I found CoCo when looking for Vegan options before arriving in town. This restuarant did not disappoint! Everything was exceptional! Staff was friendly and professional, restuarant was clean as well as the restroom. The food was so good we returned for breakfast before leaving North Carolina! I definitely recommend!
Coco’s food has and always surprised me. I’ve tried so many different options on all the different menus and I always finish everything or am sure to take it home because it’s so good. The atmosphere is so pleasant with the windows and light. The workers have always been kind and polite. I love coming here to catch up with friends, do school work, and celebrate life events. They have something everyone would like with so many options on each menu. It is my new favorite restaurant and would eat here everyday if I could
Incredible food. I've been to vegan restaurants and this had a clean and cheery atmosphere and food that rivaled them all. Obviously a bit pricey but that's to be expected. This was amazing
Amazing food and atmosphere. Love, love, love. If I lived nearby, I'd eat here every day...and be broke. 😅
Fantastic staff, fantastic food, fantastic coffee, and fantastic atmosphere. You won't regret giving this spot a try.
I am doing a fast where I have given up meat so I asked my husband if we could go to a vegetarian/vegan restaurant for lunch. Coco was wonderful!!! We happened to stumble upon their first inaugural brunch day, where they do full service instead of ordering at the counter. The wait staff were extremely friendly pleasant and helpful. The food was outstanding - and this coming from two meat eaters! I had the overnight oats loaded with lots of fresh fruit. My husband, who has only eaten vegan food once or twice in his life and always prefers a good steak, ordered the scramble, pesto and grilled cheese sandwich and said it was fantastic. He's never had plant-based cheese or eggs before and he was a little leery but he loved it. We will definitely be back! Thanks, Coco! Nice job!
Great place for vegan food. Stopped by here before a wedding with my family, and had a great experience. My wife has a soy allergy and the waitress knew every soy allergen on the menu and was able to immediately customize an order for her. They have a wide variety of food types. The food is a bit pricey but I'm from Charlotte so I guess I'm used to it 🤷 I've had a lot of vegan food, but I had never heard of a vegan beer cheese to dip your fries in. I recommend getting that as your side if you come here. Definitely recommend 👍
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed one of our best, plant-based meals and Coco is being held completely responsible! In a long time we held a menu with SO many choices to pick from!! Every item on their menu is plant-based, and 90% of the items can be customized to be gluten-free. Recommend calling ahead just to make sure the GF options are available on that day. Their service was splendid. The patience and care with which we were served is a testament to their dedication. The ambience of the cafe was serene and enhanced our overall experience. All-in-all, highly recommend Coco for all looking for their favorites but in the plant-based gluten-free world or anyone interested in an amazing meal served with friendly smiles!
I can not say enough about CoCo Bistro! I work not far from this sweet gem, and every chance I get I’m there picking up or placing an order . Love their fries, their burgers, their drinks and the gluten free options are so tasty! The hummus with gluten free pita is my new go to:) amazing! I can’t speak enough about the customer service! There has not been a time that I’ve not been met with smiling faces and gifted hands, making sure everything was just right for me. Some here mentioned the parking challenges and imho with food and service being this great, I never mind parking in the parking deck if need be and taking a quick walk to their front doors. Thank you for creating such a warm environment for those of us who prefer plant based fare options where we can rest, relax and indulge!☺️
Loved our breakfast at this beautiful and relaxing cafe. Every single thing was delicious, from the coffee and green smoothie to the food. We do not usually eat a vegan diet but we found their vegan breakfast sandwiches just as good if not better than what we would usually order! This reminds me of a vegan version of PRESS from Durham, but less packed on the weekend, so a perfect place to stop by on a weekend when I don’t want to worry about waiting in line, or to stay and read/study.
My happy place in Chapel Hill! Lots of delicious options. The atmosphere is great and the baristas are so kind. They play great music and you can always find a nice seat or table regardless of the time of day. May seem pricey but I would say it is so so worth it for portion and quality.
This was my first time there for a business meeting. The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere the place has. It has a light and airy feel. My second pleasant surprise was the service. The gentleman that waited on my was very upbeat and friendly. He made my iced coffee to perfection! To top it off, my meeting went very well! Thanks to Coco Bistro for a wonderful all-around experience!!
