendly. French frys are crisp and good. Burgers are also good . I am very disappointed order burger thought.it would be fresh cooked well seen the cook open a tray and place it om the grill then complete the burger and micro wave it !!!. Main issue hard to see menu maybe have some flyers for the customers. Also comes up really quick on camden.

When we arrived there was only two people in front of us. There were 11 of us in a group spent almost $70. Most of the employees were helpful and kind but one young lady making the order rude belligerent and when she got part of the order wrong, she refused to remake it. Without the receipt, which didn't make a great deal of sense, seeing as the order was on her screen. We presented the receipt, pointed out where the error was to proceeded to slam the cup down for the great attitude on the counter. I don't think I'll be back here again.

Just so so lately. Got a caramel malt today that tasted like a cup of ice cream. When I brought it up to the staff they told me how I actually got twice the caramel. I don't know if they are defensive or the ingredient quality had gone downhill. The rest of our order was fine though.

Corn dogs were find, Sundae was good. Asked an employee for 3 extra cherries and the Manager got upset and wanted to charge me over $1 per extra cherry. Seriously? Could get a whole bottle of cherries for $3, there’s really no need to be so frugal with them.

Better than dairy Queen, the burgers and the ice cream are "okay" ,the fries are not recommended even though it only came with like 3 French fries with the meal I threw them away. Go to wienerzneitzel for fries instead

I asked for a fish sandwich and a root beer freeze, but they sold me a combo with fries. Got my fish sandwich, opened up the wrapper, and found a thick black hair staring back at me, hanging out of the bun. Asked for a refund and a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon as a replacement. They refunded me $7 and change, I guess for the sandwich only. The grilled cheese had extra bacon, but it was very limp and fatty. The freeze was very solid, not mixed well.

Order a banana strawberry freeze, and it had an acidic taste. I'm not sure if it was the strawberries they used or the milk that was spoiled. Whatever it was, I wouldn't get it again

Two small vanilla milkshakes and a small fries came out to $21!! Mediocre food and small portions for fine dining rates.

We ordered 5 old fashioned hamburgers, fries and drinks for close to $65 and the burgers tasted like cardboard, the buns and fries were stale and the drinks were the only thing that were ok. Even my 7 year old nephew commented on how bad his burger was. It was such a massive disappointment because we’ve had hamburgers from the Wilmington, Ca Foster’s and they were great. I would not recommend their burgers or fries. Their dipped cones are good.

I ordered the Old fashioned which is kind if this places "main" burger. Sadly it's nothing like it used to be. This particular Fosters was sold to a new owner a few years ago and sadly while the prices have steadily gone up, the food has gone downhill. The milkshakes and other ice cream treats are still delicious but the food just keeps getting worse. Their fries used to be very good and now are tasteless. They even charge you 30cents just to get a small side of ranch with your fries.

We felt the urge to its to go back in time to my youth tonite. So we went to fosters freeze for dinner. I had a chili cheese dog. My wife a hot dog, and my son chicken strips, fries, soda and shake. All told we spent 50 bucks, and all of us walked away hungry. Although the food tasted good, the food volume has decreased enormously in the dozen or so years since I last ate here. The hot dog was barely 1/3 of an inch in diameter, there was less than 2 tablespoons of chili in that bun, and virtually zero cheese. A few flecks on the wrapper only... Seriously, that thing cost 7 bucks! Same story for my wife's hot dog and my sons chicken strips meal, although his was by far the largest of us three. Yeah, it tasted about the same as it used to, but value per dollar, this is probably the worst food value in the entire bay area. Definitely an eye opening experience for me. After tonight's experience, it will probably be another 12 years before we come back again too..

Too expensive!! The Google menu price was $4.60 for the old fashioned single burger but at the store it was $8!! We got chili cheese fries, old fashioned single, and a Sunday and it came out to $30... Just go to an actual restaurant. Only got two stars instead of one because the workers were kind

I love Foster's Freeze, I really do. I grew up eating their food quite often and I consider it to be one of the best fast food places around. But this is the second time I've shown up within the hours that they have posted, and they aren't open. Not sure if this is a case of poor management or understaffing, but if you're going to keep closing early then you need to change your posted hours. Normally this wouldn't be such a big deal, but at 11:08 not many food places are open and it's a slight race against time to arrive at a restaurant that IS open, especially for people like me that get off work extremely late. At the very least, leave some signage explaining the situation and whether or not normal hours will resume at a later date.

