Happy hour to late at night to a hidden Mardi Gras hangout this is our neighborhood Asian go to with all the sushi staples, with NOLA mix of Vietnamese seafood, and a good bit of vegetarian Entrées. Staff is great, very friendly, and most have worked there for years if not decade+. Don’t let the bitter bad reviews from tourists or suburban snobs spoil what is local love.
Fabulous! Delicious food and always polite and fast service. Shoutout to our friend Tim tonight who not only anticipated our every need and was the sweetest, but brought me this hot tea to go with out even me saying a word! Food was amazing and it’s open late so great for a late night dinner! 10/10 recommend!
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in the New Orleans area. I would highly recommend! Our server, Cynthia, was and continues to be lovely everytime we come in. She's friendly and efficient. Obviously will be back as often as possible.
This was a delightful meal, where I was rapidly seated and provided the menu. My server Morgan was friendly, knowledgeable, and easily answered my few questions. The food was delicious, came out of the kitchen quickly, and all my needs, refills and napkins and the box, were brought by Morgan before I had to ask. Will be back again.
Love Hoshun! Had been hearing a lot about it and finally decided to try it. Had the pleasure of the lovely Savannah serving us and she was honestly one of the best servers I’ve ever had. She was very friendly and attentive, and made some great recommendations off the menu. Food was delicious, will definitely be back
OMG!!!! This place is amazing. We had Pork fried rice done spicy and it hit on every level. The pork had a slight sweetness that paired perfect with the spicy rice. Bean sprouts had a little crunch seriously the best fried rice we've ever had. We also had the general tso trifecta shrimp, chicken and beef. It was not deep fried and was hot and every meat was mouth watering. We also had the pot stickers which were done to perfection. So good must try spot when in New Orleans!
Outstanding customer service from entry to exit. One of the rare restaurants open on Christmas and grateful for it. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese eggplant, sweet & sour boneless chicken & Kung pao shrimp. Decorum authentic yet a little dark (dim lighting). It didn't bother me yet someone might find exception. Prices reasonable and plates are hearty.
Ate here for the first time last night. My husband got the Tiger roll and shrimp lomein. He never eats lomein but wanted to try it. He loved both of them. Ihad the Street Car sushi which was AMAZING... and my husband decided he'll order that next time along with the shrimp lomein. I could eat the street car sushi every day. I also had the pot stickers, which tasted good but were not evenly cooked. One side was nice and crispy. The other side was soggy and the pot sticker fell apart when you picked it up. That's the only reason for the 4 star review instead of the 5.
This place was near our Airbnb so we went in everyday. I would recommend this place for hot sour soups, spring rolls, California rolls, noodles which can be made extra spicy. Other soups were also great.
Great atmosphere. Love the late hours. That combo rice is the bestttt!!! Sweet tea freshly brewed to perfection. My companion got the octopus sushi and loved it. The waiter suggested pairing it with the ponzu sauce and of course, fresh wasabi. No pictures cause we live in the moment. My companion also had the combo lomein. I'm not a fan of the the thick orange colored noodles, but he loved his dish. 10/10. Not our first rodeo there, but I never thought to leave a review.
I don't know how I forgot to review them in 2021, but they've got top 3 for best US sushi place I've ever been.
