Emmy Squared Pizza — 4.5 Stars of “Why Is This Place Empty When the Pizza Is This Good?” 🍕🔥😅 Emmy Squared is the Detroit‑style pizza champion nobody talks about… probably because there’s never anyone inside to talk about it. 😭🍕 You walk in expecting a crowd, and instead it’s just you, the staff, and a pizza that’s about to change your whole mood. Empty dining room, full heart. ❤️😂 The pizza? Ridiculous. Crispy edges that crunch like they’ve been training for the Olympics. 🥇 Cheese that melts like it’s trying to flirt with you. 😏🧀 Sauce that hits you with that “oh okay, I see what we’re doing today” energy. 🍅💥 We’ve been here multiple times — because it never disappoints. Not once. Not even a little. Every visit is like, “Yep… still fire.” 🔥🔥🔥 And yet… the place stays empty. Like Emmy Squared is the best-kept secret in the city and everyone else is out here eating sadness‑flavored pizza somewhere else. 😐🍕 Service is chill, food comes out fast (because, again… it’s just us in here), and the whole vibe is “underrated gem that deserves more love but also kinda nice having it all to ourselves.” 😎✨ Final Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (or at least a very strong 4.5) Amazing pizza, zero crowds, maximum satisfaction. Emmy Squared is the introvert of pizza restaurants — quiet, unbothered, and secretly elite. 🍕👑 BTW - could wait to take picks of my pizza it was gone before I pulled the camera out! Get the pineapple glazed chicken. Very flavorful and the chicken was still crispy. Also really enjoyed the pizza and mozzarella sticks. The chopped cheese was good but not my favorite. Will definitely come back for the pizza.

In this area with so many choices- this is a winner!!! I'm from Detroit and they have great Detroit (thick/crust) pizza at a reasonable price served by wonderful people in a really great space. It's worth looking for and it's also way bigger inside so nice place to hang and watch people. Lots of parking in back or around either corner- check it out!

A friend and I came here on a Tuesday night to grab a pizza and some beers. I had no expectations going in, and I was very impressed by the end of the night! We sat at the bar, and the bartender, JoDee, was fantastic. She recommended one of the beers on tap, and it is now one of my favorite (unfortunately seasonal) beers. For food, we ordered the MVP pizza and caesar salad with chicken. The pizza was unique and crispy. The salad was refreshing and had the perfect level of dressing. This is one of those places that could be a really nice date night or a nice spot to catch up friends. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Mother's Day weekend with the family was spent with dinner at Emmy Squared Pizza 🍕. This was our first time eating there and I must say the food didn't disappoint. Customer service was great as our server was very attentive, and food came out quickly. Our daughter wasn't fond of the salad, and they were accomidating and understanding of our sending it back. I'm looking forward to visiting this establishment in the future.

Was surprised never thought it be so big space. Amazing place …for a pizza and salad beside drinks. Must must try for anyone who loves a good salad n pizza. The host were friendly and polite, so was the chef who came out to meet us. In all amazing 5/5 experience.

Finally made it to Emmy Squared and I’m so happy I did. First, they just started opening for lunch last week and I was seated immediately, The pizza was incredible (ordered the Colony) and as a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I was impressed. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the balance of flavors was excellent. The service was spot on, I was able to pay the check quickly, and couldn’t find any issues here. Highly recommend!

Love Emmy Squared in Charlotte. I just moved from New York City and have been to a few of their locations there. We had the Zia style waffle fries which have pimento cheese, bacon and ranch dressing and we had the Angel pie with Ricotta and mushrooms. The fries were really good, they were very crispy and the sauce was delicious and the pizza was great. I thought the crust was almost perfect and the toppings went really well together. Will definitely go back.