I usually like greasy spoon type places, but this place is no good. The service was great and quick, but the food was terrible. Small portions, over cooked. The ice cream has a weird flavor. They put a lot of toppings in the twister, which sounds good, but it was way too much.

This Foster's Freeze is just like any other Foster's Freeze in appearance, however that is where the similarities ended for us. The very first annoyance was that person taking the orders could not hear/understand what was being said by us. However the person manning the grill five feet away could understand/hear just fine. Second. The person at the grill (possibly the manager) and the order taker start an agreement. The grill man shouting orders and the other saying, yeah, yeah, yeah. Third. The grill guy chews out a customer for using the hand cleaner. The grill guy saying that he reach around the plexiglass. Well I didn't see the event but no excuse to chew out the customer. Fourth and final. The burgers were greasy and unappealing. Picture attached. I am having a queasy stomach as I write this.

Way over priced, inside area is old and not the cleanest. Food is sub par, doubt we'll be back. Came back for some twister. Almost 8 bucks for a small!! It's just not worth the money!!

Normally I like Fosters but this one is terrible. Wet soggy buns, lettuce chopped super small and dripping wet, fries soggy and undercooked with several, not just one, super burnt onion ring in my tiny portion of fries. And they forgot our drink. If you want a classic good fosters experience go somewhere else. The Boulder Creek and santa cruz locations are awesome.

I took my son out for a late lunch today. It was a toss up between Foster Freeze & Der Wienersnitzel. My son wanted FF. As they say, first impressions say it all. We should've left immediately and walked down to Der Weinersnitzel. My son wanted to try it. From the walk up window inside the dinning room you could see it wasn't very clean. The staff of 3 were so rude. They weren't even busy. It cost $35.36 for our meal which was really a shock! Two smaal burgers (no cheese) a medium fry & a small unsweetened tea. The fries were the ONLY good thing about the place. We took one bite and a sip of my unsweetened tea because ("they don't got sweet & low or any kind of sugar"). This was explained after the fact, and tossed it in the trash!🤮 The cashier had the nerve to ask my son to come back and buss his own table, (there was packets of cathup left behind). Unbelievable! We left and walked down to Der Wienersnitzel and spent more money but the food is consistent a fresh there. Think again before you stop in. In a word Gross!!

$3.50 for what equates to a can of soda. Half the menu is a complete scam. The ice cream is just ok.

The twister and the milkshake we ordered were both disappointing. Despite paying a lot and leaving a tip, the quality of the items did not match the price. We asked for one of the items to be remade, but the replacement was just as bad as the original. This happened around 9:30 pm tonight with two women working at the store. Things seem to go well only when the older gentleman staffer is on duty. I would recommend saving your money and making your ice cream treats at home, where you can enjoy them precisely the way you like.

Rundown burger joint that just needs to call it quits already! They don't even try to make you happy. This place charges for a condiment! The burger tastes horrible! Meat is low quality. Honestly everything is low quality at this establishment. On top of all that a simple cheeseburger combo costs over $20. Do not go here unless you like to eat garbage.

I went in today to have lunch and I ordered the double decker meal in paid 17.99 for whatever cost it was up there though and the lady didn't even put two burgers in there and when I told her that she only had one Burger in there and that I paid all that money for a double decker meal she told me she was going to check the cameras like I hid the other Patty somewhere I will never go there again that was the second time that they had did something to my food that wasn't correct and she wouldn't even refund me and to say she's going to check the video because she put two patties in there when there was only one and we showed her right when we opened it is ridiculous when we left we asked if she checked the video to the other employee and he said she never came out and told us nothing but in reality there was nothing in there two pieces of cheese and old tomato and one patty what a shame

The quality of the food is going down but the prices keep going up. I ordered a small twister.it was 11$ for 2 toppings. Cheese cake/reeses. The ice cream was melted and chunks blended In way to much it tasted like a penutbutter smoothie. It felt like i was eating a jar of cold melted pennut butter and not ice cream. I use to love the food here but the quality of it gets worst every time i come.
