We went in last Sunday and they were short staffed and did such an amazing job handling the big crowd 👏👏👏 sandwiches was so good, I'll be back!

Went to Mr Pickles in Castro Valley yesterday for first time. Got the Tom Turkey on wheat roll. Delicious and the garlic sauce really made the sandwich. Will definitely go back for seconds.

This was my first time trying Mr. Pickles, and I ordered pastrami, on Dutch crunch bread, with mayo, mustard, avocado, pickles, and cucumbers, lettuce, pepper jack cheese, American cheese, with a bowl of macaroni salad. It was a great portion and was very tasty. I received a chocolate cookie that was given with no extra cost. I would recommend it, and I will be ordering here again.

Love this sandwich shop. Service is always good just like the sandwiches. Plus, you get a cookie with our meal as well. Convenient location in a shopping center, so you can run your other errands in this area as well. Restroom is always clean too.

Ordered two sandwiches from this place. My Husband really enjoyed his Philly cheesesteak. I got the Mr.Pickels and it was Good. The customer service is amazing. Try the cookies and you won’t be disappointed.

Today 7:35pm.. they close at 8pm and guess what.. the white kid with puffy hair.. the shop was closed.. he peek his face through the shade and then proceeded to open the lock door.. I drove all the way here from. Jackson st in Hayward only to have the doors locked and the shades down. At 735pm.. seriously im so beyond pissed, I use your sandwiches for apart of my diet!! Im shaking because this is the only meal of my day. To help with my health.. Check your cameras .. im piss

We ended up getting the “hang loose” and it was so good! One of the best sandwiches I've had in my 41 years of living (besides the ones I make at home). They even gave us courtesy chocolate chip cookies in our bag! My son was so happy! What a great way to spend new years day 2026.

I realized immediately and tried to call to cancel or change the order. I've called 8 times over 15 minutes now and the call won't go through. The phone number either asks for a remote access code or says the mailbox is full.

I choose this shop 9 out of 10 times because, honestly, one sandwich counts as both lunch and dinner for me. Mr. Pickle’s has a unique menu and ingredients list that I think sets it apart from other larger chains—think Dutch crunch rolls, peperoncinis, avocado at no extra charge in some recipes, and potato salads. My favorite part, though, is the surprise chocolate chip cookie (or sometimes multiple cookies) that I find at the bottom of my bag every time. It’s a small detail, but one that really influences my decision to come back. Many other sandwich shops charge for snacks, but I admire that Mr. Pickle’s throws one in on the house as a light bite. I also appreciate the kindness of the staff at this location and their dedication to preparing every order with the mindset of choosing quality over quantity.

Expensive! We purchased 2 sandwiches, 3 drinks, 1 bag of chips, received 2 chocolate chip cookies free... and the cost was $45 with tip!

Lovely sandwiches with a very friendly staff. I have been a few times here and always got the hot "KICKIN" chicken sandwich. The sandwich is tasty and spicy and never disappoints.

The only thing I would recommend is to not order through Door Dash. The app will alert you that your food is ready even if it isn't. This was a big issue for me since I was starving and went in to pick up my sandwiches only to find out they hadn't even started it because they were fulfilling all walk-in orders first. So basically I placed my order at 6:30 PM and my order was ready at 7pm. I arrived at 7:05 pm to learn that anyone who walked in between 6:30 and 7:04 pm orders were being completed and mine wasn't started. That is my only complaint. Also, in the spring and fall, if you go by on a weekend you may be lucky enough to high five Mr. Pickles himself who is waving at everyone on Castro Valley Blvd. My kids thought that was so awesome to high five him.

At this time, there's no indoor seating. They told me that they are not planning on changing to seating anytime soon, so even though their sandwiches are okay, I will probably pass on going there in the future. I get the concern about COVID, but I think they could manage if they wanted to like many other restaurants do, If I want the food truck experience, then I'll go to a food truck instead. I would just like to eat my sandwich at the place where I purchased it.

If you like mayo or sauces on your sandwich, this is the place for you. My wife loves it; I feel like all the sandwiches are a bit too messy for me. You'll have to decide for yourself, but the service is quite friendly. It's OK.

Mr. Pickle's of Castro Valley, need to pay more attention to the way they make their sandwiches. Ordered the Toms Turkey with pickles,pepperoncinii, mayo and garlic sauce, I got e pickles and 4 little pieces of pepperoncini, hardly any garlic sauce, little mayo also.

Ordered French Dip. Easiest sandwich to make. Specified no “horseradish Mayo”, just Au Ju. The sandwich was so full of the “horseradish Mayo”, I couldn’t eat it. Apparently they don’t read orders correctly. Never had a problem with Mr. Pickles before. Not sure I’ll go back.

Sandwiches are good. But do they ever take awhile. Makes you wonder how these folks do sandwiches at home. Up to half hour wait on phone orders, they'll take up to 15 minutes from order placed to payment when you go into the store.