Delicious Plant based restaurant with plenty of Gluten-free options! Enjoyed the tasty Quinoa and avocado Buddha bowl, as well as the delicious truffle Parmesan fries. I am not a vegetarian, but am GF. Loved the food and will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Service was a little slow, as the cashier was in the back when I was ready to order, but she was super friendly when she came back up.
I enjoyed Coco. The atmosphere in there is perfect for working, though I wish they could turn the music a little down. I tried their bagel sandwich and Samoa flavored iced coffee. I thought both were just okay, nothing to write home about. I also found it to be expensive with a total of ~$20. I did really like that they have you order on your phone and they bring your food to you, no interaction from anyone needed. Though the food was just okay, I feel like it's more fair to judge this place on vibes since I got the impression that's what they care more about, and for that I definitely say 5*. Would come again to drink some okay coffee and work all day there.
Coco’s is a hidden gem! Omnivores and vegans alike will enjoy the fair. I had dinner with a mixed patty and EVERYONE enjoyed the caprese mini toasts with cheese that tasted just like real mozzarella. The burgers were phenomenal, and the Mediterranean bowl was divine with feta that tastes like the dairy version as well. We didn’t miss the dairy or meat at all. And don’t forget the cocktails!! Try the lavender lemonade for a refreshing treat. Lastly, we were celebrating a birthday, and they gave us our pick of the delicious desserts for free for our birthday guest. Peach pie a La mode tasted so authentic! As an ice cream connoisseur, I can tell you I didn’t notice or miss the dairy version. YUM!
Hands down the best plant-based burger and breakfast sandwich I have ever had. We were just passing through town yesterday, but I had to come back for breakfast this morning because their food is extraordinarily delicious. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great too. Keep it up!!!!
I’ve been here twice this week for breakfast and have been really pleased! Ordered the blueberry and cranberry scone lattes and they were delish. Highly recommend the “Smoky Chipotle Bacon & Egg Sandwich”. They have a nice “eggy” sauce on some of their breakfast sandwiches that I’ve never had before in almost a decade of being vegan. It was a nice savory touch!
So happy to have found this spot! Friendly staff and a wide variety of options. Love that there were so many breakfast/brunch options to choose from.
absolutely incredible plant based food and coffee! so happy to have this option around chapel hill. the food was BOMB 🌱 they have a ton of food and milk options. (they don’t have cow’s milk; i see people complaining about this, but it’s really not necessary for a good cup of coffee). definitely going to be repeat customers.
Impressive. First-time visit and I ordered an oat milk cafe mocha to go. "Parker" (I believe that is his name) was incredibly friendly and courteous. I wasn't aware you couldn't order pick-up over the phone, but it wasn't busy and he whipped it up quickly upon arrival. It was delish. The only drawback... they serve Pacific Oat Milk (not the worst) and it would be awesome if they tried healthier brands like Elmhurst. However, glad they don't serve Oatly – it's literal trash (e.g., seed oils, recent recall, etc.). I stay away from cafes that serve it. Overall, can't wait to come back and try the menu.
This place is awesome!!! All vegan and partners with an incredible non-profit, beautiful together. Food was delicious and the vibe was great. They serve cocktails and beer!! FYI, Parking is a little tricky
Genuinely the best vegan spot in the triangle. After going vegan I figured I’d just never have over easy eggs again but they use a product called Yo Egg that really hits the mark. They’ve got doughnuts, cookies, scones, great coffee, smoothies, pancakes, waffles, umaro bacon etc… 10/10 no notes.
So thrilled to have discovered this gem on my recent trip to Chapel Hill. I found my happy place. 🤩 As a gluten-free vegan, a way of life that has now offered me great relief from arthritic pain and inflammation, I finally walked into a beautiful, inviting space where my food was mainstream! I felt so validated and excited. The menu was appetizing no matter what your food preferences were. Bravo Coco ❤❤👏🏽👏🏽 Thank you!
Everything is delicious! I am not vegan but I always eat here when I am in chapel hill. The coffee is fantastic. I get a breakfast sandwich and a smoothie every time and I am always impressed. They have lots of gluten free options.
