We stumbled upon it by chance, due to a reservation error, and I was glad for that mistake, because otherwise I wouldn't have discovered this place. The chef explains his dishes and prepares them with all his passion, using excellent ingredients. You'll find unique and diverse dishes, and this probably makes it not for everyone, but for those who want to discover more. Everything is done slowly; the chef tends to just a few tables, which makes for a calm, relaxed, and quiet atmosphere. Having a Christmas dinner with friends, being able to chat calmly without hearing the stories coming from other tables, is a precious thing. Go there, you won't regret it.
We went to this restaurant based on the reviews, and I have to say the experience was even better! I had the kidney skewers and pork snout, which were absolutely amazing. My partner had the salami and bigoli with ragù, which were also spectacular. Excellent value! Four courses, two desserts, and a bottle of wine for €25, cost us €86 in total. We'll definitely be back! Excellent!!!! This is my assessment of this small but well-maintained restaurant in the center of Casteggio. The restaurant is well-maintained and quiet, thanks to the owner's preference for seating no more than six people. It's perhaps a little chilly given the room's temperature. Massimiliano personally prepares delicious, original, and flavorful dishes, beautifully balanced, showcasing the flavors of the Oltrepó region. Try the suckling pig in tuna sauce, the kidney with red onions, and the shocking pink rice with beetroot and mustard drops. Furthermore, Massimiliano shares his knowledge with his customers, and does so with kindness and courtesy, free from any pretensions. You can tell he truly loves his job. A true discovery, worth trying again and again. Excellent. The table settings could be improved: given the cotton napkins, perhaps a real tablecloth would be better than paper placemats. The price is reasonable for the quality of the ingredients, all locally sourced. In conclusion, a restaurant to return to again and again.
We weren't familiar with the place. We relied on the reviews provided by other users and were very satisfied. The chef is very friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable. The wait staff is very kind and discreet. The dishes are exquisite. I recommend them!
We were passing through a comic book convention and decided to eat at this restaurant. The chef describes the entire menu in detail, even detailing the provenance of the ingredients. I really appreciate this kind of welcome, because seeing someone so knowledgeable and passionate makes me want to eat. I wasn't particularly hungry, but after the best tripe of my life, I thought to myself, "This is too good, let's try something else." So for my main course, I ordered a duck dish. I can't describe how the chef prepared it, but I think I could have eaten it until I was sick. I can only say that it was one of the best restaurant experiences of my life. I paid the bill, happy to have had this experience. It's a shame we're so far away, but considering how I ate here, I'll definitely drive an hour and a half. My sincerest compliments, chef.
Chosen because the menu on social media looked unique, and given our intense curiosity, we found ourselves celebrating an important holiday (arriving on a Vespa), in a family atmosphere with chef Massimiliano, who immediately put us at ease. His meticulous explanation of the passionately crafted menu piqued our curiosity and encouraged us to try several dishes. We chose the endive with guacamole, the vegetarian gyoza 🥟, the Piedmontese sushi 🍣, and the rabbit kushiyaki. While we waited, the chef treated us to his salted suckling pig with hazelnut oil (super delicious). I found reinterpretations of dishes that blend Eastern and Western elements that please both the eye and the palate, effectively allowing us to try new combinations and flavors. All accompanied by excellent Buttafuoco "Verdi." The price is commensurate with the experience, I don't understand criticisms about the bill, considering that the restaurant is not in competition with Turkish kebab, pizzerias and trattorias... Top.

Excellent venue, excellent service, and top-notch food. The attention to detail and the bold yet balanced flavors stand out. This is definitely a three-course restaurant, carefully crafted to leave you satisfied at the end of the meal. The wine was excellent, and the company was equally delightful. We had the opportunity to spend some time with the chef, which took me back to the past, to when I would return home in the winter and enter the house after a day in the snow. My grandmother would sometimes make a simple dessert made of rice and milk, and I was fortunate enough to try that same dessert at this restaurant. Thank you for the wonderful experience and for the recommendation to visit the Frecciarossa winery (which was magnificent). We will definitely be back, perhaps even bringing a few friends.