The Mr Pickle sandwich was great. Problem: Dirtiest eatery I have ever seen. Though the place was empty, there was not one clean table and the floor was filthy. Lucky I had Lyssol wipes with me. The two employees were watching the game. Only reason we stayed? Grandson picked it for his birthday.

Sandwich was ok. Service was ok. Not greeted by staff which I thought was customary for all MP's. The most disturbing for me was how filthy the floor and windows were. Makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is? Probably my last visit to this establishment.

Sandwiches are great. But i think twice when i deside to go here. The workers are rude and slow, tables are always dirty and it takes forever for them to make a damn sandwich. 4 stars for the sandwiches and 1 for the employees and service.

They forgot what the works even means at this restaurant, didn't read the special request note, like dude, get it together. It. Is. A. Sandwich. I don't expect it to look gorgeous, but I expect to get everything that I paid for. Maybe instead of spending so much time on your extra teenage makeup, you'd spend extra time learning how to do the job you applied for. Like, I bet their boss wouldn't approve of the sandwiches they make when they're not there. Y'all need to be more on these kids. You have requirements. Meet them. End of discussion.

Usually, they are good but they committed a colossal blunder with my order then won't answer their phone. At all. That is very bad business. I order from them often but not anymore.

Very disappointing 😔 I ordered a Dellas sandwich 🥪 on crunch bread which should have consisted of turkey breast,ham and salami however I got turkey, ham and roast beef 😑 😫. My two sandwiches, three chips and two lipton teas came to $30 and some change. Not to mention that the fountain soda machine was out of order and the bottle sodas consisted of slim pickings only 2 kinds of sodas, 3 different kinds of teas and I believe some Gatorade. The staff looked very uncomfortable and was maneuvering as if they was discombobulated. I was really hungry and on my way to track practice and wanted something while on my way. Just spend $12 out of $30 on a sandwich that was made wrong. It would be nice for the staff to actually know what goes on and in the sandwiches that they have specified. I was completely disappointed and my first time going to any of their locations to buy anything 🙃

I literally just walked in 7/14/24 @6:58pm . Two young girls just stared at me and then each other and didn’t greet me but kept snickering . I thought they were closing early because it felt like they didn’t want to work since they just kept smiling at each other but looking at me . I said “seems like you guys want to go home early and don’t want to be at work “, bigger set girl says “yeah I don’t “ , then other girls finally says “no we are open “ .....”welcome in “ ....”.how can I help you “. It was Very unprofessional and I didn’t feel welcome anymore which was sad to me because I wanted to try their sandwiches for the first time but those girls gave me a very bad vibe . So I decided to not proceed with my order. So much for a first experience

Ordered onlineI picked up the sandwiches got to the house and the entire order was wrong! I had to go back down to the shop and have them redo the order. The tuna sandwich had less than a tablespoon of tuna, when they remade the tuna it had the same amount that it did the first time! To sum it up mr. Pickles needs to hire competent employees.

Order online 2 sandwiches and kids' sandwich. The estimated time it would be ready online said 15 mins. When I got there within 10 mins, I was told I was earlier and they would start my order soon. Waited AN HOUR before I actually received my order. When I arrived 4 people came and ordered and received theirs before I did. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

The place has Flys everywhere. The tables are messy. The sandwich was smeared with sauce. It's the worst place to get a sandwich. They really let this place go from when it 1st opened.. ordered a tri tip sandwich and it was freezing cold.

This is the second time that we have ordered french dips and not gotten any au sjuo sauce!!!!! We visit your restaurant frequently but am getting really tired of this mistake,!!!!!! You would think that the sauce would be put next to the sandwiches when made!!!😒😒😒

Granted it's 30 min before closing, but that is no excuse. I attempted to call their number and no one picks up. I called union City and they verified the phone number. Go elsewhere...this place hires workers who don't care about the food they are serving.

I responded with "well this isn't my problem" as he clearly was totally indifferent to dropping the ball on my order. He proceeded to tell the employees making the sandwiches to "take all the time you need, don't hurry this customer's order, he is rude"... Couldn't believe this guy. Fortunately a young lady who worked behind the cash register smoothed things over with greater finesse. Btw, that girl could run circles around you Jose. Contact corporate as I did to let them know which locations (like this one) have gone awry! I suggest that if you're hungry in CV, bring your business elsewhere (like Luccas Deli (across the street). WAY better food and exceptional customer service.

Horrible customer service!! Rude managers, only a few nice workers with decent customer service but the manager or manager(s) suck! When ordering more than one sandwich (ordered 5 during a slow period - only one other customer in store) the guy got an attitude that he had to make multiple sandwiches and was like “MOREE⁉️” and rolled his eyes after he made the first 2 and we said we had more to odder. On the 4th sand which I said I have just one more after that and he looked up at me and rolled his eyes and didn’t say anything - just bad customer service vibes all around - also wrote the incorrect names of the sandwiches on each of the sandwiches - the food is always good though.
