Ottimo ristorante. Cucina di livello molto elevato. Ottimi gli antipasti, squisiti i primi piatti, prelibati i secondi piatti, sopraffini i dessert. Notevole la lista dei vini. Luogo estremamente piacevole. Prezzi allineati con la qualità del cibo, senza esagerare. Consigliato a chi vuole un'esperienza gustativa particolare.
A high-quality restaurant, with carefully prepared and beautifully presented dishes. The food is original in flavor and the ingredients are carefully selected. Excellent wine selection. Congratulations!
We had the pleasure of organizing our wedding lunch at Sole. The location is traditional but extremely well-finished in details, the courtyard and the garden below where the children could play are beautiful. We started with an aperitif in the courtyard and followed by lunch under the porch, quality and care in every dish. Thank you Francesca for this beautiful day. We will have a memory forever.
I've known Albergo del Sole since the 1970s. I had the privilege of meeting the parents of the current owners, Franco and Silvana. I was just a child, but I remember the dishes they lovingly presented to their guests. The onion soup in broth, the stew with polenta, and not to mention the famous sabbiosa with mascarpone cream! Flavors that have remained in my heart. Today, years later, I've returned to Albergo del Sole, where their children Mario and Francesca continue their parents' mission with great skill. Seeing the elegant, warm, and welcoming restaurant again took me back 45/50 years. With a few changes and embellishments, the restaurant harks back to the past, but with an air of renewal and elegance... there's the fireplace where, using a system of pulleys with stone weights, a mechanical rotisserie with no motor would slowly rotate, loaded with meat roasting over a wood fire. Next door, an open kitchen displayed a cauldron with polenta always ready and piping hot. I was very surprised to see that fireplace and rotisserie again, no longer functioning, but still there in its place. The small refectory in the middle of the room where chef Franco once hosted guests in a unique and unforgettable convivial experience. Well, today that refectory is there in its place, and his son Mario maintains that tradition—a jewel in the crown, to be commended! Lunch was a discovery of incredible flavors and pairings, always respecting local ingredients and traditional local cuisine, yet with innovation and elegance. Nothing is out of place; Mario knows how to take care of his guests and offer a truly enjoyable, almost old-fashioned experience. The quality, excellent cuisine, service, and the extensive wine selection from their cellar are worthy of great praise. The prices are in line with the excellent quality and skill of the Chef and the location. A 10 out of 10.
I had lunch there after hearing about it for a long time, and I chose the "happy memory" menu. My welcome was a saffron rice arancini filled with ossobuco marrow and seasoned with the cooking sauce. It couldn't have been a better welcome. The chestnut risotto with chanterelles and salva cremasco was excellent, even though I don't like mushrooms. The cockerel alla diavola was perfectly cooked. The "sabbiata" (literally, "sandy") with mascarpone cream was delicious. It's an hour's drive from my house, but it would be worth even longer. February 7, 2025: I returned today to have that lunch with my 84-year-old father that I didn't manage the first time. Thank you for putting the cherry on top of the day I spent with him.
First time at this wonderful restaurant. The location is charming and beautifully decorated. The dishes are exquisite, high-quality, and made with excellent ingredients. The service is fast, friendly, and attentive. The prices are reasonable for the selection and quality. If you're in the area, it's a must-see. I'll definitely be back.
My dining experience was simply EXCELLENT. The helpfulness of the staff, the kindness of the owner, and the professionalism of the chef were all elements that made my evening truly special. I hope to return soon.
You should go if you enjoy good food, you like polite owners and staff, and you love the fireplace in the winter and the small garden in the summer. You shouldn't go if you expect to find a random, overflowing plate of pasta because you value quantity over quality (mind you, the portions are adequate, but I've read some horrendous reviews). You shouldn't go if you expect to eat and pay like McDonald's. Just look around; that's enough to tell you where you're going. I go there about once a month. The menu is fantastic, always changing slightly, offering new dishes that are always delicious. Politeness is a must, a rare commodity these days. If you stay at the hotel, you won't regret it.