I'm honestly one of those people who never thinks to leave reviews, but after today's experience I am more than happy to support this local business. First off - this is absolutely a family-friendly establishment. We walked in and our toddler was immediately offered a dinosaur toy and crayons to draw with. Even so, from my observations it doesn't matter if you have kids or not - you are welcome and treated with the utmost kindness. We were served by Theresa - she was knowledgeable, had great recommendations, and was very responsive. As for the food? Excellent. We ordered two pizzas which were served promptly. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding. The pizza was not greasy and I was pleasantly surprised by the gluten free crust which, to my taste buds, tasted as good and even better than something containing gluten. Having a brother with Celiac, this last part is an absolute plus for me and a reason to keep coming back.

Emmy Squared Pizza was amazing. We visited this place after a couple drinks in Plaza Midwood and got there around 830pm on a Saturday night, we were greeted with a warm welcome and our server was super nice. The pizza and the salad were so crunchy and delicious and would definitely order the same combination again! They also have a full bar and a good drinking selection. Can’t wait for warmer days and hang out on their “hidden” back patio.

If you eat gluten free, you’re probably used to tasteless, frozen crusts that most pizza places use. Not Emmy Squared! It was fresh and phenomenal. 😍 Crunchy and delicious, I’ll be a repeat customer. Very cute place inside too, nice staff.

The gluten free pizza is identical to regular pizza! The service was quick, friendly, and professional. Prices are fair and the menus has a lot of options. Our pizzas were absolutely delicious and the staff took really good care of us. I will definitely be returning!!

First let’s talk about the ambiance! The place is gorgeous and a great idea for date night when you want to dress up but Indulge in bomb pizza. The Zia waffle fries are really good but you have to eat them fast! We tried the Bad Paulie and the Hot Chicken pizza both really good. Can’t want to go back to try the rest of the menu.

Mid afternoon on a hot Sunday in July my wife and I decided to try something different. The latest addition to the crowded food scene in Plaza. The interior is clean, open and well decorated giving off the vibe of an upscale dine in Pizza meal. A place where the food is prepared with higher quality ingredients and that sort of thing takes a few extra minutes. This isn't a churn and burn pizza hut. We ordered the breadsticks which were amazing. They were covered in cheese and pesto and a great marinara sauce for dipping. The pizza was called the colony which was pepperoni, jalapenos with drizzled honey. It went above expectations. Do yourself a favor and try something a little different. Sure glad we did.

The atmosphere is breathtaking - absolutely stunning. Spacious (which is such a plus). Jody (bartender) really knows how to make a cocktail (and is so friendly!!) & Katherine (server) recommended the best meal and drink options (and was also super friendly!). Savannah (server) checked on me to make sure I had all I needed & also provided great recommendations (and, you guessed it, was also super friendly). The owner is in a league of her own and has really cultivated a welcoming environment, unreal menu items, and a experience you have to go enjoy for yourself. // I got the MVP Pizza and wow, top 3 best pizzas I've ever had - it was the right combination of flavor. If you're looking for a pizza night, go here - get the MVP - thank me later. For drinks I got 2 seasonal options Not From the Stand & Kick in the Falls - I can't pick a favorite between the two, both are 10/10. They were refreshing and beautifully crafted. Literally can't say enough good things about this place, so I will stop here, but just know: I could rave for days.

Wife and I went to try Emmy Squared on Saturday. First let me comment on the atmosphere, it was very pleasant, we sat in the bar area and both commented on how good the vibe was. We each ordered a different pizza and they came out perfect. I ordered the Angel Pie and my wife ordered the Colony. We were both amazed at the flavor and how perfect our food came out. We will definitely be back sooner rather than later. I am excited to try some of the other white pizza's. I am looking forward to the Nashville Hot White Pizza. Update: Been back many times now. Have tried the Nashville Hot Chicken pizza and oh my god. This is top 5 pizzas all time on my list. Wife still gets the colony. Everytime we get pizza here we are always asking our selves when we can go back again.

I ordered for delivery through doordash. We got a classic with pepperoni and ricotta. The pizza was really good and very saucy which I was happy about. My only complaint is the pizza size, it was pretty small I was expecting a bigger pizza for the price. The fries were really good as well and crispy. I really wanted ranch or some peppers and cheese but they have comments/substitutions disabled on doordash.

