Tucked away in a multi-level shop area that is part of a hill slope. Very nice restaurant with relaxed seating areas outside. We ordered eggs Benedict, a mushroom burger, and a tuna melt sandwich. Everything was tasty and the service was good. We very much enjoyed eating here.

Came here early Saturday morning with a group of friends and was seated right away with no wait time. The restaurant provided indoor and outdoor seating. The food was delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals. I had ordered the cinnamon roll pancake and the carmel omelette. The pancake was crispy tasting the cinnamon per bite. Couldn’t finish the pancake and saved it for two days, pancake had its texture if you toast it for a few minutes. The omelette was really good paired with the fruit cup. Overall it was a good relaxing sit back vibe at this breakfast spot. Will be back when I’m in Carmel again.

The breakfast was amazing! The omelet was stuffed with toppings, and it felt like two thick slices of real bacon were inside. The potatoes were seasoned deliciously. I still dream about this breakfast after leaving vacation.

My husband and I love this place! The food is very delicious. They serve the most amazing and savory banana walnut pancakes. I loved that we were able to order our personalized “from scratch skillet”. We had a skillet with three eggs, avocado, sour cream, ham, potatoes, cheese, and spinach with wheat toast. It was so filling and delicious! Personally, it was more than enough for two. But heck, we ate all of it! The employees are so friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place as their food is delicious and there is a variety of options!

Loved our sweet lady server. The brunch food was good, if a bit heavy and greasy. I didn’t realize the cheesy grits came fried. The extreme biscuit brunch is pretty sausage forward. Overall though we were in and out on a Sunday brunch around 10A quickly, which was great.

We have been to From Scratch several times and whenever we have visitors it is one of our go-to places, especially for breakfast. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. We have tried almost all the vegetarian dishes and everything was very tasty, and the portions are more than adequate, even for good eaters. We can particularly recommend the vegetarian breakfast sausage, the breakfast roll and the huevos rancheros.

We got there at 7:55 and there was already a line. So get there early if you don’t want to wait . There was plenty of free parking which is a plus! Atmosphere was great. The fire place was a great touch. We got a booth inside but They do have outdoor setting with patio heaters if that’s that you prefer Ordered the French toast, a skillet, bowl of Chili with brisket, and a plate of biscuits and grave. The biscuit and gravy is more on the sweat side but it was still good. Chili was okay. We aren’t big Chili fans but we had to try it. No complaints on the skillet and French toast .

Oh my! A must try for breakfast. I had one blueberry pancake that filled the whole plate. It was fluffy, light and delicious. Hubby had the special of the day. 2 pumpkin pancakes with pecans! Wow! It was great, too. He ordered pure maple syrup for $2.25 more. I stuck with the regular syrup that came with the meal. It came warm and we both agreed it was better than the pure stuff. A small bowl of fruit came with the meal that wasn’t the best fruit. The cantaloupe was hard and the pineapple wasn’t sweet! But everything else was so good it made up for having a little unripe fruit. Oh, and I don’t want to forget that the coffee was delicious and had free refills!

Overall - this place has big portions but be prepared to wait for it. They do not take reservations. Parking: plenty of free parking. You can park in the spots behind the mall too. Location: the description on the website was lengthy. Basically you can access the restaurant from any direction in the mall, and you can park anywhere. I think the easier way is to find Synchronicity Holistic in the parking lot and go toward Allegro. Follow the walkway into the mall. You have to walk down some steps to reach From Scratch. On a Saturday afternoon, it was about 15-20 minutes wait for four people. They text you when the table is ready. You can browse inside their adjacent shop to kill time. Food: I loved the sampler plate $23! The chili was so good. I enjoyed the apricot jam with the cheesy biscuit. The banana walnut pancakes were ok. They were a good size. (If you want real maple syrup, it's an extra charge.) The tuna avocado salad was only ordered because we needed some kind of veggie. We ended up taking home the leftover lettuce. There was so much of it. The coffee latte is served in a glass cup, but it's a hot drink. Service: good. They are friendly. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. Bathroom: there is only one stall. If you go out to the left of the restaurant, you can find more restrooms upstairs.

Breakfast Lunch Diner place nestled in the middle of Barnyard in Carmel. The waiting to be seated indoor, outdoor or patio is unbelievably long but worth the wait , they note your preference of seating and send you a text message that gives you real time progress updates on your waiting time remaining and how many parties ahead of your turn to be seated. Our wait was a little over an hour but it was because we went during the prime brunch time of 12pm and 1pm . Our text message to be seated next came promptly and till then we walked around the shops in the barn yard and sat in the garden area soaking up some beautiful golden sunshine. We were seated inside and order taken promptly and served as well. The server was exceptionally courteous and attentive. The ambience is great for noisy conversations but notably a lot of youngsters were present in couples than the loud and larger noisy groups. Pricing wise it was aptly priced and in my opinion not too expensive considering it was Carmel. They have 2 restrooms for access and were clean and well stocked. Worth the visit for the hype (of waiting) 😀👍

We went here because of the reviews and because it was on the way to Point Lobos. There was plenty of parking on a Saturday around 11am. When we got to the restaurant we had to wait about 15 minutes. Once we got seated, our waiter took our drink order right away and got our drinks in less than ten minutes. My screwdriver did taste light. Once our waiter took our food order, our food came out in less than fifteen minutes. My son's quesadilla was good and cheesy. My French toast felt dry and I added a lot of syrup to take some of the dryness away. My husband's Benedict needed more flavor and one of the eggs was not poached right. Not sure if we would go back and order other food, but it was disappointing.

**WARNING!! DO NOT MAKE ANY MISTAKES WHILE WAITING FOR YOUR TABLE AT THIS RESTAURANT. EVEN IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME. We had a 20-30 minute wait which is fine. I completely understand no complaint there. I eat out pretty much daily at full service restaurants. I’m fully aware of how operations are and how staff “should” treat customers. We walked around the little shopping room and the plaza while we were waiting. We noticed the cell phone service wasn’t choppy so we went back to wait so we didn’t miss the text. We had a group of 6 and I personally had no interaction with the waitress until I heard someone mistakenly say our table is ready so I walked over to the table and the hostess looked at me like DEATH and said “are you Lori?” I was like no… and she was like THIS IS NOT YOUR TABLE. YIKES OMG okay so I want back to stand with our group and she said “you guys need to move this is a walk way, I already told you that” so rudely. Well again. I’ve never had any interaction with her so I wasn’t aware you can’t wait there. Then someone in our group went back to her after we finally sat and wanted to say we are really nice people and they just stared at him then told all the staff and just stared at our table so we were hoping no one would put something in our food. Like where is the manager at this point??? Our waiter was nice and the food was good.

I’m Not Ok With Mess

Do not waste your time or money on this overpriced, overrated place unless you enjoy a whole order of gnats & flies with your meal. It was the worse I have ever experienced anywhere. The flies are one thing but the gnats, which were everywhere is an indication of filthiness despite the image the dining area attempts to convey. I cannot believe I turned my nose up at Black Bear over this place. I am extremely disappointed over the experience. I only wish my only loss was the $100 spent but it wasn’t. What was suppose to be a nice enjoyable moment has left me completely dissatisfied. I wish you could see all the bugs in my photos but unfortunately they were moving faster than I could keep up with. I lost my appetite over the conditions and tried to cancel my order but unfortunately it had already been prepared so I asked for it to be packaged to go, even though I had No intention of eating it given my keen observation of things. I wanted to leave that package food on that table as a clear indication of my disgust, however, out of regard for those I was with who managed to fan off the bugs as they quickly woofed down their food, I didn’t.