The experience is top-notch: from the service to the tableware to the hospitality of the place itself. As for the food, you get the distinct feeling that everything has been designed to be served with grace and elegance. The combinations of each dish range from traditional to more daring and modern, yet always respectful of the authentic flavors of the Lodi area. Having visited many restaurants in the area, I can confidently say that if you're looking for quality, service, and a location, you'll definitely find it at Sole di Maleo.
Visited for the Lodigiana Cuisine Festival, a beautiful and evocative location. The cuisine is excellent, with dishes that please the eye with their presentation and the palate with their truly excellent ingredients. The wines are also noteworthy, and the convivial atmosphere created by the arrangement of several tables transforms a simple dinner into a truly enjoyable evening. The price...commensurate with the location and the quality of the cuisine. Definitely recommended.
Visited for several days some 30 years ago when Sr. Franco Colombani was the owner and proprietor along with his family. The most magical place with the best food I've ever had, even to this day!
Top!!!
I've personally never had the opportunity to stay at this hotel because I only frequent it as a restaurant on special occasions, like today, to celebrate the arrival of Christmas. We had lunch today after a morning at work at this restaurant, which is and always will be one of the most beautiful restaurants in the area, especially in the summer. An outdoor dinner in the beautiful garden is ideal. The food was excellent. The pear ravioli and the chickpea main course were delicious.
The food is excellent, and reflects Piacenza's tradition. Spectacular appetizers, first courses worthy of applause...as are the second courses, and desserts worthy of a papal bull, with a 20-star grape sorbet. The attention to anti-COVID procedures is noteworthy. In April, the months of many birthdays in my family, we'll be returning without hesitation.
A hidden gem in the Lombardy Countryside. the 14th Century Inn offer a great selection of regional dishes in an idyllic setting
Location storica nel centro di Maleo. L'accoglienza è solare e ci mette subito a nostro agio. Pranziamo fuori tutto è curato in ogni particolare.
The restaurant is beautiful and pleasant. Decorated in the old style, with a long table and a huge fireplace that used to be the country kitchen. We tried the cured meats with giardiniera, the nettle lasagna, the cockerel, and even their mascarpone cake. What can I say? Exceptional!!! The service and customer service are also excellent. It deserves top marks. ------- We returned two years later. The restaurant is still certainly good, with good service and good food. But it has gone up quite a bit in price, and the portions aren't exactly generous (but they shouldn't be, either). Two years ago, the BR menu cost €50 and included four courses (not huge), water, and coffee. Now it has three courses, no water, no coffee, and costs €60 (so +40% since not only are they 20% more expensive, but the menu also contains less). A first course à la carte is €22. I think the prices have become too high for the context.
It's difficult to describe places like this restaurant because it's not enough to say the food is good, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is beautiful. Entering and savoring the dishes, you understand you're having a historic experience: a well-kept place that transports you to the past, recipes that are not only historic but also delicious, all accompanied by excellent service. A few notes: - the cured meats were excellent, especially the coppa... fantastic. - the giardiniera was very flavorful (perhaps too much for those accustomed to thinking of it as delicate; here you can taste the vinegar, as it should be!) - the onion soup could be discussed for hours. I've tried many in both Italy and France, but here they make it with an old French recipe, without gratin (and I know, you'll think it will lose its flavor, as I did when they told me) and with milk. Try it; it's the best onion soup I've ever had. In closing: if you're in the area, you absolutely must try it. If you're not in the area, go specifically (like I did today)—you won't regret it, guaranteed! The prices are reasonable; if you have any questions, the menu and prices are available on the restaurant's website.
Excellent restaurant. Old building but cosy
Absolutely NOT RECOMMENDED for the Lodi food festival. If you include water and coffee (3 euros), you'll spend 50 euros each and leave the restaurant still hungry. A small taste of the first course and a small taste of the second course make you laugh when they bring your plate (the portion is so small and invisible). Not to mention an extra 17 euros for politely asking if you could have another taste of the first course. Failed! Don't go!