A vegetarian option is a slight stretch for me normally, I’m not necessarily their target demographic, but I had a salad with plant based chicken and it was great. And a great spot to meet colleagues for lunch.
Love it! Totally coming back with my laptop to settle in here - love the vibe. Natural light, modern clean aesthetic, plants... I got a to-go iced latte & blueberry scone (after the helpful description advice from the young woman at the counter). The latte was smooth, not bitter or overpowering. Just a lovely experience and such a nice staff.
This is the most amazing place run by amazing people! The food and coffee are both TO DIE for. If you eat plant based this place is a MUST. Even if you do not eat plant based you still should go. I have been to plant based alternative restaurants in LA, London, and New York and there is NOTHING like Coco. I could write an entire thesis on how amazing their plant based bacon is. Their owners are amazing people too so all the more reason to support this amazing business!!
Coco is amazing! As someone with allergies this place is one of the very few lifesavers. There's no way the menu will disappoint you. This is some of the best tasting 'good' food out there
This BEAUTIFUL cafe just opened in The Gwendolyn office building, off 15-501. The coffee and drink offerings are extensive, from brown sugar cinnamon lattes to Mexican spiced hot chocolate, housemade shakes to cortados (equal parts espresso and warm milk). And soon, a wine and spirits bar will be added for evening enjoyment. Its vegan-friendly menu includes pastries (muffins, cookies, breads) and assorted milks (almond, macadamia, coconut, soy, cashew), with plans to include full menu items in the coming weeks. I love the floor-to-ceiling windows that let in ample natural light, and the hanging plants that add a POP of green and make the eatery smell like a caffeinated forest, :-). I think an entire wall folds back, too, allowing a screened in breeze to filter through. This will be so awesome come Spring. There is ample seating -- inside and outside -- to safely gather with others while social distancing. The outdoor tables each have their own umbrellas and overlook the historic Glen Lennox neighborhood. Also, great customer service! The team explained unique menu items, like hot mushroom lattes, and shared a few of their favorites, as well.
High quality coffee with relatively quick service, this shop is pretty chic and airy. They’ve got solid WiFi and plenty of seating with excellent light — there’s also a conference room available. Bathrooms are clean, and parking is plentiful. All in all a good place for your hot beverages and study needs.
We’ve enjoyed dinner here twice and just came back from Saturday brunch. All three experiences were really delicious and fulfilling! We love the many menu choices. The staff and is very warm and welcoming, a great match for the relaxing ambience. We love that the tables are more spread out than a lot of restaurants and the noise level is quieter so that conversation is easy. The restaurant is located away from any busy streets and that adds to its chill vibe especially when enjoying their outdoor seating. Vegans and omnivores alike will be extremely satisfied with the many food and beverage options here. Go for the food, savor the experience! ☮️
Okay, some others have mentioned the prices. I can't disagree with them because I ordered a small mocha (with macadamia milk-I forgot they don't do dairy), and it was a little over $6 w/tax. Possibly due to the macadamia selection. However, it was also slamming. With that out of the way, this wasn't my first time in. The food menu items sound tasty and looked & smelled delicious when I saw them delivered to other tables. Speaking of tables, there are plenty inside and out and also in the hallway entrance. Very bright white ambiance in general, but not clinical. The staff were friendly, and I believe the barista noticed my hesitation with the 'milk' options and made suggestions based on beverage temperature (if I wanted hot or cold). Parking in front can be a challenge and is time-boxed to 30 minutes max, but there is a garage with marked spots, which I believe are gratis. I think I saw a charging spot as well. Anyway, this is a place I'd go to as more of a treat than every day.
Highly recommend this place for breakfast carryout. I've been here a few times and it has always been absolutely delicious. I grew up vegan in the 1980s so I know a thing or two about plant-based eating. I had the Smoky Chipotle Bacon & Egg sandwich and it could not have been better with real meat or otherwise. I also got a side of fresh fruit which was generous and actually fresh. I saw a review that was less than stellar and sympathize with the poster. Hopefully that was just an off day. I will be back.