For dinner, we decided to check out the Happy Hours at Hoshun Restaurant just a 1 minute walk from our hotel at Historic Street Car Inn New Orleans. Happy Hour at Hoshun Restaurant takes place from 4 to 7pm from Mondays to Saturdays and food are on Happy Hours as well. Since we had bought drinks, we decided to only order the food here. Thankfully, the food are on Happy Hour prices here at Hoshun Restaurant as well. This time, we ordered the Hoshun Trio ($10) and Sauteed Vegetables ($8) along with the Spicy Tuna ($5). While the food didn’t have the “wow factor”, we actually enjoyed the meal. The vegetables were not too salty and the gravy had a familiar taste – something that we would have with our hor fun back home. Both of us enjoyed the meats in the Hoshun Trio that had beef, chicken and prawn. The beef and chicken were really tender and Tom enjoyed the sweet gravy that went well with the rice. Also, both dishes came with a small bowl of fried rice – not Chaufa great but decent. Spicy Tuna Sushi roll was good as well with the rich and tasty avocado... Best service ever, Tim was very helpful navigating us through the menu. As well as very tentative to our needs! Came in from out of state for a show this weekend and wanted a late dinner. They went Above and Beyond our expectations! The food was fresh and delicious. Prices were very reasonable for the quality they provided. Would highly recommend anything off their menu 🤤
Really an enjoyable meal. The staff is friendly and checks in often. The food was really good. We made it for Happy Hour and had a great time. The selection of food is great and the quality was excellent too. We needed a break from typical southern cuisine and this place was perfect. The decor is dark but aesthetically pleasing which created a relaxing experience.
This is the go to spot. If you don’t visit this place you are missing out on the best sushi the city has to offer. It’s a really chill environment at the bar area even if you don’t drink. Cynthia, knows everyone and is always a pleasure to have as a waitress/bartender. If you need a recommendation, get a playboy roll.
Sushi night x3! The best part of Mardis Gras for me! Thank you Hoshun staff - you are all lovely. 🥰
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Garlic salmon 2-piece sushi is INCREDIBLE. GET IT. Everyone loved their dishes. Didn't have time to take a pic it was so good. We were a really big group and the server was super patient and understanding. I felt bad at one point and would have personally been v annoyed by how long some of us took to order food, but the server was incredibly patient, kind, and helpful.
Came here for dinner Friday night. Place was dimley lit but very welcoming.I had the Hoshun triple...Beef Chicken and Shrimp in a savory spicy sauce.. Very well seasoned and delicious. We also had the crawfish fried rice...i wish it was more seasoned but still pretty good. My wife had the fried pork in a sweet pineapple sauce...THAT WAS AMAZING!!! Plenty of leftovers for later.Bring your appetite cuz you're gonna leave full!!
Very high quality authenic ethnic foods. The menu is huge! So much to choose from, but you gotta try the spring rolls, they're to die for! The teriyaki beef and the shrimp tempera roll were amazing as well! Honestly you can't go wrong no matter what you order here. Everything is delicious and the service was incredible. As a bonus, this place was conveniently within walking distance of the bed and breakfast we were staying at.
Hoshun is by far my favorite place to eat. The staff, the atmosphere, the vibe....is all there for a perfect date night. The food is amazing. My favorite go-to is the Hoshun friend rice (chicken, pork, and shrimp). Check it out. You won't be disappointed!
Hoshun always come in strong. We had fast accurate service by very nice wait staff. The Mongolian beef was to die for. Every sushi roll we got was delectable. Sashimi salad was amazing. The restaurant interior is excellent. Calm brown colors, fun music playing, elevated booth seating. Calm lighting. Very much enjoy this place.
I go here all the time, If you want the best grade sushi & drinks go here- the atmosphere is everything. It’s service with a smile-always 😊I get the dragon roll, salmon sashimi & tried the eel once. Personally my FAVORITE thing to order is the blueberry lemon drop martini- I refuse to be turned on to anything else😋
Great late night eats. Cool setting and terrific service. I will definitely be back. Shannon thanks for all your recommendations!!
This is the most delish Asian fair in all of New Orleans. I'm not sure I'm qualified to make that proclaim but it's where I got my late night street noodle fix so I stand behind it. 😂 We had duck and street noodles and more alcohol. It was quick and quite yummy.