A nice surprise, we called in for lunch (so didn't taste the full menu). The owner and chef is very friendly, explained the proposed meals to us in English and then suggested 2 great wines to accompany our meals. Followed by coffee and wonderful chocolates. This is not a snack bar, this is a great Italian restaurant, the prices reflect this, however we felt they were justified and reasonable for the quality.

Excellent restaurant. We were greeted by a young staff that demonstrated excellent professionalism and attention to detail. The chef personally came out to welcome us immediately, explaining a little about his method of cooking meats, which is sous vide, a method that is becoming very popular in restaurants these days. I must say that the flavor of the meat is very authentic and exquisite, preserving all the flavors and juices. I recommend the duck breast. For starters, try "La Via del Sale." The presentation of the dishes was, in my opinion, meticulous. Without going into too much detail, I can confirm that everything was very good; the quality ingredients justify the price. I recommend trying it, and I will definitely be back.
Found it in a hurry online, as we were passing through. At first, we felt like we were in the wrong place with our little girl. In short, it wasn't what I was looking for. But after the first impression, I have to say I had to change my mind and was amazed by everything. The owner seems grumpy, but instead he was very sweet and kind, even recommending something suitable for my two-year-old daughter, since the menu isn't very varied and perhaps a little unusual for children. All the dishes were delicious, with new flavors, sophisticated combinations, and appropriate portions. The only thing that bothers me is the initial welcome, and perhaps a paper menu would have been more welcome than the blackboard brought to the table. The prices were reasonable, except for the coffee 🤣. I recommend it and will return with friends to try other amazing dishes.

Opened in 2014, the restaurant was founded by Chef Massimiliano Farina, who offers cuisine that respects seasonal ingredients, sourced primarily from the local area and neighboring regions. Among the signature dishes that have made the restaurant famous are pork ribs cooked sous vide, slowly and at low temperatures for over 15 hours, and whole-wheat tagliolini with walnuts and a goat's blue cheese sauce. The atmosphere at SantoPalato is informal yet elegant, bright and pleasant. The service is courteous and helpful, and Chef Farina himself takes the time to thoroughly explain the dishes, conveying his passion and culinary knowledge. The day's menu was inspired by the autumnal notes of this season, with a strong focus on ingredients like pumpkin and mushrooms, but there were also more original offerings, such as Japanese-style oven-glazed eel or braised venison. We were tempted by the excellent appetizers, "Pork in Tuna Sauce," "Pumpkin with Porcini Mushrooms and Almonds," and "Rice with Pumpkin, Amaretti, and Mustard," which were truly delicious. We finished with an excellent dessert. The price is more than fair, commensurate with the quality of the service and dishes. A great experience, with dishes of such quality and originality that they leave no one indifferent. The combination of local products with a modern and original twist, along with the courtesy of the staff, make this restaurant a must-see for anyone who loves good food.

A warm and bright place, with a certain attention to detail in the decor, where a mix of styles is also played with in this sector. There's certainly attention to the quality of the ingredients. A little less to quantity, but that's a perennial issue in restaurants and difficult to resolve. It's about choices. We drank a "first price" Cabernet from Prago (15 euros), which turned out better than expected. The staff was courteous and discreet. This place is definitely more suited to couples with a moderate budget than to rowdy groups.
We received a very warm welcome from the restaurant manager, who presented the menu in detail. The menu was quite appealing, and the dining room was pleasant. The food was good, but the prices are far too high considering the quality of the ingredients. There are better value-for-money options in the area. We paid €65 for two pasta dishes with ragù and two small desserts with two glasses of wine, which makes no sense. Update following the owner's response: No, nothing is missing from the bill. We didn't order anything extra and we paid this exorbitant price, based on a handwritten, unitemized bill.
Booked at 1:00 PM. At 1:13 PM I call: "Sorry I'm late, but I'm almost there." Reply: "No, I've already booked the table, what do you want, it's 1:15 PM, have a nice day." Well, they were very rude, but maybe they were busy and I'm late... that's fine. I walk past the restaurant at 1:30 PM to go to the one next door, which is empty. Incredible! 🤣