I’ve been a huge fan of Coco for about three years now, and it just makes me so HAPPY knowing there is a place in Chapel Hill doing everything they are doing!! When I first started coming here, I thought it was simply a beautiful contemporary spot with amazing food and a few vegan options. And it is all of those things, but I had no idea the entire menu was completely plant based until years later. As someone who is vegan, that was the best surprise ever! The food is seriously delicious, it is good for you, and it takes less from the planet. There is something really special about eating here and knowing you are supporting a bigger mission without even trying :) A lot of that comes from the owners, Steve and Tamara Lackey. They care so deeply about the community, the environment, and the people who walk through their doors. You can feel their values in everything, from the way they source their food to the way they treat people with genuine kindness. Coco is one of the only restaurants I know that manages to be family owned, sustainable, health forward, beautiful inside, and still have the kindest and most welcoming staff. It is truly such a rare combination! And you do not even have to be vegan to love it 😅 Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner. I always tell people Coco is like four restaurants in one because each menu has its own vibe and flavors. With all that said, thank you Coco for everything you bring to this community. I recommend this place to everyone!!
As someone who avoids milk and egg due to allergy, Coco’s is an awesome venue for breakfast or lunch. Their food is delicious and their non-dairy options are solid. I often bring family or colleagues there who don’t share my allergies and they agree the food is very tasty. Their coffee and matchas are excellent also.
As a former vegan food blogger who has tried so many vegan restaurants, this place is ONE OF THE BEST brunch places I’ve ever been to!! Non-vegans couldn’t tell that their egg was plant-based! The food was divine and I highly recommend to anyone! Can’t wait to come back and try the other menu items.
Review of Coco Bistro & Bar – Chapel Hill, NC 🌟 What an absolute pleasure it was to stumble upon this hidden gem tucked away in Chapel Hill! My niece and I were in town for a wedding and naturally on the hunt for the best vegan dining experiences. Let me just say—finding Coco was a blessing in itself. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted by Julia (whom we instantly nicknamed “Jewels”). Her welcoming smile, deep knowledge of the menu, and thoughtful suggestions made us feel right at home. She wasn’t just a server—she was a guide, ensuring every choice we made would be unforgettable. Her kindness and calm demeanor won us over so much that we came back the very next day. Yes, twice in one weekend—it’s that good! Now, the food… oh my goodness, the food! Calling it “delicious” doesn’t do it justice—it’s pure culinary artistry. Every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Day one, we went big, ordering nearly $90 worth of food: the fig toast (absolutely divine), the Calula bacon and egg sandwich, hot tea, and the All-American Breakfast. Day two was no different—I couldn’t resist repeating the sandwich, while my niece treated herself to the Hazelnut Martini (a Sunday delight!) alongside the Complete Breakfast Sandwich. Every bite and sip was sheer perfection. We even purchase their loaf of homemade GLUTEN FREE BREAD! DELIGHTFUL! Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Coco is warm, modern, and inviting. The space is spotless, the staff is attentive and genuinely friendly, and the vibe makes you want to linger a little longer. All in all, Coco has secured its place as one of my top choices for vegan cuisine—right alongside my all-time favorite back home. Only wish that they had more GLUTEN FREE ITEMS such as pancakes, pastry items and waffles. Julia, if you’re reading this—thank you again for your supreme service and heart. Kim and Chrissy from Atlanta will definitely be back, and next time, we’ll be bringing friends! PS: As a native of Atlanta, there are lots of folks who are interested in good clean plant based eating. We are requesting that a COCO come to our city! It will FLOURISH in either downtown Atlanta, Buckhead or Downtown Decatur. See you there soon??? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 – A Chapel Hill must-visit for anyone who loves food made with care, creativity, and love.
Everything was excellent, the food , service, drinks ! I am a vegetation but am usually not fond of vegan places in the US because they just literally substitute fake processed meat for real meat and call it a day. And that takes so bad. But here at coco it looks like they actually put in a lot of through into the flavours and to make the taste amazing and be really healthy too. 10 on 10 recommend !! Service staff was so so sweet too ! Will definitely go back again and will also tell all my vegetarian friends that this is not one of those poor tasting vegan places and they definitely should try Coco.
Coco is such a gem in our community! The food is just fabulous (and of course, all plant-based), the coffee is strong and flavorful, the desserts are yummy, and the staff and owners are kind and friendly. The atmosphere is super cool, too. This place truly brings a smile to my face. And now they're serving dinner three nights a week!