I'm a Detroiter and this pizza definitely exceeded expectations. The standard size pizza has 6 square pieces and is more than enough to share. The crust is crispy and buttery. The garlic bread is chef's kiss perfection 🤌🏾. **Wendy is truly the most pleasant. It was a pleasure having her service.

Pizza was fresh and tasted amazing. Normally a Chicago style pizza person but this Detroit style and how they make it is a define must try in plaza. If you are in the Charlotte area I would stop in. The atmosphere is great the front is more intimate and the back is more lively. Will be back.

Damn good! Had two of their pizzas, pepperoni was perfectly cooked if you love crispy pepperonis. As to the Good Paulie, caramelizad onions, smoked Gouda, and sausage made for a perfect white pizza! Even though we didn’t have reservations, the bar has great seating options so don’t count your losses until you check that area out! Will be back!

The pizza is awesome! We got the vegan Artie Bucco and it’s amazing. The Larry is also very satisfying. The decor is very nice.

Emmy Squared Pizza offers a standout take on Detroit-style pizza. The chicken pizza with sesame seed crust was perfectly balanced with a chewy interior and golden, crunchy edges. The tangy house-made sauce enhanced the flavor of the pizza.

First time here, actually suggested by my friend. We made a reservation for Thursday, thus didn't have to wait for a seat! I love how spacious this place is, parking was a difficulty but overall i was able to find a spot a street over. Service was great. Food was absolutely amazing. I usually don't eat pizza that often Bc school events always provide pizza so I got tired of it very quickly. But this pizza really hit me, I absolutely loved it. Honey on pizza was really amazing. Also this Detroit style pizza was way better than the regular Style pizza and I want to say even better than Chicago deep dish. We had a party of 5 and 2 slices for each person, the bill was very cheap. Definitely want to come back again with a group of friend.

Warm & friendly staff from the host, to our server/bartender, to the food runner. Crispy chicken app was so good. Just such an addicting chewy crisp texture. Same can be said about the Detroit style crust! Only ate half my pizza and spent most of the night at home thinking about lunch leftovers for the next day. My only gripe with this place is that I have to drive from Rock Hill to eat this amazingness.

Great greeting at entry. Felt welcome right away! The ambience was well thought out. It's open and not "overdone." It's nice, but still fit the neighborhood. Service was excellent. Not overbearing, but attentive. Good staff selections as well, even shared a few laughs. Food and drink was excellent! Two pies, both were great. Sauce was excellent. Pesto garlic was maybe the best left we ate all night. Easy recommend!

This place is amazing! Robin, Wendy and Aliyah are great bartenders and took great care of us! The food was spectacular especially the Dipper pizza with spinach and artichokes. Highly highly highly recommend. Staff is super friendly!

My first time here and I was blown away, ordered the Hawaiian pizza and it was incredible, we also ordered the Big Ang and it was so good. Our waitress Megan was sooo sweet! We’ll be back!!

Stumbled in here late on a Thursday night because other stuff was closed. They were open for about another 40 minutes but were very accomodating! I had no idea this place was tucked away on Central. Got a large Margherita to spit between two people, and not only was it incredible (probably some of the tastiest pizza I've ever had), it was insanely reasonably priced for the amount of pizza it was. Will absolutely be back!

BEST PIZZA 🍕 we have ever eaten and that includes New York style pizza. We had Vodka pizza and added Burrata cheese , Delicious! Thanks to Elly our waitress which her recommendation and service was excellent.

A

Let’s start with the food amazing! Gluten free crust divine this is not that prepackaged paper thin crust, it’s fresh, it’s thick and I’m in love. Kids loved the pizza and mozzarella cheese sticks too. The bread sticks had pesto looked delicious but the kids wouldn’t try the green bread sticks so if you have picky kiddos keep that in mind (sigh) Also note this is a fresh made to order experience so expect to sit and enjoy your time.

The Detroit style pizza is so delicious and the customer service is even better! Get the Meatsiah and the Ceasar salad! I will definitely be back!