Excellent dining experience at the Hoshun bar. Cynthia is a bartender and food server and will take good care of you and she has a great personality!
Great service and delicious food. I ordered the fried rice, mixed vegetables, and salmon avocado roll. Everything was wonderful 10/10.
They made it happen. Greet at the door. Greetings at the table. They explained the menu. They gave us a better choice. The food came out timely. The food was hot and flavorful. It was a healthy size portion. Reasonably priced. I'm going back this week. 2 👍🏼👍🏼's Up!
A former coworker and I love going here for happy hour. I love the atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. I always order the chicken wings, rice trio (crawfish and chicken) and crab ragoons. They also have sushi prices half off. Reasonable prices! Fresh sushi daily! I love this spot. Restaurant is very clean. The bathroom needs work. Only one stall working in the woman bathroom.

If food portion size was my primary motivation for being here then this place would get 10 stars. All the portions we received were huge! Service was a little short staffed. Our waiter didn't get around to all his tables enough. I could tell he was working hard but he just didn't have any back up. The atmosphere was great. It's a nice place to eat. The food was good, not great but good and the sushi roll I had was good as well. The other two in our party were very happy with their meals and both commented that they enjoyed the food and they both commented on how large the portions were. It's not typical New Orleans fare but it's good food and you'll get plenty of it.
Pretty good late night food spot that stays open when others are closed
We ordered take out on Thanksgiving. The food was very good and fresh. The seaweed salad was tasty and the teriyaki chicken was delicious. We also ordered the sashimi salad and shrimp fried rice. The sashimi in the salad were cut in random sizes. Small and large. Which threw me off. The flavor was good but I don't like to chew sashimi like a piece of chicken. The shrimp fried rice lacked flavor but was cooked well. Shrimp wasn't over cooked and rice was fluffy. I'd order again.
The menu has been reduced, but what is there is good. The sushi here is okay; there are tastier, fresher options nearby. When dining in service is good, prices are reasonable, sitting is ample. The place still looks fantastic inside. The ornate and glossy tables, the amazing Asian inspired chairs, the paintings and styling of the walls, the miscellaneous amazing pieces of decor.

I recently went on Sunday. I paid with a card and I know it was a percentage, still paid with the card. However, I didn’t have any cash for a tip so I left one on my card, something I never do. Anyway, they adjusted my tip and took an extra $1! IDC IF IT WAS A QUARTER I DIDNT GIVE PERMISSION TO DO SO. Just imagine how many people this was done too!
I actually hated this place. Mostly the bartender was the problem, I have not reviewed the food, but I felt so unwelcome and ignored. I'll review the food later, but right now I hate this place.
My 2nd time here. The food was good. However, the service was horrible. I was so hungry by the time our food came, I forgot to take a picture. Also, it SMELLS in there! Smells like sewage gas and mold. It needs a deep cleaning for sure.

Such a disappointment. Been coming for a while and brought family to eat.... Destiny is the name of the server who did not do a proper job. The restaurant was not packed and the service was subpar. She didn't know her menu. She couldn't explain the taste of the kung pao chicken to me. The dessert was terrible. It tasted like cold kinetic sand flavored like creamsicle but wrapped in a bugger. We were given plastic spoons to eat that dessert with instead of metal... Felt very disrespectful. I work in a restaurant..... I was not busy enough to be out of metal silverware. The bathroom smelled terrible. My sister and my cousin were also disappointed.... She told me her daughter almost threw up. She's only four. I got sick about 30 minutes after leaving the establishment. It's such a shame. The place has gone downhill cuz it used to be really awesome.

Reviews were good and it's open late so I decided to try it. Very disappointed!!! The waiter was nice enough but it took far to long for him to approach the table especially since it was pretty empty. I ordered Wonton soup and combo fried rice. The soup was bland with chewy shrimp that wasn't completely cooked. The combo fried rice was horrible. The only taste was the oil that was obviously used to prepare it. It was limited to 3 protein choices. Every combo fried rice I've ever had includes all meats with no fat but not this. This place is exactly why I don't like trying to restaurants.
Their hours of operation are not consistent with what’s posted online. They close when they feel like it.
Worst experience ever!!! I used to enjoy going to eat/drink here. Tonight, we showed up for happy hour, to eat, and we weren't greeted for 20 mins. We had to go search for a server. She acted as if she didn't care how long we waited, same as the host who seated us...we left! Never go there!!!! Its been sold and gone downhill, obviously!
Our server was brand new so I have empathy for her, but otherwise what a poor experience. Bathroom wreaks of urine, told manager - did nothing. Kung Pao chicken just soggy chicken breast and peanuts. Cucumber salad - sliced cucumbers with some seeds on top (no oil/dresssing) Rangoons were soggy Crispy pork dish drowned in cheap sugar sauce. Green beans were soggy / congealed from heat lamp and just bad lol Idk guys try
Most horrific general Taos chicken I’ve ever had. Forget about tendering or juicy, this is pure rubbery. Hard to chew. Food came out warm, not hot. Great and friendly service. But the chicken is a disrespect of the Chinese culture.
Don't come here. Food is expensive (at least taste reasonable), waitress are overloaded, and ppl talk loud because they're drunk after party