I had brunch at Coco Bistro this past weekend and had the best experience! The atmosphere and vibe was so cute and cozy, and the food was even better. I have never had such a delicious plant-based meal in my life, the breakfast sandwich I ate was to die for! I would highly recommend this amazing plant-based restaurant to anyone in the area- it is the best and I will definitely be coming back!
This cafe is a very cozy spot with an inviting atmosphere. The moment I stepped inside, there was a charming ambience and a delightful corner bookshelf. The menu was like a dream for vegetarians and every dish that I tried was delicious. And let's not forget about their impressive beverage selection ;) The overall vibe is warm and welcoming, perfect for a leisurely meal or an afternoon lost in a book!
Coco Espresso is one of the best restaurants in the Triangle area! They make great food, have a cozy chic atmosphere, and their partnership with a local sanctuary is really wonderful. Coco was one of the first vegan places I tried when I moved to Durham 2 years ago, and they quickly became a favorite. Great food and a great mission..what could be better?
We stopped in for Saturday brunch with friends, I understand their computer system was having issues and our server was new, but the food was amazing so I’m excited to go back. I’ve never seen vegan sunny side up eggs, and my partner loved them. I had the French toast and while it was a dream, for those with gluten sensitivity I’ll note that it is made in a shared fryer. The yogurt it came with was delicious as well. Our friend enjoyed the chipotle breakfast sandwich while the mini pancakes with a side of fruit was perfect for her toddler. I can highly recommend the cinnamon roll latte as well. Thanks to your team for their great work and congratulations to the visionaries that made it happen! Looking forward to next time!
There's no eggs-cuse to miss brunch! And vegan brunch is the best brunch! The American breakfast with faux sunny side up eggs was amazing. Dipping toast was something I’d forgotten about! Don’t get me started on the feta pistachio fig toast! Ok so it’s fantastic and I’m officially in love with it. My partner got the Benedict and was obsessed with it. I wish we got sweets but we were stuffed. Wonderful coffee as well! Destination dining for sure!
Though it’s a bit of a drive from us, Coco is well worth the trip. My husband and I love to come here for the sandwiches, coffee drinks, and don’t get me started about the soft pretzels! The ambience is cute and cozy, and I love that they have so much outdoor seating. There is a parking garage around the corner since the spaces out front are limited (but they do have electric vehicle charging stations which is a plus). Coco partners with a nonprofit animal sanctuary called Beautiful Together, and there are some very heartwarming stories about animals on the wall by the front entrance. Note: when you are ready to order, you don’t have to go to the front counter - there is a QR code on each table that you can scan to put your order in!
They have the best vegan coffee I’ve ever had. The food is good but overpriced which is why I can’t give it 5 stars. It’s comparable to other options in the area but $3-5 more expensive.
I met up with a friend for drinks at Coco. It was the first time I went there since they moved. The restaurant was a bit hard to find. But once I got there, there was plenty of parking next door. The atmosphere was very European. I loved the screened in outdoor seating they had. The service was wonderful. We got a couple of appetizers and their whipped feta with figs on bread was AMAZING. It's a great place for a date either with a friend or a loved one!
The system with self ordering is cool while it works. We arrived at 3:00 pm and - no idea that a kitchen will be closed at 3:30 pm - you need to know that or figure out yourself. - after we selected an order, the web site didn’t take the order, so we had to go to the counter and re-order waiting in a queue… and we thought that’s because the kitchen is closing - but it was just website problem. There were people who came even later and they got into the same situation but with even less time to realize that making unnecessary stress. It’ll be great to make the kitchen work equal to what the working hours are. And online orders process need to be fixed: at least it should inform somewhat like: “you have 10 minutes to make the order” and “there’s a problem - go and order at the counter” The kitchen is great. Almond milk is a bit too flavored and kinda hides the taste of the coffee.
Stopped by with my parents for a bite after a hike on the Eno. We were excited to try a new-to-us vegan spot, and we weren’t disappointed. Good coffee and tasty food all around. They both got the chicken sandwich with fries, which were the star of the meal. They couldn’t stop raving about the fries! I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Not the best bagel—very thin and reminiscent of a premade grocery store bagel rather than the made-in-shop kind I’m used to in NYC, where I’m visiting from—but the tomato slice and arugula I added to it were nice and fresh, as was the fruit salad I had as a side. I loved seeing the partnership Coco Bistro has with a local animal rescue group, and the atmosphere is excellent. Please consider adding a second location closer to Raleigh!