Went during the great snow storm of ‘26. Glad they were open and got to try their awesome deep dish pixxa. They varied from cheese and pepperoni, to vodka pesto and nashville hot chicken with pickles. Great experience, great service, great pizza, but to be honest the star of the show was the burger 🤤🤤 That is a must try and a pleasant surprise from a pizza place.

One of the best pizzas I’ve had in years. The Margherita pizza is absolutely amazing. Each piece has a mini burrata on each piece and it is amazing. I also had the Emotional Damage drink and it was sour and sweet and perfect. The atmosphere was wonderful and I will absolutely be back.

Regarding food- food was great. Fresh and appealing. However our server was dry, barely smiled, yet was professional so overall service was "blah". We will not return to this location but may try out South sides location 😊.

I like Emmy’s overall. The pizza was good and if you look deep dish definitely the right place to go. Was very filling and not overpriced at all. The main issue for me was the desserts. They seemed very good based off the menu but ended up being underwhelming. The brownie tasted old and the apple cobbler had very little taste. Would definitely come back but not order the dessert.

Enjoyed a nice lunch here today. Beautiful interior. We arrived just at opening so it was not crowded. I ordered the Caesar salad (pictured) and it was delish. My partner got the Le Big Matt burger which he enjoyed. I wish we would have tried the pizza as there were several that sounded delicious. Next time! Four stars because the $17 burger did not include a side, so make sure you order fries for the table option.

I ordered a build your own pizza with Detroit-style crust, traditional red sauce, sausage, mushrooms, and Calabrian chilies. It was a spicy pizza with lots of flavor in the sauce and chiles, a crust that was both soft in the middle and crispy right along the edge (perfect), and ingredients that were interesting, cohesive, and stayed on the pizza as I was eating it. I would absolutely come here again. Minus one star for not having a creamy blue cheese dipping sauce… something I’d consider to be a rather obvious condiment in any self-respecting pizza parlor.

We ordered a classic pie and jumbo wings. Wings were crispy but lacked sauce and flavor. They tasted plain. Asked for extra sauce, and had to pay an extra 2 dollars for the sauce. The pizza was good, light and airy.

A

We ordered pick up for the first time. Order was prepared efficiently and timely. The pizza was great. However, the Caesar salad that was supposed to server 2-3 people barely served one. It was literally the left over lettuce that was not refilled in the kitchen (at least that’s what it looked like)! The serving didn’t even cover the bottom of the box and a thing of dressing. I laugh out loud at the serving when I opened it. Please do better especially for the prices.

I normally don’t try out a new restaurant right after they open but I haven’t had Detroit style pizza since I moved here from Austin 3 years ago (shout out to Via 313!!!). I ordered a Deluxe and added pepperoni through UberEATS and the whole process went smoothly. The packaging and logo are super cute! The pizza was good but the crust was undercooked. The crust should be super airy and light with lots of air holes. I hope the restaurant is able to correct this issue soon! I also ordered a side of red sauce (recommend!) and a side of ranch (meh) I definitely want to dine in and try other pizza flavors and the burger.

A

When I first started getting take out from here it was good but recently the quality has gone down. I’m not sure if the outside edges of the crust are getting burnt or if it’s metal corrosion from the pans but there is an off taste so I keep on having to throw away the outer edges.

The lady who took my order was very helpful, kind, and efficient. However, when I got the pizza home I realized that the dough on the gluten free crust was raw! I have been gluten free for a long time, so I do know there will be a difference in the texture, but this was like a sticky paste, just like gluten free dough before it has been cooked. The pizza is also expensive. 3 pizzas cost me $60.

We have been looking forward to this for awhile. It was disappointing. 20 bucks for a burger? While the burger was great and unique it doesn't even come with fries. My mother asked for extra salad dressing and it was 2 dollars for about 3 oz. My daughter's veggie pizza was OK but basically average. It was really, in simple terms, over priced. Our server, while kind, seemed busy and there were few people in there. The overall experience was disappointing.