If I go again I'll go on a weekday. They were packed on a Saturday, understaffed. They had a reduced "brunch" menu, not as many choices as the main menu you see on the website. Once we finally got seated the service was good and the food was fine.
I got the "chicken" Sandwich. I think real chicken is better, but I was surprised by how close it got and the bun was very good. This place is kind of expensive though.
Coco is a comfy, spacious place to go on a cold day! We got hot cocoas but were surprised to learn that they don’t sell any dairy, so there’s no milk! We had to get soy milk. We got 12 ounce Cocoas and our total was about $10. I recommend offering milk to people who want it. I like the ambience, but it’s unfortunate that they only offer vegan products.
I am a frequent diner at Coco. I love the space, the staff, and the food. The outdoor dining is great and the ability to open up the interior seating to the outside is unique and exciting. The menu is robust and the pastry chef is one of the best vegan pastry chefs my family has ever experienced. There is room for improvement on one key element - good communications by management. I have come to Coco now 3 times and was unable to get food. Twice on a Friday night when their site and their Google listing said they were open and they were not, and once on a holiday when they said they were only taking reservations but once again neither their site nor their Google listing reflected this. This is a destination restaurant and most diners need to drive to Coco and due to the unique menu most diners are also counting on getting access to vegan cuisine. My feedback is that management ensure that information is clearly updated on your various online listings and that you clearly communicate with your customers whether you are open or not, and whether you are having a limited holiday service that would prevent take out orders and walk ins. Other than that it is truly a special place.
I’ve been here a lot and it’s great - the avocado toast is my favorite and they have some good lattes. The interior is nice. The one issue is the music is always very loud and makes it hard to work or study. If they would turn the music down a little / do a little more of calm music it would be great.
The decor is very modern and clean, and the servers are very polite. However, the menus are often inaccurate, the food can feel very mediocre and the servers aren't completely informed about ingredients, or the sanctuary that own the restaurant. The menus containing mistakes is the biggest problem. It can be misleading or confusing when the title says one thing and you receive another, or when the description doesn't match the title. Overall though, it is an interesting spot. As a vegan, it's nice to have a whole menu to myself. I'm keeping hope, as I haven't experienced any of the dinner items or what this restaurant is like at night. Maybe it's different from the brunch experience.
I wanted to try a new coffee spot and this one got high recommendations so I took the drive out the way to try this place. I was excited to see all the Vegan options to eat. Before I could even get in the door the parking sucks. It seems like they built this coffee spot with the intent of any folks who could walk there can enjoy. Then when you get inside the actual order counter is tight! There is a lot of seating, even some outdoor seating. It’s very pretty inside with the white walls and plant life. I did enjoy that aspect. So I actually had to edit my review because the first time I visited I tired the Mushroom coffee, the Mexican Spice Coffee, Garlic & Rosemary Fries & the Hummus. The coffee was good but nothing extraordinary. The Spice Latte wasn’t spicy enough for me. I felt like they went heavy in cinnamon and forgot about the Cayenne pepper & mocha. They were out of Oak milk when I was there and so I had to do Almond which also made me feel… ugh. I also thought I’d get a real hummus like made there but it was really creamy and not chunky or rich like a homemade hummus. It taste like any grocery store hummus. By the time I got to my spot the bread was cold that went with it so yeah. The fries were yummy 🤤 yeah I’d definitely order those again. So the second time I tired Coco it was with my husband and my experience was so much better. I actually did get to sit outside and enjoy my coffee and meal outside. So I tired the Mushroom Toast with Rosemary Fries & a Spicy coffee (can’t remember the name) my hubby had the burger and fries and he didn’t even talk so he enjoyed it. Everything was cooked to perfection and even though my mouth was burning from the coffee I enjoyed my second chance experience for sure 😊
This place is awesome. It’s vegan everything! I love the fact that it’s super cozy, there is lots of space, and there are plenty of books to read. there are so many special treats for vegans. If you are looking for a healthy food spot to gather with friends and family or your small group, this is the place. It’s conveniently located and there is plenty of parking right outside of the doors. The staff is super nice. They will be able to answer any of your questions regarding their products. I can’t wait to come back here!
Terrible Customer service. Food is good but I waited over 40 mins for a to go order while waiting with my family. When I asked what was taking so long, she just said, “Sorry, it’s really busy.” I watched others come order around the same time and get their order. Online it said they were out of pancakes, then when I asked them inside one person said no and another nice server look and said they did. When I asked to change waffle to pancake they said it was too late my order was finishing up which didn’t come out for another 6 mins. This is my second experience of bad customer service. It’s unfortunate.
Coco is a great place, and I love the food. However, the property recently instated a parking registration system that isn’t working well. I wasn’t able to finish registering despite multiple attempts, and wasn’t able to figure out whether or not I’d be towed as a result. I wound up leaving, since I didn’t want to take that risk. For anyone going to Coco in the near future, I’d recommend budgeting time to register your car, at least until they work out the website bugs.
Beautiful space, delicious food, but minuscule portions and very pricey. The space is truly beautiful and we love the atmosphere. The good: The food itself was delicious and even our non-plant-based friends loved the flavors. And while the staff was slow to give us our orders, they were friendly. The bad: everyone in our party of six agreed that we could have easily eaten twice to three times the amount of food we were given. The bowls that we got were not even half full. Some of us ordered a second lunch and those of us who didn’t, left hungry to the point where we made another lunch at home. We’re not particularly big eaters but truly the portions were that small. In all fairness, maybe that day they didn’t have enough ingredients and so they spread them amongst us? In addition, everything was pricey. But I think it would not have bothered us too much if the portions had been normal portions. I think I would come back for a drink and snack, but not for lunch. Maybe breakfast is better, or maybe dinner offers better portions that relate a bit more to the price.
I’m not a vegetarian but I do like a lot of vegetarian dishes. The food was pretty good but I would rather have some uniquely vegetarian dishes than vegetarian substitutes for a regular American diet. That said, it was still pretty decent food. It is expensive and it’s hard for me to tip at a place where I order at a counter and then the food is dropped off to me and that’s about it. On the other hand, the staff are friendly and my order came out pretty fast. The atmosphere is nice; there is good light and it looks very clean. The plants aren’t real but still help to warm the atmosphere. There is nice outdoor seating. Parking is a bit of a problem. I think a lot of vegetarians would love this place but for the rest of us, don’t expect any real milk or egg options. Mostly, it was a positive experience and how you feel about eating here is probably a very personal preference.
Atmosphere is great, staff is friendly, lots of food options! Lots of students and the seating is kinda crammed together. I ordered a matcha latte which was a really bad “matcha mix” kinda thing. If you know, you know. Wouldn’t recommend. Also ordered a “wild mushroom and arugula toast” which was yummy, but pathetic for $12-$13 price point. $3 side of fries was good though Overall a nice place to come and do work but I wouldn’t go there for the drinks / food
The Belgian waffle was delicious and came with real maple syrup. Bright and nice place to eat. Some concerns about gluten free offerings and allergies.
I’ve wanted to support and love this place over the years but they consistently up their prices and the quality of the food is really not awesome. It makes me sad because they support animal rights and donate proceeds to a wonderful local animal shelter, but this morning I paid seven dollars for a scone that one bite in is like dry stale flavorless bread. I was a little surprised to see that a scone is seven dollars here considering that even at the highest quality café anywhere in town is maybe four or five dollars. I also have qualms with coffee shops where I can’t even taste the coffee in a latte. Services is OK, everyone there is really friendly, but when it’s busy, there’s not enough people and when it’s dead, there are too many people and not clear systems of responsibility. Again, I’m cheering for this place, because I support their vision and really hope that the quality of their product increases.
The food and coffee were good, albeit extremely expensive. The FOH staff genuinely looked like they wanted us dead as soon as we walked in and wouldn't greet us, just stared at us silently until we ordered. The back of house/kitchen employee (maybe the owner or cook?) who brought us our food was actually nice and said hello. Couldn't get any staff to acknowledge me so that I could ask if we are supposed to bus our own tables, so we just left.