My best friend and I came in for dinner, and this was my first time visiting. The host was very nice and seated us in a reasonable amount of time. Our server was pleasant overall, though it seemed she was a bit overwhelmed with the number of tables she was handling. We were not aware that it was Restaurant Week. I ordered from the restaurant week menu. My salad arrived in a timely manner, but my entrée took about 40 minutes to come out. When I asked the server about the delay, she wasn’t sure what happened. The manager came over, and his response was that he wasn’t in the back with the sous chef, so he didn’t know what occurred. I didn’t feel that was an adequate explanation. Once it was clear my entrée was significantly delayed, I believe more effort should have been made to expedite it. The manager did comp my meal, which I appreciated, but overall the experience was disappointing. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

My guy and I just left for lunch. We ordered the Angel pizza. We aren’t new to Emmys because we always go to the one in Southend. We enter the restaurant and we were the only ones there and when we asked we were told that they just started opening for lunch a day ago. We thought we would get top notch pizza and customer service. Oh how we were so wrong. We had to wait forever to get our pizza. I was ready to walk out then. Then when we finally received it I asked did the waiter or the manager have to make it because they were ghost after they took our order. I guess he didn’t expect the question as he paused before answering. He said he had to supervise the chef while making our pizza. OMG!!! We never saw the manager again. The pizza was horrible. The presentation was horrible. It looked like baby poop that was squeezed out on top of the pizza. The time that we had to wait was horrible. They may need to reconsider being opened during lunch. The Emmys in Southend never disappoints. I’m gonna definitely show them the picture I took of our pizza. My guy still tipped our waiter well despite the fact that he went ghost for a while and never communicated that our pizza will be up in a few minutes or something. We both we definitely disappointed!

P
Puck

very disappointed especially for the price :/ we got the olive & steak pizza and it was extremely garlicy and too much olive! it was so sour and not enjoyable. the caesar salad was okay.. but they didn’t even have side sized salads. the wings are dry and hard. the buffalo wings only had dried up sauce on them. i had other pizzas i really wanted to try from here but i can safely say nothing we ate today would bring us back.

G
Gabriel Crespo

The pizza was disgusting; it had too much flour, the edges were very thick, and the pizza tasted sour. It seemed to be lukewarm when it took 40 minutes. $42 for a small pizza and some salty chips.

D
David Coyle

I used to love this place. Unfortunately the quality of food and service has really declined. For our last order we used the take out option. When we arrived we waited 20 minutes past the estimated readiness time and the host gave no updates during the long wait. When we got home we noticed the gluten free pizza wasn't cooked through (just dough) and it was missing toppings. Very disappointed.

Let me start by saying I'm extremely cautious about where I eat due to having severe celiac. I always have detailed conversations with my server before I order anything, even if my friends are eating still. I've also eaten at other locations of this restaurant before with no issues, which is why I felt comfortable ordering here. I ordered the same thing I always do, the MVP gluten free pizza. I spoke with my waitress about celiac and cross-contamination risks. She actually seemed knowledgeable, she even pointed out another menu item that wouldn't be safe for me due to cross contamination, so I felt reassured. However, something clearly went wrong between the ordering and the kitchen. The pizza looked normal, and I ate half of it. Within 30 minutes of eating and getting home, I began having a severe reaction. It is now 3am as I write this, and I've had an extremely dangerous night. I experienced hypothermia (my temperature dropped to 94), needed heated blankets, lost muscle control, vomited up my medication and had to have it administered through IV, experienced incontinence, shaking, disorientation, and dangerously low blood pressure. I'm very lucky I did not go into one of my typical seizures. My friend and boyfriend had to assisting me through the entire episode, even helping me get dressed, one of whom luckily is an ER nurse. I want to be clear: this was not just an upset stomach, this was a medical emergency. My boyfriend and I genuinely liked this restaurant and have had good experiences at other locations. This was one of our go to places. But this experience has completely shattered my trust. I'm deeply disappointed and honestly just shaken. I need the restaurant to understand how serious this was and ensure that this doesn't happen to someone else. And just to note, my boyfriend paid $80+ for all three of us, no drinks, each got a pizza, and he got an appetizer.