I hate giving a vegan spot anything but rave reviews but need to give this feedback. Ordered a BLT and was severely disappointed by the quality, the appearance and overall seemingly lack of care. As you can see in my photo there’s the image you see when you order and what I actually received. This meal also took 25 mins to receive. Unfortunately I am not impressed.
I can't remember when I was last so disappointed in a meal! The chicken sandwich was actually chicken spread of some sort, it was flavorless and didn't cover 1/4 of The Panini . The cheese was a dry sliver that no one could identify. maybe it was plant-based I don't know. It was truly spit – able!
Located in a fancy new building the space is nice and bright. Pros: the fries Cons: price, quality of entree, not being clear about ingredients I went here with my friend who has severe celiac disease and the item she ordered listed ingredients on the printed menu and was gluten free. When she got her salad it had pita on it and the server made it seem like it was our fault when they had not updated their menu. You would think she would then offer to give her the GF pita instead but asked if we wanted to pay an extra dollar.... My salad was disappointing (especially for $15+). The cookie was BOMB. But also $5-6.... And the fries were amazing. Free parking in the lot next door. Won't likely go back but maybe it'll improve! Will update if I do!
This is plant based food. Yogurt bowl was good..scones dry. Beware..parking is very scarce. We went off busy hours and was still difficult. Not a place we would revisit.
Food was mediocre , if you want to pay $16 for a smoky chipotle CHEESEBURGER WITHOUT a side. Oh, but the menu says "chips included", but “you only get them at dinner”, says the staff. So I paid $16 + tax for a plant based burger that I could have gotten from any other restaurant around here for $10. l even have a picture attached with my review that shows the menu where it doesn't say anything about "only during dinner". Oh, and don't go during lunch ... I waited 35 min for a to go sandwich (inside the restaurant)…. Parking is a PITA, as well, so be aware ! Such a disappointment.👎
Would never go back! I was there yesterday and ordered a "chicken" poppers and got the worst food poisoning. Was up all night puking my brains out. I would not recommend
Highly disappointed at how difficult it is to customize a burger on the online app. And the restaurant policy of not taking orders at all over the phone, or being willing to offer sufficient support with online ordering. Unfortunately, this was my first experience with Coco. And I won’t be patronizing this restaurant or recommending it to others. So much for vegan fine dining!
You think that ordering a bagel with cream cheese would be a simple affair. It would be if you didn't have to do it yourself. They give you a bagel and point you at the toaster on the other side of the room. What? Why did I come in here if I'm making it myself? Isn't this what I'm paying for? They gave me the cream cheese in a freaking cup! So I guess I'm supposed to reach in and grab it out of there? Good luck trying to play the game of "fish the block of mushy cheese out of a cup with a knife". I can tell you that it's not fun and nobody really wins. What is wrong with this town where this sort of nonsense is acceptable? It's like everyone went to college here and then just stayed and opened businesses that a 19 year old would find acceptable. This town and the businesses in it need to grow up.
I really, really wouldn’t get takeout food from there again. This has to be most over-priced place for that in the area - you’ll pay $15 for a cold, pre-wrapped sandwich that looks like a sad airport buy (completed with a fridge-cold baguette) and $10 for an entirely ordinary smoothie. I wish they would at least try if they’re going to charge that much.
The food is heavenly. My party had the pesto eggs Benedict, the cinnamon bun waffles, the chipotle egg and bacon sandwich, and the Samoa oat milk latte. Wow! Scrumptious! Best vegan food I have ever had. However, the wait time was obscene, and the servers were incompetent, though friendly. With a well-behaved toddler, our group waited for about 2 hours for our food. Even our drinks took forever and the server confused our order and didn’t deliver them for a few minutes after they had been made. She also had a good amount of time to deliver our silverware (plastic and not in keeping with the environmentally-conscious tone of the establishment) but waited until several minutes after our food was delivered. She handled the parts of the forks and knives that enter the mouth. We had to ask for napkins separately. The dining area is extremely loud when full. Coco does not feel child-friendly. Finally, it was sweltering inside. Despite the wonderful food, we would not return.
This place was amazing the first year or two and the quality of food and quantity has gone down hill so badly. The consistency is always a hit or miss. I highly recommend trying another vegan place. This place just does not do justice anymore sadly.
